Welcome back! We are all in the studio this week for our Planet Comicon wrap-up. We discuss what we did at the Hero Initiative table, how the panels went for us, and all of the good memories from the weekend. We all got to stop in at a variety of stores over the last week, picking up new comics and old books along the way. Of course, with everything going on with Planet, we are behind on some of our TV viewing. New episodes are coming out left and right for Daredevil, The Boys, and Darth Maul, among others. Give us a week and we will be back with some viewing updates. We have our weekly Pick 3 choices, sponsored by our friends at Clint's Comics. Plus, Cullen is back with a brand new trivia question. We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. Contact us on our website, Facebook, Instagram, or by email. We want to hear from you! Well, we are a full-service show at a self-service price. Could we interest you in conversations with Dan Mora, G. Willow Wilson, Leah Williams, Megan Levens, and Jason Hurley? This week we play a game of "Metal band or comic character?" before talking about first issues with old pal The Budget King! We'll cover Stephanie Phillips new Daredevil run, Captain Marvel Dark Past, Royals by Derek Kirk Kim (who you may remember from The Last Mermaid), the MAD Magazine DC special, and we'll round out the convo with Alien King Killer out on Marvel. I'll also mention we had a great time at Planet Comicon this past weekend, and enjoyed meeting tons of fellow comic fans at the Boulevard Brewing Company Space Camber tasting booth! We'll talk a bit more about our experiences on Monday's patreon episode.
So, what did everyone do last weekend? For the guys of the Worst Comic Podcast Ever, well, we manned the Hero Initiative table at Planet Comicon. We set up at Boulevard Brewery for a drink and draw fundraiser. We hosted five panels with the likes of Dan Mora, Adam Kubert, Paul Dini, Chris Claremont, and many more. We did a live podcast panel complete with guest artists. And somehow, we even made time to record our next Book Club episode! This time, we are travelling back to the mid-1980s as we revisit the Teen Titans for The Judas Contract, where the Titans discovered a traitor on their team, Jericho signs up for the team (see what I did there!), and Dick Grayson finally decides on a new costumed identity. Written by Marv Wolfman with art by George Perez, this is THE Teen Titans story to read. Recorded on the con floor, Jerry, John, and Cullen are joined by loyal listener Eric Haar as we dissect this storyline. Stick around to the very end to find out about next month's selection for WCPE Book Club. We return to the MCU, and we stick with a story from the 1980s, but it's set in the far future. We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. Contact us on our website, Facebook, Instagram, or by email. We want to hear from you! Look what Wednesday has given you! A brand-spankin' new episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! It's going to be a great day, as new comics are out today and you have Cullen, Jerry, and John to talk nerdy with for the next hour. The big book of the week has to have been DC KO #5, wrapping up the battle between Luthor Superman and Darkseid. And as much as this was an ending to the mini-series, it serves as a teaser for what DC Comics has planned for the rest of 2026. Shocking news out of the Pacific Northwest this week, as Mike Richardson was let go from Dark Horse Comics. While, on the face of it, that was a shock to many people in the industry, reading between the lines shows that this move was bound to happen. We just were not expecting it this week in this manner. Did you see the trailer for Lanterns coming later this year on HBO? We cannot wait to hear Kyle Chandler's southern drawl reciting the Green Lantern oath. The Beauty wrapped up season 1 over at FX/Hulu. Will there be a season 2? We are just two weeks away from Planet Comicon. We got some panel news to share with you, and we expect you to attend all of them. We have our weekly Pick 3 choices, sponsored by our friends at Clint's Comics. ComicsPro, the comic shop retailer network, held its annual meeting last week in Los Angeles. Many of the publishers used the opportunity to showcase new projects and announcements. DC led the way with some absolute - or should we say ABSOLUTE - book news that has everyone ready for more. Speaking of DC Comics, does the publisher have a flagship team book right now? It's an interesting debate, and the answer might be no. Give us a listen and let us know your thoughts. WCPE Book Club is next week. Be sure to read Avengers vs. X-Men from 1987 before next week's show. Drop us a line if you would like to sit in on the recording this weekend. Don't panic, but Planet Comicon is coming up soon. You'll find us on the show floor staffing the Hero Initiative table. Be sure to make plans to attend our panel on Saturday night. DC KO #4 came out last week, getting us to the champion to go up against Darkseid. So who won the tournament? And will they be able to defeat Darkseid? We got a trailer for the Spider-Noir series debuting in May on Amazon Prime. Be honest -- you need some more Nicolas Cage in your life, right? Don't panic, but Planet Comicon is coming up soon. After last week's Book Club discussion on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, it's time to get back to talking about comics, TV shows, and the other nerdy topics our wives are tired of hearing us talk about. You're welcome! The new Wonder Man series dropped on Disney+ at the end of January. We have all watched it, mostly loved it, and have lots of thoughts to share on Simon and Trevor. John got caught up on The Beauty over on FX/Hulu. People, you need to be watching this show. Heck, you can get your significant others to watch it, too. Just don't mention right away that it's based on a comic book from friends Jeremy Haun and Jason Hurley. Kevin Maguire was in the news over at Bleeding Cool this past week. And then he was in the news again the next day. Listen in for the details! Don't panic, but Planet Comicon is coming up soon. Mike talks about his experience volunteering at Kansas City's Planet Comicon in March 2025. Mike did two days there - one day shooting video, and one day helping out with the board gaming area.
We are back in the studio this week following Planet Comicon. Get the details of three incredible days where we raised money for Hero Initiative, held panels in packed rooms, and met some great comic creators. It's only been two weeks since we last discussed Daredevil: Born Again, but we have three episodes to catch up on. Which one was your favorite? Diamond Distribution has a new owner. There is a lot to unpack with this topic, but the main question remains, "Will they get the books to shops on time?" Speaking of comics, we have our weekly Pick 3 choices sponsored by Clint's Comics. This week we're joined by our pal Chris Hacker – Who you might know from the Oblivion Bar Podcast! We talk a little about crawling Planet Comicon in Kansas City together, before we get into the show, which contains the following... MCU Casting announcements (You probably already saw them, but have you heard our takes on them!?!), Diamond getting sold, the club arguing over Hush 2, and talking about some other great issues like Absolute Martian Manhunter, The Mummy, You'll Do Bad Things, and MoOoOoRe. Special shoutout to We're Taking Everyone Down With Us that we discussed on a previous episode that formally came out this week, and the wider release of Patrick Hovarths Free for All.
This week, we're recapping the highlights from Planet Comicon, discussing what's new and newsworthy in entertainment & pop culture, and putting stuff on sticks. As a bonus, we're bringing you our Q&A with Holly Marie Combs from last month's Missouri Comic Con. Join us!
What can I say about this episode? It runs the gamut. The main topic is the Triangle Shirtwaiste Fire and how two businessmen who were in the habit of locking doors while employees worked doomed 147 mostly immigrants and women to their deaths. We talk the history of the company, the state of the US for workers in 1911 and the fire itself. We also cover the trial and the legacy of the fire. Arthur reminisces about his trip to Planet Comicon, and talks the Roblox sensation Dandy's World as we discuss why it's so important why there needs to be laws in place to protect workers in this whole lotta historical, little bit silly but a lotta bit sad episode of the Family Plot Podcast!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/family-plot--4670465/support.

We have so MUCH rich muchness in this episode. A veritable souffle of things to learn and family banter! Lexi stops by to tell us she feeels sponsored. Gotta love our 7 year old. Arthur lets us know about his upcoming trip to Planet Comicon in his corner and we talk about being without water as the trailer court we live in ;upgrades' their pipes. And none of that is even the show topic!!! Ever heard of Starlite? Not Starlink, Starlite? (Pay attention bunkie). It's an incredible compound that if it was put on an egg, and an acetylene torch was then used on the egg, it would remain cool to the touch, completely uncooked. It could be spread over a human hand and if exposed to flame or heat, the hand remained unharmed! Or what about a grenade used in the days of the Babylonian empire that would burn on top of water and even couldn't be put out with water? This was Greek Fire! We discuss Sylphium, Mithridatium, Nepenthe, flexible glass, the Lycurgus Cup, Damascus Steel, Stradivarius Violins and Roman Cement, all amazing inventions, or plants that were in common usage in their time that have become simply lost to history. So come on in, sit down a spell and learn about some cool inventions with us!!!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/family-plot--4670465/support.
