There's no other way to do that.” “If you just focus on the end result, you'll be miserable for a very long time. It's about the process.” “You have to go through the most challenging and difficult time you've ever faced. You're gonna have to go through pain to get there because purpose is on the other side of pain.” “There is always something good in everything.” “Sometimes the most valuable lesson you can learn is what not to do—not necessarily what to do.” “We're all born with a particular set of gifts and talents—and your purpose is the combination of those gifts and your life experiences.” “In the traditional schooling system, we often forget our inborn genius. We try to adapt to other people's values and expectations, and in this process, we often forget the gift we were born with.” “Any idea has potential.” “Not having preconceived ideas—and keeping everything open—sometimes creates miracles.” “Information is overloaded, and the longer we live, the more it becomes too much. So what you do with that information is much more important than the information itself.” “Imperfect action is always better than a perfect plan.” USEFUL RESOURCES: https://mashamalka.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/theoneminutecoach/ https://www.instagram.com/masha_malka/ https://www.facebook.com/masha.malka https://x.com/mashamalka https://www.youtube.com/@MashaMalka The One Minute Coach to Mastering Your Emotions: A Step-by-Step Guide to Feeling Happy on a Regular Basis (https://a.co/d/h4J6XXh) The One Minute Coach: Change Your Life One Minute at a Time (https://a.co/d/a1Yv4hh) CONNECT WITH JOHN Website - https://iamjohnhulen.com    Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/johnhulen    Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/johnhulen    X - https://x.com/johnhulen    LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnhulen    YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLX_NchE8lisC4NL2GciIWA    EPISODE CREDITS Intro and Outro music provided by Jeff Scheetz - https://jeffscheetz.com/

How do you master your emotions and enjoy greater happiness and success in your life? Masha Malka is living proof of what can happen if human potential is allowed to express itself. Leaving the only life and country she had known, Masha Malka's life was turned upside down at the age of 17, when her family fled the Soviet Union as Jewish refugees. With determination like nothing she had known before, Masha committed to doing whatever it took to turn her life around. With no money, no knowledge of the English language, no contacts or friends to turn to for help and a very different mindset, Masha studied full time while working two or three jobs in order to get ahead and achieve her dreams. Fast-Forward – Masha became the best-selling author and founder of The One Minute Coach™ educational system. She has worked as an executive coach for over 15 years, built a successful import and distribution company; taught Business Leadership at MUIC, won Ballroom competitions, and received her Master's Degree in Higher Education while raising three children. In today's conversation with us, Masha Malka addresses the timely topic of emotional mastery and how she used a difficult situation in her life as a training ground to learn the skills she now teaches to people around the world. We discuss many of the practical tips and concepts that Masha has included in her newest book, The One Minute Coach to Mastering Your Emotions: A Step-by-Step Guide to Feeling Happy on a Regular Basis, including where emotions come from, the impact of our emotions physically and relationally, and how we gain control of our emotions…one minute at a time. Key Takeaways Over 90% of what we do, what we think, and how we react is habitual. Separate yourself from the emotion. Instead of saying “I am angry”, say “I feel angry”. You have every right to feel every emotion. Emotion that isn't dealt with becomes stuck and wants to get out. The way it gets out if not addressed, is sickness and disease. Learn to release the emotional charge at the end of every day. Neutralize both the positive and negative emotions before going to bed so you sleep well. When you master your emotions you master your life. Once you break the pattern of reacting emotionally, it doesn't have control of you anymore. The toughest experience, when you get through it, you look back and say that was the best thing that happened to me. We are never given an obstacle that we cannot overcome. The key is not to try to do it alone. Get support. You expand your range of emotions by removing the fear of feeling the emotions. Whatever emotion is coming to you, it's indicating something that you need to pay attention to. When people come to workshops and seminars, they have the best intentions to learn, to grow, and to implement what they learned. However, when they get back to their day to day life, unfortunately, life tends to take over and a lot of people forget what they learned. They forget to implement or they implement very little. Bestselling author and founder of the One Minute Coach educational system Masha Malka says it’s a shame because they invest all this time, money, and effort and then didn’t do much with that. Masha started sending short messages to my workshop participants and clients, which she called the One Minute Coach because she thought everybody can find one minute just to be reminded about something new to learn and exactly how they can apply it. Masha says there’s always a reminder, information, and action steps that they can take based on that particular bit of information. Masha Malka is a successful entrepreneur, best-selling author, international speaker, and a mentor to thousands of people around the world. Masha’s had an unconventional start to life, when her family fled the Soviet Union as Jewish refugees when she was just 17 years old. Since that time Masha became the best-selling author and founder of The One Minute Coach™ educational system, has worked as an executive coach for over 15 years, built a successful import and distribution company, taught Business Leadership at MUIC, won Ballroom competitions, and received her Master’s Degree in Higher Education while raising three children. Her newest book, The One Minute Coach to Mastering Your Emotion addresses the timely topic of how emotions either serve us or hold us back.   Key Takeaways: [0:22] Today’s episode features Masha Malka, an entrepreneurial coach and author, whose colorful past will inspire anyone who listens. [2:30] Josh welcomes Masha to the show. [3:15] Masha started coaching because she wanted pass her understanding the challenges of being an entrepreneur and actually be able to “talk the talk” with anyone who needed her expertise. [5:50] Today, it is easy to get bogged down with the massive amount of information out there. Find the information that is relevant to you, then actually apply it in order to achieve success. [7:00] Masha goes through her upbringing in the Soviet Union, and how easy it was to go about life without knowing that there was anything better or different outside of her surroundings. [10:45] Masha gives a lot of credit to her parents for getting them out of the Soviet Union, especially their mom who kept applying for their family to leave. [13:30] Masha’s family was able to come to the US because of a relative who vouched for them. They were able to gain citizenship five years later. [19:08] Life really is about struggles; that’s what makes us grow and learn. [22:30] Masha got her start in the entrepreneurial world in the community she currently lives in in south Spain. One day at an international supermarket, she noticed they didn’t have a Russian section and Masha jumped on the opportunity. [23:45] One of the most important aspects in selecting an entrepreneurial field is identifying the need for that product or service. [27:30] Masha’s passion for entrepreneurship blossomed from the creation of her business. Being able to create something out of nothing and adding value to the world is so gratifying. [29:30] It is easy to get discouraged by others around you who have always known what they wanted to do in life and have clear-cut goals, but life is constantly evolving, and you just have to look for the need in the world when an opportunity presents itself. [33:14] When Masha was doing a lot of seminars, she would notice that people would spend all this time and money coming to seminars but then go back to their day-to-day life without applying the things they learn. She challenged herself to change this. [35:50] The concept of her first book, The One Minute Coach: Change Your Life One Minute at a Time, is that each chapter only takes one minute to read and apply with the hope of giving them a new perspective on things they maybe didn’t know or have forgotten. [38:40] Now she has changed her focus helping others with decision making, which is what her new book The One Minute Coach to Mastering Your Emotion is about. She believes that if we stop being slaves to our emotions, it changes how we experience life. [40:45] This is especially applicable for those in franchising who have to make tough and stressful decisions that affect their lives long-term. [42:00] It is important to recognize that everything that happens to us is neutral until you give it meaning. [44:15] If you would like to get in touch with Masha, you can email her at masha@mashamalka.com or visit www.mashamalka.com.
