For all the handwringing about saving democracy, government "of the people, by the people, and for the people" has given way to bureaucracy. Now, government of, by, and for unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats rules America. But the 40 Days for Life Institute of Law & Justice is fighting back! On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, our general counsel, Matt Britton, gives an update on the legal landscape of abortion... ...as well as how 40 Days for Life is: -Working alongside law enforcement to protect unborn children in states like Missouri and North Dakota; -Catching Planned Parenthood's IRS violations--and holding the abortion giant accountable; -Ending the legal persecution of 40 Days for Life leaders; -Much more!
In this episode of the Biblical Anarchy Podcast, Jacob Winograd continues addressing common objections to Christian libertarianism and anarchism. Picking up from a previous installment, Jacob works through a rapid-fire list of objections related to economics, justice, civil governance, and societal concerns. Drawing from biblical principles, covenant theology, and libertarian ethics, Jacob refutes ideas that anarchism inevitably leads to lawlessness, exploitation, or neglect of the poor. He emphasizes that many of these criticisms unfairly compare an idealized state to a skeptical view of liberty, rather than assessing both systems with equal scrutiny.Jacob tackles familiar refrains like "Who will build the roads?" and "Render unto Caesar," challenging listeners to rethink their assumptions about the state's role in justice, economics, and morality. He advocates for voluntary systems of law, dispute resolution, and mutual aid, all grounded in a Christian ethic of non-aggression, proportional justice, and care for the vulnerable. Jacob also outlines how Christians can engage culture and politics without compromising biblical convictions, making this a compelling follow-up to his earlier episodes on biblical anarchy.Full Episode Show Notes at BiblicalAnarchyPodcast.comThe Biblical Anarchy Podcast is part of the Christians For Liberty Network, a project of the Libertarian Christian Institute.Audio Production by Podsworth Media.

In this episode of the Sunday Special, Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch joins us to discuss his latest book, "Over Ruled: The Human Toll of Too Much Law." With his signature judicial clarity, Justice Gorsuch explores the effects of our government's expanding federal criminal code and the real-world consequences when seemingly innocuous activities entangle citizens with federal law. Justice Gorsuch shares the stories of Americans whose livelihoods have been negatively impacted by overregulation, and why he remains an “incorrigible optimist” about the future of our nation. On this week's "TMI with Aldous Tyler", we kick off with a discussion on SCOTUS' July 1 ruling on Trump v. United States. This landmark ruling, which grants presidents immunity from prosecution when carrying out "official acts", has sparked a nationwide debate about the extent of presidential power, coming from sources as close as Justice Sotomayor. Next, we'll delve into Justice Elena Kagan's dissent on the death of the Chevron Doctrine. Kagan's scathing critique of her conservative colleagues, whom she accuses of a power grab, has sent ripples through the judicial community. Finally, we'll examine the controversial decisions by Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma to incorporate Christianity into their public schools. These states' moves to bring religion into the classroom have ignited a fiery debate about the separation of church and state. All this and more on TMI for Friday, July 05, 2024 – listen in for YOUR Cure for the Common Media!
The overturning of Roe v. Wade two years ago moved the abortion debate to the grassroots level...and to the courtroom. With the most pro-abortion administration in U.S. history and extremists in state-level governments waging war on moms, babies, and pro-lifers, we established the 40 Days for Life Institute of Law & Justice to make sure that defenseless children and the local 40 Days for Life heroes who protect them have the best and most-professional legal advocates there are. On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we review the latest fronts in the legal battle over abortion.

On October 15, Poles were called to the polls—no pun intended. The ruling Law & Justice party—or PiS in its Polish acronym—came first with a plurality of ballots and parliamentary seats, but fell short of a majority. As a result, after eight years of rule, PM Mateusz Morawiecki's party will likely be replaced by a large and disparate coalition that ranges from the far-left to the right-of-center, helmed by former PM Donald Tusk of Civic Platform. Today we will cover the race's aftermath and its implications for Europe. Are Poland's positions on Ukraine and NATO as immutable as they seem? Is the country about to mend fences with the EU, and unfreeze the approximately €100 billion in post-Covid recovery funds currently withheld by Brussels over concerns about so-called “democratic backsliding”? More importantly, will Tusk's agenda be undermined by holdouts from the previous government across the civil service and state-controlled corporations? To unpack the meaning of Poland's result, we are honored to have with us the consultant and veteran commentator of all things Polish Marek Matrazek back with us this week, along with Warsaw-based Belgian historian David Engels. As always, please rate and review Uncommon Decency on whatever platform you use and send us your comments or questions either on Twitter at @UnDecencyPod or by e-mail at undecencypod@gmail.com. We also wanted to take a moment to apologise for launching this new season belatedly. All three of us have all been dealing with personal and professional challenges, and we wanted to take the time out to ensure we returned when truly ready. We will flesh out what we have in store very soon! Enjoy the episode!
Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, 40 Days for Life participants have seen unprecedented persecution. That's why we established the 40 Days for Life Institute of Law and Justice earlier this year to protect prayer warriors' right to peacefully and lawfully pray for an end to abortion. On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we discuss why this is such a big deal--not just for pro-lifers but for all freedom-loving Americans. Now more than ever, humanitarianism is being conducted at a distance. As humanitarian efforts shift from in-kind and in-person assistance to cash- and information-based assistance, how does this change what humanitarian work looks like? Recorded on September 26, 2022, this "Matrix on Point" panel featured a group of scholars examining how technology raises new questions about the efficacy of humanitarian interventions, the human rights of recipients, and the broader power relations between donors and recipients. The panel was moderated by Laurel E. Fletcher, Clinical Professor of Law at the UC Berkeley School of Law, and Director of the International Human Rights Law Clinic. The panel included Daragh Murray, Senior Lecturer at the University of Essex Human Rights Centre & School of Law; Fleur Johns, Professor in the Faculty of Law & Justice at UNSW Sydney; and Wendy H. Wong, Principal's Research Chair, Professor, Political Science, The University of British Columbia. The panel was co-sponsored by the UC Berkeley School of Information, the Center for Technology, Society & Policy, and the Human Rights Center. Justice is a concept, a concept that can be very theoretical and abstract. But, we must ask ourselves, what does justice look like?Justice - like everything else we examine - must look like Jesus! Jesus came to fulfill justice proactively, in community, so that we might live and participate in a way that is dynamic, actively toward the fringes and margins of the system, so that those who have previously been excluded by the system might taste participation in the community. In order for that to happen, we must overturn the tables of our definitions, dismantling the static structures of ‘justice', which actually are very unjust to the poor. Come Deviate with us, as explore it means to corporately embody the sort of justice we are speaking about here, as we embrace the Christomorphic shape of justice we find in the picture of Jesus.Texts:David P. Robert Michael began his journey of purpose in 2009 after the housing market tanked taking his father's business and his parent's home with it. For the past 12 years, he has worked with hundreds of people across a wide variety of legal issues by exposing the root cause of all legal issues which begins at birth through the voluntary human economic slave system. He directs his clients to be proactive and to secure their divine inheritance thereby legally foreclosing any would-be state and federal intruders from making a claim and applying their millions of statutes, codes, rules, regulations, mandates and so on. He maintains we are all here for the evolution of our souls and this planet together…the evil and the righteous. Help us fight censorship! The word justice appears in a lot of places in the biblical record. As a community seeking to follow the pattern of Jesus – a community attempting to live in a way that is Christomporphic, that is ‘in the shape of Jesus' – we must put the idea of justice as central to our understanding of the good news as did Jesus. The trouble is, though, we often do not know what justice is. We often see justice as a ‘one-size-fits-all' rule that everyone needs to obey equally. The idea of justice needs to be parsed and better understood. Come deviate with us as we seek to better understand what justice means, especially in light of the call to those who feel prompted to follow a pathetic God.Texts:David P. Gushee & Glenn H. Several weeks ago AG Tish James announced a major crackdown on guns and weapons with the arrest of 50 Capital District residents. This week Governor Cuomo issued an Executive Order targeting gun violence. Critics however worry that such actions often primarily result in prison terms for young people of color rather than solving the problem. On April 1, 1993, 21 Secret Service agents were responsible for protecting the president during his visit to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. On their breakfast break, they visited a Denny's restaurant. And while every single officer was willing to put their lives on the line for their country and their commander-in-chief, only the white officers were served that day. In Episode 10: Discrimination, Pro Bono Senior Counsel Jonathan Abram speaks with Walter Smith, Executive Director of DC Appleseed Center for Law & Justice, about the disturbing pattern of racial bias at this major American restaurant chain. Walter also describes our work in defending the LGBTQ+ community in 1992 following an anti-gay voter referendum in Colorado.

In the attempt to bring theory to action, he works with community organizations and schools to address issues of equity, justice and abolishing the school/prison nexus. During our conversation, Dave and I discuss critical race theory, the intersection of housing and education, and charter schools.
Swallowing Camels: The Spirit of G3D says, “As the doubters and unbelievers choke on Gnat Size Verbiage. Circulating throughout the air waves the more obvious Camel Size Lies, they will Swallow with Ease. I will appoint My Angels to Perfume the areas that I desire to draw Our Enemies. Like a Jar of Honey, it will draw them near. Once they are in My Trap the truth and their stench shall appear. They will discover they are entrapped. Suddenly, their eyes will open just in time to see My Sting of Justice Declared.” It is Written: They “have neglected the weightier Matters of the Law: Justice and Mercy and Faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. Blind guides, who Strain out a Gnat and Swallow a Camel!” (Matthew 23:23b-24 NKJV) “And again, I say to you, it is easier for a Camel to go through the Eye of a Needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God” (Matthew 19:24 NKJV). As a rule, I am intrigued by any political figure serving as a caregiver. Joseph Williams, however, caught my eye more than most. He's the husband of a wife who lives with a disability as a result of a car accident, and they're the parents of two boys. Since I am the husband of a wife with severe disabilities from a car accident, and WE are the parents of two boys (I should say two grown men now!), Joseph and Palmer Williams story connected powerfully with me. THEN ...I had the privilege of talking with him on my show, HOPE FOR THE CAREGIVER, and listen to him share his story and passion to serve. We need more caregivers in political office to help advocate for families with special needs and challenges. I am glad Joseph is running for office, and I hope his story inspires others to do the same! Joseph Williams, a native Tennessean, is an attorney and founding partner of The Peacefield Group, a legal and policy consulting firm in Nashville. Prior to founding The Peacefield Group, he practiced law at the American Center for Law & Justice, advising national and international clients. His practice focuses on upholding the Constitution and keeping all levels of government accountable to the people. He has written extensively on issues of educational equity and on the dignity and rights of people with developmental disabilities, drawing poignant insights from the life of his sister, Mary. Before beginning his legal career, Joseph taught U.S. history and civics at Whites Creek High School in Nashville. As an undergraduate at Vanderbilt University, he was elected Student Body President. As a Vanderbilt Law School student, he led the Federalist Society and Christian Legal Society. Active in advocating for quality school options for all students, Joseph serves as the Chairman of the Board at STRIVE Collegiate Academy. He and his wife, Palmer, live with their two young sons in Crieve Hall, and teach Sunday School at Redemption City Church, where he serves as an elder. Peter Rosenberger is a thirty-year caregiver for his wife Gracie, who lives with severe physical disabilities. He is the author of Hope for the Caregiver and his radio show for family caregivers is syndicated on more than 200 stations across the country. @hope4caregiver

What would a privately-administered legal justice system looks like? Bruce L. Benson joins us to give us a hint about what such a system would look like as we discuss his book, The Enterprise of Law: Justice Without a State. Is government necessary to provide law and order? How does thinking about the law in economic terms—as a good or service like any other—change how we think about the law? Could you really think of those under the protection of law enforcement as “customers”?How did the law as we know it today—a system of rules and courts provided by the government—come about? How are incentives aligned in our current legal system? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
