Why Does God Allow Suffering? So often, we ask 'If God is good, why does God allow suffering?' The truth is, God doesn't. God gave humans free will, and suffering results from humanity's collective choices and actions. But in the middle of all this pain and suffering, we are not alone. God sent Jesus to live and die, therefore he can relate to our pain. This means our suffering is not in vain. This means that Jesus is present with us, in our pain. And this means we have hope.
