E.F. Benson's "The Wishing-Well" was first published in the United Kingdom in the collection Visible and Invisible by Hutchinson & Co. in 1923. This collection, featuring a range of supernatural and uncanny tales, showcases Benson's skill in blending traditional ghost story elements with psychological depth and social commentary. "The Wishing-Well," a particularly potent example of his Cornish-set fiction, has since been reprinted in numerous anthologies of ghost and horror stories, cementing its place as a classic of the genre. This week, a slew of Disneyland 70th news, a classic attraction gets an update, extra magic for guests caught in the rain, Captain America brings new treats to Avenger's Campus, a wishing well loses its top, we talk to Walt Disney World VIP Tour Cast Member Less, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: As the march towards the launch of Disneyland's 70th Anniversary continues, the Disney Parks Blog posted an update for the celebration. The new “Walt Disney - A Magical Life” attraction has been delayed until the official birthday of July 17th. Rumors have suggested that they have some more tweaking of the show to make it perfect for guests. - https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disneyland-70th-anniversary-new-experiences-main-street-usa/ In addition to the new show, the lobby of the Opera House will have an experience featuring the evolution of Walt's dream for Disneyland. Images, art, and artifacts - some never seen before - will be on display. The next area will be dedicated to the story and history of Audio-Animatronics. Finally, some artifacts from the Walt Disney Family Museum will be on display, including items from Walt's apartment, humanitarian accolades, and more! - https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disneyland-70th-anniversary-new-experiences-main-street-usa/ After leaving the “Walt Disney - A Magical Life” show, the exit lobby will show previews of projects and how Disneyland will move forward in the years ahead. - https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disneyland-70th-anniversary-new-experiences-main-street-usa/ Also announced was a fairly major update to “it's a small world.” Shortly before Richard Sherman, who, along with his brother Robert, wrote many songs and lyrics to classic Disney tunes, passed away last year, he wrote a new verse for the iconic song in the attraction. This new verse will debut in the attraction starting July 17th. If you want to hear Richard tell you all about it, you can watch “The Last Verse,” a short film we have linked in the show notes. This short film will also be playing in the Main Street Cinema for the 70th Anniversary. - https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disneyland-70th-anniversary-new-experiences-main-street-usa/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fKUnhAIVp0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DerN_lPryRA Guests who brave Disneyland in the rain are getting a little extra magic recently. When it rains, the parade is usually replaced by a “rainy day cavalcade.” Currently, there is no parade running, but the cavalcade is! So, if you want a little extra entertainment for your Disney dollars, a rainy day could be a good option. - https://www.micechat.com/409435-disneyland-update-stormy-skies-rising-moons-delayed-debuts/ With the premiere of Captain America: Brave New World, new food, drink, and merchandise arrived in Avenger's Campus. At Pym Test Kitchen, you can pick up a Red Gamma Gulp, which is a red velvet cold brew with cream cheese cold foam, or a Red Rage Wings, which are spicy wings tossed in habanero sauce and served with potato bites and ranch dressing. At the Pym Tasting Lab, there is a Liberty Punch, a Litmus Lemonade with blue Hawaiian and topped with citrus meringue foam. At Schwarma Too, a pepperoni and cheese pizza pocket is available. Both have mozzarella, house-made marinara sauce, and wrapped in empanada dough. Finally, there is a Captain America Shield Sipper at Pym Test Kitchen. - https://www.micechat.com/409435-disneyland-update-stormy-skies-rising-moons-delayed-debuts/ An unexpected, but welcome update has come to Snow White's Wishing Well. For fans of Dungeons and Dragons and the Kingkiller Chronicles, a high fantasy audio drama with swords, sorcery, songs, and a cozy tavern in the woods . . . One-hundred years ago, Wren lost his memories when he struck a deal with the Goddess of Death and became her champion. His job description entails operating a tavern alone in the middle of a cursed forest and guarding the path to the legendary Wishing Well. On the rare occasion that a wish-seeker survives the Manglewood long enough to reach his doorstep, he sits them down by his fire with a drink of their choice, listens to their story, and immortalizes them in song. But one-hundred years is a long time to be alone, and Wren wants nothing more than to regain his memories. It was in 2018 that the three-piece band Robotic Hawks came together and, in that time, they've taken many a stage and radio show and, in this episode, we're going to hear all about it! Band members Tyler Pollard (Vocals/Bass), Brian Sturk (Drums) and Shawn Doherty (Guitar) give us the whole backstory—how the band came together through a Craigslist ad and some of their favorite venues over the years. This includes some of Curtis and I's most beloved venues, the Middle East and the Sinclair. We talk about how the band's style has evolved with the release of their new EP “All Business” as well as their unique style and how it's been perceived over the years. We also go into the collaborative process behind their songwriting. Shawn, Tyler and Brian give us a look as to what's next for Robotic Hawks and we highlight some upcoming shows. Opening the episode is an excerpt from “High Maintenance” and closing things out is “Wishing Well,” both of which are from the new album.

Join host Jim Ellermeyer and co-host Producer Mike on “Fishing Without Bait,” where they explore the profound themes embedded in Juice WRLD's poignant track, “Wishing Well.” This episode dives deep into the late artist's struggles with addiction, depression, and his unspoken cries for help through his music. Jim and Mike analyze the lyrics, reflecting on the young rapper's battle with opiate addiction and his tragic overdose at 21. They discuss the metaphor of the wishing well as a symbol of hope and desperation, where Juice WRLD tossed his pain and wishes, highlighting the reality of addiction's grip. Jim, a behavioral health therapist, shares insights on the nature of addiction, emphasizing the importance of action and effort over mere wishing. They discuss how Juice WRLD's lyrics, like “I can't breathe” and “toss my pain with my wishes in a wishing well,” resonate with the experience of many struggling with addiction. The episode underscores the importance of recognizing and addressing the root causes of addiction and depression, rather than merely treating symptoms. Listeners will find a compelling discussion on the emotional and psychological challenges faced by those in addiction, the role of support systems, and the critical need for timely intervention. Jim and Mike also touch on broader themes of mental health, the universality of struggles, and the importance of seeking help. In this episode of Where Are They Now? we delve into the life and career of 80's star Terence Trent D'Arby or as he is known today as Sananda Maitreya as we journey from his strict upbringing as a child in the church under the thumb of his step father who restricted what music he was aloud to listen to. We also discuss Terence's experience with bullying and racial abuse during school. We then detail his experience at university and as a aspiring pro boxer before taking up a role in the US Army where he would eventually desert his post to follow his dream of becoming a musician, running with a 9 man band in Germany called "The Touch". As the talented vocalist eventually kickstarted his career as a solo act scoring 2 major hits including "Sign Your Name" and "Wishing Well" and taking home a Grammy award for his debut album titled "Introducing the Hardline". Only for his out of control ego and his failing 2nd studio album to send him on a path of self destruction as Terence would go through a transformational spiritual awakening to discover his true higher self, where he would then be known as Sananda Maitreya. As we learn what exactly the 62 year old is up to today. This episode was written, researched, narrated, edited and produced by Adam Hampton. Here at Wishing Well Journal, we share a story of how the wishing well came into the Norse Mythology and our story of The season of Growth. Mimir was the God of knowledge, prophecy, and memory who guards the wishing Well of Wisdom. Odin gave his right eye as the exchange to see the past, present, and future. In this episode, I shared with you my golden nuggets that I personally gain in the internal wisdom as I journey and lead you listeners to Mt. Meru. The well of wishing has served as a reminder or a memory in the wisdom of sacred and holy water of the basic elemental in our pursuit of happiness. Here I have reached the second tier of accomplishing 60 Days and 30 more to go. This is the overjoyed happiness of almost making several turns and clicks to solve the rubric's cube of life, love, and lesson. Thank you for being the listeners to keep me moving (kim) and I appreciate you all so very much!
