The ordeal of Russell Bentley means much to me, mainly cos I've considered him a friend. We had common political views and I admired him for his commitment to them. Rolo also interviwed Russell a couple of times, he wrote about this tragic episode, and today I would like to know his opinion on this still misterious event. Bear in mind that my position is pro Russian, I do not hide it. #russell #russelltexasbentley #donetskwar #heroofdonetsk

GUEST HOST: Jeremy Beck On today's show Russell Bentley gives an update on the frontlines in the Donbass region. GUEST OVERVIEW: Russell "Texas" Bentley was born in 1960 in Austin, Texas. A voracious reader, he grew up in the times of the Vietnam War and Civil Rights movement. At a young age he understood that the perspective of the world might be very different from that of the USA. He served in the US Army from 1981 to '84, but kept on reading, especially about politics and history. After the NATO attack on Yugoslavia, the Gulf War, 9/11, the attacks on Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Libya, when he saw the regime change operation in Kiev in 2014, he had to do something more than just comment on Facebook. He arrived in Donetsk in December 2014, and a week later joined the People's Militia. As a member of VOSTOK Battalion, Essence of Time and KHAN Spetsnaz, he served in combat for over a year, in some of the heaviest fighting, including at Donetsk airport, Spartak and Avdeevka. At the end of 2015, at the age of 55, he transitioned from a spetsnaz soldier into an Information Warrior and human aid volunteer, work that he continues to this day. He is married, and has a small house with a big garden in the Petrovsky District of Donetsk about 5 km from the front lines in the ongoing war.

Host Jo Reed and AudioFile's Michele Cobb discuss Jeannette McCurdy's best-selling new memoir about her childhood acting and her abusive mother. McCurdy uses a dynamic voice for her mother's parts and a flat one for much of her own dialogue. Known for her slapstick comedy on Nickelodeon, McCurdy shares her dark adolescence out of the limelight. Years after her mother's death, she is now coming to terms with the abuse she endured. Written between AD 97 and 112, the extant letters give us a unique insight into Imperial Rome under the early Antonine emperors. Organised into 10 books, the letters reflect a wide range of topics, mirroring Pliny's own public and private interests. Among many other subjects, the letters also include an eye-witness account of the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Call with Russell Bentley live from Donetsk, which was formerly in Ukraine and then voted to be a republic in 2014. Donetsk and Luhansk having referendums this week about joining with Russia. Are there Chinese or N. Korean troops in Ukraine? Russell says no, and whatever mainstream media tells you, you can assume the opposite. Corporations are profiting from the 10 time increase in LNG gas prices while the poor consumer suffers. European court tells Russia in 2020 that they must sell LNG at capped rates. No legal basis for the decision. Deprived Russia of their just profits. Donetsk occupied by German Nazis in 1941. Many Ukrainians became collaborators. Germans called them Schweinhund – pig dogs. Ukrainian Nazis went underground after Russia won in WWII. Supported by west with a propaganda operation. Operation Gladio. Putin will not lose this war. Has been careful to minimize damage and civilian and troop loss. This Is a war of NATO and the west against Russia. Is a war for the future of humanity. They want famine, depopulation and destruction. Why is the west blocking mainstream Russian media channels, like RT? People are being lied to by their government and mainstream media. What don't they want us to hear? The Moon of Alabama is a truthful site. Also, The GrayZone, Max Blumenthal. The Saker, Vk on Facebook, the Duran, Alex Mercouris. Beware of Gonzalo Lira, NPR. Putin has done a limited conscription of 300,000 men. Calling up reserves with experience and special skills. Russians understand whoever defends Donbas defends Russia. Russia initially came in and thought they could do a gentle invasion. An error of being too honorable and too compassionate. Up against head-chopping, cannibal Nazi Ukrainians. Chrystia Freeland is deputy prime minister of Canada and minister of finance. Her father was a Nazi collaborator. If Putin pushed up against the wall, he will use nuclear armaments. He says a world without Russia is not worth living in. Davos crowd, WEF - they want to be like God, to be God, and that's who we're fighting against. WEF transhumanist Yuval Harari thinks humans don't have souls. Russia allows media that is anti-Russian and promotes the Ukrainian side. A trust that Russians can detect BS and know that reports of Russia bombing Donbass are false. Support for Putin is around 80%. Profits from LNG priced 10 times higher now is supporting the ruble, the best performing currency in the world. Russia didn't have the political and economic power in 2014 to fight the Ukrainian coup d'état. Higher profits from selling energy now. China, Brazil, India, South Africa now in alliance with Russia. 75% of the nations in the world support Russia. Production of agricultural fertilizer is a major industry. Fertilizer producers shut down because they couldn't pay energy prices to make it. Farmers didn't have fertilizer this year. Russia offered to give free fertilizer to poor countries of the world. Coming food crisis. Nordstream 1 pipeline supplies 40% of all LNG to Europe. Nordstream 2 would double capacity at reasonable prices. Pipelines shut down, energy market now completely destabilized. People that own the US wanted to destroy Europe as an economic competitor, return them to the Middle Ages. US will be next. You'll own nothing, but you're not going to be happy. German journalist Alina Lipp who reported from Ukraine was threatened. Germany took her assets, jailed her. Then went after her mother. Still food in Donetsk grocery stores, but prices have escalated. GMO foods not allowed. Russian rubles, Euro, US dollars used as currency.
Vasily Prozorov is a former Ukrainian Secret Service (SBU) agent, working for the Ukrainian government between 1999 and 2018. Not unlike Julian Assange, he is currently exposing the Ukrainian government's corruption and crimes, including the atrocities committed by the Ukrainian government, such as killing its own citizens, from 2014 to today. Watch the video that Russell Bentley - a soldier living in Donetsk - sent me. Vasily can't speak English, and I can't speak Russian (or Ukainian), so we were joined by a translator in Moscow. It was an incredibly difficult conversation to conduct, so the video was produced by my friend Justus Killian (who is also the mastermind behind the Jerm Warfare intro video). Furthermore, Vasily spoke to me from a war zone, so his internet connection was poor. He has agreed to return for a longer and more in-depth conversation soon. PLEASE SUPPORT MY WORK.
The Perspective of a Donetsk Separatist vs the Worthiness of the US Govt Narrative We ask everyone to step outside their thinking and emotions about the conflict between the US and NATO and Ukraine government on the one side and ask you to consider what must Russia and the separatist declared republics of Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea on the other side be thinking. We are joined by native Texan and Novorussian Army combat vet since 2014 Russell Bentley who joins BLID from the Donetsk People's Republic formerly Southeast Ukraine. We consider and explicate the following factual elements which all have been practically ignored by US mainstream media. 1. We claim Ukraine is a sovereign nation that is entitled to make independent sovereign choices regarding whether it wants to join NATO or not. However, what is ignored in this framing is that we illegally overthrew their elected government in 2014 and installed a government that is loyal not to Ukrainian majority pop. interests first but to US dictates. 2. That Russia has national security interests and has a right and duty to its citizens to respond to real national security threats. 3. That in Luhansk, Donetsk & Crimea some 80% voted for the President we couped out in 2014 4. That following the US February 2014 coup came an enormous empowering of Neo-Nazi ideologists as government cabinet appointments that for the first time since the end of WWII resulted in a European government being riddled with neo-Nazi sympathizers that moved quickly to outlaw the Russian language, relegated ethnic Russians to second class citizens, and characterized them as "insects" that should be exterminated. 5. That while 6 million jews were ‘exterminated' by Nazi Germany in WWII the Russians lost more than 4x than number in their decisive WWII role in the defeat of the Nazis and that the coup brought back to the doorstep of the Russian border not only regular NATO exercises but also ‘flag waving' Neo Nazi forces of the same ilk that killed 25m Russians just a generation ago. 6. That on May 2, 2014, amidst other right wing military attacks, over 40 opponents of the coup regime protesting the coup of just three months earlier were killed in the Odessa Trade Union House when neo-Nazi fascists set fire to the building and prevented the victims from leaving while post-coup ‘police' looked on. It is suggested that this was a great impetus for the separatist movements in Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea and helped explain the overwhelming margins of victory in their individual voting referendums that were also ignored by our media. Have you listened to a Victorian novel lately? Host Jo Reed and AudioFile’s Alan Minskoff discuss the joy of this ensemble narration of Wilkie Collins’s classic NO NAME. The talented Nicholas Boulton is the primary narrator, and his ability to mimic the elite and humble and capture their cadence and tone is unrivaled. His subtle inflections shape this long but satisfying performance. The stalwart cast transports listeners to 1840s London and the countryside. The novel is filled with unforgettable characters, and like his friend Dickens, Collins writes in torrents of descriptive prose and crafts a clever plot. Published by Naxos AudioBooks. He has moved from track running into marathon running, earning a personal best of 2.20.20 in the Berlin Marathon. He is now based in the hills of Snowdonia. He works a 40hr week on building site, running 100 miles on the roads, whilst coming home to play with the kids, and did I mention he is a running coach?! He also has experience in the upper echelons of university administration (formerly Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor of Education at the University of Southampton), from which he brings to us some uncommonly frank and revealing insights into higher education today. I invited Russell to chat with me because there are very few people I’ve met in academia who are at once so professional and candid about their views from within the belly of the beast. You can find Russell on Twitter at @RKBntly.
