Nikita Krylov didn't make it tot he Octagon on Saturday through Illness so the whole UFC APEX card had a little reschuffle. Brendan Allen took full advantage submitting Andre Muniz whilst Tatiana Suarez showed she hasn't missed a beat despite a long lay off. Bellator 291 provided a bit of fun and a conversation about their welterweight king being too good for the promotion. On today's episode of UFC Unfiltered, Jim and Matt are joined by a special guest co-host in Tristar Gym owner and head coach Firas Zahabi. With UFC 285 right around the corner, Firas explains why he thinks the main event between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane for the vacant heavyweight title is as mouthwatering of a matchup as the recent Fight of the Year candidate put on by pound-for-pound kings Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284. With Tatiana Suarez successfully bouncing back in the win column on Saturday for the first time in her 1,358-day layoff, Firas explains why the 32-year-old's 2nd-round submission win over women's flyweight Montana De La Rosa proved she can return to the top of women's MMA and have a Khabib Nurmagomedov-like reign in the women's strawweight division. Finally, Jim takes Matt and Firas on a stroll down memory lane of the years the two spent on opposite ends of the iconic welterweight rivalry between Matt and Zahabi-trained fighter Georges St-Pierre.

We were hoping this time would come, and it's finally here. We have an episode full of greatness so let's get to it. We start things off recapping what was suppose to be Spann vs Krylov but due to an injury was switched to Allen vs Muniz. Taking full advantage of being in the new main event, Brendan Allen took full advantage and impressed with a win. We also gave out thoughts on the returning Tatiana Suarez and her dominant win. From there we give our picks and predictions for this coming PPV, UFC 285! We've been waiting and wondering if Jon Jones was going to make a return and at heavyweight and it's finally coming to fruition. From there we get back to an old segment we used to do called Fighter Pantry, in this we try a snack or food item of the country of a foreign fighter. We tried a snack from France that was very interesting. Lastly we cover the news which included Dana White's plans for an eventual rematch between Islam and Alex, WNO results, and some big fight announcements including a big title fight. As usual please be sure to comment, like, rate and subscribe!

Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann did not close out UFC Vegas 70 as planned, as their matchup was cancelled shortly before it was scheduled to begin. But Brendan Allen made the most of his first UFC main event matchup — and surprised a lot of people in the process. MMA Fighting's Mike Heck, Shaun Al-Shatti, and Alexander K. Lee react to Allen's impressive third-round submission victory of Andre Muniz in the short notice middleweight headliner and where he could go following the biggest win of his career. Additionally, they discuss Tatiana Suarez's successful return to the octagon for the first time in nearly four years with her submission of Montana De La Rosa, if the UFC won the weekend in MMA, Yaroslav Amosov's unbelievable performance against Logan Storley to retain his Bellator welterweight title, Fabricio de Andrade's TKO win over John Lineker for ONE Championship on Friday, Phil De Fries stopping Todd Duffee in the first round on Saturday to keep his incredible KSW heavyweight title run going, Floyd Mayweather vs. Aaron Chalmers, and more. Brendan Allen silenced the critics and busted a bunch of parlays when he submitted the surging Andre Muniz in, what became, the main event of UFC Vegas 70 this past Saturday at the APEX. With the middleweight division in an interesting spot, what makes sense for Allen's next fight following the biggest win of his career? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee attempt to answer that question from a matchmaking perspective. Additionally, future matchups are discussed for Tatiana Suarez following her successful return to the octagon in submitting Montana De La Rosa, Augusto Sakai after his victory over Don'Tale Mayes, along with fellow victors Mike Mallott, Jordan Leavitt, and more. It's the last one at the Apex for a while, so will the UFC close the doors with a bang with light-heavyweights colliding in the main event? We hope so. We also get pumped for Tatiana Suarez's long awaited return to the Octagon on the undercard. Closer to home, Dublin welcomes Bellator once again with a strong main event unifying their welterweight division. Zane Simon & Connor Ruebusch are here today, February 23rd, 2023, with the MMA Vivisection MAIN CARD SHOW; breaking down a set of 6 bouts on the UFC Vegas 70 Fight Night card. 'Krylov vs Spann' is a 13-bout event... "It's been a bad year for the UFC when a headlining fight between Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann looks like a pleasant upgrade from recent Fight Night offerings. Coupled with a middleweight bout between Andre Muniz & Brendan Allen, and alongside a women's flyweight bout between Tatiana Suarez & Montana De La Rosa, however, UFC Vegas 70 is at the very least a reasonably solid card.... For listeners looking to support our podcasting work as Bloody Elbow leaves the VOX network of sites, we now officially have a 'Vivisection/6th Round/MMA Depressed-us' Patreon. Both event week shows will continue to be posted, for free on BE, SoundCloud, YouTube and other podcasting apps going forward. This weekend is a monster one in combat sports with no less than FIVE major events taking place, and so of course the No Bets Barred boys are here to break down all the betting action. First, co-hosts Conner Burks and Jed Meshew dive into yet another UFC Fight Night card, UFC Vegas 70 taking place at the APEX and headlined by a light heavyweight matchup between Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann. Both Conner and Jed are a little wary of the main event, but have no such qualms about Andre Muniz and the long-awaited return of Tatiana Suarez; plus, both guys end up with a few other plays on the card. Next the boys jump into discussions about Bellator 291, with some main event action for Jed and a finely minted Chalk Soup parlay for Conner, before quick-hitting KSW and ONE Championship bets, and then rounding the whole thing out by breaking down the biggest fight of the weekend: Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury. Tommy Fury. Erin Blanchfield made a giant leap in the main event of UFC Vegas 69 this past Saturday at the APEX, but was her impressive finish of Jessica Andrade enough to get her right into a title fight, or would you rather see her get one more bout in before taking that next step? On an all-new edition of Heck of a Morning, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck reacts to Blanchfield's stoppage win, and a possible fight with Valentina Shevchenko should she defeat Alexa Grasso at UFC 285, Additionally, listener questions include the return of Tatiana Suarez against Montana De La Rosa this Saturday at UFC Vegas 70, the interest — or lack thereof — in the Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury fight this Sunday, Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane, Israel Adesanya returning in April to fight Alex Pereira, and much more.
