Lillimure is a singer, songwriter, and producer based in NYC. Influenced by melodies of her multicultural upbringing, she draws from introspective lyricism and pulsing grooves for when you want to run away and find yourself at the same time. Lillimure's genre-bending sound can be described as pop with a heavy sensibility to musicianship influenced by sounds from R&B, jazz, and folk to the likes of John Mayer, Tom Misch, and Emily King.Her journey began as a songwriter with her first single “Summer Blues” in 2017. Her latest singles, "Lately" (2024)and "Favorite Song" (2023), debut her work as a producer as well as showcase the band she tours with. Lillimure's music has made its way to many stages including locally at the Pleasantville Music Festival, The Mercury Lounge opening for Kiltro and Eaglin, and her annual return to the New York Botanical Gardens, and internationally at The Forge in London and Salotto Di Alice in Naples, Italy.Her upcoming body of work surrounds the emotions of knowing people and places for a brief period of time, and keeping those memories close as the pages turn. The frontman of the experimental indie band talks about living in Valparaíso and turning inward on the band's latest record.

Like many musicians, Denver band Kiltro had to pivot creatively during the pandemic. Isolation and chaos gave birth to the exploratory sound band members Chris Bowers Castillo and Will Parkhill produced on their 2023 album Underbelly. Freshly signed to national label 7S (along with Colorado bands Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats and Wildermiss), Kiltro has been touring the US making themselves known and developing a unique live show to encapsulate the intimate and introspective sounds from their latest body of work. Marko Zaror Aguad is a Chilean martial artist, actor, and stuntman. He started training in martial arts when he was six years old. His main sports are taekwondo and kickboxing and he has also black belts in judo and aikido and a green belt in shotokan. Zaror has appeared in several Spanish language action films, including Chinango and Kiltro, and acted as stuntman for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the 2003 film The Rundown. In 2010, he played bloodthirsty Colombian prisoner/fighter Raul "Dolor" Quinones in the film Undisputed III: Redemption, which was his first U.S. American film and the first time he spoke English in a film. In Machete Kills (2013), he played an associate of main villain Luther Voz (Mel Gibson), with "Zaror" being his character's name. He was seen as a mixed martial arts competition finalist in bollywood movie Sultan. Zaror follows a ketogenic diet to improve his performance and since 2016 he combines it with a vegetarian diet for ethical, environmental, and health reasons. Kiltro captivated us at last year's Underground Music Showcase when the band played one of our porch sessions. Led by Chilean-American artist Chris Bowers-Castillo, the Denver band makes loop-based songs influenced by folk, Latin, rock and electronic music. Kiltro will release its debut album, "Creatures of Habit," next month and play an album release show July 6 at Denver's Larimer Lounge. Kiltro visited our studio last month to play four songs. The band members also spoke with Jeremy Petersen about how the band grew from Bowers-Castillo's solo project to a trio, the dozens of effect pedals they use in their music and the growing diversity of Denver's music scene.

Jessi Whitten of Colorado Public Radio's Open Air co-hosts this week's All Songs Considered and turns me on to the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, the funnest band name of the year with music all the way from Perth, Australia to match. All of Jessi's picks are laced with fun, including French Vanilla's new-wave, early-'80s sound, reminiscent of the British punk band X-Ray Spex. She also brings us music from Colorado by Kiltro, a band with one foot in Colorado and another in Chile. I also have a noisy band called Wives., These folks are from Queens, New York and have a five-minute-plus, Velvet Underground-inspired tune called "Workin'." I also play one of Bon Iver's newest songs that's a nod to the past and to a mother's love. And my favorite new discovery is Kate Davis, a singer who co-wrote Sharon Van Etten's song "Seventeen." The same talented lyricism can be found in Kate's song, "rbbts."

El nombre del chileno Marko Zaror lleva sonando ya un tiempo en bocas de los que somos muy aficionados al cine de artes marciales. Habiendo trabajado como doble de nada menos que Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Zaror es un espécimen físico que parece creado para romper por la mitad a otros especímenes más débiles. Bromas a parte, Kiltro fue una sorpresa en su año de aparición, un film hecho con pocos medios pero con muchísimas ganas y que es un homenaje a montones de clichés del género. Solo por eso, merece la pena un visionado. Hasta mañana!
