Was wäre so alles möglich?
World of Warcraft bietet uns Spielern eine riesige Welt, die erforscht werden will.

Welcome to another installment of “The Chronicles of Gadgett and Caddfael” a series of stories told to me, Toshmifune, by Brother Caddfael, a gnome monk who has retired to the Tian Monastery, about his amazing adventures with Gadgett, a gnomish engineer who has a knack for getting involved in some real mysteries around Azeroth. This week Brother Caddfael shares one of their adventures in Kul Tiras. Recorded live at The Lazy Turnip Inn in the village of Halfhill, the Valley of the Four Winds in beautiful Pandaria!
Topic: World of Warcraft This week, we start the process of learning about one of my favorite games of the last decade, and Mom gets to come and journey with me on it. We’re learning about World of Warcraft, and while we can’t talk about everything, we’ll certainly give you a good idea of what it’s all about! Tutorial MMORPG – Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game Developed and Created by Blizzard Entertainment, now Activision Blizzard Interactive. Based on previous MMOs, like Runescape, Ultima Online, Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies, and many other game. Personal Favorite were Phantasy Star Online and Ragnarok Online Blizzard knows how to distill the core, fun elements of a game, rebuild it in their own image and what is fun about it, and then paint a rich narrative over the entire game to bring it to life. Blizzard is well known for their Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo franchises. A good studio that puts out quality games. History Beginning development in 1999-2000 around the same time as development on Warcraft 3. Elements from Warcraft 3 helped shape the story, character, world, and races of the upcoming World of Warcraft. Announced in 2001, released in late fall of 2004. Immediate success based of studio’s previous work and franchise of Warcraft a few years earlier. The game was a worldwide success, and quickly became the most popular and largest game in history. Additional expansion are released every two years to provide new mechanics, character classes and/or races, new locations to visit, and new stories/lore. Vanilla/Classic (2004) Initial incarnation of the game. Story takes place on Azeroth, a fictional, fantasy world with two major factions trying to bide for control over the world: The Alliance(Humans, Dwarfs, Gnomes, & Night Elves) The Horde (Orcs, Trolls, Tauren, &Undead(Forsaken)) Each control major areas of two continents and war against each other in an eternal struggle. Original story focused on a Dragon lord trying to come to power. Blood gods of the Trolls seeking to corrupt the world. Ancient bugs awakening from their slumber. And the Undead returning to finish the job. Classic versions of the original game were recently released in August of 2019 to allow players to play the original version of the game. The Burning Crusade (2006) Set in the world of Outland, the former home of Orcs. Alliance recruits the Dranaei. Horde recruits the Blood Elves. Story has us fighting against the Burning Legion, the universal evil bad guys set on destroying all life. Eventually to fight a big bad named Illidan Introduction of Flying in game Wrath of the Lich King (2008) Set on the continent of Northrend Introduced a new player class (Death Knights) for all races Story follows forcing trying to subdue the big bad Lich King from Warcraft 3 Marked what many feel is the high point of the game. 12 Million Subscribers high. Cataclysm (2010) Revamped the 1-60 game world, drastically altering the landscape of the game to allow flying and new game effects. Alliance recruits the Worgen. Horde recruit a faction of Goblins Some class/race combinations rebalanced for more options. Story follows heroes trying to stop the dragon ‘Deathwing’ from destroying the world. He’s the one that caused the world to sunder, otherwise known in game as ‘The Cataclysm’. New world also introduced a more dynamic story that would begin to play out over multiple expansions and lead in to the next one over time. Mists of Pandaria (2012) Set in the land of Pandaria, a place hidden in mist until the Cataclysm revealed it. Alliance and Horde recruit Panderians, New class known as the monk introduced. Story follows the Alliance and Horde bring war to a new place that hadn’t seen it and causing a mess. Eventually capped off with the Leader of the Horde trying to start a genocide of his own faction and his eventual downturn. Warlords of Draenor (2014) Returned to Outland before it became Outland, and even went back in time. Introduction of Garrisons as a major feature. Story followed form warchief going back in time to before the orcs were corrupted, and trying to build the Horde he always wish it would be. We would stop the new horde from advancing in to our world and taking it over. Game quickly begins to slow down, with the game being less than well received and considered lackluster. Entire raid content/patch was dropped. Legion (2016) Set in the Broken Isle, a lost location where the Burning Legion has returned thanks to Gul’dan from last expansion being sent to our world. Introduced the Demon Hunters to the game. Revamp of all Classes and specs to create dynamic, individual game play, and Order Halls. Story follows us trying to stop the burning Legion of returning and putting an end to their campaign once and for all. Many people happy about this expansion and considered a new high point. Battle for Azeroth (2018) Current expansion. Set on islands of Kul Tiras and Zandalar, forgotten lands in wow lore. We recruit new allied races to assist: Alliance gets Light Forged Dranaei, Void Elves, Dark Iron Dwarfs, Mechagon Gnomes, and Kul Tirans Horde get High Mountain Tauren, Nightborne, Mag’har Orcs, Vulpera, and Zandalari Trolls. Story initially starts as a continuation of the Horde vs Alliance, but quickly find the new WarchiefSylvanas trying to kill everyone for a secret agenda. Continued on success of Legion in story and gameplay. Shadowlands (2020) New expansion set in the land of the dead. Revamp of Order Halls and revamp of character abilities. Changing leveling process back to 60 cap level, making each expansion the 10-50 experience. Story revolves around Sylvanas opening up a portal/hole to the shadowlands, but for unknown reasons. Planned for 3rd quarter of 2020. Classes: Warriors – Heavy Plate soldiers, good at all weapons, great at tanking. Paladins – Holy Warriors, can do close combat, plus tanking, and Healing. Death Knights – Unholy knights, good at tanking, but channeling unholy skills to do damage Shamans – Nature warriors that call upon the raw elements to attack and heal. Hunters – Similar to rangers, good with all long range combat Rogues – Typical thief, can hide in stealth and strike enemies with ease. Druids – Shape-shifter that rely on nature magic to transform in to either healers, tanks, melee or ranged damage Monks – Barehanded warriors who are drunk tanks, quick melee fighters, or mystical healers. Demon Hunters – Similar to Illidan, these are warriors infused with demonic energy that can also be tanks Mage – Typical wizard channeling the fire, ice, or arcane magic Warlocks – Dark wizards that use fel and shadow to summon demons to do their bidding. Priests – Holy wizards that excel at healing, but have an unholy damage. Things to do in game: Leveling/Alts – Common is to level your character until max level, or start a new character and level up all over again Dungeons – 5 man groups tackling various smaller issues, usually relating/theming to current events/expansion Raids – 10-25 man groups tackling bigger dungeons, almost always related to the current events/story Player Vs Player – various areas, themed objectives, and open world fights between the Horde and Alliance. Pet Battles – Introduced in Cataclysm, think Pokemon with your in game pets Dailies – series of objectives that can be completed daily for various rewards Transmog – Hunting Gear or looks from various sources/objectives Role Playing – Popular amongst roleplay servers, allowing character to act out stories with their characters.

May not happen til next week just because of other things going on IRL. Also mentioned “making further improvements to the ways Emissaries reward gear”. When new Azerite Armor is introduced in “BfA Season 2” (Patch 8.1), armor that currently only has 2 possible traits will get a third. Continuing to work on the individual traits themselves - balancing out those who want more generic traits for wider applicability, vs. those who want to fine-tune traits to specs or situations The first problem - overall availability -- will be hotfixed in before 8.1. The third trait slot and the new abilities won’t come in until the patch. 8.1 news Players beyond level 110 will be able to enter Legion era raids in LFR difficulty Achievements: Noblegarden: “Shake Your Bunny Maker” is being changed to place rabbit ears upon any character over level 18, not just female characters. Show 2 I want to thank you all so much for the love and support! It really means a lot that the first show was so well received and that you all welcomed me back into the podcasting and wow-community. You guys are the best! This week I talk to Marty from The Blue Recluse podcast about all things warcraft and we talk a lot about bfa. If you want to know more about Marty and his podcasts, go to: https://dragonpoweredstudio.eu/ And you can follow him on twitter: @unamithil How was my week in warcraft? - BFA hit; what did I do – plus topic of the week; my first impressions of bfa - levelling horde - leveling alliance - areas and my opinions on them There's also a new look to the Warcraft app! Topic of the week: First impressions of BFA What the listeners said (Email and tweets): @knightveil: Probably missed the deadline, but the horde side questing has been enjoyable. Only bugs I've found are a weird "missing dialog" bug and mobs randomly resetting during combat. Otherwise it's been good. Darkspear Revolutionary Ligerwolf: Will only comment on Vol'dun as its the only zone i've complete so far. Here goes, the quests are just all over the place, No clear indication which is the main story and which are the side quests.. You complete 2 or 3, BAM, you get 5 more. And its like this the entire way. What I've quested in Nazmir, I am enjoying it so far. I like it more than Voldum aka side quest gallore zone. @Exclavior: I’m loving Kul Tiras. The sights and sounds around Boralus have me yearning for a trip to the coast IRL. The aesthetics are just stunning!! Kristen @Disneygirl85: I'm having so much fun! I love how big Boralus is and how the kul tirans talk is magical. Darryl from the Training Dummies podcast: I'm loving everything about it so far. Bwonsamdi is just plain awesome. Ringmaster Kevin from the Darkmoon herald podcast: Trolls are awesome!!!!! Echoess GG: I like the story telling and questing more than legion. The dungeons were also fun, but it was primarily due to their new-ness. Ryakkan: Drustvar is gorgeous and eerie, but I love it. Put your cameras on it's farthest distance setting and just sit back for some gorgeous scenery. Cmdr Moogyver from Spare Parts: So far, only 2 hours in (had to work, and then server shutdown happened right in the middle) but so far its been amazing. the cutscenes! Questions next time: How do you pick your main and I still want to hear what you think about bfa so far. Any war whispers you want to share? Where to find the show www.whispersofwar.podbean.com/ twitter: @whispers_of_war email: whispersofwarpodcast@gmail.com We need guests, tips and positive stories and of course community highlights. Felt that artifact weapon system was interesting in the beginning of the expansion but not at the end of it. Lots of choices in the beginning and none in the end. Discussion about making certain things accountwide -- seemed to think things were pretty OK the way they were. Too much accountwide stuff and characters lose identity, but opening areas, flying, etc., seem to be good kept accountwide. Battle for Azeroth Mag’har Orcs and Iron Dwarf allied races will be available after completing the Battle for Azeroth war campaign. Zandalari and Kul’Tiras will be unlocked later in the expansion. BFA alpha lasting longer than in the past. Beta polishes features and features are still being added to alpha. Six emissaries for each faction - 3 home continent, two neutral (Tortollan and Voice of Azeroth) and a War Faction with quests on the enemy continent. 8.0 prepatch Likely a few weeks before the expansion Will introduce the Burning of Teldrassil and Battle for Lordaeron. May be new mounts themed around Night Elves and Forsaken in conjunction with this event. New details on PvP New world PvP system called War Mode: players toggle PvP in a capitol city on any server. This will put them in a separate server shard, away from the PvE characters. War Mode gives extra rewards and Azerite, and also allows access to special world PvP events. PvP gear system revamp: conquest point system returning in the form of a bar you fill up to earn new gear each week. When you’re finished with a set, you can move up. There will be ways to skip ahead. Changes to Honor and Prestige: honor levels will be account wide. Naked and Afraid FInisher: Alcina, night elf mage -- 110

New island zones Zandalar and Kul Tiras with three areas for each Horde: Zandalar - obviously troll focused Alliance: Kul Tiras - naval power (which we’ve never seen because apparently they’re so good they can hide the most powerful navy in the world from everyone until now) New subraces: the four we mentioned on the last show plus two more (Horde: Highland Tauren, Nightborne and Zandalari Troll. Alliance: Void Elf, Lightforged Draenei and Dark Iron Dwarves). Will get 6 new character slots on each server You have to open these subraces via quests -- once opened it’s accountwide Subraces start at level 20. You can race-switch into them using Blizzard game services, but if you run one from 20 to 120 you get an achievement plus special heritage armor transmog 3-person Island Cooperative challenge gameplay Changing mini scenarios on islands Would like to have seen this scalable to other size groups - 3 is awkward 20-person raids called Warfronts to claim strategic locations this is a PvE system, not PvP, “inspired by classic Warcraft RTS battles” (Ren: Damn good thing or the Horde on Whisperwind is screwed) Artifact amulet (Heart of Azeroth) instead of an artifact weapon - a system with a sort of mini-talent tree used to select and empower abilities - replacements for the Artifact, Artifact Power and Netherlight Crucible systems from Legion Powered by Azerite, will automatically absorb Azerite when it’s nearby Helm, chest, and shoulders will be empowered through Heart of Azeroth Probably will need an entire episode just on this - but practical upshot is the artifact weapons are going away and this is the replacement PVP/PVE server distinction is going away - now it will be selectable Internal sharding allows PVP-flagged players to see/group with only one another, and PVE-unflagged players to see/group only with one another All servers will run under same rules of engagement Only place you can flag PVP is in capital cities - can’t flag PVP on the fly No randomly flagged people running around PvP gives added bonuses in addition to added risk Item level decrease incoming Not exactly the warlords “stat squish” where numbers were reduced across the board Numbers from the Dungeon Journal in the demo at Blizzcon - 880 items were showing up as 215, 900 as 235, 1000 as 335 Basically trying to make numbers a bit more meaningful Presumably mobs and such will be scaled as well -- functionally should not change, just how it’s displayed New model changes incoming for several character races - Orcs and Trolls were demoed to choose between a hunched or upright character). Mostly focused on original races, plus blood elf and draenei. Goblins and Worgen will get makeovers later. Merely a Setback: A Podcast about Storytelling in the World of Warcraft
In this episode Sharku, Shoeboots and Jared discuss the origins and history of the Order of the Silver Hand, as well debating the use of Artifact Weapons as a storytelling device in WoW. We speculate about the future of Artifacts Weapons, and WoW in general. We also discuss the 1000 Years War audio drama, followed by a brief and futile attempt by Shoeboots to convince everyone else that the Mythic Dungeon Invitational was great.
