6/16/25: Ross Bjork Talks Buckeye Sports Group, Steelers QB Will Howard Learns From Aaron Rodgers & So Much More!
On his weekly Chipped Ham & Football podcast, Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko welcomes QB Will Howard to talk about his transition from winning a championship with the Ohio State Buckeyes in college to life as a sixth-round NFL draft pick. Howard explains how he's been getting involved in the community with other rookies this week; his rapport with new teammate Aaron Rodgers in the QB room; the importance of earning respect in the eyes of coach Mike Tomlin; and his growing relationship with receivers including DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, Robert Woods, Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington. Then later, the guys take a look ahead to Howard's first Steelers training camp next month at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe.
Dave Weekley breaks down the surreal reality of Aaron Rodgers officially joining the Pittsburgh Steelers with his first minicamp appearance and press conference. From his developing connection with rookie QB Will Howard to syncing with second-year center Zach Frazier, Rodgers is already shaping the tone for his Steelers tenure. The conversation explores Rodgers' late signing, personal reasons behind his delay, his admiration for Mike Tomlin, and shutting down Minnesota rumors. Plus, insight into his evolving leadership style, past mentoring perceptions, and the significance of Pittsburgh in the broader legacy of NFL quarterback history.
May 26, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 138 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into previewing the upcoming OTA sessions the Pittsburgh Steelers will go through beginning on Tuesday. We go over several things we will be looking for during the 2025 OTAs as it relates to several players, roles, and alignments. Veteran free age t QB Aaron Rodgers mase several interesting comments during a question-and-answer session at a recent musical event sop Alex and I make sure to go over those. We discuss whether or not Rodgers will sign with the Steelers in the next 24 hours and if it is fair to expect him to at least join the team by the start of the annual mandatory minicamp. Thanks to a recent study that Alex did on Steelers rookie QB Will Howard from his college career, we can effectively bust the recent narrative concerning his under-center experience as he enters the NFL. We go over his under-center snaps in college relative to all of the drafted quarterbacks this year. Alex and I go over my Steelers' cash-spending post that went up on the site on Sunday. We discuss how much more cash the Steelers should be expected to spend this offseason, who they are likely to spend that cash on, and why. While talking about cash spending as it relates to the Steelers, Alex and I discuss the difference between cash dollars and cap dollars. We also discuss what the NFL might do moving forward to potentially address cap integrity issues the league might be undergoing right now and especially since the COVID years. It's a lengthy conversation, but an informative one just the same. This 117-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. We end this show by answering several emails we received from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
May 21, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 136 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and that includes the waiving of OL Lecitus Smith on Tuesday. We go on to discuss the current depth issues facing the Steelers this summer when it comes to their offensive line unit. The NFL is addressing and voting on several rule change proposals on Wednesday, so Alex and I make sure to recap all of those. We discuss NFL players now being allowed to compete in the Olympics in flag football, the fairness of the Tush Push and the new rule concerning onside kickoffs. Alex and I briefly look ahead at the teams that might be looking to select a quarterback in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft and how that could impact the Steelers wanting to do so. We also briefly discuss how much work Steelers rookie QB Will Howard might get this summer in training camp and the preseason. Howard had an interview with Kay Adams at the annual NFL Rookie Premier event, so we go over a few things that he said during it. The Steelers reportedly indeed had some level of interest in trading for New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave earlier in the offseason, so Alex and I go over that little nugget that was passed along on Wednesday morning. Alex and I then move on to talk about Steelers rookie RB Kaleb Johnson as it relates to his pass protection ability in college. We go over what the tape says concerning that phase of his game. Steelers DT Cameron Heyward made his thoughts known recently about the team's travel plans for their last international game several years ago, so we make sure to go over his comments on that topic. This 83-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. May 19, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 135 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, which was recorded Sunday night, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the latest rumor concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers possibly trading for New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave. Alex and I look at all angles related to Olave and that includes his contract, his health, the Saints wide receiver depth chart, and much more. We go over what a few beat writers that cover the Saints think about the possibility of Olave being traded as well. As a whole, Alex and I come to the conclusion that the Steelers are very unlikely to trade for Olave this summer. Alex and I then go over a short list of wide receivers that the Steelers might consider trading for this offseason if Olave winds up being unobtainable. Will and should the Steelers sign WR Calvin Austin III to a contract extension this offseason? Alex and I attempt to answer those questions during this show. We also look at the overall probability that Austin will be signed to an extension this offseason. We discuss what a strong 2025 season would look like for Austin as well. Is there a drop-dead date for veteran free agent QB Aaron Rodgers when it comes to the Steelers needing a decision from him? Alex and I attempt to answer that question during this show. Alex and I later provide our top-five outside additions the Steelers have made so far this offseason either through free agency or the draft. Much later in this show, Alex and I discuss the possibility of rookie QB Will Howard seeing playing time in 2025 based on history of third-string quarterbacks being needed around the NFL in recent seasons. This 83-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap as well. Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Brian Batko and Ray Fittipaldo recap the first day of rookie minicamp for NFL draft selections and undrafted free agents at the team's South Side facility. Why did QB Will Howard look and sound impressive as he looks to find his way alongside Mason Rudolph and -- possibly -- Aaron Rodgers? What did Derrick Harmon have to say about navigating the joy of being drafted alongside the grief of losing his mother soon after? How is he connecting with new teammates including Cam Heyward and Keenau Benton? How did fifth-round pick Yahya Black look alongside him? How is RB Kaleb Johnson progressing? And is Carson Bruener showing signs that he can contribute on special teams? Our duo tackles those questions and more.
May 7, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 131 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers trading WR George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. We go over the trade details to start with. Alex and I discuss the Pickens' exit via a trade from several different angles during this show. We talk about why they possibly didn't trade him before or during the draft. We also discuss the team not drafting a wide receiver this year and go over those available players at that position that were still on the board at the conclusion of the second round. Could any of these players offered significant contributions to the Steelers in 2025 as rookies? We discuss that question. Will the Steelers look to add another experienced wide receiver now that Pickens has been traded? We attempt to answer that question and even build a compact list of wide receivers the Steelers might could trade for or sign as free agents. We make sure to question the Steelers plan at wide receiver at this point and especially on the heels of what transpired in 2024 at that position. Does the trading of Pickens at all impact the decision that veteran QB Aaron Rodgers has yet to make when it comes to him possibly signing with the Steelers? We address that question as well. After thoroughly looking at the Pickens' situation and impact of the trade from all angles, Alex and I move on to briefly discuss former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger having QB Will Howard and OLB Jack Sawyer, two members of this year's draft class, on the latest episode of his podcast. This 85-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap as well. We discuss how different the offense might look in 2025 and the various reasons why. For the next topic, we discuss the high level of hype surrounding sixth-round QB Will Howard. How or when will he get his opportunity, and why did he slide to the sixth round? We grapple with all of those questions and more. For the third topic, we talk about some of the top things to watch at Rookie Minicamp this upcoming weekend including drafted rookies, undrafted free agents and tryout players. To wrap things up we answer a listener question about George Pickens supposed compensatory value if the Steelers don't trade him. April 29 – Ep. 53: On this episode of The Depot Dive, Joe Clark and Ross McCorkle dive right into recapping the Steelers' 2025 NFL Draft class. We discuss Derrick Harmon and his reported injury concern, the theme of marrying great value with positional need and which pick was our favorite of the class. For the next topic, we discuss the quarterback position after the Steelers passed on the position until the sixth round. We also talk about QB Will Howard and how he fits into the equation now and in the future. April 27, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 127 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Sunday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the day-3 selections that the Pittsburgh Steelers made in the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday. That means we talk quite a bit about OLB Jack Sawyer, DT Yahya Black, QB Will Howard, ILB Carson Bruener, and CB Donte Kent. We go over the value of those final five draft selections, who remained on the board in a few of those day-3 rounds and much more. We discuss the players in that group we will hurry to learn more about as well. The Steelers also added seven undrafted free agents on Saturday night so Alex and I go over that list of players and the little bit we know about each of them. We touch a little bit on the draft drop of QB Shedeur Sanders, who was ultimately selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round. We make sure to blast ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. for his rants about the Sanders and the Steelers bypassing him. Alex and I put our first bow around the Steelers 2025 draft class later in this show and also talk about how WR DK Metcalf was essentially the team's second round pick this year. We also talk about the Steelers not trading WR George Pickens during the draft and what that means for him. Pat and Aaron break down National Championship winning QB Will Howard's combine performance over the weekend. Did the Ohio State QB severely hurt his stock? We discuss here.
One year ago, Ohio State added former Kansas State transfer QB Will Howard to its roster, and entered spring with some uncertainty about whether Howard would be good enough to lead the team to a championship. Twelve months later, Howard is at the NFL Combine after winning a national championship, and Ryan Day and the Buckeyes are trying to figure out how they can replace him.Thursday at the NFL Combine, former OSU cornerback Denzel Burke, always one of the most brutally-honest interview subjects in the program, shared his thoughts on the upcoming QB battle. Tony Gerdeman of BuckeyeHuddle.com takes a look at how things could shake out between Julian Sayin, Lincoln Kienholz, Tavien St. Clair, and more.
Send us a textDrew and Rob are back with another packed episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates*, covering the latest headlines surrounding the New York Giants. The coaching carousel has settled, and Mike Kafka is officially returning as the Giants' offensive coordinator after Kellen Moore was hired by the Saints. Despite some speculation that Kafka could land the job in New Orleans, he remains in New York, ensuring continuity on Brian Daboll's staff. What does this mean for the Giants' offensive approach in 2025, and how does it impact their ongoing search for a quarterback? Speaking of quarterbacks, the Giants are expected to pair a rookie signal-caller with a veteran this offseason. Sports Illustrated's Connor Orr suggests that Big Blue could target Bengals backup Jake Browning as a bridge QB, allowing a potential rookie—like Cam Ward—to develop. Browning impressed in Joe Burrow's absence last season, winning four of his seven starts and completing over 70% of his passes. The Giants hold the third overall pick in the draft, but could they also make a move for a seasoned quarterback to steady the ship? While the Giants are focused on their rebuild, they face some brutal odds heading into next season. BetMGM currently lists them at 200-1 to win the Super Bowl—the worst odds in the NFL. Even teams like the Raiders, Browns, and Saints, who are also dealing with major uncertainties, have better chances according to the sportsbooks. Can the Giants use this as motivation to prove the doubters wrong? Off the field, Giants fans got a reminder of their NFC East rivals' success when Jermaine Eluemunor found himself unintentionally caught up in the Eagles' Super Bowl parade at Disney. The veteran lineman took to social media, joking that he had to endure the Eagles' chant while trying to enjoy his last day at the park with his daughter. Meanwhile, Michael Strahan stirred up controversy among Giants fans when he waved an Eagles flag and said, "Fly Eagles Fly" during the Super Bowl pregame show. Amani Toomer didn't hold back, calling it a "shot across the bow" and insisting that former Giants players have every right to demand better from the franchise. Carl Banks backed him up, making it clear that the Giants' alumni are frustrated with the state of the team. Looking ahead to the draft, Drew and Rob break down Ohio State quarterback Will Howard, who is rising up draft boards after leading the Buckeyes to a national championship. Howard's journey from Kansas State backup to championship-winning QB has been remarkable, and his skill set could fit well in Brian Daboll's system. He's got the arm strength and athleticism but still needs refinement in his mechanics and post-snap reads. Could the Giants target him in the middle rounds if they miss out on one of the top-tier quarterback prospects? With the Giants holding the third spot in waiver priority, their offseason moves are just beginning. Who will they add, and what other changes are in store for Big Blue? The expectation entering the 2024 Ohio State football season was that QB Will Howard just had to do enough to keep things moving on offense, and that efficiency and effectiveness would be plenty to win. Howard lived up to that standard on Saturday night in Eugene, completing 80 percent of his passes for more than 300 yards, a pair of touchdowns, and no interceptions, but the Ducks pulled out a final minute win. So how would Ohio State head coach Ryan Day evaluate Howard's play? And what does Howard think about his game? You'll hear those answers and more on this episode of the Buckeyes TomOrrow Morning podcast.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are about to head west to Eugene, Oregon to take on the Oregon Ducks in one of the most-anticipated regular-season matchups on the 2024 college football schedule. But before they could shift their focus to Dan Lanning's team, they had to handle their business against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Did their play against Iowa answer any big questions about the Oregon game?In this episode of the Buckeyes TomOrrow Morning podcast, you'll hear directly from Ohio State head coach Ryan Day about that and much more, including the play of QB Will Howard, the return of DT Tyleik Williams, and Emeka Egbuka's three-touchdown day.
The Ohio State Buckeyes open the 2024 Big Ten football season this Saturday night at 7:30 pm against the Michigan State Spartans. It is not only the first conference game of the season for Ryan Day but also their first road game of the season.Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr of BuckeyeHuddle.com break down what they learned about this weekend's game while talking to Day, defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, and QB Will Howard on this special live episode of the Buckeyes TomOrrow Morning podcast.
The Buckeyes rolled in their out of conference finale on Saturday at the Shoe, cruising to a 49-14 victory. The Ohio State defense showed some flashed of morality, as they gave up their first two TD drives of the season in the first half, before bouncing back for a second half shutout. QB Will Howard also threw his first INT as a Buckeye, but that was seemingly the only slip up for the offense that was able to crank out big play after big play all afternoon long. How are we feeling about Ryan Day's squad as they travel to East Lansing for the first conference game of the season against Michigan State? Ohio State football needed a QB upgrade from Kyle McCord, and they got it in the transfer portal by securing Will Howard from Kansas State. The question is: what are the realistic expectations for Howard this upcoming season? Will he be good enough to win a Heisman with the plethora of weapons at his disposal? Or does Ryan Day just need him to be a serviceable QB in order for the Buckeyes to beat Michigan and win the Big Ten? Let's discuss. The number one goal for the Ohio State football program and head coach Ryan Day this offseason was to level up the offense. After subpar QB play from Kyle McCord for most of last season, and an abysmal offensive showing in the Cotton Bowl vs Missouri, changes needed to be made. The Buckeyes brought in QB Will Howard from Kansas State and RB Quinshon Judkins from Ole Miss in the transfer portal. Day also recruited offensive guru Chip Kelly to call plays. With training camp starting tomorrow, the main focus will be on whether or not this offense is capable of beating Michigan and making a run at a college football national championship. But first, Andy breaks down Central Michigan coach Jim McElwain's statement that no one at Central Michigan knows how that "sign-stealer guy" got on the Chippewas' sideline at Michigan State. Next, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin continues his pattern of conducting a press conference psy-op prior to a big game. In this edition, Kiffin turns a question about his team being in the top 10 into a chance to take a shot at Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher. Then Kansas State QB Will Howard joins the show to talk about a matchup with Texas on Saturday that could help determine who plays in the Big 12 championship. In the past two weeks, Kansas State has beaten TCU and Houston by a combined score of 82-3. Next, it's time for your questions. Will the sign-stealing accusations motivate the actual Michigan football team? How does a fan deal with the possibility that his favorite program broke rules? An Ohio State fan (of course) wants to know if Michigan should get the (NCAA) death penalty. What are the chances of the last four-team playoff having the same four teams as the first one after the 2014 season? Will Texas A&M fire Jimbo Fisher? Learn more about your ad choices.
