Dr. Carole Keim welcomes pediatric dentist Dr. Ian Kott, DDS, to The Baby Manual to talk about children's oral hygiene, everything from brushing teeth to weaning kids off pacifiers. Dr. Kott explains when a child's first dental visit should happen and what to expect from it, and gives tips on how to start brushing children's teeth as soon as the teeth appear. Dr. Keim and Dr. Kott discuss cavity prevention, the importance of discouraging thumb sucking and pacifiers, and when to consider discontinuing bedtime bottle use. Dr. Kott explains that training toothpaste is useful, even when it doesn't contain fluoride, because it teaches children the aspect of teeth brushing that involves spitting. He shares tips on how to make teeth brushing easier or more fun for children who fight it. The causes of cavities in kids are from anything that is a fermentable carbohydrate: milk, juice, and even breast milk, once a child is on solid food. One of the reasons to wean children off nighttime bottles of formula is to prevent tooth decay from the fermentable carbohydrate staying on their teeth too long, but also because pacifiers, bottles, and thumb sucking all change the swallowing patterns and shape of the palate in children over the age of two. There is a vast amount of very helpful practical advice, knowledge, and information about pediatric dental care contained in this episode.   Dr. Ian Kott, DDS:Originally from Michigan, Dr. Kott received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan in 1999. As a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Public Health Service, Dr. Kott has completed several tours of duty as Senior Dental Officer in the United States Coast Guard and as Deputy Chief Clinic Administrator with the Indian Health Service, all stationed in Alaska. After gaining a variety of valuable experiences in general dentistry, Dr. Kott felt compelled to specialize in treating children. Idag får vi äntligen höra om tvillingarna Sanna och Lina El Kott Helanders äventyr i somras på PTL under UTMB-veckan.  PTL är en förkortning för La Petite Trotte à Léon och betyder i princip Leons lilla promenad. Men PTL är långt ifrån en söndagspromenad och räknas inte som ett lopp utan mer ett äventyr. Man deltar i lag om 2 eller 3 personer tar sig an ca 300 km och 25 000 höjdmeter runt Mont Blanc. Banan är omarkerad och man följer en GPX-rutt och bär i princip med sig allt man behöver i ryggsäcken själv.  Sanna och Lina El Kott Helander genomförde PTL sommaren 2023 och gick i mål på 126,5 timme. Och även om dom precis har varit i Costa Rica och gjort ytterligare ett flerdagarsäventyr så är PTL äventyret som fortfarande dröjer sig kvar i tankarna och som vi får höra om här. Silicon Valley billionaires behind a secretive $800 million land-buying spree in Northern California have finally released some details about their plans for a new green city, but they still must win over skeptical voters and local leaders. After years of ducking scrutiny, Jan Sramek, the former Goldman Sachs trader spearheading the effort, launched a website about “California Forever.” The site billed the project as “a chance for a new community, good-paying local jobs, solar farms, and open space” in Solano, a rural county between San Francisco and Sacramento that is now home to 450,000 people. But to build anything resembling a city on what is now farmland, the group must first convince Solano County voters to approve a ballot initiative to allow for urban uses on that land, a protection that has been in place since 1984. Local and federal officials still have questions about the group's intentions. California is in dire need of more housing, especially affordable homes for teachers, firefighters, service and hospitality workers. But cities and counties can't figure out where to build as established neighborhoods argue against new homes that they say would congest their roads and spoil their quiet way of life. Princess Washington, mayor pro tempore of Suisun City, is suspicious that the group's real purpose is “to create a city for the elite” under the guise of more housing.  Mayor Ron Kott suspects older people who make up half of the city's 10,000 residents won't appreciate the added congestion and noise, but others might like the improved medical care, nightlife and shopping that a sophisticated city nearby might bring. “If it's done correctly, I think there's a lot of opportunities for the county. Their tax revenue base will increase quite a bit. So there's going to be a big windfall from that. Property values would probably go up around here as well even further. And so I think from those perspectives it's good,” Kott said. "But again, I think you're giving up a quality of lifestyle that's kind of unique to this area." Szűcs Antal Gábor A magyar rocktörténet egyik legnagyobb vándoraként is említik Szűcs Antal Gábort. Középiskolában tornásznak készült. Magyar Zoltánnal edzett. Tizenöt évesen már az Orkán zenekarban játszott a hétvégeken egész éjszakákat. A zenét autodidakta módon sajátította el, tanulta. „....Nem tanultam semmiféle zenét, végzettségem nincs róla, amit tudok, azt magamtól és a fülem után sajátítottam el. Kottát olvasni nem tudok, nem is érdekelt soha, mert mindig a saját zenémet játszottam, amit mi találtunk ki. Persze el tudok játszani mást is, de ez volt a profilunk.....” vallja magáról. Érdekessége, hogy balkezes, és megtanult jobb kézzel is gitározni. Az általa írt zenéket dallamosnak tartja, mert mint azt nyilatkozta „Én dallamokban gondolkozom. Akár a Skorpióban, akár a Dinamitban, akár a Latin-lemezeken.” Első saját hangszerét maga faragta, csinálta deszkákból, meg mindenféléből, amiket otthon talált. Ő is bundozta, és ajtómágnesből tekert hozzá pick-upot. Első gyári gitárját tizennyolc éves korában kapta. Első együttese a Szivárvány együttes, majd 3 évig a Hungária együttes tagja is volt. 1973-tól a Skorpió együttes tagja. Az együttessel sokat turnéztak, Lengyelországtól Amerikáig. A magyar zenészek a nyugatiakhoz képest keveset kerestek, ezért állandó turnét vállaltak. A Skorpió együttes 1979-ben feloszlik, megalakul a Dinamit, amely 1982-ig tartott, utána játszott az Ős-Bikiniben. Az 1980-as évek végén beszáll a Bojtorján utódzenekarába az Albatrossba (1998-tól Új Bojtorján), majd Pomázi Zoltánnal létrehozza a Creol együttest, itt elektromos zenét váltva akusztikus zenét játszott. 2000-ben Tátrai Tiborral megalapítja a Latin Duót, latinos témára zenélnek. 2009-ben újjáalakult a Dinamit. Testvére Szűcs Judith énekesnő, Szűcs Annamária, Szűcs László, és Szűcs Bálint.   Gál Péter sokak szerint az „ördög hegedűse”. Komolyzenei pályán kezdte.  Az ex Kormorán Együttes legsikeresebb periódusának alkotó tagja egészen 1990-ig. Több élvonalbeli zenekar pályára állítója volt, mint producer és lemezkiadó igazgató. 2005-ben a Kormorán Memory Band megalapítója. Kálmán György Rock operák világából cseppent a rock életbe. A saját formációja a Pandora együttesben énekelt Dinamit és P Box számokat. Majd Dinamitban vette át Vikidál Gyula szerepét. It's just he's getting more attention in the last year than I think he had before." Plus, Molly and co-host Andy Levy run through even more Republican fuckery, starting with Trump's fear of fruit. "If you're that worried about tomatoes, I guess you just assume that everything is very dangerous and you might as well give everyone guns' jokes Molly.Finally, Marc Caputo of NBC explains what's happening in the great state of Florida, where "conservatives are a lot more Trumpy "now. "In 2016 when Donald Trump won people thought it was a fluke. And then in 2018, when Ron DeSantis won by less than half a point, they're like, 'okay, Andrew Gillum, his gubernatorial opponent was a flawed opponent. And then in 2020, Donald Trump won so big here by a bigger margin than Obama did in 2008 and that kind of got conservatives or Republicans to realize, 'there is nothing to fear from Democrats anymore in Florida, let's keep pushing the envelope.'
