Noah Hawley has written books, movies, and TV shows like Alien Earth and Fargo. He's been successful not just because he's a talented writer, but also because he's a consummate professional. He's fluent not just in the world of stories and characters, but he also knows how to work inside the industry and how to get things done. If you want to make it as a writer, whether on the page or the big screen, this interview is a roadmap for doing that. About the host Hey! I'm David Perell and I'm a writer, teacher, and podcaster. Zo is daar iets wat wij even gekscherend PlayStation DRM-gate noemen.
On this episode of Geek Freaks Headlines, we break down Noah Hawley's latest comments about the upcoming Far Cry TV series and why the show will not directly adapt one specific game. Instead of retelling Far Cry 3, Far Cry 5, or another fan-favorite entry, Hawley appears to be building a new story around the core identity of the franchise: ordinary people pushed into violent, extreme situations under the influence of a charismatic and dangerous leader. The discussion also touches on Rob Mac's involvement, how the series could use the franchise's rebel-versus-oppressor formula, and why setting, tone, and casting will matter just as much as the villain. We also briefly look at Hawley's other major projects, including Alien: Earth, and what fans may want to hear next from the Far Cry production.00:00 Far Cry TV Series Will Not Directly Adapt the Games00:18 What Makes a Far Cry Story Work00:38 Rob Mac's Role and the Rebel Formula00:51 Noah Hawley's Schedule and Fargo Questions01:03 Alien: Earth Production Update01:20 What Fans Need to Hear Next About Far CryNoah Hawley's Far Cry series is expected to follow the spirit of the games rather than directly adapt one specific title. The show's focus seems to be on civilized people being pushed into brutal, dangerous situations.A major part of the Far Cry identity is a charismatic leader creating a cult-like or oppressive environment.Rob Mac is already attached to the project, raising questions about whether he could play a rebel-style character or someone caught inside the chaos. The biggest unanswered questions are the full cast, directors, episode count, and setting.Hawley is also balancing Alien: Earth, which is expected to begin a larger production this summer.“One of the common threads in all the Far Cry games is an extremely charismatic leader.”“He wants to tell a story about ordinary or civilized people being pushed into extreme situations.”“I was hoping they were going to do number five, but he wants to keep it fresh.”“You have charismatic leaders, but also very distinct locations.”“The next thing I want to hear out of the Far Cry series is additional cast.”For more geek culture news, quick updates, and deeper conversations on the stories shaping movies, TV, gaming, and fandom, subscribe to Geek Freaks Headlines. This episode we review the entire debut season of Noah Hawley's ALIEN: EARTH series; the good, the bad, the amazing, the baffling, the stuff that provokes reasonable comparisons to bullshit in Jurassic World that we wish didn't exist, all of it! "You used to be food, you know. Humanity. Your lives were short and filled with fear. Then your brains grew. You built tools and used them to conquer nature... But in the animal kingdom, there is always someone bigger, or smaller, who would eat you alive...", it's The Who Goes There Podcast Episode 446!!!Join our Patreon to support the show! Noah Hawley’s TV take on the Alien franchise, “Alien: Earth,” is crashing into a building near us, bringing gross aliens old and new, suspicious synths, terrified (and bloody) humans, and a new class of hybrid life forms with the minds of children and superhuman bodies. Does the show give us enough Xenomorphs? Is the eye alien a breakout fan favorite? Was replaying “Alien” on a different ship a good idea? Why is Trillionaire Island so understaffed? We break it all down. Jason Snell with John Siracusa, Brian Warren, Annette Wierstra and Sandra Wong.

We kick things off with evidence that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is heading to PC far sooner than expected. A new ESRB rating has surfaced for the PC version—listing Sony Interactive Entertainment as the publisher—strongly suggesting a rapid turnaround similar to the first game's sub-one-year PC launch. With Kojima Productions expanding the franchise into animated films, A24 partnerships, and Disney+ series, the Death Stranding universe is entering its biggest era yet. Next, a 10-minute leak of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has spilled online, showing early gameplay, mocap sessions, Farah's redesigned character concepts, and confirmation of two new locations built from the ground up. Ubisoft has been issuing copyright strikes, validating the footage's authenticity. Quality looks early-alpha, but it's the clearest look yet at the long-delayed remake's evolution. We then turn to huge internal rumblings at Bungie: credible leaks point to Destiny 3 being in extremely early development, reportedly positioned as a major tentpole release for the PS6 generation. This comes as Destiny 2 struggles with engagement, follows a $200 million write-down from Sony, and Marathon continues through testing before launch. With Destiny fatigue setting in, Bungie is under immense pressure to deliver a franchise reset. FLASH NEWS breaks down the rapid-fire updates you need to know: • Cyberpunk 2077 hits a massive 35 million units sold • A Far Cry TV series is officially in the works with Noah Hawley attached • PlayStation Plus December lineup revealed: LEGO Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, and Synduality Echo of Ada If you're here for PlayStation insights, industry leaks, and deep-dive coverage of the biggest stories in gaming, this episode has everything.
Happy Thanksgiving week! Just a few major stories to break down this week. FarCry is headed to television on FX with Rob Mac staring, which is the right type of chaos that show needs. Wicked went off to see the wizard with a big box office take, and it might not be, for good. Plus Rush Hour 4 is happening, and the reason why is pretty unusual. That and more on this weeks episode.

This week on Fantastic Forum, we are diving headfirst into the uncanny with two Alien tales that take the franchise to thrilling new frontiers! First we explore Alien: Earth, FX's chilling reboot of a sci-fi horror classic. Created and showrun by Noah Hawley, this prequel series drops us into the dangerous year 2120, two years before the original Alien, and follows Wendy, a synthetic hybrid, as she confronts corporate conspiracies and Xenomorphic threats on Earth. The stakes are high for the Alien franchise as it makes its television debut. Then we jet to the other side of the galaxy with Alien: Paradiso, the five-issue limited comic series by Steve Foxe, Edgar Salazar, and Peter Nguyen. This time we are at a neon-soaked luxury resort in space where tropical paradise quickly turns into a nightmare. When Colonial Marshals crash the party, they find smugglers, android staff, and soon a bloodthirsty Xenomorph in their midst. Each issue even gives us the alien's point of view through Nguyen's surreal pages. It is privilege, chance, and carnage in full technicolor. Neverland. The Xenomorph is back and Noah Hawley has some child super soldiers waiting for them. The year is 2120, two years before Ripley's badass adventure in space. On Earth, Wendy and the Lost Boys are facing a threat never before seen. Jim and A.Ron already see the strong Noah Hawley influences in this installment of the Alien franchise. So far, the alien:horror ratio has been fun. And already there are so many dead parents, it might as well be a Disney movie. Send your feedback to alien@baldmove.com. Welcome back to A Storm of Spoilers! With their coverage of Andor complete, Da7e and Neil turn their attention to another iconic sci-fi franchise as they await the arrival of Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth. In this season one preview episode, they discuss what they know so far about the show's plot before unpacking what they learned from its well-moderated San Diego Comic-Con panel. They then consider some of the big questions they'd like to see answered about Xenomorphs, synthetic humanoids, space-faring cats, and much more in The Calm [04:58] before diving into some light spoiler territory in The Storm [42:12]. Next week, Alien: Earth kicks off with a two-episode season premiere on Tuesday, August 12th, on FX and Hulu. New pods will drop on Wednesday afternoons!
