Welcome to the latest episode of Harmonious World, in which I interview musicians about how their music helps make the world more harmonious.I was fortunate in meeting this week's guest - saxophonist and composer Matt Carmichael - before we spoke for the podcast. He was performing as part of Ensemble C with my guest from episode 263 Claire Cope and hearing him live and with a different group of musicians was fascinating. You can read my review of that gig here. Thanks to Matt for allowing me to play tracks from his latest album - out on 28 March - Dancing with Embers alongside our conversation.Get in touch to let me know what you think!Thank you for listening to Harmonious World. "Let's f***ing go!" - Three words from Saya Sakakibara that sum up her golden Olympic moment. If today was perfect it's a stark contrast to the depths this young woman has navigated to get to this point. If that's one of the greatest Aussie Olympic stories, then Kaylee McKeown must be among our greatest athletes. She won a fourth individual gold medal. While Cam McEvoy rewrote the book on swimming after his unheard-of training regime yielded gold. Featured: Matt Carmichael, Olympics reporter, Channel Seven. It's numbered 6, as we have previously spoken to Gavin Gordon, Mark Hone & Roger Holmes. However, this is the third in a new series hosted by Gary and former Lincoln City player Paul De Garis, following on from Matt Carmichael and Simon Yeo.Colin Alcide signed for the Imps in 1995, having to turn professional to do so. He had previously played for Emley (twice) and Altrincham, mainly as a defender. He was signed by John Beck, and pitched straight into a survival battle, which the Imps achieved,The following season the big striker became a key part of Beck's team as they pushed up the table, narrowly missing out on the play-offs, and giving Premier League Southampton a scare in the Coca-Cola Cup. A year later, with Alcide scoring 13 goals, the Imps were promoted to the third tier.Colin left for Hull halfway through the 1998/99 season, having made 140 appearances for City, scoring 31 times. In his later years, he played for Cambridge, York, and Exeter, as well as appearing in Europe for TNS. He even bagged a goal at Anfield for Hull City. This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Gary Hutchinson of the Stacey West Podcast. Welcome to the second of our podcasts in association with the Former Players Association. It's numbered 5, as we have previously spoken to Gavin Gordon, Mark Hone & Roger Holmes. However, this is the second in a new series hosted by Gary and former Lincoln City player Paul De Garis, following on from Matt Carmichael.Simon John Yeo had two spells with the Imps, the first from 2002-2005 and the second at the start of 2006. He scored 58 goals in 158 games, including 21 league goals in 2004/05, the last time a player achieved the fabled 20 goals a season for City in the Football League. Is he best known for the leveller against Torquay or the brace against Scunthorpe? Maybe it was the winner at Glanford Park in the second leg of the play-offs or the hat trick at Grimsby. There are too many great Simon Yeo moments!Hear him talk about the Gaffer, Keith, and the influence he had on Simon's life. He's tackling some of the red cards and doesn't hold back on one member of the 2002/03 squad."This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Gary Hutchinson of the Stacey West Podcast. Saxophonist Matt Carmichael has been making a big impression on audiences since he emerged on the Scottish jazz scene as a teenager with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland. No longer a teen, his debut album “Where Will The River Flow” was released in March 2021 and caught the attention of the WDR Big Band and Bob Mintzer, who has arranged the entire album for the band with Matt as a featured soloist. This concert will take place in March 2022 if you're lucky enough to be in Germany then. I love Matt's music for its emphasis on melody, the brilliant way it marries virtuosic Scottish traditional music with improvisation, and its ability to transport the listener to the greenest hills of Scotland. We had a great time feeling like we had a real office for a day, thanks to Matt Carmichael from Falmouth Sharespace. "Nothing like sinking your entire life's savings into commercial real estate and opening a co-working office space just to close it at the start of the Pandemic," Matt joked. I talked with him when he was kind enough to host my morning show "&Stephanie" and my podcast partner Lisa from http://womentravelbetterinpairs.com"Women Travel Better in Pairs #wtbip" - let's face it, we aren't traveling far. The Falmouth Share space is doing some incredible deals in their two properties on Palmer ave in Falmouth, and we talked to Matt about his unique difference in the co-working arena for a few minutes. 3- Minutes is the name of our new segment that showcases Cape Codders. Special thanks to Chef Sean Daily of EYHO for bringing Sandwiches and Sanity for lunch and The Robert Paul Group to put us all in touch. He joins us via the wires to talk about growing up on an island community, experiencing Papua New Guinea, rubbing shoulders with the rich and powerful and experinceing the poverty of affluence, and his life long work to emphasise the importance of cultures of place and his experience of rebuilding them after forcible displacement on the Isle of Eigg and in urban settings with his GalGael project. We also touch on the island Presbyterian heritage he shares with Rupert Murdoch, and Donald Trump who "was wrung from the loins of a woman from Lewis" and how the force can be turned to the dark side.

The incredible scientific event of November 12th 2014 with the Philae lander touching down on a comet sets the tone for today's Creating Wealth introduction. Host, Jason Hartman marvels at what an amazing time it is to be alive and considers the impact of such technology on real estate investments. Later, expert in demographics and social real estate trends, Matt Carmichael of www.Livability.com joins the show to discuss the motivations behind relocation and what leads people to choose their new home locations, as well as offering a realistically stark viewpoint on the state of the middle class. Key Takeaways 02.40 – Investing in real estate and land doesn't come with the same risk as investing in gold or precious metals does – they're not making any more land! 03.19 – Despite all of the physical and logistical difficulties of landing a spacecraft on a moving comet, today it was achieved. 06.37 – Demographical and life changes can often prompt a move or change in location. 11.17 – By focusing on the smaller towns and cities, Matt Carmichael can tell the stories of places which are actually more achievable for the average buyer or renter. 12.26 – Political persuasions are starting to play a bigger part in the motivation for choosing an area. 17.41 – Walkability and the whole feeling of a community can be a huge factor in real estate appreciation trends. 21.37 – The middle class is in a state of flux and it's getting so much harder to maintain your position in that class. 27.10 – So many factors and categories go into deciding which cities should make the ‘Overall Best Place to Live' list. 28.47 – For more general information, head to www.Livability.com.
