As you embark on your decluttering and simplifying journey, you start to ask yourself questions such as: What am I making space for? What dreams have been buried in the stuff and chaos around me? Where do I find my self-worth as a mom and woman? Is it in the roles that I play and the things I own, or something deeper? When we start simplifying and creating space in our homes, calendars, and minds, it opens up so much more than extra square footage or hours in our day. It allows us to dream, to see where our self-worth truly comes from outside what we have and what we do, and to reach our greatest potential as moms and women. On today's episode, simplicity coach Rose Lounsbury and I discuss these topics and much more! Rose helps busy working moms declutter their homes, simplify their work lives, and clear their minds. After struggling to balance a teaching career and 2-year-old triplets, Rose was introduced to minimalism in 2012. Inspired by the “less is more” philosophy, she let go of 70% of her family's possessions in eight months. She eventually left the classroom to pursue a career helping other working moms create happier lives with less stuff. Rose's advice has been featured on TEDx and USA Today, and she's been a guest on Good Day Columbus, WYSO, WVXU, and Good Morning Cincinnati. She reflects on how the true joy of Christmas is found in moments shared with family, not the accumulation of gifts. Her insights urge readers to consider the lasting value of experiences over material possessions. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://roselounsbury.com/spend-just-100-holidays/ Quotes to ponder: "The gifts we give don't matter as much as the time we spend." Rose Lounsbury is a keynote speaker, an Amazon bestselling author, simplicity coach and the still-sane mom of triplets. She helps overwhelmed people create open spaces in their homes, their workspaces, and more importantly in their minds by letting go of the excess stuff that gets in the way.   In today's episode, Rose teaches us why towels are a great place to start when we're looking to simplify our lives. What do we do about gifts? Hobbies? Or everything that occupies our space, energy, or time? These questions (and more) are answered in this conversation between Rose and Jesse.   Key Takeaways: What is bimodal spending? And how can you apply it? Don't be afraid to spend on the things you really care about (and cut out what you don't). How to decide what's useful to you and what's beautiful. How to be a better gift giver and receiver.  How to pay attention to mental patterns that may be cluttering our minds. Start with decluttering the physical space, and then carry on to the mental space.   Mentions:

Rose Lounsbury talks about living in the big little moments Episode 2488: The In-Between: Learning to Live in the Big Little Moments by Rose Lounsbury Rose Lounsbury is a keynote speaker, Amazon bestselling author, simplicity coach, and still-sane mom of triplets. (Yes, you heard that right!) She helps overwhelmed people create open spaces in their homes, workspaces, and more importantly–their minds–by letting go of the excess stuff that gets in the way. Rose started her own simplicity journey in 2012, after getting fed up with spending all of her free time dealing with my stuff. As she slowly let go of everything that didn't matter to her, she discovered some amazing things: free time, peace of mind, & clarity. Rose became a simplicity coach to help others do the same thing.
