Some people see something special happening at the Berkeley Community Garden in Boston's South End: a multicultural garden community built from the rubble of a demolished city block; a green oasis of Chinese plants like bitter melon, cultivated here for over half a century. But others… well, all they see is a trash pile.In the final installment of Yardwork, the story of how a predominantly immigrant community garden is shaping the built environment, even as gentrification threatened its existence.Featuring: Arlene Ng, Kim Szeto, Chun Lee, Sue Fong Lee, Helen Ng, Fanny, Ada, Sarah Hutt, Jeremy Liu, Betsy Johnson, Ann McQueen, Valerie Burns SUPPORTOutside/In is made possible with listener support. 'Twas two days till Tuesday and throughout the Cod Cabin, the crew sits down and discusses what will happen. A diverse field of candidates to claim city hall, but two will win while the rest will all fall. Jack talks about Wu, and Adam Essabi George, while Jessy rants about Kim Janey's polling gourge. Logan looks at his maps to give us a sample, of wether or not there is a shot for Campbell. Barros winning? That seems quite odd, but find out more, on this Cabin of Cod.

Do you just love Boston's green spaces? If so Kim Janey wants your vote lol. In fun news Boston is mad literally hot because of racism. Charlie Duane Baker wants to have two tax free months because we got money like dat but no money for the T. Supreme court confirmed you can curse your school out for not giving you a varsity position in cheerleading. Free Britney and the larger implications this case has on disability and mental health issues for all of us.
Local news and good ole racism never gets old. This week Kim Janey is being a fool trying to rush people back to work. Anansi the spider is polling ahead of everyone with Wu right behind her. The UNC Board of Trustees are full of racist that denied the creator of the 1619 project Nikole Hannah-Jones tenure at UNC's journalism school. Rick Santorum thinks Native American did nothing when it comes to American culture. OHHH and there is a Jim Crow creek, canyon, and road somewhere in Cali named after a native Hawaiian man whose name def wasn't Jim.

On local politics we talk about how much money people are donating and it will make you sick. The Red Sox are trying to win back Alejandra's love with a cool ad, and jersey. Then we hit sadness talking about DMX and this tragic situation. It gave way to a great conversation about addiction and how we are all affected by it.
I go live every Tuesday at 9pm
A new vaccine center in Dorchester, Paul Pierce out of a job and Kim Janey makes it official. 5 minutes of news that will keep you in "The Loop".
Georgia thinks it is 1933 all over again. Kim Janey first Black mayor of Boston is coming out strong in her first week. BPD caught up in overtime scandal again...Arkansas is trying to pass a shit anti trans law. Lil Nas X pissed off bunch of people and got hella streams. Oh also that boat is free from the Suez Canal.
The intense national interest in Kim Janey's ascension that her stewardship of Boston could change, or begin to change, perception of the city. It could also change the way the Boston sees itself. But there are some important caveats attached to the Janey era — starting with the fact that it could end in November, when Boston holds the final election to replace former mayor Marty Walsh. Yawu Miller, the senior editor of the Bay State Banner, talks about what it's been like as a Black Bostonian to watch the transfer of power from Walsh to Janey, and how the candidates who've already said they're running can respond to the undeniable advantage Janey now enjoys. First, though, Janey gets some friendly advice from Jane Swift, who ran Massachusetts after Paul Cellucci became ambassador to Canada — and might have been elected in 2002, if Mitt Romney had turned his focus to Utah a bit earlier than he did.

3/24/21-- It's a momentous day in Boston as the city swore in its first non-white non-male mayor in Kim Janey. Stephanie Murray says it's "hard to overstate" just how historic the moment is, as Janey takes on the new role in a ceremony including Ayanna Pressley and Kimberly Budd who are Massachusetts history-makers as well. Later, Stephanie and Steve are joined by outgoing mayor of Lynn, Tom McGee. McGee is one of eight Massachusetts mayors who won't be seeking re-election this year. The news comes as we enter the second year of the pandemic. McGee says the past three years have felt like 25. While he has no plans for the future, he's certain that stepping away from the mayor's office will not mean discontinuing his passion -- working to make change for the better of his community. Some people may have been taken aback by the overflow crowd of 350 people who showed up earlier this month for a Boston City Council hearing in Roxbury to hear concerns about displacement. Kim Janey was not one of them. “I was not surprised at all,” said Janey, the district city councilor who represents Roxbury along with parts of Dorchester, the South End, and the Fenway. Janey, who sponsored the November 13 hearing, said concerns about displacement have reached a fever pitch in Roxbury, where housing costs shot up by 70 percent from 2010 to 2015, twice the rate of the overall citywide appreciation of 36 percent during that period. “People are feeling the heat,” she said on this week's Codcast. “People are being pushed out of our neighborhood. And so we need to come up with creative solutions to keep residents who want to be in Roxbury in Roxbury.”
