It's another chapter in The Dialogue Series. A chill ‘n chat with musicians, authors, fellow podcasters, listeners, and more. Our guest is Frank Meyer. Frank is an award-winning musician, director, and author from Los Angeles. He's best known for his vocal work with Rock ‘n' Roll Hall of Famer James Williamson (Iggy and the Stooges), his rock band The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs, and his studio and road work with cult legends Wayne Kramer (MC5), Cherie Currie (The Runaways), Sylvain Sylvain (New York Dolls), Cheetah Chrome (Dead Boys), just to name a few. Frank was the very first guest of the Booked On Rock podcast. He appeared in May of 2021 to talk about his two excellent books: On The Road With The Ramones and When The Wall Of Sound Met The New York Underground. He's got a brand-new documentary feature film out now called Freestyle 101 Hip-Hop History. It's just been released on Amazon Prime, Google Play, and YouTube Movies. We'll talk about that, along with just some of the many, many stories he has to tell.Frank saw the metal band Body Count perform a concert where they brought actual Uzis on stage! He got to see Axl Rose around 1984 when he was an unknown, singing in a band called Rapid Fire. He later caught a pre-famous Axl and Slash backstage at an MTV Video Awards show stealing food from a catering line. We talk the raw side of Eddie Van Halen, why he would love to see Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony write a book and what he'd want to be in it. We wind down with a discussion of Keith Richards, and the latest Rolling Stones album Hackney Diamonds!Watch Freestyle 101: Hip-Hop History On Amazon PrimeVisit thefrankmeyer.com & thefrankmeyerdirector.comFrank Meyer Social Media Sites:Facebook (Frank Meyer)Instagram (Frank Meyer)Facebook (101: Hip-Hop History)Instagram (101: Hip-Hop History)----------BookedOnRock.com The Booked On Rock YouTube Channel Follow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich: FACEBOOK TWITTER INSTAGRAM TIKTOK Find Your Nearest Independent Bookstore Contact The Booked On Rock Podcast: thebookedonrockpodcast@gmail.com The Booked On Rock Music: “Whoosh” by Crowander / “Last Train North” & “No Mercy” by TrackTribe

As I have stated quite often during these cover tune broadcasts, I have a special folder where I place remakes as I come across them. Once that folder is full, it's time to do a show. This time around, that folder grew at a pretty rapid pace. Of course I'm going to air Ultrabomb's version of “Sonic Reducer”. I don't think anybody is surprised by the inclusion of “Borstal Breakdown” from that new live Replacements album. But many may be shocked by the inclusion of two tracks from the 1968 collaboration between Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood. Honestly, I had never heard these bonkers tunes until one day I hung out in my friend's record store. Seriously, that version of “You've Lost That Loving Feeling” is something everybody should check out. But what made it essential that I do this theme this very week are two special records that arrived a few days ago. The first is All The Covers (And More) by The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs. Released on September 30 on Rum Bar Records, this 38 track compilation gathers together all of the remakes the band has recorded in their 25 year history. The other is the latest project by Geoff Palmer. Standing In […]

For the debut episode of Booked On Rock we talk with Frank Meyer, author of two great books on the Ramones!ON THE ROAD WITH THE RAMONES: Throughout the remarkable twenty-two-year career of the Ramones the seminal punk rock band Monte A. Melnick saw it all. He was with the band for over 2,200 shows, from their very early CBGB dates to their final show in 1996 working his way up to be the bands tour manager. Monte tells his story of what it is like to be on and off the road with the band. Full of insiders' perspectives and exclusive interviews and packed with over 300 personal color photos and images; this is a must-have for all fans of the Ramones. The Ramones are Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famers, Recording Academy Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winners, MTV Lifetime Achievement Award winners, Long Island Music Hall of Fame Award winners and inductees into The Library of Congress' National Recording Registry.Purchase the book through Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Road-Ramones-Bonus-Monte-Melnick/dp/1095651102/refWHEN THE WALL OF SOUND MET THE NEW YORK UNDERGROUND: "When the Wall of Sound Met the New York Underground: The Ramones, Phil Spector and End of the Century" explores the collaboration album between two rock legends. New York punk trendsetters The Ramones had spent years cranking out influential albums that failed to set the charts on fire, so it was decided they should team with legendary '60s producer Phil Spector to make that elusive hit album that would take them to the top. But like most thing in the world of The Ramones, things didn't quite work out the way they planned. Guns, drugs, affairs, death, mannequins and madness ensued as the band attempted to fuse their style with the work of an esteemed madman. All the while the band was shooting the Roger Corman b-movie Rock 'n' Roll High School and burning the candle at both ends. The result is the misunderstood classic, End of the Century. Penned by On the Road with the Ramones author and Streetwalkin' Cheetahs frontman Frank Meyer, "When the Wall of Sound Met the New York Underground" unearths the most fascinating story in the Ramones saga.Purchase the book through Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/When-Wall-Sound-York-Underground-ebook/dp/B008FT4V1C/refSongs Discussed In This Episode: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0Oj5bCaV03hWKC3pEP4xjT?si=0a2d67b208294278The Booked On Rock Website: https://www.bookedonrock.comFollow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich:FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/bookedonrockpodcastTWITTER: https://twitter.com/bookedonrockContact The Booked On Rock Podcast:thebookedonrockpodcast@gmail.comThe Booked On Rock Theme Song: “Whoosh” by Crowander [ https://freemusicarchive.org/music/crowander]

All Proceeds Go To Jubilee Consortium and Sweet Relief. Video Premieres via BrooklynVegan.Following the release last month of the benefit track "FLATTEN THE CURVE" which features members of Minutemen, Runaways, Redd Kross, and more artists and bands from the punk, indie and hard rock world, the wide array of contributing musicians decided to create a video to accompany the track. Sequestered and observing social distancing guidelines and rules, many of those participating in the track submitted self-shot footage for the fun and arresting video which premiered on BrooklynVegan.“This video is like a bizarre Rock 'n' Roll alternate reality," says songwriter/vocalist/backing vocalist/guitarist Frank Meyer (The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs, Blind House) who wrote the song and directed the video. "Nowhere else would you see members of Minutemen and The Adolescents rockin' next to members KIX and JetBoy. Where else would you see the singer of The Runaways and Josie Cotton alongside members of Fishbone, Screeching Weasel and The Supersuckers? It's like my whole record collection made a record together and then a video... Actually I guess they did!"Set up to create awareness to prevent the spread of COVID-19, "Flatten The Curve" collected seminal and iconic rock, punk and alternative rock luminaries, celebrating the power of a community coming together to stop the pandemic. The song was written over the course of two days and the recording took one week to assemble and coordinate the full cast of characters. “Flatten the Curve” reaped the rewards from the contributions of its wealth of guests, all of whom donated their time and talent while isolated and in quarantine.Benefiting Jubilee Consortium and Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, “Flatten the Curve” will donate 100% of its proceeds equally between the charities. The Jubilee Consortium (a 501c3 impact organization) is a Los Angeles-based operation committed to creating healthy and just neighborhoods through enrichment opportunities and leadership programs that promote good health, develop leaders and offer alternatives to violence. Sweet Relief Musicians Fund provides financial assistance to all types of career musicians and music industry workers who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability, or age-related problems. “Flatten The Curve” is available for streaming now via Spotify here:https://open.spotify.com/album/0CgapzDdExKmprm44HeBbs?si=7Szbor_YR-Wyrir3wGd8sgThe Adventures of Pipeman Radio Show is broadcast live every day 10am ET- Noon ET on W4CY Radio (www.w4cy.com), W4VET Radio, and K4HD Radio (www.k4hd.com) part of Talk 4 Radio (www.talk4radio.com) on the Talk 4 Media Network (www.talk4media.com). Filmmaker, author, and musician Frank Meyer (ATTACK OF THE SHOW, X-PLAY, VIDEOGAME THEATER, RISEN: THE STORY OF CHRON ‘HELL RAZAH' SMITH) braves the apocalypse to sit down with Adam, Joe, and Arwen and share his career story. From growing up around established artists and industry players… to fronting the punk band THE STREETWALKIN' CHEETAHS… to writing the definitive biography about THE RAMONES (“On The Road With The Ramones”)… to becoming a producer for the G4 Network… to creating the award-winning web series FREESTYLE 101… to developing digital programming for several television shows (FRIDAY NIGHT TYKES, BEST BARS IN AMERICA, and X-PLAY)… to directing the MTV Italy puppet TV series VIDEOGAME THEATER… to directing the new documentary RISEN about Wu Tang Clan's affiliate rapper Chron ‘Hell Razah' Smith who suffered a near fatal brain aneurysm… Meyer is truly an artist who has done it ALL. Dr. Arwen provides dueling emotional support for a patient with questions about “the end” as well as a patient suffering from the sophomore effort jitters and everyone keeps their spirits up while facing the Coronavirus pandemic in this truly inspiring conversation about what it really means to never give up.
