Allegations of arbitrary rules and deadlines were leveled at the Manitoba Progressive Conservatives this weekend by Susan Auch, who wanted to run for the provincial nomination in Transcona. In Episode 9, Auch tells her version of how she was treated, and why she thinks party insiders manipulated the process to keep her out and smooth the way for former City councilor Shawn Nason.Raised in Transcona, Susan Auch became a 3-time Olympic skating medalist inducted into numerous athletic halls of fame. A realtor, she had an unsuccessful run for the Tories in 2011 in Assiniboia, so she's not a newcomer to party politics.3.30- When she heard a byelection was called for March 18th to replace the late MLA Nello Altomare, Auch felt "Transcona's my neighborhood and I wanted to run... I called headquarters and initially the CEO was very excited... she called me back and she was quite cool."Auch explains the odd restrictions placed on her, ranging from a 30 hour time limit, to being denied a membership list while told the nomination paper signatures had to be from current members only. She raises a good point- why would she be told not to sign up new members, when the party is in the midst of a leadership race? Auch says she spoke to one of those hopefuls, Obby Khan. 7.00- Marty Gold explains the court precedent set in the 1980's when Tory stalwarts Tom Denton and Olga Fuga tried to withhold member lists to control a non-profit board and Justice Scollin scolded them.10.10- Auch's statement was "certain insiders saw me as a threat." She answers questions about her comment. Also discussed- Nason certainly isn't afraid to compete for the nomination; former PC leader Hugh McFadyen and her run in 2011; skewed rumours about Auch's civil court cases; "in Manitoba courts, people can lie".18.15 - "The question we should ask is why would we not want the constituency to decide on who should be their representative?"Hear Auch's remarks about her disappointment in how the 2011 PC campaign treated her and the need to shore up current leadership. "I'm a business person and I'm a leader. Why would you not want me to have a chance and compete?... we need this party to be strong and have a lot of leaders." 27.30 Part 2 - Marty provides his overview of the nomination situation in Transcona, and how it can impact voter perceptions.*****Today in the Winnipeg Sun- "The City claimed it would take 10 extra hours beyond the allotted 2 hour FIPPA limit, and demanded he pay $300 for the reports to be located."So I asked to see it. A city spokesman responded, “Engineering reports are not public domain but can be requested through the FIPPA process.”"And I was told it's not an actual policy.“There is no specific directive regarding technical reports being or not being appended to administrative reports. It isjust our best practice to not publish technical or engineering reports in their raw state. We instead summarize the technical reports within the administrative report, which was done in this case.” "Best practice? To keep taxpayers in the dark, maybe. Politicians and newsrooms alike are over-run with confusion and cowardice as open Antisemitism collides with what used to be Canadian norms. Episode 32 begins with an overview of some recent examples: - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau refused to join 15,000 people gathered in Ottawa on Monday to support Israel and Jewish safety in Canada. Recently he tried to lecture Israel about casualty reports from Hamas as Israel fights back. We've published a takedown of Trudeau from Dr. Rafael Medoff, who cited how Canadian forces had no qualms about the civilian costs incurred in battles to defeat Hitler, in Italy and Germany. https://actionline.ca/2023/12/killing-civilians-canada-should-recall-its-own-record-before-lecturing-israel-dr-rafael-medoff/ - Trudeau isn't alone in making things worse for Jews in Canada. Monday night CTV News did their part. When Marty Gold challenged their description of the Ottawa rally as being 'pro-war', over 35,000 saw his tweet - and hundreds joined his call for Omar Sachedina to retract and apologize. Dean Skoreyko provided his formal complaint. There's been chants for “intifada revolution” in numerous cities at what are clearly hate marches targeting Jews, but never has CTV mentioned it to their viewers. - Israel revoked the visa of a Canadian, Lynn Hastings, who is a UN Deputy Co-ordinator. The MSM won't report why: she supports UNRWA schools which promote genocide against Jews and refused to condemn Hamas. News Tips/Feedback/To Sponsor/Interac donations: martygoldlive@gmail.com 18:28 Part 2- Tory MLA Obby Khan issued an apology for "failing to do my due diligence" before signing a letter of support for a U of Manitoba nursing student. Her suspension was, as it turned out, because of her Jew-hating online posts and other unprofessional behavior. Instead of quelling the controversy, Khan is getting flak from prominent local Palestinians- part of his political base- for daring to call the student's actions antisemitic. You will hear his apology, the Muslims who claim he betrayed them, the reaction from Jewish residents, and a letter Khan and PC leader Heather Stefanson received that revealed the Hitler-referencing, antisemitic comments of a local-Palestinian leader "which directly violate the IHRA definition of antisemitism adopted by the province during the PCs' tenure." Khan had gladly posed with that person at the Legislature at his recent swearing-in, and the Jewish community had noticed. He's been challenged to publicly rebuke their online hate speech and the weekly rallies that showcase radical Islamist and Marxist speakers- who repeat blood libels against Israelis and Jews. While members of the Jewish community at first rushed to thank him for his belated stand, they expect more of Khan and Stefanson. Will the Tories take that next step and denounce their "resistance" supporting political allies? The letter also referred to a column by former PC MLA Kevin Klein. You'll hear his call for the Conservatives to show moral clarity and "to recognize clearly that radical ideologies like anti-semitism are spreading within our institutions, like our universities, and we need to fight back against that." We have listener comments from Tory voters disgusted that Khan and Selkirk MLA Richard Perchotte were suckered into endorsing "The radical zealotry from the Palestinian mob." 41:29 Part 3- What's coming up on the podcast and ActionLine.ca- Is Wab Kinew about to become the Christmas Grinch? ***** Will you contribute towards our December goal of $1800 to get the bills paid on our election coverage? At the outset of Episode 31, today's passing of a longtime friend, Mike Willis of Vancouver, and his struggle with addiction is sadly recounted. Mike wrestled as Dropkick Murphy, a welcome presence in any locker room. A 2-time Canadian Jr. Heavyweight champion, he was a standout in the revival of pro wrestling events at Hastings Racecourse and Casino. For more on his passing, see this SLAM!Wrestling story by Greg Oliver. 12:26 Part 2- This week members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1505 are casting ballots after the City made a final offer for a new contract. Some members aren't happy with the way negotiations were handled and aren't so sure the union leadership can be trusted when they recommended a 'Yes' vote. The "Report on Financial Impropriety" that a few drivers have seen outlines why: A) The City had made allegations about possible wage overpayments to certain union officials in 2021-22 when representing the union at certain Committee meetings, and potential 'double dipping'' by them submitting time slips to the City for committee attendance and to ATU. B) The then-ATU leadership were told by the International Vice President that members should only be told AFTER the union elections in December 2022. C) Some of the officials under scrutiny were then elected to senior union positions, and the lid has slammed shut on any further discussion of the scandal with ATU members, claiming 'the matter has been resolved'. Not so fast, says the report, penned by the former ATU President. You'll hear how, "if confirmed by City officials" the implications of the double dipping includes: inflating pensionable hours, the Union and City each paying CPP, EI and Workers Comp premiums, and " a real of perceived Conflict of Interest when top officials of the union are able to conceal misconduct which... would have resulted in termination of employment (for) an ordinary employee". Listen to the conclusions reached in the report, asserting that three officials "concealed the truth from the Union and the City"; "fraudulently claimed payment from the union for time already paid by the City"; and "took advantage" of the Union and City not coordinating payments for committee work. TGCTS heard from 2 drivers on this. One felt it was a minor issue and expressed confidence in the officials. However, another noted, “The meetings that happened last week were close to erupting. Arguing and people shouting . Blaming each other and almost coming to blows .” As for the union leaders, "The very people double dipping got voted into positions of power... They also seem too eager to accept what the city has offered. Whilst the membership is prepared to go on strike. "We think that the city has probably applied pressure. Get this deal through and we'll take no further action . But because the people under investigation are the people that would now be handling the investigation." * News Tips/Sponsorships/Interac donations: martygoldlive@gmail.com 33:39 Part 3- A preview of upcoming episodes: - Obby Khan's apology to the Jewish Community, and how the Free Press only told half the story as the Tory MLA continues to face challenges to make his actions to fight antisemitism match his words - More unexpected twists and turns in the story of the Langside 4 and their accused killer - Rigged City bike lane planning gets significant pushback - Year end interviews being lined up! ******** TGCTS podcasts and ActionLine.ca informs the public about public affairs issues and concerns with insight, analysis and information that you can count on. The Progressive Conservatives are trying to unsnarl two members from a letter of support for a suspended U of Manitoba nursing student, after MLAs Richard Perchotte (Selkirk) and Obby Khan (Fort Whyte) seemingly didn't realize the "anti-Israel" activist posted a Nazi cartoon and antisemitic content to describe the Israeli military and government. And while PC leader Heather Stefanson claimed "both individuals have since apologized", according to sources Obby Khan was taking his time and was waiting until Thursday to find the words. Part 1- We provide the background of the president of the U of M Nursing Students' Association, Arij Al Khafagi, and review a Free Press interview where she played the victim. She went full Pallywood in describing herself as a "humanitarian by heart" who "shares the perspective of unity and humanity"- as long as it paints Israel as oppressor and the genocidal Gazan society as oppressed. She even bragged she had Jewish friends on the far-left, after senior administrators held her accountable for posting cartoons that, as Marty Gold explains, breached the IHRA definition of antisemitism. Citing "discriminatory remarks and demonstrating wider unprofessional conduct" as well as her Instagram antics, College of Nursing officials iced her student status and she became a cause celebre among the local Pro-Palestine mob. As part of a campaign to salvage her academic year, MLAs were solicited to send a letter asking Advanced Education Minister Renee Cable to intercede and get the Jew-hater back into classes. Opposition critic Perchotte, along with Khan, signed a letter to the Minister that complained "it sends an unacceptable message to academically penalize a student for expressing herself... the same passionate nurses that our healthcare system so desperately needs." 17:30 Part 2- You'll hear the apology sent by Richard Perchotte to a Jewish family where he admitted, "I failed to get the details before signing", and insisting "the antisemitism posts are against the belief of my party, my leader and myself". Five hours later, Stefanson followed up, assuring the family that "As soon as it was brought to my attention, I made clear that this does not reflect the sentiment of our PC Party." The former Premier continued "Both individuals have since apologized." But no one seemed to have heard a word of contrition from Khan on Wednesday. "Where's Obby"? asked one listener. Party insiders told TGCTS if Khan's waiting until Friday to do it, that's another in a long line of questionable decisions the Tory star has made that undermine his credibility with the rank and file, after he was a major focal point of the losing election campaign. As we report, while Khan tries to play politician with local "pro-Palestinian" figures, at least one he's been photgraphed with is believed to have been seen in a video threatening Winnipeg Jews where calls are heard celebrating Hitler and Hamas. That video is still being investigated by Winnipeg Police. Pro-Hamas marches continue to attack Canadian values and villify Israel's right to self defence. The pro-Intifada sentiment was loudly proclaimed when the rail line was blocked on November 20. There's a morally deceptive 'progressive' movement funded by Iran and other anti-West agitators who want to turn our society against the concept of "Never Again". We've been seeing political cowardice, not leadership, in Winnipeg. Will the media ask Obby Khan to repudiate the "anti-Zionist not antisemite" radicals in our community, and denounce the weekly marches of terror-supporting "decolonizers"? Or will he continue to 'go along to get along' with antisemites? ******* The costs of our independent investigations and analysis is funded entirely by YOU- our sponsors, advertisers and donors. TGCTS continues our series of interviews with candidates in the 2023 Manitoba election. Our first of Season 3 is a chat with Obby Khan, who held the Fort Whyte seat for the governing PC's in a 2021 byelection and eyes a return to the Legislature. Marty Gold talks with Khan about his background in the CFL, in business and with public safety, and about his stint as a Cabinet minister in the Stefanson administration. "I'm a community guy, bringing people together". At the door, he says the themes are consistent around the province- affordability and growing the economy to pay for a long-decaying health care system. * You can sponsor podcasts /donate by email/or send along story tips: Email martygoldlive@gmail.com He touches on some of the Progressive Conservative campaign promises for seniors and to take on criminal violence. "When you have kids going downtown and they're getting stabbed or mugged because someone wants to steal their shoes, this is a major problem." "We are actively working to reduce crime in the city,' Khan insists, and a re-elected PC government would continue to demand reforms to toughen bail conditions for repeat offenders. He draws a clear distinction between the 'defund the police' position of some NDP candidates with the Tories support for law enforcement officers. * Want to help us expand our local reporting? In Episode 33, Marty Gold adds shocking new details to the story he broke in February about an incident at a basketball game on the Jewish campus in Winnipeg. The outrageous antisemitic conduct explains why there's been a cover-up by high-level "educators'' desperate to protect the University of Winnipeg Collegiate and sports administrators. Be warned, the language allegedly used by a UW Collegiate junior varsity player about Jews was vulgar. But it's what his teammates chanted afterwards, that the Education Department, sports officials, the Collegiate and the Gray Academy of Jewish Learning are all trying to keep secret. Thanks to our investigative reporting, you'll hear what went on and why this scandal can become an election issue. ** Support our investigative reporting via paypal.com/paypalme/MartyGoldMedia ** School officials lie that they're forbidden from discussing specifics because the hate was voiced by minors in Grade 9 and 10. Do antisemites have a right to such privacy? No, but still, neither school reported the incident to provincial sports officials as required. https://www.thej.ca/2023/02/23/winnipeg-board-of-jewish-education-stonewalls-questions-about-antisemitic-incident How bad is the apathy towards antisemitism at the UW campus? After a bizarre Winnipeg Free Press story did not include the word 'antisemitism' and reduced the controversy to a “behavioral issue”, Belle Jarniewski, Executive Director at the Jewish Heritage Centre posted: "No classes from the UW Collegiate have registered for the Holocaust and Human Rights Symposium this year after having been a part of it for 20 years. There is no cost and the program will be virtual.” Marty explains that's only one good reason not to let the schools 'work it out' themselves. Another is that Canada's Antisemitism Envoy, Irwin Cotler, said it is simply unacceptable. "Were these (UW) students themselves, disciplined? People should know and should be able to act upon it because they know about it." "It's a threat not only to Jews, it's a threat to Winnipeg, it's a threat to Canada, and we have to always combat it when we see it, not be silent in the face of it, and act collectively to combat it." Marty reminds that Sports Minister Obby Khan said he is already involved: "I had it immediately forwarded to the department of education and justice. They are looking into it to see what will be done next.'" https://www.thej.ca/2023/03/02/sports-minister-alerted-manitoba-justice-about-u-of-winnipeg-collegiate-antisemitism-incident/ Since Education officials and DoJ did nothing, Khan can now hand the new evidence to his own Department to act on and finally deal with antisemitism at the Collegiate. 20:11 - A New and Improved Commercial Break! 22:12 Part 2 - TGCTS reveals the offensive antisemitism of Wesmen players, what they said at the Jewish campus, and how some almost got away with it. 'Educators' like the B'nai Brith local director claim "it was dealt with" by the Collegiate and the Jew-haters were "probably reprimanded." Yet an Education Department official deflected any attempt to verify that assertion: The department is committed ... to disrupting all forms of antisemitism in our school divisions and schools. If you have further questions or concerns within your community, I would recommend that you discuss the matter with a superintendent in your local school division. Disrupted how? Who's the superintendent? She still won't answer - exposing her role in the cover-up. Marty outlines the real steps 'disrupting antisemitism' in high school sports would take, and the questions about UW Collegiate and their players that Khan needs to ask. The BB director had no concept that the Sports Minister could help protect Jewish athletes from these UW Collegiate antisemites. "Educators"- protecting their own - want this scandal to go away - no questions, no answers. But the ball is now in Obby Khan's court. And Jewish kids are counting on him.
