In This Episode It's an ACP Round Table! Join Weer'd, Erin, David, and Oddball as we discuss: The ATF has their new ruling on Pistol Braces, and it sucks! The ATF and the FBI have a watch list of people that alerts when they buy a gun. (We already knew this, but it's good to see evidence.) Erin found an amazing tool that shows defensive gun use as it appears in the media aggregated in an interactive map. Last week we talked about the pending Illinois Assault Weapon Ban, and in the time it took to publish that show, the thing passed. Thankfully, most of the state has chosen not to cooperate! A Federal Judge blocks the New Jersey anti-carry laws. Another Federal Judge allows the same in New York, but it isn't all bad. We discuss a Canadian Mountie who broke the law, and made out pretty well because he's law enforcement. Finally, Wells Fargo is becoming more anti-gun, this time cancelling the business account of a gun shop in Florida. Did you know that we have a Patreon? Steve & Kristin Austin are back in not-so-sunny So Cal and doing the first podcast from 317 Gimmick Street (that's no typo)! They share travel stories, and then Steve tackles your questions about squared circle communication & talking trash, blading & kicking out of pins, Stone Cold's last match, shooting arrows at Vince McMahon, the Bionic Redneck Gimmick, Beatles vs Stones, Led Zeppelin vs Rush, and the return of the Ford Bronco. He's also ranting on some first world problems plaguing the city of angels.
In This Episode: Things are backwards so we start with Oddball with a review of the Cold Steel Espada Erin and Weer'd then discuss the news of the new year: We now have a 25th Constitutional/Permitless carry state, and maybe soon a 26th! Shannon Watts is leaving Moms Demand Action, and we speculate what her reasons might be. A woman in Philadelphia defended herself with a lawfully carried gun, and that's not even the most interesting thing about this story. Illinois is attempting to ban "Assault Weapons" and further restrict the Second Amendment to residents. The ATF is further cracking down on 80% Firearms. A friend of Erin was shot in Chicago! And saving the best for last, the Bumpstock Ban has been declared unconstitutional by the 5th Circuit! Did you know that we have a Patreon? It's not the holidays in the Southwest without your favorite tamales or without attending an all-night tamale making party. These delicious, corn-wrapped gifts have origins dating back more than 10,000 years in Mexico. Garcia, the artist behind the Tamale Man comic book series. Plus, we check in with Inez Cook (Nuxalk Nation), owner of Salmon n' Bannock Bistro and Salmon n' Bannock on the Fly, a brand-new Indigenous restaurant opening at Vancouver International Airport.
In This Episode It's an ACP Round Table! Join Weer'd, Erin, David, and Oddball as they exchange gifts and discuss these news stories: There was a mass shooting in Australia, despite all the stories saying this never happens. There was also a mass shooting in Canada, which they admit happens, but certainly not as much in America. In America there could have been a spree killing, but a brave armed citizen shot the attacker. The CDC colluded with anti-gun groups to scrub defensive gun uses from data. Injunctions against Oregon and California anti-gun laws were made. And... California Police are allowed to use lethal force with robots? Did you know that we have a Patreon? Summary of the Apostles' Creed. The Apostle's Creed is a summary of the Christian faith that depicts the full story of scripture. The Apostle's Creed contains one of the most concise summaries of the Christian faith in straightforward scriptural language. It follows the narrative arch of scripture from creation to incarnation, crucifixion to resurrection, and Pentecost to life everlasting. The Apostle's Creed reminds us that our story and church are rooted in an ancient faith. There is no singular author by which this creed can be traced, rather it is the work of the Western Catholic Church. Though, it seems to have grown out of Peter's confession in Matthew 16:16. Its origin is as a baptismal confession, those that are laying down their life to join Christ in his death and resurrection (Romans 6:4) confess this as their new reality and guiding story. The Apostle's Creed is not simply a routine repetition of doctrine but rather our pledge of allegiance to one God– Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is not a routine repetition of doctrine. It is a liturgical poem meant to move our heart as a pledge of allegiance to the triune God revealed in the person of Christ.HOLY SPIRIT IN CULTURE For many, the Holy Spirit has not been acknowledged or even worse, has been used as a weapon. And for those who do not belong to the Christian community, the spirit has become a thing of good vibes, a feeling. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that research has shown that US adults have very little understanding of the Spirit. In a study conducted by LifeWay Research in 2018, a majority of US adults, 59%, say that the Holy Spirit is a force, not a personal being. The Holy Spirit in the story of scripture:CreationThe Old TestamentJesus The Early Church Us CREATION“20 The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. 21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.” –Genesis 2:20-22 OLD TESTAMENTFast forward in the story to Exodus 40 where we see God's presence no longer in us, but as a dense, visible cloud by day and a fire by night that led the Israeliteis out of Egypt. In 1 Kings 8, the tabernacle has become a more permanent home called the temple. And as we see throughout the rest of the Old Testament, the temple is good but it is incomplete. It is good because God's presence is with God's people. JESUS14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. – John 1:14The word became flesh is the person of God becoming the living, breathing, physical being of Jesus. The Greek word for dwelt means Jesus in the flesh pitched his tabernacle or lived in his tent among us. “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.” – John 20:21-23We learn that upon resurrection Jesus says the spirit that I was given, that has been in me, is now given to you. As I have been a living, breathing tabernacle, you are now a living breathing tabernacle. THE EARLY CHURCHIn Acts, the early church, the disciples begin to do the very things that Jesus had been doing. The disciples are freed from prisonParalytics are healed Paul heals a man who falls out of a window while he is preaching Daily they feed people And they also suffer just as Christ suffered. “16 Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?”– 1 Corinthians 3:16US“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?”– 1 Corinthians 6:19Once again, the Spirit of God is tabernacled within us just as it was in creation. In creation, the Holy Spirit is seen through Adam and Even as God affirms their bodies as a dwelling place for God's spirit- living temples. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit is seen through Moses' tabernacle and Solomon's temple as he comes to live in the heart of a city with God's people. In Jesus, the Holy Spirit is seen through Jesus as it comes to live in Jesus. And through Jesus' life, death, and resurrection every barrier between God and us is broken. In the Church, the Holy Spirit is seen through the gathering of God's people. God's spirit binds us every time we are together and we know he is here in our midst. In us, the Holy Spirit takes up residence. He dwells in us as our bodies become temples. It is intimate and it is offered to anyone who accepts Jesus' offer of grace. We are filled with God's spirit exactly as Jesus was. God's Presence “God's goal was never to get us into his presence. It was to get his presence into us.” – Tyler Staton“7 The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all. 8 To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. 9 To others the same Spirit gives faith. To others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. 10 To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages. 11 All the gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as he decides.” – 1 Corinthians 12:7-11“It is the lived conviction that everything, absolutely everything in the scriptures is livable, not just true, but livable… This is the supernatural core, the lived resurrection and Holy Spirit core of the Christian life.” – Euguene Peterson

In this episode of the R3 Podcast, Rudy explores what might‘ve been if he had made some different choices in his life by talking with his friend multi-instrumentalist and social media icon THE Mike Squires. Instead of talking about the obvious stuff, Rudy steers the conversation towards a game of one-up-man-ship over who's had more jobs. Some other topics come up, mostly deep philosophical stuff cuz Rudy is in the middle of an existential crisis. And oh yeah, this episode may or may not contain audio of an actual murder. We're not saying, but apologize if such things are triggering for you. Don't worry, you can skip the first six minutes of the episode and just get to the good parts with Mike. Also, cancer is never mentioned in this episode, but hopefully it will give you some insight into life anyway. And we never discuss Mike being a volunteer fireman. Today, we will talk not about being forgiven, but about why it is so important to forgive those around you if you want to build the life you choose. There were a few more items restocked in the Health aisle, but the food and drink coolers are now all very depleted. The food aisle still looks good though, and canned mackerel (although a different kind) has returned. I believe there were at least a couple of extra employees stocking shelves, but it appeared to be very random what they were putting out. I've seen more glassware available there lately. Home Depot was next. A 2x4x8 has dropped again, to $3.75. It was hard to tell because some things have moved around, but I think they got in some more Duracell and/or Ray-o-vac batteries, as most of the battery shelves at checkout had some products on them. Aldi was last. There was a lot more chicken there than in recent weeks, a good amount of lunchmeat, and most areas looked good. The only notable exception were the cantaloupes. They had a lot of them, but they all looked wrinkly, suggesting age and/or poor storage conditions. I didn't see any significant holes, and we found everything we wanted. All three places were busier than I remember, even for a Saturday. It did not look like anyone was panic-buying; they just all decided to go shopping. I didn't stop, but untainted gasoline remains at $4.199/gallon. Frugality Tip from Margo I am a cheap person, or frugal I guess is a better label lol. Operation Independence All hands on preparing for the Food Forest Class 1.5 lambs remain available Main topic of the Show: Forgive I have been pondering some deep things lately, among them are punitive actions that we humans take against others who do things “illegal.” I basically started because one of my friends was mad at another friend for her “Unchristian” lifestyle. I started thinking about the large numbers of Christians in my life who never ask anyone's religious views, who love those around them unconditionally, and who also manage to do this without getting hurt. Why? One thing they share is a large capacity for forgiveness. Then this tweet came out: Tweet fro Cyprian (Vin Armani) While on the cross, Christ interceded on behalf of those who crucified Him, seeking that they might be forgiven and, thereby, saved. "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." When you wish destruction on those whose degeneracy disgusts you, whom are you serving? BUT WHY does forgiving lead to a better life? You move into the future and let go of the past so your mindset is right >Story of my nonprofit years and losing my largest donor You stop evaluating new relationships with the lens of the old >Story of the first fiance and interceding two decades of troubled relationships Your energy is on building good things, rather than seeping into non salvageable things >Website clients who never pay their balance and collections >The $240 commercial meat slicer >John Willis when you do something wrong What does forgive and forget mean to me? >Laprises and morning cuddles Landing: Forgiving yourself. This week I am going to conlude the Jerry Atkins Collection series with a couple of albums each by Buddy Bregman, Stan Kenton and Gene Krupa. Jerry was the man responsible for starting my career on public radio in Texarkana, Texas. It was while I was working at KTXK that our station manager asked me if I thought I could produce a big band show to air at 10:00pm Saturday eveings. I have been producing shows since 2006. Jerry passed away in 2010 and we are fortunate to have his extensive record collection at the station. I will continue to go through the many albums as time is available and play some more of these great albums from my friend, Jerry Atkins and his wonderful record collection. We've been so so so busy the last few months with important Kpop business that we haven't had any time to just gab and chitty chat on the show about Kpop news and comebacks and such. So let's do that today! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Let me say one word to you: Nuts. Now, let me say one name to you: Ted Cruz. They've become synonymous, with the Texas lawmaker perennially topping national lists of goofy, right-wing political goobers. Only, Ted can't rightly be called a lawmaker, for he's not a serious participant in that process, instead devoting his senatorship to political stunts and picking silly PR fights with a growing list of enemies. Running out of people to attack, Ted has found another species for his vitriol: Fictional icons. He's been padding his right-wing credentials by going after Mr. Potato Head, Mickey and Pluto, and, believe it or not, Muppets. This US senator has dedicated the power and public resources of his office to demonize popular creatures on “Sesame Street,” specifically Big Bird and loveable little Elmo. Ted rants he has proof that Muppets are covert tools of “government propaganda.” So, this ridiculous excuse of a senator is saving America from… Muppets. But for a whole bag of assorted nuttiness, you can't beat Sen. Rick Scott's 11-point plan to “Rescue America.” A disgraced former healthcare mogul, this mega-millionaire reinvented himself as a wingnut Florida senator, and he now chairs a policy arm of the Republican Party. In February, he set forth a stunning agenda of far-out right-wing extremism that he says his party will push if they re-take the senate this November, including: Implementing new federal taxes on the poorest half of Americans. So – as Scott puts it – they'll “have skin in the game.” “Stopping socialism” by terminating Social Security and Medicare. Spending unlimited billions to build Donald Trump's folly of a border wall (and, ironically, naming the scam after The Donald). Fiddle-faddlers like Cruz and Scott have turned the once-proud US Senate into The Little Nut Shoppe on the Hill.
