The New Jersey based producer, DJ and Strength label boss was referred to as "the dancer's DJ" in Resident Advisor's 2009 feature on the US east coast house renaissance, a title honestly earned given his background as a world traveling house dancer and resident at New York's esteemed HouseDanceConference. He's been steadily reinforcing that description ever since, with a well-received run of rhythmic, dark, stripped-down productions for his Strength Music imprint. http://strengthmusicrecordings.com/ https://www.instagram.com/dj_qu/?hl=en-gb Recorded on August 5, 2023 in Long Island City, Queens NY. I am pleased that the House legend Joey Anderson is my guest in Portal Episode 54. Four amazing albums, two of them on the legendary Dekmantel label and several great EPs on various labels speak for themselves. He has a unique and outstanding sound which you should definitely check out, if you haven't already. I mixed the first 60 minutes and started with an all time favorite track produced by Efdemin followed by DJ Qu, Grad_U, Patrice Scott and others. Also I included a new track by VC-118A taken from his new album on Delsin. Hope you enjoy! Music is able to lift you into other dimensions, so come with me through this portal and immerse into the depths of my record collection. www.markussuckut.com
After realising they shared an uncanny stash of the same records, Melbourne Deepcast's Myles Mac and Melbourne via Copenhagen's DJ Camov formed a tribute band of sorts, occasionally coming together to share their obsession for forgotten 90s house music with the world. On their regular journeys back through the golden years, Project 95 moves between the soulful house of Chicago, NYC garage, Detroit techno, acid and early French filter house, channelling the legendary grooves of Ian Pooley, Paul Johnson, Daft Punk, Wamdue Kids, Fresh & Low, DJ Tonka, HMC and Roy Davis Jr. to name a few. No stranger to the interwebs, their distinct styles have been featured across the spectrum with extended mixes for Melbourne Deepcast and London's Stamp The Wax Diggers Directory podcast, with a three-hour session covering everything from 90s dub techno to IDM and rave. At home, the duo has been regularly called upon to set the tone for the likes of Glenn Underground, DJ Qu and Jeremy Underground, have been found winding back the clock at club nights like Melbourne's Lost Weekend and Lucid, Sydney's Vibe Positive and Heavenly, and Pitch Music & Arts Festival in country Victoria. @proj95 ==================================================== Upcoming Novel events: smalltown Street Rave w/ Roza Terenzi and Tornado Wallace Saturday 29th January, 3PM - 11PM @ Graham St, Port Melbourne Support: Millu, Pjenne, Marli, Willem www.facebook.com/events/805211553479883 Moodlab by Marli Friday 12th February, 10PM - 5AM @ Colour DJs: Marli, Bertie, Dj Luv You, Baby G, Floss Dogg, Aldonna, Bella Claxton www.facebook.com/events/1411925449193951 Bella Claxton Pres. **Wer bist du in wenigen Worten?** Ich bin Ingo, ein seit ca. 25 Jahren schwer abhängiger Vinyl Junkie mit großem Faible für elektronische Musik, und das in einem ziemlich eklektischen Sinne. Domenico Imperato a.k.a. Franz was born in 1987 in Naples. He started collecting tapes and videotapes about underground music when he was a very young boy and already fancied bands such as Prodigy, Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, etc… At an early age he started collecting bootleg tapes made at legendary concerts in Naples and surrounding areas in the 1990s. He was a keen supporter of the team Angels of Love which he joined at the age of 15. This experience marked an important milestone in his artistic career. Ever since he was 16 he has shown strong feelings of enthusiasm for spinning vinyls and great skills in manipulating music. From the age of 20 to 28 he has been in charge of dj console at the best underground parties in Naples where he has worked with many djs such as Derrick May, Tiga, Dj Qu, Ben Ufo, Blawan, Roman Flugel, dj Tennis, Scuba, Raresh, Praslea, Dana Ruh, Alex Picone, Adriatique, Supernova, Analogue Cops, Prosumer, The Black Madonna ,Lehar, Musimeci, Solar. At the age of 21 he studied at the Nut Academy in Italy where he got his diploma in Electronic Music Producer and Live Performer. In 2009 he spent 6 months in London where he mastered his manipulating music skills. Since 2010 he has taken an avid interest in the project work that is about the great vinyl, analogue world. In August 2016 he released the track “Bad” on Big Area Records. The track was appreciated by famous artists like Laurent Garnier , Gel Abril, Slaker, Michel De Hey and others. In December 2016 he released the “Lost Phone” ep on Isolated Records Berlin .In June 2017 he released his first 8 tracks album “Un Viaggio nella Natura “ on Big Area Records. The album is inspired by a true story. Its titles, order of the tracks, melodies, groove and images describe the places and emotions felt during the artist’s amazing journey. Asyl Cahier is a Tokyo-based DJ who also hosts a series of events entitled LSI Dream. While he was born in Japan, it was moving to New York that led him to explore music more deeply and begin to DJ. There he was influenced by, and had the chance to play alongside, house luminaries like Fred P, DJ Qu, and Baaz. There he also fell in love with the beauty of techno music and discovered more abstract sounds. When DJing Asyl seeks to fuse together these different influences, open to experimenting without ever losing sight of the dancefloor, with a consistent groove grounding his sets. His considered approach has established him as a name to watch in the Tokyo scene, and he has supported many international acts, including Shed, Svreca, Powell, Lena Willikens, Mosca and the Giegling crew. Dj Qu, the man behind the remixes of Joel Alter‘s “Rules Of Love” on Bass Culture, offered us this house music mix for the Bass Culture podcast series. Dj Qu is considered as part of a group of New York house music dj/producers that contributed to the renaissance of the genre in the Big Apple, among Jus-Ed, Levon Vincent, Fred P and the like… making sense considering that Bass Culture boss D’julz had been inspired by the New York scene while living there when he started djing back in the nineties… Subscribe on iTunes / RSS / Newsletter
