Our protagonist has been learning of some terrible events that, if town drunkard Zadok Allen is to be believed, explain some of the strange goings-on at Innsmouth. Fantastical tales of creatures from the deep, interbreeding with humans, sacrifices to the Old Ones... could any of it be true?  Our hero knows he needs to get out of Innsmouth, but will the residents let him?If you'd like to support The Well Told Tale, please visit us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thewelltoldtaleBooks - (buying books from our Bookshop.org shop helps support this channel while also supporting local bookshops, at no cost to you):Books by our favourite authors - https://uk.bookshop.org/lists/the-well-told-taleLovecraftian Horror AnthologiesShadows Over Innsmouth - https://uk.bookshop.org/a/9522/9781781165287Weird Shadows Over Innsmouth - https://uk.bookshop.org/a/9522/9781781165294Weirder Shadows Over Innsmouth - https://uk.bookshop.org/a/9522/9781783291311Lovecraft's TalesThe Complete Cthulhu Mythos Tales - https://uk.bookshop.org/a/9522/9781435162556The Complete Fiction of H. This week, we start a new Tale from one of our favourite writers, H. P. Lovecraft. 'The Shadow Over Innsmouth' was the only novella published in Lovecraft's lifetime, and although it forms a central part of his Cthulhu Mythos, Lovecraft didn't actually like it when it was finished, and it was only published after his friend August Derleth got involved.  The original run of books was a mere 200 bound copies, and have become a sought-after rarity in collector's circles. If you'd like to support The Well Told Tale, please visit us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thewelltoldtaleBooks - (buying books from our Bookshop.org shop helps support this channel while also supporting local bookshops, at no cost to you):Books by our favourite authors - https://uk.bookshop.org/lists/the-well-told-taleLovecraftian Horror AnthologiesShadows Over Innsmouth - https://uk.bookshop.org/a/9522/9781781165287Weird Shadows Over Innsmouth - https://uk.bookshop.org/a/9522/9781781165294Weirder Shadows Over Innsmouth - https://uk.bookshop.org/a/9522/9781783291311Lovecraft's TalesThe Complete Cthulhu Mythos Tales - https://uk.bookshop.org/a/9522/9781435162556The Complete Fiction of H. Bad acting. Bad scripts. INCREDIBLE effects. The Cadaver Dogs take a schlock-tastic voyage during their analysis of two international cult classics. What makes these movies so bad they're good? Or, so bad they're… well, bad?  By stripping down to the bare bones of Stuart Gordan's DAGON (2001) and Umberto Lenzi's NIGHTMARE CITY (1980), you see the necessities of a horror film. The Dogs analyze the creature design, film direction (what an odd approach to dubbing), and fear tactics that have made these films “guilty pleasures” for horror fans. During their dive into Dagon, an adaptation of The Shadow Over Innsmouth by H.P. Lovecraft, they talk xenophobia and fear of the other. While Nightmare City makes them question the boundaries of exploitation films and if action horror should be a considerable genre. . Up Next: THE INVITATION (2015)  / THE SACRAMENT (2013) . Campfire Classics Collection Volume 3: Pickman's ModelIn the third installment of the Campfire Classics Collection, in honor of the Halloween season, today we're reading “Pickman's Model” (1927) by H.P. Lovecraft. In this terrifying tale of one man's struggle to find the uppermost reaches of horror, we explore themes of passion, moderation, and exclusion. This true master of horror uses the story to extrapolate on his theories regarding the anatomy of suspense; the psychology of fear in a way that has inspired novice authors for nearly a century.
