GET YOUR MULTIVERSE NEWS MERCH HERE:https://multiverse-news-shop.fourthwall.com/Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesDuring a recent appearance on Carmelo Antony's 7 PM in Brooklyn Podcast, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler reignited speculation that Denzel Washington is set to play a pivotal role in the third film of his socially thoughtful superhero franchise. When questioned about Washington's prior claims that Coogler was developing the film with a role intended for him specifically, the director confirmed them, saying, “there's no fiction out there about that”. In unrelated, but still Marvel news, tickets for The Fantastic Four: First Steps went on sale last week, crashing several major theaters online ticketing services and accompanied by a new trailer that appears to show us our first look at Franklin Richards. On the TV side of things, per Deadline sources, Schitt's Creek actor Emily Hampshire has joined the cast of the upcoming Vision Disney Plus series as E.D.I.T.H., the artificial intelligence that appeared in Spider-Man: Far From Home. And finally, a second trailer for Ironheart was released on Monday.Late last week, Superman director and DC Studios co-head, James Gunn took to social media, as he is want to do, to announce and celebrate the completion of the film's final visual effects shot, with which he claimed the film to be 100% done ahead of its July 11 release. In the wake of that announcement Gunn took the opportunity to address fan questions surrounding the film's runtime, which he confirmed to be 2 hours and 9 minutes including credits and post credit scenes, while also kiboshing any speculation that Warner Bros had forced a shorter, mandated runtime, saying there was zero truth to it and that Warner Bros could not have interfered even if they wanted to, as it's a DC Studios film. All of this is compounded by rumors that DC Studios will not be focusing on any of their films at SDCC and Gunn's cagey Entertainment Weekly interview from earlier today where he claimed the DCU's Wonder Woman film is being written as we speak.Time for another good old fashioned trailer park, featuring the highly anticipated follow-up to last year's breakout hit, Wicked: For Good, whose first trailer garnered 113 million views in its first 24 hours – and our first full length trailer for Noah Hawley's upcoming FX series, Alien: Earth, which also announced the series for an August 12 premiereMarvel Animation premiered the first episode of the Disney Plus series Eyes of Wakanda during a panel at the Annecy Animation Festival in France, Monday morning. Although casting details are scarce at the moment, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that she will be playing a villain. HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series has announced nine actors playing key roles for its first season tackling Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The added cast includes Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. It wasn't quite the box office battle Hollywood wanted it to be this weekend with Wicked and Gladiator II going toe to toe in movie theaters. The musical movie adaptation soared with a nearly $114 million domestic opening, making it the biggest premiere ever for a Broadway movie adaptation. Into the Woods previously held that title, opening to just $31 million in 2014. Internationally, Wicked raked in an additional $50.2 million giving it a total opening of $164 million. While Gladiator II limped behind the musical phenomenon domestically, opening to $55.5 million, it succeeded in the international market to the tune of $165.5 million and overtook Wicked's worldwide box office significantly due to opening one week earlier internationally. The Blonde Bond himself, Daniel Craig, is a potential star for the feature film Sgt. Rock, which is in early development with DC Studios. While nothing is known about the plot, the character first appeared in comics in 1959 as a World War II soldier and was created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert. Challengers director Luca Guadagnino is set to direct and his screenwriting collaborator on both Challengers and upcoming film Queer, Justin Kurtizkes, will pen the script. In a deleted scene from Season 2 of Loki — part of an impending 4K UHD Blu-ray release — Loki recalls just how many people said Loki was a problem while talking with his friend Mobius over slices of key lime pie. After listing many names, Loki also brings up two villains from Marvel comics that audiences have not yet encountered in the MCU. The first is Amora, also known as Enchantress and the second is Absorbing Man, who began life as a boxer named Carl Creel, a character seen in Agents of Shield, — until Loki poisons him with an elixir that gives him the ability to transform his body into the quality of anything he touches. At the very end, Loki also brings up Hercules, who appeared in a post credits scene of Thor: Love and Thunder. Disney and Lucasfilm have revealed that animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions is coming back for a third volume in 2025. A new teaser has been released for Noah Hawley's upcoming Alien franchise series titled Alien: Earth that confirms the series will arrive in the summer of 2025 on FX and Hulu. Deadline has confirmed that Suits spinoff series Suits: LA will feature the return of Gabriel Macht who played Harvey Specter on the original series in a limited reprisal of his role that is being described as a three episode arc. Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron have both joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's upcoming untitled film. They join Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Matt Damon. Banijay Rights, the distributor for Netflix anthology series Black Mirror, has struck a deal with Neil Gibson's UK-based Twisted Comics to create comics based on several of the episodes of the series. Developer CD Projekt announced The Witcher 4 video game is now in full-scale production. Isabel May, best known for her role in Yellowstone prequel series 1883 and 1923, has joined the cast of Scream 7 and will play Neve Campbell's daughter. Samuel L. Jackson is in negotiations for a key role in J.J. Abrams' untitled feature at Warner Bros. He joins Jenna Ortega, Glen Powell, and Emma Mackey. In an interview about his upcoming voice role of Doctor Phosphorus in Creature Commandos, Alan Tudyk confirmed that he will also voice Clayface in the series. Tudyk also voices Clayface on Harley Quinn: The Animated Series and its spin-off Kite-Man: Hell Yeah!, but this version will be a new iteration of the character.

Noah Hawley, creator of the TV series Fargo, joins Overheard to discuss his career in entertainment from novels to movies, and his creative approach to adapting films into series.
We welcome onto today's show Bella Gonzales, an accomplished director of photography whose remarkable work spans across several prestigious series. Bella is known for her exceptional contributions to episodic series such as FX's Fargo, Apple TV+'s The Big Door Prize, and Hulu's PEN15. Her unique vision and technical prowess have made her a standout talent in the industry, and her recent projects are a testament to her skill and creativity. On the show, Giles Alderson and Dom Lenoir chat with Bella about: What lenses she uses, camera angles and working with different directors. She talks about what light means to story and why should pick your battles in prep and on set. We also dive into blocking, floor plans and not coming from a world of 'no'. We talk Alien, the new TV show she has just finished working on and what is like being part of history and we dive deep into the making of Fargo. For the new Apple TV+ series, Me, Bella was the sole director of photography for the pilot and all 10 episodes of this series, working closely with director Michael Dowse. Her role allowed her to set the show's visual tone, treating it with the care and precision of a feature film. For Fargo Bella also previously worked on season 5 of Fargo, where she built on her previous contributions to the series and her work and relationship with showrunner, Noah Hawley. She lensed episodes 3&4 of the new series which is out now on Apple TV+ and stars Juno Temple and Jon Hamm. The Netflix series “Baby Reindeer” written by Scottish comedian Richard Gadd based on the true story of a period in his life when he was stalked by a woman whom he gave a free cup of tea while working as a bartender in London, has been burning itself into the eyeballs and psyches of millions of people. Lisa was fascinated by the hit show's unflinching honesty, style, structure and incredible performances by both Gadd and Jessica Gunning. Joining Lisa and Dean to break it all down is another incredible actor, David Rysdahl. You may remember David from this season's “Fargo”, playing sweet “Wayne” the husband of Juno Temple's “Dot”. His other credits include “Oppenheimer”, “Black Mirror” and he is currently shooting Noah Hawley's new “Alien” series in Bangkok. David shares his reaction to “Baby Reindeer” and the aspects of Gadd's character “Donny Dunn” that he identifies with. David performed for years in New York as a clown and was part of the “alt” comedy scene. We talk about Hollywood predators, the insecurities of fame…and so much more. Join us for the conversation. Daredevil is not the only Netflix series confirmed now as MCU canon - the entire Defenders saga can be seen within the MCU Timeline on Disney+. This is a big deal for fans of the Netflix shows who have called for them to be canonized for years. The Defenders shows fit into the timeline starting with Daredevil after I Am Groot and ending with The Punisher before Doctor Strange. There's also a rumor Deborah Ann Wolf and Elden Hansen are set to return as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born Again. Trekkies will soon see their favorite franchise back on the big screen with director Toby Haynes on the bridge in the captain's chair. Haynes recently directed several episodes of the Star Wars hit show Andor. With Seth Grahame-Smith writing and JJ Abrams' Bad Robot producing, it has been 8 years since the last Star Trek movie - though this one is to take place decades before the 2009 Star Trek movie plot. Paramount has had recent Star Trek success in the television world, streaming Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks, Picard, and Discovery. Though this prequel may not show the Chris Pine-led cast we are used to seeing, there are still plans to have a final movie with that crew in the future. We keep talking about Tom Cruise and now for an even bigger announcement…a Top Gun 3 movie is officially in development to bring back that loving feeling. Top Gun: Maverick writer Ethan Kruger is already writing for the new installment and sources report director Joe Kosinski will also be back to pilot the film. This news comes to us shortly after the partnership announced with Cruise and Warner Bros. Discovery. Top Gun: Maverick raked in an astounding $1.5 billion in 2022 and Cruise looks like he's willing to continue the legacy with a third film. Rumors are flying that DC Studios will begin their search for a Supergirl actress soon. In the mix for frontrunners we have Milly Aycock of house of the dragon, Emilia Jones from Coda and Locke and Key, and Meg Donnelly of the Zombies franchise and DC Animation where she plays supergirl. James Gunn and Peter Safran announced the Supergirl, Woman of Tomorrow movie in 2022 based on the comics by Tom King. Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, the director and writer of the 2002 zombie horror film 28 Days Later, are reuniting for 28 Years Later, a sequel to the original. The pair are hoping to launch a trilogy of films set in the universe. Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss opened up for the first time about their canceled Star Wars movie in the cover story for last week's Hollywood Reporter, stating that the concept for their film dealt with the rise of the first Jedi and how the Jedi Order came to be. The Last of Us Season 2 has cast Beef star Young Mazino as Jesse. The series is expected to start production soon. Isabela Merced has also been cast as Dina. Barbie and Shang-Chi star Simu Liu will host the 2024 People's Choice Awards which will air live on NBC, E!, and Peacock on February 18. Director David Gordon Green, who was initially set to direct a sequel to last year's Exorcist: Believer titled Exorcist: Deceiver, has exited the project. Universal originally planned for the film to hit theaters on April 18, 2025, but the timetable is now unclear as the studio searches for a new director. Noah Hawley, the showrunner of the upcoming FX series "Alien," revealed in an interview that the series is set on Earth approximately 70 years in the future, preceding the events of the original film series. Despite discussions with Ridley Scott, Hawley explained that he won't incorporate the backstory from "Prometheus" and "Alien: Covenant" into his series, expressing a preference for the original films' retro-futuristic technology over the more advanced tech featured in the prequels.
Kim Masters and Matt Belloni take stock of layoffs at Amazon as a result of consolidation and reorganizing across its studios. Eric Deggans speaks to Fargo creator Noah Hawley about the fifth season of his anthology series. The writer and director talks about the challenges of writing 51 hours of television based on the Coen Brothers film of the same name. He also teases his upcoming FX series based on Ridley Scott's Alien franchise.
This week on The Treatment, Elvis sits down with storyteller Noah Hawley, whose series Fargo is now in its fifth installment on FX and Hulu. Then, we re-visit Elvis' conversation with Bottoms director Emma Seligman. And on The Treat, Priscilla director Sofia Coppola talks about the book that inspired her latest film.
