In which Ted despairs over Pixel 3 screen on drain, and I wonder whether I do indeed have the right size iPhone......
I got my hands on a Google Pixel 3 and took some time to compare how it handles low light photography with the iPhone Xs. Long story short, I'm very impressed, and I hope that something like this will be coming to the iPhone in the not-too-distant future. https://birchtree.me/blog/pixel-3-night-sight-vs-iphone-xs-in-really-really-low-light-comparison/

Today's edition of In Brief shares information about the Pixel 3 wireless charging capabilities, Xiaomi unveils the first phone with 10GB of RAM and more.
The Google Pixel 3 has all the betterments you would expect from a flashy flagship smartphone: great camera, zippy processor, smarter AI. It also, though, comes with an unexpected bonus, one that works so deeply in the background you'll likely never even know it's there. The Titan M chip may be small and discreet, but it helps make the Pixel 3 and its beefier sibling, the Pixel 3 XL, among the most secure smartphones you can buy.
On 'The New Screen Savers' recorded on Saturday, October 20, 2018, with Leo Laporte and Iain Thomson:Leo and Iain discuss Apple's upcoming October event and what could be announced, Apple CEO Tim Cook calling for the retraction of Bloomberg's Chinese spy chip story, and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's passing. Leo gives his hands-on review of Google's new flagship Android phone, the Pixel 3 XL, putting the camera to the test on the streets of San Francisco. Purism, the maker of privacy, security, and freedom-focused devices, just launched the Librem Key, a USB security token that also can detect if someone tampered with your computer. Purism's Chief Security Officer Kyle Rankin joins to show how it all works. NETGEAR Orbi, Wirecutter's pick for best Wi-Fi mesh-networking kit, is adding a new product in its lineup. The Orbi Voice combines a mesh Wi-Fi extender with Harman Kardon speakers and Amazon Alexa smarts. Megan Morrone gives her review. After taking 9 days off from the podcast, I'm back to talk about why the Pixel 3 is really more of a camera attached to a smartphone than any other phone on the market today.
Google unveiled a number of new products Tuesday at its big hardware event, including the Google Home Hub and Google Pixel Slate. But the Pixel 3, the company's new smartphone was the real star. The Pixel 3, which is available in two sizes and starts at $799, comes in three colors and has a rear 12.2 megapixel camera as well as a dual front camera. What's inside the phone is a host of new apps and features.
On 'The New Screen Savers' recorded on Saturday, October 13, 2018, with Leo Laporte and Megan Morrone:Leo and Megan discuss the week's new product announcements from Facebook and Google, including Portal from Facebook and Google's Home Hub, Pixel Slate, and Pixel 3. DPReview Science Editor Rishi gives a behind-the-sense look at the tech driving the Pixel 3's camera for its new features like Super Res Zoom and Night Sight. Leo tries out the Magic Leap One Creator Edition AR headset with XEODesign Founder Nicole Lazzaro, who has spent some time developing for the mixed reality, spatial computing platform. Jason Howell gives a first look at Sony's new flagship phone the Xperia XZ3. Why, God, Why?! In this episode we take a look at the recent MadeByGoogle Keynote as well as the Microsoft Products Keynote and judge whether Google or Microsoft came to the table or not. Spoiler...they didn't.
Everything but the Pixel 3! Today I'm taking a look at all the non-Pixel 3 things shown off at yesterday's Google hardware event. Oh, and the AC kicked on for the last couple minutes of the episode, so if you hear a hum start near the end, that's just me unexpectedly getting a little bit of air. Sorry for the hum!
In today's Minutes: Coal mining company Westmoreland filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Google is dropping the 3rd version of its phone Pixel, and Snap stock has dropped to its lowest value ever as it tries to become profitable.
