Have you ever wondered what your nurses' lives are like outside of the hospital? In a new memoir, Journal of a Black Queer Nurse, Nurse Britney Daniels divulges the details of her day-to-day life. From braving the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic to giving her own clothes to a patient who was unhoused to transporting bodies to overflowing morgues (and experiencing her own physical ailments as a result), to advocating for patients of color in the face of systemic racism and more, these unseen moments as a marginalized nurse inform her authorship while helping to illuminate just some of what goes on behind the scenes. Nurse Daniels identifies as a Black, masculine-presenting, tattooed lesbian from a working-class background. For the last five years, she has worked as an emergency room nurse. What began as a personal diary also became an instrument of healing from perpetual trauma wrought not only by what she witnessed in her career but stemming from how much she dared to care. The book may make you feel sadness, humor, anger, a sense of injustice, or all of the above in this candid account that exposes some unflattering truths about health care in the United States. Journal of a Black Queer Nurse strives to reveal how true care goes beyond treating the physical body. Daniels asserts that it involves listening to and understanding patients and it demands that nurses — especially nurses of color — also be warriors. Britney Daniels, RN, MSN is a Black queer travel nurse and social advocate who has worked in hospital emergency rooms all over the US. Daniels holds a bachelor's and master's degree in nursing with a concentration in nursing leadership. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree. Britney lives in Chicago with her wife, Saria, and their two dogs, Batman and Momo. Journal of a Black Queer Nurse is her first book. Journal of a Black Queer Nurse Third Place Books

With more than 30 years as a professional oenophile, Goldstein shares some fun on-the-job anecdotes along with his perfect wine and snack pairings at Oracle Park. “Sauvignon Blanc and garlic fries is one of my favorites,” he reveals. “And then, of course, you're going to have one of the renowned tri-tip sandwiches that we do. It's funny how people will freak out [about what to pair it with] if it's a sandwich, but if you tell them it's a steak, “Oh, I'll have a Cabernet with it.” Goldstein also explores San Francisco's diverse wine scene, from trendy wine bars in the Dogpatch to neighborhood haunts in the Inner Richmond.  Next, Johnson reconnects with Bay Curious podcast host Olivia Allen-Price. The freshly minted author discusses her new book before getting into some under-the-radar gems in North Beach—including the Dear San Francisco revue. “It's kind of like Cirque de Soleil, but with a San Francisco twist,” she says. “It's a small theater, so you're really close to these people doing amazing tricks with their bodies that just will blow your mind. I went a couple weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it.” The podcaster also tells Johnson where to go for dinner and a show in sunny Potrero Hill.  Finally, Johnson talks culinary and cocktails with Lauren Saria, editor of Eater San Francisco. Army Soldier Accused of Fatally Shooting Newlywed Wife and Concealing Her Body Found in Storm Drain

An Army soldier has been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of his newlywed wife. Zarrius Hildabrand, 21, a member of the Alaska National Guard's 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, stands accused of fatally shooting his wife, Saria Hildabrand, also 21, and then attempting to cover up the crime by stashing her body in a storm drain.  The Anchorage Police Department revealed that the disturbing series of events began when Hildabrand reported Saria missing on the evening of Monday, August 7. The couple had returned home in the early hours of Sunday, August 6, after celebrating Zarrius' birthday with friends. A neighbor later reported hearing a gunshot in the vicinity around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday.  Hildabrand initially claimed that Saria had walked to work at a local restaurant between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. that same day, saying they were both too hungover to drive. He reported her missing to the police when he went to pick her up from work at 7 p.m. and realized she never arrived. Desperate and concerned, he turned to social media, posting messages on Facebook about his wife's disappearance and even assisting Saria's mother, Meredith Barney, in searching for her.  However, the unfolding investigation raised serious doubts about Hildabrand's account. A friend of the couple informed the police that Saria had not planned to work on August 6. Contradictions in Hildabrand's statements and evidence found at their apartment led detectives to delve deeper into the case.  When police searched the couple's apartment, they discovered two loaded pistols on the kitchen table, one of which was missing a bullet. Detectives also noticed peculiar details, including a missing bed sheet replaced by a mattress pad with new sheets nearby. Hildabrand's reluctance to let the police inspect the bed raised further suspicions.  As the investigation progressed, more incriminating evidence emerged. Hildabrand was found to have purchased a variety of items on August 6, including a jar of marinara sauce, a set of sheets matching those in their apartment, a mattress cover, hydrogen peroxide, and an empty spray bottle. A large 96-gallon garbage can was also purchased from a nearby store. Police later located a mop and mop bucket that matched those sold on the same aisle as the garbage can.  Tragically, the investigation reached its conclusion when a drone search uncovered Saria Hildabrand's remains concealed in a 4-by-5-foot storm drain near the couple's apartment. She had suffered a gunshot wound to the left temple.  The couple, who had met during basic training the previous summer, were married in December 2022. Saria had moved from Utah to Alaska just six months prior to be with her new husband.  Zarrius Hildabrand was appointed a public defender and is being held on a $500,000 bond.  Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? https://youtu.be/c-PPXQ-eilo Long Story Short 4 – Abraham and the Cutting of the Covenant   Redemption Church Plano, Tx Here we are again! Back at Redemption Church in Plano, Tx.  We believe God can use anyone… My name is Chris Fluitt and I believe God has something for us today. Long Story Short In week 1 we talked about creation and how sin messed it all up. In week 2 we talked about 2 brothers, Cain and Abel and how blood is necessary to cover our sin. In week 3 we talked about Noah, a single man that God used to save the world.   There is a common thread that runs throughout your Bible. Do you know it? John 5:39 (NIV) You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, #LONGSTORYSHORT #ALLaboutJESUS   God used a single man to start fill the world. – Adam. God used a single man to save the world from the judgment of the flood. – Noah. Now God uses a single man to bless the world. – Abram.   Genesis 12:1-3 (NIV) The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. Promise 2 focuses What Abram will do – Go and trust me. What God will do – I will bless you and the world through you.   God ALWAYS has a “call to action” and it ALWAYS includes FAITH. God ALWAYS has a plan to bless you and to bless others through you. Why Abram? Why do you think God would approach this one guy and choose him to bless the world? Is He the smartest guy? Talented? Large Tik Tok following? Youthful potential? Is he perfect and sinless? Genesis 12:4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. 75 years old… Disobeys God immediately by bringing his nephew Lot. THE BIBLE DOES NOT SAY WHY GOD CHOSE ABRAM. (It is not about Abram as much as it is about God's goodness.) And even though Abram breaks the agreement (bringing his nephew) God remains faithful to His promise. God is faithful even when we are not. Why would God choose you? Big brain? Talent Insta Famous? Young and good looking? Perfect and sinless? Just like Abram's story is all about God's goodness… your story is all about God's goodness.   Abram & Sarai Abram and his beautiful wife Sarai begin to travel. Both characters are important. Sarai is important. Men are not the only ones important to God. 2 quick stories that we don't have time to fully cover. 1 - Sarai is so beautiful that 2 times Abram worries that someone will kill him and take Sarai because she was irresistibly beautiful. Abram does not do a great job of trusting God in these 2 episodes and ends up lying by telling the kings that he is not married to Sarai. 2 – Abram's nephew is kidnapped, and the riches of Sodom and Gomorrah are stolen by an army. Abram acts as a general and raises an army of 318 men and goes to war. He defeats the army, rescues lot and all that were kidnapped, and returns all the riches to Sodom & Gomorrah. Abram is blessing… Covenant Promise - ber-eeth' God made an unconditional promise to Abram in Genesis 12. In chapter 15 God makes a Covenant. Last time we talked about the covenant God made with Noah. A covenant is an alliance, a pledge, agreement.   Genesis 15:1-2 (NIV) After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” 2 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless… God talks to Abram, and Abram talks back in a blunt way.  “What can you give me… I am childless.” Abram and Saria have not been able to have children. Abram let's God know that he is upset about this problem.

AI itself isn't purchased, rather there is a product that performs better because of AI. Advancements in AI need to effectively solve specific problems for adoption to occur. (17:33)Challenges to AI Usage. Dr. Safavi points out thata challenge to AI usage is the privacy and consent necessary to utilize patient data. This is a policy and regulation issue that requires government intervention. Additionally, for AI to be reliable, bias in data needs to be mitigated, focusing on quality over quantity. (22:35)We Have the Tools! Dr. Saria adds that there are many tools and techniques available to monitor and measure bias. However, those tools are variably implemented across the industry and understanding of best practices is inconsistent.
