Why This Episode Matters:This episode isn't about hacks, gear flexes, or shortcuts. It's about the internal work that makes a long creative life possible. Birocratic opens up about imposter syndrome, optimism, failure, discipline, and the systems he's built to protect his relationship with music. If you've ever felt behind, overwhelmed, scattered, or unsure whether you're doing “enough,” this conversation offers a grounded, human counterpoint to the pressure-filled narrative surrounding modern music careers.Who is Birocratic:Birocratic is a producer and artist known for warm, melodic, feel-good instrumentals that sit at the intersection of lofi, beat music, and instrumental pop. Beyond his catalog, he's a working musician in many forms: producer, bassist, engineer, mixing engineer, and collaborator. In this episode, we hear not just about his music, but how he thinks about building a life that can actually sustain creativity. What We Dive Into:* Being “the dumbest person in the room” and why that's a gift* Playing bass in a band after years as a solo producer* Developing your ear through listening, transcription, and real-time adaptation* Why recording yourself is one of the fastest learning tools* Optimism, accountability, and separating mistakes from identity* The concept of “personal, permanent, and pervasive” thinking* Journaling, reflection, and mental health as creative maintenance* Morning pages, voice memos, and nightly check-ins* Structure as a gateway to freedom and flow* Timers, non-zero days, and realistic consistency* Saying no, setting boundaries, and protecting creative energy* Collaboration versus solitude, and why both matter* Redefining success beyond milestones and external validationThree Key Takeaways:* Growth Lives in Discomfort: Putting yourself in rooms where you're less experienced can be humbling, but it's one of the fastest paths to real development. Being surrounded by people who are better than you isn't a failure. It's an opportunity.* Structure Protects Inspiration: Clean spaces, clear schedules, timers, and reflection aren't constraints. They're what make flow possible. When the basics are handled, your creativity has room to breathe.* Success Is a Series of Good Days: Success isn't one moment or metric. It's built from showing up, doing what you said you'd do, and ending the day feeling aligned. Stack enough of those days, and the bigger picture takes care of itself.Join the ProducerHead CommunityIf you're not subscribed yet, you'll get access to submit your released music for features, send works-in-progress for feedback, plus two free tools: The Invisible Instruments (a collection of ideas to help you in and out of the studio) and Sonic Stimulus Vol. 1 (a sample pack I made specifically for this community). All free. Before You Go:Ask yourself what version of music-making actually feels good in your body and your life. Not what looks impressive online, but what you could realistically sustain for years. Then start building toward that, one small action at a time.Chapters:0:00 – Intro1:48 – Meeting in real life and setting the tone4:32 – Being the least experienced person in the room8:10 – Playing bass in a band and learning to truly listen13:05 – Developing your ear through repetition and mistakes18:42 – Recording yourself as a learning tool23:55 – Separating identity from performance29:40 – Optimism vs negative self-talk34:28 – Journaling, reflection, and mental maintenance40:15 – Morning pages and daily check-ins45:22 – Structure, routines, and creative freedom51:10 – Timers, non-zero days, and realistic consistency57:35 – Saying no and protecting creative energy1:03:40 – Collaboration versus solitude1:09:15 – Redefining success beyond milestones1:15:30 – Building a life that supports creativity1:21:10 – Long-term sustainability and avoiding burnout1:26:05 – Perspective shifts from touring and collaboration1:31:40 – Advice to younger producers1:36:55 – Letting go of comparison1:41:20 – What keeps music fun1:46:10 – Current inspirations and creative curiosity1:51:35 – What's next for Birocratic1:56:10 – Final reflections on growth and optimism2:00:45 – Closing thoughts2:03:00 – OutroList of References from the Interview:Books / Concepts* Learned Optimism by Martin Seligman* The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron* Atomic Habits by James ClearGear / Tools* Fender P-Bass* Ableton LiveConnect with Birocratic:* YouTube: Birocratic* Instagram: @birocratic* Spotify: Birocratic* Apple Music: BirocraticConnect with Toru:* Website: torubeat.com* Instagram: @torubeat* YouTube: @torubeat* Spotify: Toru* Apple Music: ToruCredits:This episode was co-produced, engineered and edited by Matthew Diaz. Welcome to the Best of 2025: What the Hell?! episode of Terror Talk Podcast, where we round up the most ridiculous, unbelievable, and head-scratching crimes of the year — the stories that made us stop mid-sentence and say, “What. The. Hell.”This special episode is packed with all-new 2025 crime stories featuring spectacularly bad decision-making, deeply confused criminals, and situations so absurd they sound fictional… but unfortunately are very real. If you love true crime with a heavy dose of humor, this one is for you.As always, we balance our disbelief with laughter, commentary, and just enough psychological insight to ask the real question: how did anyone think this was a good idea? These episodes are a reminder that while true crime can be dark and disturbing, there's also a strange, absurd side of criminal behavior that deserves to be examined — and laughed at.No glamorizing. No sympathy.Just consequences… and comedy.
When the son of Suriname's president offered to ship drugs and guns for a major terror group in 2013, it was the dimwitted denouement to decades of narco-fueled madness in the small, South American nation — which began when the two belligerents in its bitter civil war made so much cash ferrying product for Colombian cartels, that they buried their differences and worked together instead. The war ended. But the drugs never stopped flowing — particularly between Suriname and a new clique of criminals in its former colonial ruler, the Netherlands. A crazy episode, and one to add to the pantheon of the world's true, out-and-out narco states. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Send me a Text Message! In this episode, you will hear Jesus ask a question, that on first hearing, you may be tempted to think, "That's the dumbest question I've ever heard." He walks up to one broken man lying in the midst of hundreds of broken people. They're all laying around a pool because of a legend that when the pool bubbled, the first one in would be healed. Jesus walks up to this man who has laid poolside for over three decades and Jesus asks, "Do you want to be made well?"But of course, it's not really a dumb question. It's the question, we probably all need to answer. Do you want to be made well and... do you trust Jesus to do it?

Nick Saban calls it “the dumbest decision I ever made” — a fourth-and-one call from the 2001 SEC Championship Game that still sticks with him. In this episode, Mark Graban breaks down why even the greatest coaches make mistakes, what Saban learned from the moment, and how leaders can turn high-pressure missteps into opportunities for trust and growth. Perfect for listeners interested in leadership, football, coaching, and the psychology of mistakes.

Elena Verna is the head of growth at Lovable, the leading AI-powered app builder that hit $200 million in annual recurring revenue in under a year with just 100 employees. In this record fourth appearance on the podcast, Elena shares how the traditional growth playbook has been completely rewritten for AI companies. She explains why Lovable focuses on innovation over optimization, how they've shifted from activation to building new features, and why giving away their product for free has become their most powerful growth strategy. We discuss:1. Why 60% to 70% of traditional growth tactics no longer apply in AI2. Why you have to re-find product-market fit every 3 months3. The specific growth tactics driving Lovable's unprecedented growth4. Why giving away product is a growth strategy that beats paid ads5. “Minimum lovable product” as the new standard (not minimum viable product)6. Why activation now belongs to product teams, not growth teams7. Michael Pachter focuses on the video game industry, noting that there's “not much left to consolidate.” He thinks Ubisoft is a “mess” and might be taken out and Take-Two (TTWO) is the “big profit center.” He explains how console gaming and mobile gaming are two different kinds of businesses, which is why there hasn't been a lot of crossover success, he argues. On Roblox (RBLX), he calls it "the dumbest idea ever” to invest in data centers. However, its genius is that it is a platform instead of a game, he adds, which A.I. will “make easier.”======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. In the second segment of Episode 1114 of The Clay Edwards Show, host Clay Edwards reflects on how the internet age has created "the dumbest generation of humans," where people used to specialize deeply in one subject—priding himself on "knowing a guy" who was an expert in specific areas like a particular trade or topic—but now everyone knows just a little about everything, enabling quasi-intelligent conversations on dozens of subjects without true depth, often sounding like idiots (himself included). He notes his own specialties in black culture in Jackson, Mississippi, wrestling, NASCAR, and testosterone, while piecing together superficial knowledge elsewhere. Transitioning to conservative media infiltration by "LGBTQ cuck beta males," Edwards discusses discovering allegations about Benny Johnson potentially being gay, based on old BuzzFeed articles he wrote, such as "Let's Be Honest Straight Guys, We All Like Butt Stuff" and "Which President Looks Sexiest in a Swimsuit?"—arguing no straight man would pen such pieces or work for BuzzFeed, and expressing disdain for closeted figures pretending to embody traditional family values while quoting the Bible.

Grant Lee is the co-founder of Gamma, the AI-powered presentation tool that's one of the hottest and most interesting AI startups in the world right now. They're valued at over $2 billion, and they hit $100 million ARR in just over two years, with a lean team of just around 30 people. Unlike many fast-growing AI startups, Gamma has been profitable for most of its history, has not raised significant funding, and they built a massive business in a category most investors dismissed. In fact, one investor told Grant his idea was “the dumbest idea he had ever heard.”We discuss:• How Gamma found product-market fit by rethinking their onboarding• Their process for building a “word-of-mouth machine”• How they leveraged more than 1,000 micro-influencers instead of big names• Why focusing on the “first 30 seconds” transformed their business• Their approach to pricing that led to profitability within months• How Grant thinks about building a durable “GPT wrapper” business—Brought to you by:Vanta—Automate compliance. We talk about “finding ourselves” like our identity is hiding in a couch cushion somewhere. Like if we just travel enough or go on a silent retreat with an $84 ethically-sourced, emotionally-validated journal, the universe will finally reveal who we are. But what if you're not lost at all? In this video, I share how the search for your “real self” can actually keep you from living and what happens when you stop trying to find yourself and start paying attention to who you're becoming. The pro athletes and coaches who get busted for gambling are the dumbest people on earth.Former NBA players Chauncey Billups — currently the Portland Trail Blazers' head coach — and Damon Jones were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit both wire fraud and money laundering after allegedly participating in rigged poker games.Billups and Jones were allegedly dubbed as "face cards" which, the indictment says, were "members of the Cheating Teams and received a portion of the criminal proceeds in exchange for their participation in the scheme." The scheme resulted in the victims losing at least $7.15 million, dating back to April 2019, according to the Department of Justice."Billups and Jones, in particular… were utilized to attract victims to the games because of their status as former professional athletes," the DOJ said.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
