On this day, 11 July 1989, a huge strike began of miners in the Soviet Union demanding better food supplies, cleaner working conditions, adequate housing, better care of the environment in mining areas, and rights to share management of the mines.In March, two brief strikes occurred at the Lidiieka and Kirov mines in Donbass, Ukraine. In July a much bigger strike began in both the Donbass and the Kuznetsky basin in Western Siberia. Within a few days, the strike had grown to 100,000 workers, and threatened to become a general strike when sympathy strikes began.Most miners had returned to work by July 25, after officials agreed to most of their demands. Die Territorialgewinne an der 1.300 Kilometer langen Grenze sind marginal, im Donbass wehrt sich die Ukraine erbittert und Russland schickt weiter Soldaten in den Krieg, die Opferzahlen sind gigantisch.Das Ende des Konflikts ist allerdings trotzdem nicht in Sicht. Doch die Ukrainer wollen sich nicht auf die Rolle der Opfer reduzieren lassen. Sie wehren sich, halten stand - und berufen sich dabei auf eine lange Tradition des Widerstands.

La défense anti-aérienne russe a abattu 660 drones ukrainiens dans la nuit de jeudi à vendredi 26 juin, a annoncé le ministère de la Défense à Moscou. Un des nombres les plus élevés depuis le début du conflit et en particulier au-dessus de la péninsule de Crimée annexée. Depuis plusieurs mois, les forces ukrainiennes ciblent la péninsule et l'isolent méthodiquement. La Crimée, pièce centrale du dispositif militaire russe, est en passe de devenir le talon d'Achille de Moscou. Grâce aux drones d'attaque Hornet de moyenne portée, lestés de charges de 5 kg et résistants aux brouillages, l'armée ukrainienne cible les dépôts de carburant, les radars, les centres de commandement, et fait peser une menace constante sur les voies d'approvisionnement russes. Peu à peu, les attaques de drones étranglent la Crimée, un territoire stratégique pour Moscou, insiste Vincent Tourret, chercheur à l'Institut français des relations internationales (Ifri) : « La Crimée, c'est le porte-avions sur la mer Noire ! C'est à la fois une base de lancement de frappes, soit par le port de Sébastopol grâce à la marine, soit par ses aérodromes contre le reste de l'Ukraine. Et c'est en fait une immense tour de guet avec énormément de sites radars et un important PC de transmissions également. Donc là, les Ukrainiens, en frappant la Crimée, fragilisent la puissance offensive que les Russes ont à leur disposition pour pousser le front. » Au mois de mai, dans le corridor reliant le Donbass à la Crimée, les Ukrainiens ont ainsi détruit 200 camions-citernes. Symbole de l'annexion de la péninsule, le pont de Kertch, véritable cordon ombilical est lui aussi régulièrement visé. Le ravitaillement des troupes devient délicat Pourtant l'État-major russe poursuit au même rythme ses offensives, avec des attaques quotidiennes par petits groupes dans la zone grise du front. Et si les pertes sont énormes, précise Vincent Tourret, le modèle russe ne change pas : « C'est un modèle à base d'infanterie qui s'infiltre progressivement, méthodiquement », des soldats qui agissent comme les pointes avancées du système de reconnaissance et frappes qu'ils ont à la disposition de l'« état-major Russe. Les ressources commencent à baisser depuis le début d'année, le recrutement russe patine, voire décroît et n'est plus capable de complètement compenser les pertes qu'ils subissent justement par leurs assauts d'infanterie. Donc il commence à y avoir un mismatch, un décalage entre les ambitions russes et leurs ressources. Ce qui va d'ailleurs poser des questions très difficiles pour Vladimir Poutine en termes de mobilisation plus générale ». L'objectif de Kiev : mettre hors de combat 50 000 soldats par mois Environ 30 000 soldats russes sont chaque mois mis hors de combat, un chiffre à peu près équivalent à celui du recrutement. Et grâce à ses drones FPV, l'état-major ukrainien dit vouloir atteindre une attrition de 50 000 soldats par mois. Pour tenter de conserver l'ascendant sur le front, note Vincent Tourret, Moscou mise sur une production toujours plus massive de drones Shahed et de missiles, « La production russe est à même aujourd'hui de soutenir une croissance de sa puissance de feu en Ukraine. Les drones Shahed sont le cas le plus exemplaire parce qu'on est passé quand même d'une centaine de Shahed produits par mois il y a deux ans, à 8 000 Shahed tirés en mai dernier. Et en fait, l'industrie russe arrive à la fois à soutenir cette expansion, à soutenir le rythme de consommation et en même temps, ils ont la capacité de constituer des réserves ». Moscou poursuit le rythme de ses attaques, mais jusqu'à quand la logistique de ses armées pourra-t-elle tenir ? Car en Crimée, les drones ukrainiens détruisent chaque jour une trentaine d'installations et une quarantaine de camions. En Ukraine, le champ de bataille est jonché des corps de soldats. Le nombre de militaires portés disparus, bien qu'inconnu, se chiffre par dizaines de milliers. Retrouver les dépouilles est un besoin essentiel pour les familles. Mais ce travail est rendu presque impossible par la prolifération des drones sur la ligne de front. C'est la mission de ces militaires ukrainiens, rencontrés par notre correspondant en Ukraine à l'aube, dans une ferme abandonnée du Donbass, à une vingtaine de kilomètres du front. De notre correspondant de retour de Sloviansk, Un à un, les sacs mortuaires sont déchargés du camion. Il faut s'y prendre à plusieurs pour hisser les corps sur une table sommaire, dressée dans une grange à l'abri des regards et des combats. Russes et Ukrainiens y sont traités avec les mêmes égards. Le travail avec les morts est un labeur silencieux. Les visages sont fermés. Ce matin, une dizaine de corps sont auscultés par Oleksiy Yukov, treillis militaire, casque sur le crâne : « Il s'agit du corps d'un soldat de la Fédération de Russie. C'est ce qu'indiquent son équipement et son matériel militaire. Malheureusement, aucun signe distinctif personnel ni document d'identité n'a été retrouvé. » Oleksiy Yukov et son équipe – une dizaine de militaires – parcourent le champ de bataille au péril de leur vie, pour en extraire les corps des soldats. Depuis quatre ans, plus de 3 000 dépouilles ont ainsi été exhumées du front ukrainien, « de nos propres mains », nous explique-t-il, certaines parfois portées à dos d'homme. Une mission devenue presque impossible aujourd'hui. « Si tu sors, tu ne reviendras pas » « L'arme la plus effrayante que j'ai vue dans cette guerre, ce sont les FPV, les drones », lâche Oleksiy Yukov. Ces engins kamikazes sont équipés d'une caméra qui permet à l'ennemi de traquer une cible à distance. Ils pullulent désormais à proximité de la ligne de front : « L'épuisement émotionnel arrive quand tu n'as pas la possibilité de récupérer les corps. Quand tu les vois, mais que tu ne peux rien faire. Tu ne peux tout simplement pas sortir de ta position pour aller les chercher et les évacuer. « L'Europe face aux menaces informationnelles »-(épisode 7) La Moldavie reste un cas d'école en matière d'ingérence électorale. De nouvelles révélations montrent l'Église orthodoxe russe à la manœuvre en amont des élections du 28 septembre dernier. L'enquête récemment publiée par Alliance4Europe, une ONG membre du « Counter Disinformation Network » épingle un cas bien documenté d'instrumentalisation de la foi religieuse à des fins politiques.  En Moldavie, un rapport de l'ONG Alliance for Europe dévoile une opération d'influence russe mêlant religion orthodoxe et politique. À la veille des législatives de septembre 2025, plus de 200 000 exemplaires d'une gazette clandestine, « Salt and Light » (« Sel et lumière »), sont diffusés, appuyés par des QR codes menant vers Telegram, Facebook et TikTok. Parallèlement, une délégation occidentale conservatrice, composée notamment d'Américains, de Britanniques et de Canadiens liés à l'univers de Donald Trump, de Steve Bannon ou du site complotiste d'ultradroite Breitbart, visite la Moldavie puis Moscou. Son message central : dénoncer une prétendue « persécution » des chrétiens orthodoxes, présentée comme la conséquence du rapprochement avec l'Union européenne. On ne manipule plus seulement des informations, on mobilise les identités. Lumi Sarvela, analyste à Alliance4Europe Le rapport montre pourtant l'absence de preuves d'une oppression systémique et décrit surtout un récit de mobilisation transformant un choix géopolitique en choix existentiel : « foi ou décadence », à l'occasion d'échéances électorales. Il souligne aussi le rôle structurant de l'Église orthodoxe russe comme vecteur de soft power du Kremlin, dans un pays où coexistent patriarcat de Moscou et patriarcat roumain.  Caractériser l'ingérence, pour mieux la détecter Cette instrumentalisation du religieux annonce-t-elle un modèle d'ingérence appelé à se répéter lors des prochaines élections en Europe ?  Le cas de la Moldavie est très révélateur parce qu'on est dans une zone grise entre conviction sincère, tension réelle et instrumentalisation politique. Et cette zone grise rend ces opérations particulièrement efficaces parce qu'elles ne reposent pas forcément sur des mensonges évidents, mais sur une relecture orientée de la réalité. Lumi Sarvela, analyste à Alliance for Europe À travers cette opération, la Russie est présentée par ces influenceurs conservateurs comme protectrice des « vraies valeurs chrétiennes » face à un Occident présenté comme décadent, ce qui résonne très fortement avec le discours MAGA, l'entourage de Donald Trump et le président américain lui-même. Le chef de délégation, Charles Bausman, est un Américain installé en Russie, connecté de longue date aux milieux russes et à l'Église orthodoxe russe, avec des tentatives de financement auprès de réseaux liés à l'oligarque Konstantin Malofeev, lui-même sous sanctions européennes pour son rôle dans le Donbass et sous sanctions américaines pour les mêmes raisons notamment. La délégation étrangère conviée en Moldavie illustre la manière dont ces sphères – MAGA (Make America Great Again), conservatisme religieux, réseaux pro‑russes – « se rencontrent et s'alimentent », parfois sans que tous les participants aient forcément conscience d'être intégrés à une opération d'influence. Une accumulation d'acteurs d'influence, petits et gros Lumi Sarvela estime qu'on ne connaît pas encore l'ampleur de cette influence religieuse en Europe, mais que le cas moldave permet d'exposer un modèle d'ingérence qui pourrait être répliqué lors d'autres scrutins. Il faut rester vigilant, nous dit-elle.  Elle évoque le cas troublant d'un de ces influenceurs accrédités au Pentagone et souligne qu'au-delà de cette opération ponctuelle, des influenceurs plus modestes s'emploient à marteler le narratif de Moscou sur la prétendue décadence occidentale. The conflict in Ukraine did not start in February 2022; it had started a long while before. The 2014 Maidan coup installed a fascist government led by the followers of WW2 Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera. This coup was actually the first blow in the yet-to-be-declared war against Russia. The coup enraged the people of Crimea and the Donbass, who refused to live in a state ruled by fascists. Crimea held a referendum in which the population overwhelmingly decided to rejoin Russia. Ever since 2014, the Ukrainian military, backed by the fascist Azov battalions, have been bombarding the Donbass republics, killing 14,000 people and terrorising the resistant population all over Ukraine on a daily basis. The conflict in Ukraine is not between Ukraine and Russia. It is a proxy war waged by the neo-nazi Nato alliance, which wants regime change in Russia in order to loot that country's vast resources. Faced with this threat to its very existence, Russia has had little choice but to resort to force, with the twin purposes of denazifying and demilitarising Ukraine. Alors qu'un nouvel acteur – les rebelles houthis du Yémen – est entré dans la guerre au Moyen-Orient, une autre guerre fait rage en Ukraine. La poursuite de ce conflit coûte cher au Kremlin. Pour combler le trou, le président russe Vladimir Poutine a demandé aux oligarques russes de contribuer au budget de l'État. Quel est le but du président russe ? L'objectif de Poutine est clair et a été exprimé lors d'une réunion à huis clos avec un groupe d'oligarques russes la semaine dernière. Information révélée par le journal russe en exil The Bell, ainsi que par le Financial Times, qui cite deux participants à cette réunion. Selon eux, Vladimir Poutine aurait déclaré que la Russie se battra jusqu'au contrôle total des zones restantes de la région du Donbass à l'est de l'Ukraine. Mais pour permettre à la Russie de poursuivre son invasion, les hommes d'affaires russes sont priés de mettre la main à la poche et de participer à l'effort de la guerre sous forme de contribution volontaire au budget de l'État. Cette sollicitation – par ailleurs formellement démentie par le Kremlin – aurait obtenu un écho favorable auprès des oligarques, notamment chez le milliardaire Suleiman Kerimov. Ce dernier se serait engagé à faire don de cent milliards de roubles, soit environ un milliard d'euros. Le magnat de l'aluminium Oleg Deripaska aurait, lui aussi, accepté de contribuer. Renflouer les caisses de l'État Les caisses de l'État russe manquent d'argent, alors que les prix du pétrole dépassent les 100 dollars le baril ? Cela semble paradoxal, mais la situation est complexe. La Russie est actuellement confrontée à la baisse des recettes budgétaires provenant des ventes d'hydrocarbures, d'une part, et au ralentissement économique, de l'autre. Un ralentissement de l'économie russe fait rentrer moins de revenus fiscaux provenant d'autres secteurs dans les caisses de l'État. Les attaques ukrainiennes de drones Certes, la flambée des prix de l'or noir déclenchée par la guerre en Iran a rapporté des milliards de dollars supplémentaires à Moscou, les États-Unis ayant assoupli les sanctions imposées aux exportations de pétrole russe début mars. Mais récemment, à la suite des attaques ukrainiennes de drones, plusieurs installations pétrolières russes ont été touchées. Résultat : au moins 40% de la capacité d'exportation de pétrole de Moscou seraient à l'arrêt, selon les estimations. C'est beaucoup, sachant que les recettes pétrolières et gazières représentent environ un quart du budget fédéral de la Russie. La Russie suspend temporairement ses exportations d'engrais Alors que les flux mondiaux d'engrais sont perturbés par la guerre au Moyen-Orient, la Russie, deuxième producteur mondial d'engrais après la Chine, reçoit en effet de plus en plus de commandes, notamment du Nigeria et du Ghana. Mais ses capacités ne sont pas extensibles et elle compte privilégier son marché intérieur. Le ministère russe de l'Agriculture a ainsi pris la décision de suspendre ses exportations de nitrate d'ammonium jusqu'au 21 avril. Le nitrate d'ammonium est justement cet ingrédient essentiel pour la fabrication d'engrais azotés. Si pour le moment, la Russie semble être la grande gagnante de la guerre en Iran – tout dépendra évidemment de la pérennité de la hausse des prix du brut –, Vladimir Poutine a mis en garde le ministère des Finances et le monde des affaires russes, leur conseillant de ne pas compter sur cette manne financière durablement. President Trump sees it as the best way to end the bloodshed, but the plans have also concerned European leaders.
