Hello to the last of the living out there in the ethersphere. In this episode of Up Is Down I present the recent Operation Warp Speed update and press briefing. I hate to say "lots to unpack here" but...there is a lot to unpack here.Alex Azar, Moncef Slaoui and General Gus Perna walk us all through the recent development details of the Sars-Cov-2 Coronavirus vaccines (there are SIX of them) that are ready to roll out and the plans of deployment to every man, woman and child in the continental US beginning next month and continuing throughout the coming the year. The plan calls for rapid vaccine availability within 24hrs of Emergency Use Authorization. Lots of very good information in this press briefing. And of course lots of information left out.Operation Warp Speed Briefing Nov.18 2020https://twitter.com/DBrozeLiveFree/status/1329195804389761037?s=20CDC Suspends Seasonal Flu Data Collection:http://www.powreport.com/2020/10/editorial-cdc-suspends-reporting-for.html"The MRNA Vaccine will change your DNA forever" -Bill Gateshttps://fromrome.info/2020/09/06/bill-gates-the-covid-vaccine-will-change-your-dna-forever/Watch Bill squirm when asked about side effects and dosage on CBShttps://twitter.com/LegendaryEnergy/status/1287509508206391296?s=20Clint Richardson breaks down ALL THE LIES on Ripple Effect Podcast w/ Ricky Verandas (maybe one of the best interviews I've ever heard)https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/rvtheory6/episodes/2020-11-13T05_03_37-08_00Executive Producer for Up Is Down Episode 71 - Bryan Chapple((((S U P P O R T THE S H O W)))) https://paypal.me/frankenbones?locale.x=en_USBitCoinCash BCH: qzgwfjeu5vp634h84zzurw8kdah5j3cuxg8daq6qrk. The Look Of Paid And Organic Search Results And 2020 Core Update. Google is rolling out an updated look for paid and organic search results on desktop, bringing it more in line with the look of mobile search results. The updated design includes a more prominent “Ad” label for paid results, at least in Google's estimation, as well as favicons next to organic results. Google's search ads on the desktop now have a bolded “Ad” label in black text. Google says the label is more prominent, but early feedback suggests users are finding the paid results harder to identify. Being a broad core update, the January 2020 core update will impact all search results on a worldwide scale. It's not an update that targets something specific that webmasters can improve upon, like the “Speed Update.” Google's guidance regarding this update remains the same as previous core updates. Google points to this blog post specifically. Google has informed us that you may see a spike in errors in the unparsable structured data report within Google Search Console. This is a bug in the reporting system and you do not need to worry. The issue happened between January 13, 2020, and January 16, 2020. After Google Ads announced it would be sunsetting average position, Microsoft Advertising introduced impression share reporting metrics but said it would continue showing average position as well. That always felt a bit half-hearted, though, particularly when most advertisers mostly shrugged off the change. Google is acquiring Irish startup Pointy, the companies announced Tuesday. Pointy has solved a problem that vexed startups for more than a decade: how to bring small, independent retailer inventory online. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Pointy had raised less than $20 million so it probably wasn't an expensive buy for Google. But it could have a significant impact on the future of product search.

For those with fast sites that think boosting their site speed even more might help, Schwartz has a great FAQ from January, when the update was first announced, that clarifies making a fast site even faster won't have significant changes under this new algorithm. While it is extremely important, site speed isn't the only factor Google considers when creating rankings for pages. The quality of the content, as well as the relevance to search queries all play a role. In fact, Google confirmed in Schwartz' FAQ that even a slow site with great content may still rank about faster sites. That said, if your site hasn't had maintenance or optimizing in a long while, or your site is out of date, you may be affected by this new algorithm change. You can check how your site is performing on desktop and mobile by using Google's PageSpeed Insights. If you're dissatisfied with your result, or find yourself frustrated by your sites slow loading speed, don't be afraid to reach out and see if we can help. This week: Instagram releases a slew of new features, a Facebook deadline is fast approaching, and Google adds a new report to its repertoire. Here’s what happened this week in digital marketing. https://ignitevisibility.com/google-speed-update-new-features-instagram/
Google's local pack, the local results that show up in the main search results page, now may show different business categories next to a business's name based on the category the user queried. Google has removed the ability for users to book rides with Uber directly through the Google Maps app. This is a feature that has been around since 2017, and was removed without any announcement other than an update to the “Request a ride” help page. Google has started showing store return policies within Google My Business listings in local search results. This was first spotted by Sergey Alakov, who posted about it on Twitter. July is shaping up to be a big month for Google. Earlier this month, the company announced its Speed Update set to roll out in July, and today announced it will then also mark all sites that have not migrated to HTTPS as “not secure.” Facebook is now monetizing groups by giving admins the option to implement monthly membership fees. Subscriptions are currently being piloted with a select number of groups and may be rolled out more widely depending on user feedback. Facebook says that subscriptions are being introduced as a way to support group admins who give their time and energy to maintaining communities.

Today on Webcology Google is sending out new Google Search Console notifications to some webmasters asking them to "provide a manifest and high resolution favicon for" their web sites. I guess Google wants higher resolution favicons to show up in the Chrome browser. Google announced they have a new AdWords policy around ticket resellers. Specifically they now "require all event ticket resellers to be certified and to radically increase their transparency." Also today they announced a new ranking algorithm designed for mobile search. The company is calling it the “Speed Update,” and it will only impact a small percentage of queries, Google reiterated to us. Only pages that “deliver the slowest experience to users” will be impacted by this update, the company says. Most recently, Google has partnered with open-source content management system (CMS) WordPress, arguably the largest, with market share nearing 59 percent and an estimated 1/3 of all web content published through the platform.

Today's Commexis Cast discusses Google's upcoming "Speed Update" which will have mobile site speed play a direct role in a page's rankings. Google announced the update in a blog post yesterday with a scheduled release of July 2018. The company wrote, "The 'Speed Update,' as we're calling it, will only affect pages that deliver the slowest experience to users and will only affect a small percentage of queries. It applies the same standard to all pages, regardless of the technology used to build the page. The intent of the search query is still a very strong signal, so a slow page may still rank highly if it has great, relevant content." And at the end of the day, site speed is all about the user experience. In their blog post, Google links to a Thinking With Google study that showcased "[t]he average time it takes to fully load a mobile landing page is 22 seconds, according to a new analysis. Yet 53% of visits are abandoned if a mobile site takes longer than three seconds to load." With only 7 seconds to grab a user's attention before they bounce, Google hopes these algorithm changes will encourage brands to speed up their web presence. Matt and Amy breakdown what this new update means for your business going forward. Today's cast: Amy Leach (Commexis SEO Project Manager) and Matthew McGrorty (Commexis Videographer/Podcaster).
