When the gearheads get enthusiastic, the geeks get going: the new-car connectivity albatross and its threat to AM (as well as your seat heaters), why new cars and their general state of suck is making a mess of the used-car market, and some F!ed up fun from Kalifornistan, where the police can't chase you and the earth is swallowing up off-roaders Then it's turbos, bugeye WRXs, EVCs, own-versus-rent and right-to-repair, and a breakdown of the better James Bonds (and why Remington Steele's/Pierce Brosnahanan's “November Man” could have been perfect). More for you: DJ Contact (w/ DJ Cookie Dough), Amon Tobin (with a mashup), Air (#becauseweird), and Source Direct (#becausetractor). Also, Umberto from GRC, The Uhhs, jerkles and unicorn skulls.

Our first podcast of 2021 comes from Mako, a staple of the Metalheadz camp and an artist that has released both a solo album and a collab album (as OneMind) on the label in recent years. For this edition the Bristol-based producer and DJ has dug deep into his crates to deliver a Certificate 18 special, a groundbreaking label founded by Paul Arnold in 1993 that went on to nurture the talents of early pioneering figures such as Photek, Source Direct, Teebee, Klute and more. In Goldie's own words "Certificate 18 isn't really a label, in the same way that Ibiza Records isn't a label, in the same way that Kikman Records isn't a label. It's the very foundation. It's a certain parallax with those labels that sometimes when we're in the dark we need to shine a brighter light on those that have paved the way."
Featuring music from David Morales, Shabba Ranks, Masters At Works, Colonel Abrams, Sunship, Source Direct, Evelyn 'Champagne' King', Level 42, Cerrone, Joey Negro... Second-hand vinyl bargain bin selections < £3 with @Ben Gomori, with this month's show focused around a haul from Vinyl Vanguard in St. James Street, London. www.sohoradiolondon.com
The author of 'Grief is the Thing with Feathers' and 'Lanny', Max Porter, walks with Geoff through a woodland near Bath, talks about playing the clarinet (cue Gerald Finzi's Clarinet Concerto), listening for birds, June Tabor, the relationship between humans and cities in the wake of lockdown and the power of Source Direct's jungle breaks that soundtracked his youth.— In the Wilderness Tracks, writers, artists, scientists and thinkers talk with producer Geoff Bird about six pieces of music that somehow connect them to nature.

Rashers Tierney takes up the reins for a solo run on this month's edition of Holler. Beardy is off with an eye injury. He listened to a bassline so nasty his face literally exploded. We have the photos and doctors note to proof it, but GDPR and child protection issues mean we are prevented. Expect two hours of dark dubby freakouts, blasts of ravey breaks, nu-skool 2step and dark side DNB. Tune in for wanders through tunes from Source Direct, Meat Beat Manifesto, DJ Sega, UVB-76, Jon E Cash, Ticklish, Fracture, Pessimist, Nakara, Primitive Art, O.B.F and rakes more. Good for getting lost in Ikea too. Apparently!
Dick Fetti and Ben the Beardo welcome you to their new mini-show, "The Bearded Dick's Musical Fun Time" aka BDMFT. In an effort to make Motel Hell episodes a little bit shorter, Dick and Ben will be cracking open the Disco Box and reviewing various media here on BDMFT, instead of on the main show. This week Dick Fetti reviews two records by current drum & bass wunderkid Jason Luxton aka Overlook and the classic album "Exorcise the Demons" by Source Direct. After which, Ben the Beardo reviews the awesome new Spider-Man game. Disco Box Recommendations: Overlook - Smoke Signals 3xLP - UVB-76 2017 Overlook - All Of Them Witches 12" - UVB-76 2018 Source Direct - Exorcise The Demons CD - Science / Virgin 1999
July typically is the month in which shit starts to get steamy in New England. The same holds true for Techno Delivery Systems Radio! Super amped to have on the show this month..... ***Featured Set*** 11pm Undrig (John Vincent) SUB FM & Resonant Sound Undrig (John Vincent) originally got his start playing drums at the age of 5. Looking to expand outside the context of playing in bands eventually led to forays into both production and djing in 1999. Originally producing experimental electronic music, during which he did remix work for industrial pioneer, Claus Larsen of Leæther Strip, Frank Heiss and has collaborated with Submerged and Incyde. Heavily influenced by the early sounds of artists like Skinny Puppy, Source Direct, Squarepusher, and Future Sound of London, his style has been primarily focused on the unstable space between seductive, groove focused, bass driven subtleties and evocative, experimental vibes. After moving back to New England from the west coast, he joined ranks with Digital Mercs, held residency at Maine's original Dubstep night Heavy Pressure with Selector Moldy and hosts Sine Language Sessions on the legendary Sub.FM every Sunday 10pm-12am EST. He's also released both vinyl and digital music on Boston's Zakim Records and NYC based Thought Render. ***Opening support*** DoubleUngood Techno Delivery Systems Fnoob Techno Radio Complaisance Resistance Corps

Moving from the somewhat monthly irregular and erratic to the very firm every third Thursday of the month over on Dublin Digital Radio at 2200 now. Holler returns to bring you that dread bass sound to DDR for two hours. Things ease in with Erick Cosaque and Voltage 8 dishing out a Guadeloupean drum machine work out followed by dubby eastern flavors from DJ Sottofett. Then it's a turn to the familiar thanks to a recent excursion in Bristol, highlights include Ishann Sound's Babylon burning anthem Trojan, yet more Seekers International, heavy steppers bizness from Grand Ancestor and a Paul St. Hilaire lyrical explosion with riddim masters Jahtari. Frankie Bones and Luke Vibert bring the hardcore and there's jungle freak out fuckery from DJ Scud, Source Direct and a remastered Bay B Kane cut. The usual supporting cast of sirens, random documentary samples and other bombastic FX come strong amidst quick switches and bursts of functional grime artillery. Not for your dinner party this.
