The Podcast will now be formally known as M365Distilled... the name the boys finally landed on after a few amusing alternatives as we introduce Misky365 and Miss Stilled. This is a strange podcast that takes a few statements from Darrell as a Service, which Steve refined into: No Adoption without User Governance Because user Governance Drives Adoption Adoption plus Governance is managed change So, Steve started a conversation, and the boys just talked about it... coming together with a little basic knowledge about Adoption and Governance and proving the above statements are the basis for Adoption and Governance. What comes out of this podcast are several statements that can be used as a basis for defining your governance and adaptive paths. Here they are: Microsoft default Settings are a form of governance. Viral Governance is a tool that works in many organisations. Governance is actually tough to do... even if you have a plan. Adoption and good Governance may or may not drive better change (the jury is still out). Finally, the Golden Nugget from Marijn is... Adoption plus Change drives Sexy Change. It is a sin that Steve and Marijn have never shared with you the annual release of Cairdeas whisky from Laphroaig, so we tasted the 2023 version and atoned for that sin.

If you are into smallpipes and have an internet connection, you've probably heard of or seen traces of Rod due to his playing, his participation in groups like the LBPS, Cairdeas, and the Pipers Gathering, etc not to mention his recently released album with folk band, "Fire in the Glen," as well as his many highland piping exploits -- but did you know that he also plays trombone, conducts choirs, and has seasonal allergies in the Spring! All that and more in this delightful interview! Enjoy, friends! We've found ourselves haunted, as of late, by the terrifying suspicion that our beloved Laphroaig might be falling behind the quality offered by the likes of Ardbeg and Lagavulin. Where once, we had nothing but praise we now harbour feelings of doubt and disappointment. In an attempt to quell or confirm these fears, we took it upon ourselves to bear the heavy burden of sampling the Lore, 10 Cask Strength, Cairdeas, and Sherry Oak. What we discovered as the last drop was drained from our curvaceous Glencarin crystals will shock and amaze you. Support the show

I'm reviewing the 2022 release of Laphroaig Càirdeas, Warehouse 1. This Scotch was aged in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels from Maker's Mark in the iconic Warehouse 1 that bares their namesake on the Islay Coast. Coming in at 52.2% ABV and $90, how does this year's Cairdeas compare to last year's Cask Strength PX Sherry release? I'm also sharing the news of the first Booker's Single Barrel Bourbon from the Jim Beam Distillery. This 'Second Chance Batch' is a collaboration between Fred Noe and the Medicinal Whiskey Charity to support the UK Transplant Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
Trainer Joe Pride discusses the return of CAIRDEAS at Wyong today (R3), and reviews the jump out of SNIPPY FOX ahead of Saturday's Winter Classic at Caulfield.
We review the newest Laphroaig Cairdeas Warehouse 1 release (2022). Matured in Makers Mark ex-bourbon barrels. PLUS: has the secondary whisky market finally peaked? We see examples of popular bottles dropping in value. The Whisky Rant Podcast Ep 33.

Ireland is known for being one of the friendliest countries in the world. From greeting strangers on the street, to thanking our bus drivers, Irish people are proud of their welcoming nature. So that is why we have decided to make friendship (or 'cairdeas' in Irish) the theme of this month's episode. On our meet the maker section we chat to Catherine Bradford from Simply Mourne. She's an artist based in County Down in the majestic Mourne Mountains of Northern Ireland, who creates elegantly crafted artworks made with natural materials that reflect the joy of her natural surroundings. We check in with Mary Moore, founder of the Irish at Heart subscription box service, and we head to a fishing town in Galway to have a look at a famous piece of jewellery that has been a symbol of love and friendship in Ireland for many years. Find out more at Irish At Heart and, exclusively for listeners to this podcast, use the discount code IRISHPOD for 10% off your Irish At Heart subscription box.

On this weeks episode Simon k speaks to Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh from the band Altan Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh is a native of the Donegal Gaeltacht of Gaoth Dobhair. Her first language is Gaelic and she has learnt many of her songs from family and neighbours as well as sourcing older material from archive facilities. She is renowned as one of the leading exponents of Donegal fiddle music and likes to promote the music which she has inherited from her late father Francie, whenever possible. She is a founding member of Cairdeas na bhFidléirí, which was set up 25 years ago to preserve and facilitate the development of the Donegal fiddling tradition for future generations. Mairéad's musical inspiration initially came from her family and neighbours, her father being a great fiddle teacher with a wealth of unusual local tunes, many learnt from his mother, Róise. She also received tuition and inspiration from Buncrana fiddle player, Dinny McLaughlin, who was a frequent visitor to her home when she was growing up. Mairéad founded Altan along with her late husband, Frankie Kennedy; from humble beginnings they brought their music to the world arena without compromising the deep musical tradition they loved. Along with her work with Altan, Mairéad is always in demand for solo work or presenting traditional music programmes on radio or television; past projects include the classic radio show The Long Note and the television series The Pure Drop and The Full Set on RTÉ1. Mairéad has recorded with other musicians such as Enya, the Chieftains, Dolly Parton, The String Sisters, T With the Maggies, and many more. Mairéad's first solo project, Imeall, was released in 2009. Also seid gespannt!
Lacey Lybecker and her husband, Charlie, have created a true family affair. As they've built Cairdes Winery they have incorporated the help of their two young children by allowing them to contribute artwork for their "Select Artist Series" wine labels. Her, her husband, and her children have become known around the tasting room as the winemaker and assistant winemamkers. Lacey stated, "Most people think it's a million dollar minimum to get started in the wine industry, but we were able to get our garage converted into a licensed production facility...and we scraped up money to buy some used equipment...." One step at a time, they've developed an exponentially gowing business and have doubled their production with each year.
Charlie Lybecker is the co-founder and winemaker of Cairdeas Winery. Cairdeas is an ancient Gaelic word meaning friendship, goodwill, or alliance. Cairdeas is a very small artisan winery started in 2009 by Charlie and his wife, Lacey. Info at CairdeasWinery.com Cairdeas Winery is featured at Taste Washington, celebrating 21 years of talented winemakers, award-winning chefs, educational seminars and fan-favorite events. This year's Taste Washington festival line-up has grown even bigger with more options to sip, taste and learn about Washington wine and food. Don't miss the Grand Tasting this Saturday and Sunday at the Century Link Field Event Center. Info at TasteWashington.org
Page reviews Laphroaig Cairdeas 2015 and talks through the basics of regions, terms and how whiskey is made.
Distillers like to say they're not making whisky for themselves, but laying it down for future generations. Part of that process is identifying the young distillers who may be asked to take over for them one day, and this week, that process put Woodford Reserve's future in much clearer perspective. Brown-Forman promoted Elizabeth McCall from her role as Woodford's Master Taster to Assistant Master Distiller, putting her on the track to eventually take over for current Master Distiller Chris Morris one day. McCall's story is unique - not because she's a second-generation whisky maker, but because she followed her mother into the whisky business. She'll share her story and her goal of encouraging other young women to consider science careers on this week's WhiskyCast In-Depth. This week, we're on location in the Boston suburb of Westborough, Massachusetts for the annual Go Whisk(e)y Weekend at Julio's Liquors, and we'll have details on another marriage between music and whiskey as the rock giants of Metallica are teaming up with veteran distiller Dave Pickerell to create not just their own whiskey, but build their own distillery as well! We'll also have details on Ardbeg's new expansion plans and some hints about this year's Ardbeg Committee bottling, along with a first look at Laphroaig's annual Cairdeas release and new entries in the Bottled in Bond American Whiskey category.

There's an old saying that wisdom comes from the mouth of babes. That was proven true with this month's panel, when 6-year-old Maggie DeYoung told her father John that talking about whisky to the world "was a great responsibility" and generously offered to help her Dad in any way that she could. John and his wife Jay make up half of our tasting panel this month, along with Jill-Ann and Robert Mark. What's more...they nosed and tasted this month's whiskies blindly, and weren't told until they had finished each whisky what they were evaluating. This month's whiskies are variations on the traditional peated single malt Scotch: Bowmore's Devil's Casks, the lightly peated Cù Bòcan from Tomatin, and Laphroaig's 2013 Cairdeas Port Cask Finish.
