A year on from the Farage Riots and what have we learned? The basic truth is that rioting does nothing. It doesn't exhibit patriotism. It doesn't convince people that a movement based on hate will do anything other than eventually dissipate. It has shown that a vast number of the people on the streets talking about safety to women and children had themselves been either accused of or in many cases even found guilty of violent conduct and/or sexual assault.So the people who Farage and fellows have been appealing to contain thugs, criminals and in the very least hypocrites.  If we hear the New Age Movement Music, we comprehend that the New Age wants Harmony and doesn't like Disharmony.The great music, like the Indian Raga or the Western Classical need the disharmonies to enhance the harmonies. And so should be our life!We can't appreciate the harmony if we don't experience the disharmony.In the New Age, we wanted to become soft and sensible,- so that we are open to the divine. We could not understand that our worst times were shaping our life to become soft and sensible!The Tao says we should be strong like a tree cutter and sensible like a baby. If we make for instance Qigong for our heart, without training our heart to become strong,- the heart Qigong is worthless. Remember, the Kung Fu has developed the Qigong. The fighters want to become sensitive to direct their energy to become strong. When they do so, nobody can hurt them anymore. And for that is Qigong.We need to make exhausting sport combined with exercises like Qigong or Yoga. Otherwise, we will never gain our full potential or health. The New Age is dam wrong because it rejects the Yang or aggression. Aggression is necessary to get the things done. Anger is positive if we use it for our benefit. Nothing is wrong only misplaced. For instance, Bruce Lee died with 32 as a famous Kung Fu fighter because he had skipped the Qigong. Grandmaster Lu Zijian as one of the best Kung Fu Fighter was teaching his Qigong until he passed by with 118 years. Why isn't everyone allergic to the same things? Why doesn't everyone have the same sense of humour? Why does the same chemical compound cause different downstream physiological effects? All these situations above are related to the concept of 'receptor dependence'. The same stimulus can cause different reactions in different 'receptors', be they transmembrane proteins in the stomach or 'triggers' for sensitive persons with differing levels of 'tolerance' for 'bad jokes'. In naturopathic medicine, we often put greater emphasis on the FOOD while putting less skilful or comprehensive emphasis on the condition of the RECEIVER (cells, receptors, tissues -- the 'tolerance' of the person in terms of the digestive system or neuro-immune reactivity etc.). This is partly because very few people (clinicians) can skilfully assess the abdominal structures and therefore, we don't have a well-known and reliable way to assess the MACRO structures of the abdomen, although we have some fairly well-known concepts (i.e. leaky gut) that inform us of the MICRO structures of the gut.The impact of this disproportional 'blame' on the food rather than the system leads to an emphasis on restrictive and often unsustainable diet plans.Sometimes the food is more of the problem (e.g. gluten in celiac disease); sometimes the system is more to blame (e.g. leaky gut or sphincter of Oddi dysfunction) ... but it is always the interaction of the two that is the problem.The information presented on this podcast is for educational purposes only and is not intended to diagnose or prescribe for any medical or psychological condition, nor prevent, treat, mitigate, or cure any conditions. In this episode, I discuss the details of a new book I have been reading by Terrance Real, called "US." It was a great follow up to my previous episode with my wife Sonia as we shared secrets to our successful 25 year marriage. In Real's Book he identifies a rhythm in relationship - Harmony, Disharmony, and Repair. This rhythm is cyclical and we move through it multiple times within the term of our relationships. An important realization for many in relationships is that their will be disharmony and that does not equal a bad relationship it simply just is what it is. We all have it in our relationships, but the key is how we repair the disharmony. There can be a number of benefits we gain from repair in building a stronger relationship.
