The Great Car Market Reset: Are Dealers Finally Negotiating Again? With Special Monthly Guest Ray Shefska of CarEdge After several years of inflated prices, limited inventory, and “take it or leave it” dealership attitudes, the automotive market may finally be returning to reality. Is the era of paying thousands over sticker becoming a thing of the past? On this month’s edition of WrenchNation Radio, host Frank Leutz welcomes back special monthly guest Ray Shefska of CarEdge to examine what many are calling The Great Car Market Reset. For consumers who delayed buying a vehicle during the pandemic and post-pandemic price surge, the conversation has become increasingly interesting. Rising inventory levels, higher interest rates, and changing consumer demand are putting pressure on dealers nationwide. In many cases, dealerships are once again finding themselves competing for customers rather than customers competing for vehicles. Additionally , as a last minute in studio surprise -we have young independent film talents Kenny Li and Nothing But Laughz as they discuss their latest film project at Singing Panda Asian Restaurant !

With over 280 car models on sale in India today you'd think every kind of customer need is catered to. However, there are a fair few high volume yet underserved segments with just 1-2 options. On this episode of the Autocar Deep Drive Podcast powered by Kotak Mahindra Prime, Hormazd Sorabjee - Editor, Autocar India - and Sergius Barretto - Managing Editor, Autocar India - discuss the models and manufacturers that rule these segments, and if others can tap into the opportunities.
Rising petrol prices are driving more Australians to consider electric vehicles (EVs), which are cheaper to run thanks to lower electricity costs and greater efficiency. Experts say online searches surged in March compared to the previous month, reflecting growing interest. With more models entering the market and charging networks expanding, buying and owning an EV is becoming increasingly accessible. For many drivers, the question is no longer if an EV will suit their needs, but how and when to make the switch.

Volkswagen of America released its sales figures for Q1 2026 and the results were mixed. Last week the automaker announced that it was going to stop assembling the ID.4 electric SUV in Chattanooga, Tennessee and retool to focus on the next-generation Atlas for model year 2027. Well, now, it's pretty clear why. Last quarter told a different tale, with a mere 338 ID.4s sold—a drop of 95.6%. Across the board, sales dipped 16.1% year-over-year, but there were some wins. The Tiguan LWB saw an increase of 55.2% and the Golf R sedan increased 4.7%, though the volumes were so low it was just a 36-unit increase. #Volkswagen #EVNews #ElectricVehicles #AutoIndustry #CarSales #ManufacturingNews #EVMarket #AutomotiveTrends #ID4 #IDBuzz #Atlas #CarMarket #AutoSales #IndustryNews #FutureOfCars #EVTransition #BusinessNews #SupplyChain #AutoIndustryNews #MarketTrends

In this week's episode of the Demystify Podcast, Dave and Dharmesh sit down with Vilius Oškeliūnas, wealth manager and co-founder of Commody, for a fascinating discussion about the intersection of traditional finance, blockchain infrastructure, and petrolhead passion. Vilius shares how Commody was born from a simple but powerful idea: connecting serious car collectors with enthusiasts who dream of owning iconic vehicles but cannot justify the full purchase price. By fractionalising collectable cars into affordable units, starting from just €25, Commody enables individuals to build their “dream garage” piece by piece. The conversation explores how the platform legally structures ownership using special purpose vehicles (SPVs), separating legal and economic rights while ensuring regulatory clarity. Each fractional unit is linked to an NFT on the Solana blockchain, providing transparent and efficient ownership tracking, not as a speculative crypto asset, but as a modern accounting and depository mechanism. A key theme of the episode is the emotional dimension of collecting. While investment potential plays a role, Vilius explains that for most collectors, the primary driver is passion, nostalgia, and community. Commody leans into that community aspect, creating a shared space for enthusiasts rather than simply replicating a closed-end fund model. The discussion also dives into the challenges of operating at the boundary between traditional finance and Web3. From navigating European regulation to addressing liquidity in secondary markets, Vilius outlines how Commody is building a marketplace model that differs from existing fractional platforms by allowing dynamic ownership transfers rather than fixed holding periods. Looking ahead, the group considers the broader implications of tokenisation, including whether real-world assets like cars could eventually sit alongside traditional investments in wealth portfolios. As tokenisation matures, the line between passion assets and financial instruments may become increasingly blurred. For anyone curious about real-world asset tokenisation, fractional ownership, and how blockchain can support tangible collectables beyond speculation, this episode offers a fresh and practical perspective.

It's the month of love and football, and Rick Schmidt is back with another edition of Ask Rick to break down what's happening right now in the automotive world. Rick weighs in on recent comments from Ford CEO Jim Farley about the future of sedans, noting that American automakers have largely abandoned the affordable sedan market—leaving foreign manufacturers, especially Korean brands, to quietly dominate the segment. With early signs pointing toward low-cost electric sedans on the horizon, Rick believes Detroit may yet have an opportunity to re-enter a market it once owned. Rick also reviews the eye-opening results from January's major car auctions, calling it a market that “blew the doors off.” Unexpected vehicles crossed the $100K mark, classic '50s cars held strong, and certain sporty models like the Thunderbird remain undervalued despite high-dollar restorations. The episode wraps with a real-world Mecum challenge: three cars bought under $60K—can one be enjoyed for a year, untouched, and sold at Mecum January 2027 for a win? Rick breaks down the strategy and the risks behind the picks. The post TMCP #639: Ask Rick! Mecum Kissimmee Shockers — Is the Muscle Car Market Hot or Cooling? first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.
