We will continue with the verse Gen. 2:3. The Hebrew - not the English - suggests that God stopped creating works that were still yet to be done! Huh? Works yet to be done? Works created but had not even started or were completed? Works for the future? This is too awesome since this implies that we, made in His image, are to go and work just like Him. Hmmm, does the Bible teach that? It suggests right from the "get go" we were created for a purpose. But, did God specify it in His Word and not imply or suggest? It seems clear also that this implies Jesus as well. He said that He is doing the works given to Him by the Father. He tells those listening to Him then in John 5 that He will even do greater works than what they just saw (He had just healed a man lame for 39 years). On top of that Jesus tells us on the night before He died in John 14 that if we are His true talmideem - His true disciples - that the works the Father gave Him Jesus gives to us and we also will even do "greater works." It is as if Gen. 2:3 is God's first prediction of the good news coming in the future. Now the verse Eph. 2:8-10 makes sense. Yes! We are saved by grace but at the same time we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus (that means we the ones called by His name, we are the ones who state that Jesus is our Lord, our Savior, God, we are His true disciples) for GOOD WORKS created BEFORE HAND!! This is an amazing connection of Eph. 2:8-10 to the Torah. But, why should it surprise us. When Paul wrote the letter to Ephesus the only Bible they had was the Hebrew Scriptures, the Old Testament. This lesson will also address the Documentary Hypothesis - a theory that states that Moses never wrote the Torah. We will study this anti-Bible theory and show that it is false. It comes against Jesus' own words when Jesus states clearly many times that the Torah is of Moses or the Torah are the "books of Moses." God does something so very interesting. First, God is out side of time. Time only is created when we have the sun and the moon. So, there is no time before the creation. And in Genesis 2:1-3 we see that God makes time kadosh קָדוֹשׁ - which is translated as holy. From the Gesenius Hebrew Lexicon we find that kadosh means to be set apart, to be set aside, to separate as special, to be distinct. Time is the first thing that God makes kadosh or set apart. Pagans make statues holy. Pagans make trees or animals holy. Pagans make buildings holy. Yet, the one God, the only God, He makes time uniquely special. One day per week there is a 24 hour period that we enter into that is special and unique. Why? More than that we read in English that God rested. Rested? God needs a nap? God needs to kick back and "take a load off?" Huh?? Did God rest in the 7th day? Later in Exodus does He also command us to rest on the 7th day, to lay back, to take a nap? The answer is NO!! Lesson 9 Part 1 Do you do the Sabbath? It is one of the Ten Commandments, so you'd better. But, do you do it on Sunday? Or, do you do it on Saturday where some might say it is the "Jewish" Sabbath? Who is right? In this video we will not debate whether the Sabbath is Sunday or Saturday. This debate has been going on for 1000's of years and I don't think I can end the debate with a short 30 minute or 60 minute video. However, what is the Sabbath? What do you think the Sabbath is? Is it simply when you go to church? Oh no, you say, it is about church and resting, right? God said we are to rest. So why do it on Saturday or even Sunday? "Why can't I have a day of rest when I want?," some might say. But, what if He never said to rest? What if He meant something else? What's the 7th day have to do about it? Is that all it's about - going to church and, perhaps, taking a nap? Or is there something bigger that God is having us understand and practice? I suggest to you that the Sabbath - שָׁבַת Shabbat in Hebrew - is much much bigger. Both groups, ones who practice שָׁבַת Shabbat on Saturday and those who practice שָׁבַת Shabbat on Sunday, are not being taught what this feast of the Lord actually is. This is my experience after growing up in Sunday churches and later attending Messianic congregations. No one is teaching the awesomeness of this feast, this "appointed time" of יהוה Yahvay, the Lord. Yes, it is a feast of the Lord by the very words of God. Don't believe me, you can read it for your self in Lev. 23:1-3 and you'll notice that the Sabbath is 1st in the list. There are 8 festivals of the Lord - they are not Jewish feasts. They belong to the Lord. So, come. Join us. Study what you've been missing. Come and let the Lord help us understand the awesome of His שָׁבַת Shabbat so that He can enhance our walk of faith with המשיח ישוע, HaMaschiach Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah, Jesus the Christ. According to Revelation 12:17 and 14:12, the end-time saints or holy ones will keep God's commandments and hold to faith in Yeshua. Many in the Torah movement think that because they keep the seventh-day Sabbath/Shabbat, remember the appointed times of Leviticus 23, and eat a kosher-style of diet—that the Lord will give them special protection in the Last Days.

Anyone, who surveys the spectrum of today’s broad Messianic movement, should be able to acknowledge that something very unique and special is going on, and that God is truly moving! Four to five decades ago in the late 1960s, the contemporary Messianic Jewish movement formally began, some thinking that its arrival on the scene was connected to the retaking of the Old City of Jerusalem by Israel in 1967. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, many Messianic Jewish congregations and fellowships began being planted in North America and across the world, as places where Jewish Believers could believe in Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah, and still maintain a high level of being Jewish—keeping the seventh-day Sabbath/Shabbat, the appointed times, kosher, and having a generally traditional Synagogue experience, hopefully still feeling connected to other Jews.

We are taking a fresh look at the Sabbath or Shabbat. Podcast for Pewsitters and Biblestudycompany.com are giving a shout out to the TV series, The Chosen, by Dallas Jenkins. In the series, Dallas portrayed a Shabbat dinner in several instances. One was a woman of an ancient tent-dwelling group of people preparing for a Shabbat meal, which was touching. A boy was asking his mother, the purpose of Shabbat. She explains the fellowship aspect and the advantage of gathering family and friends. As a husband and father, I personally love the "call to Shabbat" by honoring the wife by declaring: "A woman of valor, who can find? Far beyond pearls is her value. Her husband's heart trusts in her, and he shall lack no fortune". (Proverbs 31) WOW!Let's shift back to bible study of the Shabbat. Is the Shabbat just an old testament custom or "law" that is only for the Jewish people? Or are Christians to avoid old testament laws and traditions because we are under a "new covenant" and are not under old testament law? Or, as Christians, do we have a wrong view of the "law" and the Bible altogether? What if we took a new perspective that the "whole counsel of God " (Acts 20:27)----the whole Bible is to teach us about the plans and purposes of God? What if the Shabbat has lessons to teach us about the character of God and even our lack of dependence on God? Read Isaiah 58:13-14. Is it possible to put aside your will for one day? We need God's power in our life. Fortunately, His grace comes to us when we submit to His word.Shall we honor the Shabbat? By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. POINT: If God chose rest, we should too. Rest, Read, Relax & Edify in The Most High. EXODUS 20: 8 - 11 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Following the traditions of men is a path that leads to death - an act of treason against the King. Following the Word of God is the path that leads to life - an act of submission to the King. Recorded at the Prayer & Training Center, Fort Worth, on the last great day of the feast of Sukkot (the 8th day), Derek and Rivkah share the link between the Sabbath and the Living Water. In John 7:37-38, Messiah said that out of your inner most being will flow rivers of living water. It is this same living water that flows from underneath the throne in Revelation 22:1 and Ezekiel 47:1-12 and brings life and peace wherever it flows. It is a joy and privilege to keep the Sabbath holy, on the 7th day of the week, when the King of Kings longs to speak to His precious bride. But is she too busy to spend time with Him, speaking her own words and doing her own things - Isaiah 58:13-14?) The Sabbath (Shabbat) is time to replenish, and a time to recognize that it is one of the most important of the 10 Commandments. We show our Savior how much He is loved by our obedience to keep that day holy. This week I sit down with Renalee Colon to hear her miraculous testimony concerning the Sabbath (Shabbat in Hebrew). The word Shabbat comes from the idea of ceasing and is used as a verb in the scriptures as well as a noun. The Sabbath was created on the seventh day by God ceasing from His work. It's a day that He blessed and set apart as a day of rest for His creation and especially for man.
