Canadian-born Jon Mikl Thor began his career in the early ‘70s as a champion body builder competing against the world’s strongest men and winning numerous awards along the way. But his love for heavy metal music compelled him to retire from body building and develop his skills as a musician and performer. Taking the mononym THOR, he quickly gained a devout following in the burgeoning metal scene thanks in part to elaborate and provocative live shows, which frequently featured Jon performing amazing feats of strength - bending steel bars with his teeth and exploding water bottles with his lungs! A performance on the Merv Griffin Show led to a record deal with RCA in late 1976 and the release of his debut Keep The Dogs Away. But it wasn’t until THOR’s follow-up album,1985’s Only The Strong, that he really began to flex his muscles. Thanks to fist-pumping anthems like “Thunder On The Tundra”and the powerful title track, Only The Strong became a landmark release and continues to be heralded as one of the finest metal albums of the ‘80s. As the music scene began to change in the decades that followed, THOR continued to be a champion for true metal, releasing numerous well-received studio and live albums. Then,in 2015, THOR teamed with indie giant Cleopatra Records for a new album, Metal Avenger, which featured special guest performances from many of THOR’s admirers including Henry Rollins, Fast Eddie Clarke of Motörhead, Cheetah Chrome of Dead Boys, Jay Jay French of Twisted Sister and more. A feature-length documentary film, “I Am Thor,” was released in 2016 followed by more studio albums that put THOR in collaboration with some fellow metal deities like W.A.S.P.'s Chris Holmes, Raven vocalist John Gallagher, Soilwork singer Björn Strid, Danko Jones, Anthrax's Neil Turbin, Ross “The Boss” Friedman and others! Now celebrating an incredible 50 years of headbanging domination, THOR shows no sign of slowing down. Indeed, if his newest album and recent tours are any indication, he may just be getting started!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week on Toilet Radio: Jake E Lee isn't afraid of anything, including the guy that shot him multiple times. Tim Lambesis was caught on video acting violent and insane towards his wife. He responds by saying that he is a victim and this is is all HER fault, actually. SHOCKING. Sick New World tried to put dozens of bands on a one day fest and pay 10 million dollars to Metallica and Linkin Park. In related news, Sick New World Fest is cancelled. The Dead Boys and Cleopatra Records attempted to get their now-former singer to do vocals that would be replaced by an AI-Stiv Bators. To hell with these robots, man. Finally, Ronnie Radke has an all-time meltdown while streaming Minecraft, is no longer welcome in Austria. Want more Toilet Radio? After taking it away from Max, Netflix took Dead Boy Detectives to the max! They test the premise in simple ways (turning a crow into a heartsick teen), inventive (using a magic bag to hide from a demon from the depths of Hell) and macabre (I guarantee you have never seen sausage links used like this). And we finally get to do some legit bonkers guessing! But do we get it right? (And where do the Dead Boys get their office supplies?) Con motivo del 50 aniversario del mítico sello Bomp Records, la disquera Munster está reeditando algunos de sus más emblemáticos lanzamientos. Entre ellos el primer álbum de The Pandoras, “It’s about time” (1984). The Lords of The New Church.Playlist;(sintonía) THE PANDORAS “Haunted Beach Party”THE PANDORAS “Want need love”THE PANDORAS “I want him”THE PANDORAS “It’s about time”THE PANDORAS “I live my life”THE PANDORAS “You don’t satisfy”THE PANDORAS “Hot Generation”Versión y Original; THE SUNSETS “Hot generation” (1967)THE PANDORAS “Cry on my own”STIV BATORS “It’s cold outside”STIV BATORS “Evil boy”STIV BATORS “Make up your mind”STIV BATORS “Crime in the streets”STIV BATORS “I had too much to dream (last night)”STIV BATORS “I wanna forget you (just the way you are)”STIV BATORS “Swingin’ a go-go”STIV BATORS “A million miles away”Escuchar audio

Alago grew up in Brooklyn, New York, in a large, spirited, and devoted Puerto Rican family. Through his early passion for music, art, theater, and photography, he soon found himself rubbing elbows with many downtown NYC scene makers, from Stiv Bators to Jean Michel Basquiat, Cherry Vanilla and Wayne County to Deborah Harry and Robert Mapplethorpe. As an underage teenager going to Max's Kansas City, CBGB, and various art galleries, Alago also began running The Dead Boys fan club. A few years later, he became the assistant music director for legendary nightclubs the Ritz and the Red Parrot. At age twenty-four, he began a storied career as an A&R executive at Elektra Records that started with signing Metallica in the summer of 1984, changing the entire landscape of rock 'n' roll and heavy metal. Alago continued to work in A&R for both Palm Pictures and Geffen Records. He was thrilled to executive-produce albums by Cyndi Lauper, Public Image Ltd, White Zombie, and Nina Simone.

The second episode of this month’s new release series focuses heavily on single releases. I’m talking the traditional sort of single, with an a-side and b-side. Not the modern streaming-era lone song that doesn’t even necessarily promote an upcoming album. Nope, this week we have quite a few two (or more) track singles, and the majority of them are available on traditional 7″ vinyl. There’s a split single feauring two tracks from The Drolls and Gentlemen Rogues. There’s an all-covers “supergroup” that sees members of the U.K. Subs and The Dead Boys covering a trio of 60’s classics. There’s fabulous punky garage-rock from The Legendary Swagger. You also get to hear the first new tunes in four years from Wyldlife. And you also get a trio of releases from a fantastic label called I-94 Recordings. Their series of releases features a brand new A-side, along wiht a cover of a Detroit artist on the flip. This is a perfect format for fans of The Sleeveens, Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders, and Norcos Y Horchata. Along with these releases are the usual mix of punk, garage, power pop, and much more! Also, please head to YouTube and subscribe to our channel – Public […]

The boys avoid the clinic at the World Series of Rock, establish punk rock cred with offensive oratory, and use the scientific method to conduct an autopsy on the corpse of Dead Boys' 1978 autobiographical punk rock lament, “Ain't It Fun.” News items and digressions include Cleveland concert history, zits, and exceptionally foul language. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rocknrollautopsy/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rocknrollautopsy/support

Jacob BuntonFrom humble beginnings in Alabama to landing on “The Other Side of Mars,” Jacob Bunton went from a $60 guitar to being the primary lead singer on the new Mick Mars album. In a rare interview (he hates talking about himself), the quietly successful vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and big-time movie/pop-music composer joins us to discuss his previous bands, Mick Mars, his love of Fastway, a vocal lesson from Bruce Dickinson and how Guns N' Roses' Hall of Fame induction derailed his band with Steven Adler. We also make him choose between Danzig, the Misfits or Samhain; and the Dead Boys versus Lords of the New Church. Created and Produced by Jared Tuten
Roger's musical journey started in the early 1980s South Florida punk and hardcore scene. Before eventually landing on the name the Drills, the band started out as Upsetters and then briefly went by Stukas, playing shows at Flynn's Ocean 71 and more. After Flynn's closed, the Drills would go on to play often at the Cameo Theatre. Over the years, the Drills played with bands such as Husker Du, Bad Brains, Dead Boys, Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I., T.S.O.L., The Lords of the New Church, Red Kross and many more! The Drills also played with countless Florida bands such as Sector 4, Amazing Grace, Noise For The Needy, Morbid Opera, Psycho Daisies, Rugged Edge, The Rock City Angels and many more! The Drills would eventually relocate to Los Angeles, morphing into Rattlebone, where they signed with Hollywood Records. Other notable L.A. bands to Roger's credit are Smash Fashion and most recently Crymwav.☞ Follow Florida Sound Archive on Instagram! @floridasoundarchive ☞ Please SUBSCRIBE to the channel and give the video a thumbs up if you enjoy the content☞ CrymwavBandcamp - https://crymwav.bandcamp.com/album/crymwav-24-7Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/crymwavFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/crymwavYouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/@Crymwav (includes Smash Fashion content)☞ Smash FashionWebsite - http://www.smashfashionmusic.com/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/smashingdandys/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/smashfashion/☞ The Drills / RattleboneFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/DrillsRattlebone/☞ Roger DeeringInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/rbantam/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/roger.deering.7

Frank Secich in conversation with David Eastaugh https://www.highvoltagepublishing.com/product/frank-secich-not-that-way-anymore https://www.amazon.co.uk/Not-That-Anymore-Frank-Secich/dp/0994629060 Blue Ash is an American band, formed in Ohio in the summer of 1969 by bassist Frank Secich & vocalist Jim Kendzor. Guitarist Bill Yendrek and drummer David Evans were recruited later that summer. The band debuted at "The Freak Out", a club in Youngstown, Ohio, on October 3, 1969. They gained a loyal following playing an endless stream of one-nighters over that year. In October 1970, Bill Yendrek, was replaced by guitarist/songwriter Bill "Cupid" Bartolin. Blue Ash continued playing 250–300 dates a year throughout Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and West Virginia, while the songwriting team Frank Secich and Bill Bartolin accumulated an enormous amount of original material. In June 1972, Blue Ash signed a production contract with Peppermint Productions of Youngstown and started recording and sending out demos. In late 1972, they were signed to Mercury Records by A&R man Paul Nelson. Their first album No More, No Less was released in May 1973 and received rave reviews in the rock press. It is considered a power pop classic, and is regarded as highly collectible among fans of that genre

Aaron Lange Co-founder of Stone Church Press, author of Ain't It Fun and Peppermint Werewolf. n the 1970s, Peter Laughner was a founding figure in a primordial ooze of what would come to be called punk rock, in the somewhat unlikely, somewhat necessary place of Cleveland, Ohio. Bands like Pere Ubu, the electric eels, Rocket From the Tombs, the Dead Boys, Devo, and the Pagans all intermingled in this psychosphere; Laughner touched them all. In 1977 at the age of 24 he became punk rock's first casualty. While his short life ended more than a half a century ago, his legacy continues to resonate; Henry Rollins and Guns N' Roses have covered his songs, while Wilco and the Mountain Goats drop references to him in their lyrics. Underground comix stalwart Aaron Lange makes his much-anticipated graphic novel debut with this deeply researched biography. Through extensive interviews with the people who were there, Ain't It Fun charts the cultural, environmental, and societal factors that shaped both Laughner and the Midwestern proto-punk subculture he championed. Ain't it fun when you know that you're gonna die young? “Grounded in real crime, with blazing and withering faces looking into their precious moments and looking back at what's left, this is a mystic story of a city wrapped around the life and death of a musician whose talent, on certain nights, on certain records, was otherworldly. A sense of disbelief churns through the intricate, exploding pages. It seems a wonder there's anyone left to tell the tale.” Get Ain't It Fun Here: aint-it-fun-peter-laughner-aaron-lange Aaron's Info https://stonechurchpress.com/product-category/aaron-lange/ stonechurchpress aaron.lange
