Praises or critics can be send here! Also if there's anything you wish to hear about please send your requests here! The matchmaking rating system in World of Warcraft PvP has become a frustrating obstacle for players who genuinely love competitive gameplay. As ratings have deflated by nearly 1,000 points since Shadowlands, achievements that were once attainable now feel impossibly distant for many dedicated players. The current system essentially punishes early-season participation, creating a barren landscape where queue times grow longer and matchmaking becomes increasingly unbalanced. Why struggle against multi-gladiator opponents at 2200 rating when waiting until season's end means facing less skilled opponents at the same rating? This perverse incentive structure has created a vicious cycle: fewer players participate during most of the season, leading to worse matchmaking, which further discourages participation. Even as someone who climbed to Gladiator in Shadowlands, I find myself facing significantly more challenging competition at lower ratings in the current environment. What's particularly disheartening is the stark contrast between PvE and PvP development. Each patch brings new raids, dungeon rotations, and features like Delves, while PvP receives minimal attention. When new patches are announced, competitive play often merits mere seconds of discussion before moving on to PvE content. Even community resources like Wowhead provide extensive class guides that completely omit PvP considerations. The solution could be as simple as adopting systems that have proven successful in other competitive games. An Overwatch-style rating structure with clear thresholds for achievements would encourage consistent participation throughout the season and make alt play more appealing. But more than any specific change, what the PvP community truly desires is communication – some acknowledgment that our concerns are being heard and considered.Hope you all enjoy and hope you relate to any of these stories. And I will speak to you all in the next episode!Want some 3D printed Merch, find it here!https://pigandwhistletales.etsy.comSupport the show here:https://www.buzzsprout.com/1196870/supportpatreon.com/Pigandwhistlehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/PigandWhistleSocials :Twitch : https://www.twitch.tv/pigandwhistletalesYoutube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAOi6rHO3x90lOmmb82Jv1wWebsite : https://www.pigandwhistletales.com/Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/pigandwhistletales/Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/PigAndWhistleTalesTry out Buzzsprout yourself! https://www.buzzsprout.com/?referrer_id=1154066Listen to the podcast on other platforms:https://www.listennotes.com/podcasts/pig-whistle-tales-from-azeroth-gabriel-nsa902LrQVw/https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/pig-whistle-tales-from-azeroth-1315927https://open.spotify.com/show/5ZTkLtQvRSm4PStUfZquWkhttps://podcastaddict.com/podcast/3032607ThSupport the showSupport the show here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1196870/support patreon.com/Pigandwhistle https://www.buymeacoffee.com/PigandWhistle

Episode 22 – Bookending Gallywix, Best NPC Tournament, and Putting Light into the World Show Notes Welcome to Episode 22! – 3:06 Big thanks to Ease, the host of Realm Maintenance, for interviewing me for that podcast a couple weeks ago; great conversation about WoW, 11.1, and Solo Queue; check it out on your podcast feed of choice or (hopefully) it will hit YouTube in video form A trimmed down episode for “early” March Goblin starting zone revision 1 discussion Brief news segment The Main Event – Tournament of 64 launch! But first, indulge me for a few minutes… Special Topic: Podcasthon, Watts of Love, and Raising Awareness of the Power of Charitable Giving, All Through Podcasts Like This One – 7:30 Podcasthon is a global effort running this week on more than 1,000 podcasts worldwide in which podcasts are choosing a charity of their choice to highlight. This is part of a wider effort to raise awareness for the continued need for altruism and charitable giving in the world. I chose to have Solo Queue to participate because I agree with that message of doing something in your power to help in your own way. Solo Queue is highlighting Watts of Love, a non-profit dedicated to giving solar lamps to households and communities that lack electrical power all over the world. Watts of Love also helps reinvest the money saved my not purchasing kerosene or other power sources. Solo Queue and my family are donating $100 to Watts of Love because I am impressed with their mission and their reputation as a charity. My call to action for you, the Solo Crew of listeners, is to find a way for you to lend assistance to those in need in a way that is meaningful to you. If it is also donating to Watts of Love, great! Go for it! If it is donating to a charity of your choice, be it local or one with a wider mission, also great! Maybe it is volunteering. You may have skills that can benefit a charity just as much, if not more, than money. Please do what you can. That is my request. Drop me a message or email and let me know what you did. Thanks. Watts of Love: https://www.wattsoflove.org/ Podcasthon: https://podcasthon.org/ “What have you done lately?” – 18:17 Revisiting the Goblin starting zone storyline in Kezan and the Lost Isles by starting my 65th character (yes, that is the cap); similarities to Undermine; story line is long and interesting; why does Thrall choose to put Gallywix back in charge and how does he have that power? My thoughts on the full story of 11.1 [THERE WILL BE STORY SPOILERS], including the Delves, Operation Floodgate dungeon (on Follower mode), Liberation of Undermine raid (NOT on Follower mode, just Story Mode - #followerraids), and the final storyline, Homecoming Delve gearing video on Icy Veins: https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/news/get-item-level-639-649-gear-every-week-fast-optimal-delve-gearing-strategy/ My idea for Blizzard – Solo Questing Mode for an immersive experience! News – 1:04:34 Video from Blizzard: Building Azeroth: The Liberation of Undermine. Check it out! Lots of visual effects creation talk and that audio and sound creation, a topic near to my podcasting heart! Another Video from Blizz: 11 Solo Activities in Undermine. Hosted by HazelNuttyGames. She walks through activities solo players can tackle. Huge housing update. The WoWhead article is here: https://www.wowhead.com/news/how-decorating-your-house-will-work-in-player-housing-new-dye-feature-375821. Focused on interior decoration, the level of detail and customization exceeds what most of us were expecting. And BlizzCon will return! Well, in 18 months or so. Mark your calendars for September 12-13, 2026. You might even see me there for my first BlizzCon. Main Topic: The First Annual Solo Queue Tournament of 64 to Determine the Best NPC in WoW – 1:18:02 64 NPCs square off against each other in a bracket-style tournament to determine who is “the best.” That can mean whatever you want. Voting determines who advances to the next round. Here are the directions: Each round will be live on social media (Bluesky, Twitter/X, Insta, Facebook, Threads) for 3 days. Reply to a post or DM or email me at soloqueuewow@gmail.com with your votes for who wins each matchup in each round. List names or even just the numbers of your choices. First round only – can send a full bracket of predictions for all rounds up to the champion in addition to your votes. After 3 days, I will tally votes, update the bracket, and post the next round matchups If you want to hear about the NPCs participating, I walk through the matchups by region: East – 1:28:41 North – 1:40:06 South – 1:50:49 West – 2:06:27 Outro – 2:21:07 Thanks to Blizzard for the amazing music and sound, to OGRE for intro/outro music, my lovely and supportive wife, and you for listening. Support the show at Patreon.com/SoloQueueWoW Thank you to patrons, Andrew, Righteous Bandy, ThatSkyGuy, Darkblade Cyn, Snek of Vol'dun and Jon! Episode 11 – Up All Night Show Notes Welcome to Episode 11! – 3:25 (10:00 pm) The goal of this episode was to throw age to the wind and unwisely pull an all-nighter enjoying the final days of Dragonflight and recording an episode. The segments of the show are broken up by hours in the all-nighter! Stick around to find out how it goes. July News – 7:43 (11:00 pm) Midsummer Fire Festival – I did lots of levelling and proved that the new bad luck protection system works perfectly fine by getting the Fire Festival Drake armor on my very first attempt. Sorry Jason from the Starting Zone. Thanks Blizz, but remember me again at Brewfest. Pre-patch for The War Within, the tenth expansion, launches this Tuesday (today)! Long maintenance is a guarantee. Be patient. Remember two things. First, the pre-patch event for 11.0 is called the Radiant Echoes and it DOES NOT LAUNCH on Tuesday. Second, Warbands launch when you log in and creating yours will take time on your first login. Preview of pre-patch – Really, the only other news worth mentioning at this moment is the rest of the pre-patch. Wowhead article: https://www.wowhead.com/guide/the-war-within/pre-patch-overview All DF raids and world bosses become awakened Skyriding is available Cross-realm guilds are available Leveling requirements reduced, especially from 60 to 70 End of Dragonflight – 31:32 (12:00 am) End of expac checklist. What's yours? Mine is being pieced together as we chat Thoughts on Renown - felt like a big burden and tell me how it is different from reputations, Derek Zoolander. If I make a Blue Steel joke in the show notes, does it ever get read? WoD and DF similarities based on comments by Denathar on his podcast Azeroth United – 2 expansions when developers were looking ahead to a game-changing next expansion, one more successful than the other Follower dungeons – all benefit, no downside, which means…wait for it…#giveusFollowerRaids TWW Topics – 52:40 (1:00 am) Really just a rant about Pathfinder and support for “Steady Flying” Delve Testing and Preview 1:01:54 (2:00 am) Playing beta characters is tough Hanging with Brann as your support Delves are a bit of a puzzle, a series of quests, objectives, etc. as we have seen in instanced scenarios/activities before, but maybe the best version of its predecessors Has some Torghast like power-ups here and there. Brann suggests pausing to sit by the fire after combat to hear and get you well fed. There are boxes and chests with helpful gear and respawn points. Boss at the end with a treasure room full of rewards Hearing voices and then a Remix update – 1:12:01 (3:00 am) Wait, did we make it? Man, it felt good to buy out the mount vendor! Also, I didn't mind running groups in MoP Remix because there is literally no interactions with others and no challenge to the content, virtually at any level. Raid of the Month: Mogu-Shan Vaults – 1:22:12 (4:00 am) The primary drop is the Astral Cloud Serpent mount, one of my faves and a previous target of mine. Lorewalker Cho and some slow to come to life bosses make this a slow farm, but the mount is great if you didn't get it in MoP Remix. And in Remix, there is an amazing golden version called the Astral Emperor's Serpent. Go get it! Final thoughts on Dragon Flight and the direction of WoW – 1:34:10 (5:00 am – close to dawn of a different day) DF saved WoW as Blizzard pulled itself out of a terrible place; Blizzcon 2023 ended my debate over whether to continue with the game and it resurrected Solo Queue because of the three pillars: Delves, Warbands, and Follower Dungeons. Dragon Flight brought the story of WoW back to Azeroth and the familiar after the Shadowlands. Follower Dungeons might be one of the few features launched in WoW to have no real negative reaction, benefits for solo players, and even benefits for group players. Extend that Follower Dungeon tech to a Raid setting. Coming solo features remind me of Mage Tower in Legion, my single proudest moment (beating the Feral Druid challenge). Idea of adding a small level of challenge to old dungeon/raid farming, but not before Follower Raids! Lastly, Warbands, the big change that arrives with pre-patch. Denathar of Azeroth United said this is the shift from a game that recognizes what the character accomplishes to a game that recognizes what the player accomplishes. 61 characters will be in my Warband soon, all sharing their loot. DF brought WoW back and the future looks great! Outro – 1:48:20 (Sunrise!) Thanks to Blizzard and OGRE for audio, my lovely wife, and you for listening. NOMADS AIE in The Division 2. The Clan is doing well and having a lot of fun in the game. We're rank 17 (out of 30) with 27 members total. The first post-launch content update was released this past Friday and unlocks the new World Tier 5 that features the latest Stronghold: Tidal Basin. Also, the first "Apparel Event" titled "Invasion" is running until May 2nd. During this time you can earn up to 30 apparel items. Should you earn them all during the event you'll be awarded a special apparel item: The Black Tusk uniform. These 30 items will be available in the usual apparel caches and store after the event, but you can only earn the special Black Tusk uniform during the event. Apparel items include clothing, weapon skins, and emotes. The first raid, an 8 player activity, will go live on April 25th, later this month and our clan members are eagerly awaiting it. Get in and gear up now. Ask about the game in AIE Discord's #thedivision2 text channel. Receiving an invite is as simple as asking for one there for your UPlay ID. You can also look up the clan, "AIE Nomads", and request an invite that way. WoW The AIE Alliance guild is growing with 119 characters currently. Reminder, you just need to submit an application in Umami, leave the Faction as Horde and the officers will correct it when reviewing the application. Don't worry about the level either, just race/class and name and you're set. We are still having issue with gmail accounts, so check the LFO channel for acceptance, as the officers will announce when they've accepted those applications. In game news, the Artifact Knowledge ramp up will continue for the next 4 weeks to make sure everyone is ready for the 8.2 content. A number of players have reached level 50 on their necklace and currently you do not get anything for completing WQ's that award just azerite. Patch 8.2 is soon to be on the PTR (encrypted currently) and several outlets have had interviews with Ion Hazzikostas on what's to come, mostly around systems, flying and very little on content spoilers. WoWHead and MMO-Champion both have good write-ups and links to the originals, though, be warned,

Some highlights from the PAX East announcement - Dark Iron Dwarves and Mag'har Orcs will be the first two new Allied Races. Play through the War Campaign at release and unlock them. Since we were gone both patch 5.8 and 5.8a dropped with a loud thud or clank depending on who you talk to. Major highlights were the Conquest overhaul, the return of followers and the final boss of GoTM, Izax. Links to both sets of notes are below,

We are at the max clan level and receiving all perks for the current season. WoW Patch 7.3.2 dropped since our last show and has a lot of tweaks to several character classes. Notes can be found here, https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/21121541 , but one of Tetsemi's favorite updates is that they added a Primal Sagerite vendor to the Vindicar so you can trade in Primal Sargerite for Argus materials. This is much better than, for Tetsemi, than trying to prospect ore to get the right color gem, instead you can just buy it for 10 Primal Sagerites. There are also a bunch of changes that didn't make it into the patch notes and WoWHead has them all - https://www.wowhead.com/news=274728/undocumented-changes-in-patch-7-3-2 One of my favorite ones is that they fixed it so you can turn in Argus quests no matter where the Vindicar is located. Personally, I got used to moving the ship to all three locations just to make sure I wasn't missing any quests and to do the turn-ins. Also,

This patch brings another round of UI element fixes, a new raid, a pet dungeon scenario, and too many more things to mention. A good write-up on the 7.2 patch is found over on WoWHead (http://www.wowhead.com/news=259395/patch-7-2-ptr-starts-today-and-patch-recap) Patch 7.1.5 also brought in micro-holidays, the first of which is active now through Tuesday the 24th. Call of the Scarab is a micro-holiday celebrating the opening the gates of Ahn'Qiraj (On Caraj) during the classic World of Warcraft time period. Run AQ20 and AQ40 to get commendations to help your side (the Horde) win the event which will be represented by a Horde banner flying over the raids until the holiday comes around next year. There are also repeatable meat turn-ins and if you're not yet exalted with Cenarian Circle you can scour Silithis for cultists and summon elemental lords to raise your reputation. We are our own guests tonight, chatting about AIE in 2016 and what we are looking forward to in 2017. We will be doing that shortly, but first- the news! AIE News NOMADS Just a reminder that the Nomads' Minecraft server has been shut down, but Stigg has made the world files available to anyone who wants them, be warned, it's a large (5.8 G) download. Link can be accessed in the forum post in the Nomads section of the forums - http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/57344-shutting-down-the-nomads-minecraft-server/ WoW Are you ready for some football, I mean Nighthold? Patch 7.1.5 drops on Tuesday, make sure you have any important world quests completed before patch day as world quests will be changing then. The Brawler's guild is returning, Mists of Pandaria dungeons added to the Timewalking event, micro holidays are being introduced (check your in game calendar for dates), and a large number of class changes (especially to secondary stats). A link to the details is in the show notes https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/20457780/patch-7-1-5-arrives-on-january-10 Another big change, especially for those people with Altitis that have been feeling a bit left out this expansion cycle, is the ability to catch up on Artifact Knowledge. If you have a character at AK 25, you will be able to purchase tomes for order hall resources that allow your alts to catch up to AK 20. A good write-up on the process is available over on WoWHead - http://www.wowhead.com/artifact-knowledge-guide - many thanks to Perculia for her hard work on writing and keeping this guide up to date with the changes. Also, this gives everyone that's doing progression raiding, about a week to get adjusted to the new changes in their classes as the Nighthold raid opens on January 17th, just one week after the 7.1.5 patch drops. Want to hangout with a bunch of guildies and give the Alliance leader's some heartburn? Join Grimcow on January 15th for a return of C.O.O.P. Next up is Hallow's End, which starts on October 18 and goes November 1st. They have streamlined the event- gone are the days of hourly trick or treating for a chance at a rare mask or vanity item. Instead, there is a new vendor and daily system, similar to Noblegarden. There is a new pet, the Feline Familiar- and old favourites like the Sinister Squashling are now purchasable. And, there is a Creepy Crate available from a short questline AND a Little Wickerman available from the vendors, which functions as a campfire. All of the info is available on WOWhead and the forums. http://www.wowhead.com/event=324/hallows-end The Day of the Dead follows Hallow's End and this year it runs from November 1st to November 3rd. October also brings Lich King time walking dungeons, from October 21st to October 27th. Get your old raid group together and relive the fun- or experience it for the first time. http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/56774-arkinventory-rule-for-warmill-and-salvage-yard-sets So as an avid user of ArkInventory for my bags and an overly organized person, I tend to use ArkInventory rules to put stuff in specific locations in the inventory screen. You can collect transmog sets from the Salvage Yard and buy transmog sets from the Warmill. To keep those from getting lost in my general inventory I've made two rules for ArkInventory that will allow you to choose a location for that rule and the items will show up there. It's faction agnostic and has all the sets per rule, so you only have to set it once on one character and it will be in effect for all your characters. Frustrated with Random LFRs, looking for something fun to do in game, want to get your RP on? This week we are joined by special guests Hoots and Lanctharus who are here to talk to us about AIE in EVE. Welcome! Ok, we'll be digging into EVE shortly, but first, let's cover this week's news... AIE News Community We need your guildie of the month nominations! Since the officers can't be everywhere and see everything that everyone does, Jedhai needs you guys (yes, you AIE!) to give him some nominations. There is an ongoing post in the community section of the fourms, you can also PM him as well, or send an email to gotm@aie-guild.org. And, speaking of guildie of the month, congrats to our winners from July: Khatlyn and Tanaria from Final Fantasy XIV. Khatlyn and Tanaria are married in real life, and in game they are both super helpful people. To help everyone else get know our awesome guildmates better, Jedhai conducted a short interview with them, available on the guild website, AIE-guild.org. http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/56508-august-2015-guildie-of-the-month-nominations https://aie-guild.org/guildies-of-the-month-part-1-khatlyn-and-tanaria And, in just under three weeks, the celebration of all things Frogpants will be occurring at the Snowbird Ski resort near beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah! Get more information at Nerdtacular.com, including the schedule of events, a list of guest, and a link for the last few remaining tickets. Also, take a look on the Frogpants forums, there is a whole section dedicated to Nerdtacular, including people looking to coordinate rides! Also, there is a meetup for the event on our meetup site. AND, if you can't go, and want to hang out with local guildies, use the meetup site to plan any Real Life guild events! the site is www.meetup.com_alea_iacta_est. http://www.meetup.com/find/?events=true&radius=Infinity&eventFilter=my WoW Summer of Love is coming! We are looking to have the schedule for our annual Summer of Love soon, though due to a scheduling conflict with the tail end of Nerdtacular, we will be pushing things back by a week. But don't worry, A COOP, a Wedding, and shenanigans are being planned. And, of course, the very important Remembrance Day! And even though San Diego Comicon didn't give the fans what they were dying for (Trailer!), there was a fair bit of WOW Movie News- including posters featuring both Durotan and Lothar. Wowhead and the Nerdist both have a good wrap up of the panel- plus, there has been a promise of a real preview in November, probably at Blizzcon. And, every report from SDCC has said that the footage was amazing. SWTOR Not related to SWTOR directly, but additional amazing news from SDCC- there was a three minute Episode 7 behinds the scene reel that was shown at Comicon and quickly put up on youtube. It MAY of driven a number of adults to tears. Seriously, if you have not seen it, go watch it now! Are you in SWTOR and want the Cantina Speeder? Some of our generous guild mates have been kind enough to share extra codes on the forums. http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/56104-cantina-speeder-code This week on SWTOR Escape Podcast #98, @AIESema, @MaxTheGrey and Astromech EPC-98 talk about the official and unofficial community resources available for SWTOR outside the game: podcasts, websites, videos, blogs, streams and tools. AIE NEWS In case you missed it, AIE has launched two fundraisers to benefit the guild. The first is the Pass the Hat fund drive to cover the costs of our web hosting, meetup.com site, and other expenses a guild our size generates. The second is the AIE BlizzCon Guild Hall Kick Starter Scott Johnson announced on this show last week, which will fund the amazing AIE gathering we hold every year alongside BlizzCon. The Guild Hall has been epic in past years, and this year, the kickstarter will make sure it's even more amazing than before. If you're interested in contributing to either fund drive, please see the forums for more details. (Note: the Kickstarter is not out yet, but keep your eyes out for it!) Hey you graphic artists out there, AIE is looking for someone to create a set of icons for our UMAMI membership database website. We're currently using images shamelessly stolen off the net, but we want to do better than that, and come up with images that are unique to our community. If you've got the pixel pushing power, all the details can be found in the forums. Meetups! This week we've got several Meetups being suggested. Siv is looking to hold a meetup at the Yard House in Lakewood, Colorado on Sept 28th; Aset has suggested a meetup during the Browncoat Ball in Phoenix on Oct 4th; and Psyanide is looking to gather together during the Nashville Comic Con which runs from October 18th to 20th. If you're anywhere near those locations, see the relative posts in the Community Discussion section of our forums, and of course, don't forget we have a Meetup.com site which is perfect for planning get-together. Of course we've been talking all about World of Warcraft and especially the new zone, the Timeless Isle. One of the great things about the island is all the rares that spawn non-stop and drop epic loot. There are so many, it's a little overwhelming, and nearly impossible to figure out where one is before it gets killed. Well Romulo has come to our aid, and posted a Wowhead map showing all the rare names and spawn locations. Study it well, there are a lot of free 496 purples waiting for you! Jedis, this one is for you. Even though Star Wars: The Old Republic is free to play, they still offer a subscription, with paying subscribers getting many benefits that Free players miss out on. Rowna just posted that the subscribers will also be getting the next expansion, Rise of the Hutt Cartel, for free! New subscribers will get it if they sign up before October 20th. Previous subscribers must have been inactive before June 14th and sign up before Oct 20th to qualify. Current subscribers must stay subscribed until Oct 20th to qualify? Confused? Of course not, the Force is strong with you! So one of the reasons to play Star Trek Online is all the cool ships, right? Well let's be frank, you can't be logged into the game ALL the time, but Perfect World entertainment is giving away 3 different 1 year ‘subscriptions' so you can collect your ships OUT of the game as well! Check out the official site for more details! You know you want your Dreadnaught class starship keeping yer papers in order, check it out! Each of the 3 prizes is 24 ships! Podcast Spotlight This week we're sending a shout-out to Johnny Feisty, host of the TV CoPilot podcast. It's the comedy podcast that brings you a beside the scenes look at your favorite shows. If you like your information that's entertaining, but not necessarily informational,
