We've had some crazy stuff going on in our lives, but that won't stop us from bringing you the 2-star content you know and love(?)! This episode is full of ghosts, and men, and honestly we don't know which is scarier? In honor of Women's History Month, Sarah starts us out with not one, but two stories about ghost women. Though they may be spirits, even in life and death we have to say 'good for her'. Stephanie finishes off the episode with a story where no one dies! But a white man is on his bullshit, and does con multiple people out of more money than anyone would have guessed. Who is Zach Horwitz and who is Zach Avery, and why have we never seen them in the same room at the same time?? On a separate note, we seem to be catching these weird noises (or transmissions?) in our audio. We can't quite make out what it is... if you can understand it, please let us know! And we're still looking for Kristina and we're starting to get a little worried. So if you hear from her, or have any idea where she got of to, hit us up!

Have you ever been to a Waffle House? Do you want me to describe it to you? But seriously, you know we love our Waffle House here at Deadtime Storiez, and we might love it even more if we got the type of tip that Tonda Dickerson received in the early 2000's. Tonda Dickerson was waitressing one day when a patron tipped her a lottery ticket. That ticket was about to change her life forever...and not necessarily in a good way. Stephanie wraps up our episode with the incredibly unsettling story of the Manila Film Center. An entire, huge, film center built in only THREE days....what could go wrong?? Well...the massive amount of ghosts that remain might be able to tell you. We thank you so much for being patient with us as we figure out where the world of Deadtime Storiez is heading next. We also need to figure out where Kristina is???

Legend says, if you see a Black Carriage while driving in Overton it's a bad sign. How did the Black Carriage come to be? Well you will have to listen to find out. Stephanie wraps up with some updates to previous stories! And by previous we mean within the first 100 episodes!! She's got updates to both the Boy in the Box and the Somerton Man. We're so excited to be back on the air again! We can't thank you all enough for your continued support. You read the title right - this weeks story is about the abduction of Elizabeth Smart. But, before we get to her story we have the story of another girl. A girl named Anne who loved her home so much she never wanted to part with it, even in death. The Burton Agnes Hall in Yorkshire England was built by Annes father, and when Anne passed away her final request was to have her head be buried in the home. Well, since that was a little weird, her family didn't do that and instead buried her fully intact in the church graveyard. But Anne wouldn't let her wishes go unfulfilled. In fact, she would scream her head off until they eventually moved her head back into the house. Don't worry though - that's not the end of the story. Tune in to hear Sarah tell the rest of the saga of the "Screaming Skull of Burton Agnes Hall" And to finish the episode Stephanie is bringing us the 1990's true crime abduction case of Elizabeth Smart. Elizabeth was taken from her bed in the middle of the night at knifepoint, and the only witness was her sister lying in the bed next to her. It seemed like Elizabeth would never make it back home - but she does. And how she does is one hell of a story.

But in the meantime.... Stephanie starts us out with the unsolved mystery (murder?) of Jimmy Hoffa. Hoffa served as the President of a major labor union and made great strides for the working-person in America. That is..until he got roped in with some bad eggs. He was last seen in July 1975, and even though he was legally declared dead in 1982, no one really knows what happened to Jimmy Hoffa. Sarah takes us a little further back in history to 1184, to tell us all about the Erfurt Latrine Disaster. *used to be shithouse* When the floor gave way during a meeting called by Henry VI, 60+ people found themselves swimming in shit. Or, drowning in it rather. Because the floor that collapsed fell directly into the sewage sistern. What followed become known as one of the most unsettling, morbid, and strangely comic events of history. And what makes it even more strange is the theory that the entire event was setup..by the King..to kill his enemies/competition. Talk about one way to empty a load....

We've reached the finale of the Linda Hazzard and Starvation Heights' story. It's only fitting that for this episode, Linda was dead to begin with - because this final installment isn't about Linda, but rather the poor ghosts left behind still processing their trauma. And to continue with the ghost trend, Sarah has one more haunted tale. The S.S. Kamloops sunk to the bottom of Lake Superior in 1927 and remains there, intact, to this day. The Kamloops also holds the remains of a rather friendly underwater ghost named "Grandpa". If you have the diving prerequisites (and the guts!) you too can go down and visit Grandpa. **CONTENT WARNING** - Our final story includes child death Stephanie wraps up the episode with a story that ties back to her Satanic Panic series. The West Memphis Three were three young men convicted of the murders of three young boys in 1994. But, just because they were convicted however, that doesn't mean they did it. Buckle up because it's quite a bumpy ride to the end of this story. And while you will get off the ride with all your limbs intact, you'll certainly have a knot in your stomach.

And we were introduced to the Williamson sisters, Claire and Dora. They would prove to be Linda's downfall (in the USA that is), and after one sister dies in Linda's care she's finally charged with murder. And that would be the end of the story, right? Maybe for anyone else, but not for Linda. Tune in to hear what happens after the trial, and be sure to check back next week for PART 3!!! Stephanie wraps up the episode with the true crime, mysterious death of Kendrick Johnson. After 17 year old student didn't come home from school, his parents knew something was terribly wrong. But no-one would have guessed what actually happened - and to this day no-one really knows what happened. Listen to the details for yourself and let us know what you think. Having been dealt a bad hand from childhood, these sisters working as maids for an abusive boss, couldn't handle the capitalist bullshit any longer. In a gruesome attack, the Papin Sisters effectively ended their employment (and their freedom). Sarah finishes the episode with a good ol' Pennsylvania True Story-turned-Folklore. Sarah went to Cincinnati, Ohio last week and she's here to tell the tale! When visiting a new city, we always recommend partaking in the local ghost tour: these are the stories Sarah learned on her Cincin(nasty) Ghost Tour. Washington Park - it must be a running theme that every city that has a graveyard/potter's field HAS to name that area "Washington Park". The one in Cincinnati has a vast history, starting as a potter's field, then an orphanage, then a local park with a swimming pool, then they wanted to put in a below ground garage so the bodies buried there had to be moved and.... well, you get the picture. This now gentrified (and albeit very cute) park gets quite scary at night. With voices being heard, footsteps following you when your alone, and a dark entity that has been known to chase people; Washington Park is not just for the living to enjoy. Bonus points for Cincinnati: there is a bar called Ghost Baby. It's located 5 floors underground in the cellar of the building. It's damp, dark (underground remember?) and has an overall eerie strange feeling. Legend says that when the owners first re-opened the cellar where the bar is now located they heard the faint sound of a baby crying from within the dark. Maybe by naming the bar after the ghost it put it to rest? Go check out Cincinnati and see for yourself! Big Thanks to Cincinnati Ghost Tours for the lovely evening (and for running tours 7-days of the week!) If you find yourself in Cincinnati check them out: https://usghostadventures.com/cincinnati/

Which then takes the logical turn into local politics (and an almost successful campaign - THAT'S scary gurl). Part 2 of John R. Brinkley is a rollercoaster right until the abrupt stop at the end. You never have to worry about where your next meal is coming from! *you're welcome for the joke* We're starting a 2-part, Solo-Sarah story this week and it's all about the wild and crazy guy that was: John R. Brinkley. Widely known as Dr. John Brinkley - he was in fact, no Doctor at all. But he didn't let "invalid credentials" and a diploma from a diploma-mill stop him. John Brinkley's number one claim to fame came when he had the bright idea to implant goat testicles into the testicles of men to increase virility. And boy, did men LOVE this idea. Throughout the span of his life, John Brinkley performed his Goat Gland Transplant on thousands of patients (and not all were men *spoiler*). BUT - the Goat Gland Transplant Doctor is not his ONLY claim to fame...that's just the testicle that got the ball rolling on what would be a bumpy (and ultimately downhill) road. Tune in next week to hear how John Brinkley takes his Goat Gland Advertisements to the next level and how that would inevitably lead him into local politics (because, of course it would).

We're BAACCKK! And we're bringing you an abandoned hospital that's overrun with ghosts, and a semi-controversial true crime story that's bound to start a conversation. Sarah starts the episode with the incredibly haunted Old Changi Hospital in Singapore, China. Build in 1935 this hospital soon found itself being used to harm people instead of treat them. Rumored to have housed POW's as well as the "notorious Kempeitai" (the Japanese military police, which also played the role of that of a secret police) a group that tortured and killed many people (including the POWs) imprisoned in the hospital. With a backstory like that, you KNOW its full of ghosts - and it is. Stephanie wraps up the episode with the true crime case that inspired the most recent Hulu drama "The Girl From Plainville". It's the tale of Michelle Carter and Conrad Roy III. You might remember this case because it was all over the media, because after Conrad took his life it came out that Michelle had been texting, messaging, and talking to Conrad about doing so. Some believe she did it maliciously and should be held accountable for his suicide - while others think this was a terrible story of two mentally unwell teenagers and an incredibly unfortunate situation. What do YOU think? Should Michelle take the blame for Conrad's death? Leave us a comment and let us know!

Buckle up cause we got a long episode filled with twists and turns! Sarah starts out with 2 ghost stories: a personal account from someone who had a run-in with President John F. Kennedy. The old POTUS is apparently still hanging out in the hospital where he died, and is a helpful spirit. The 2nd ghost is another co-ed spectre doomed to haunt the dorm rooms they once occupied. Combustible Condie (TM) should have followed the rules and not brought in her Bunsen Burner. She is seen running through the halls ablaze and....screaming. Stephanie ends the episode with a true crime story that has so many twists you'll end up dizzy. Sharon Kinne, aka Jeanette Pugliese, aka La Pistolera had quite the trigger finger. AND quite the gift for making excuses and covering up her crimes. You'll never guess where this story will go, and you certainly won't guess where it ends. But all we have to say is: when in doubt, blame the baby.

We've done it, we passed the 200th mark.....now what? Now: we keep going! And we keep at our usual BS with one of our usual guests: Mariangela!!! Mariangela is back because she has some personal storiez to add to the topics of our past 2 episodes (198 & 199). Yup, she has personal "troubled teen industry" AND "serial squatter" storiez....and that's not even her main topic!!! The murder of Kim Wall is Mariangela's deep dive subject (pun intended, and you'll understand why). Kim Wall had one more final story to do in Denmark before she settled down and started a family. And after the risky stories she had covered in the past, interviewing a local man who had built his own submarine seemed like a walk in the park (or a ride under water....). Unfortunately, things are nothing like they seem in this case. Including Denmark's interesting laws, like believing someone until they have cold hard evidence they're lying. Get ready, and keep your arms and legs in the submarine at all times because this story is a bumpy (underwater) ride. If you'd like to check out the podcast we mention: Foul Play. Sarah starts us out with a local ghost story from Easton, Pennsylvania. Getter's Island is a small 6 acre island in the Delaware river off the coast of Easton, PA. It once housed a lumber mill, swimming ponds, the beginnings of a theme park, AND.... an execution. (hence the ghost) *because this was told to a live audience, there are sight-gags that are unfortunately unable to translate to this medium* Stephanie finishes off on a high note, telling us about The Worst Year To Be Alive! According to science. And we know what you're thinking..no, it's not 2020. Try going back just a few years...to 536A.D. Listen to why this was such a terrible, horrible, no good, worst year ever! With 200 episodes under our belt, it's amazing that Stephanie and Sarah never shown up with the same story to tell ---- but they do get close. Like this week! This week is all about con-men, scam artists, scum bags (and we promise we didn't plan our topics together! It's just telepathic at this point). Sarah starts off with the Deadtime Storiez SparkNotez of a story from Netflix's new show: Worst Roommate Ever. And by "Worst" roommate, we don't mean they drank the last of the milk but put the empty carton back in the fridge....we mean they ruined (and ended) peoples lives. AND - this story takes place in Sarah and Stephanie's own backyard. Jed Creek, aka Jamison Bachman, responded to a craiglist posting looking for a roommate in Chestnut Hill, PA. Little did that roommate know, once Jed (Jamison) entered your life...it would take hell to get him out. Stephanie wraps up with one of the most notable con-men stories out there, and the basis for the 2002 film "Catch Me If You Can". The story of Frank Abagnale, Jr who went from lying about being a Pilot, to lying about being a Doctor, to lying about being a Professor: and the list goes on. But we can promise you'll never guess his biggest con of all..... take a listen to find out!

We're still flying high from our live-show, and we're also remote recording! (so please forgive the audio quality). This week's first story comes with a **trigger warning** because Stephanie is talking about the "Troubled Teen Industry". In the early 2000-2010's you could find "troubled teens" all over daytime television (catch me outside, how 'bout that?). But the darker underbelly are the "schools" that exists to help "fix, or cure" these teens. Basically one big campus of Scared Straight, these schools are known for snatching kids in the middle of the night to whisk them away where they will be broken down until deemed ready to re-enter society. ......messed up right? ....well, what if we told you that many of those schools are still open and running to-this-day.... Sarah ends things on a lighter note with a ghost story from Dead Man's Canyon, Colorado. After getting an axe to the forehead, William Harkins was rightfully pissed. So pissed, that he decided to stick around and dish that piss poor attitude out to any passerbys. Sometimes throwing riders off their horses, tossing them in the creek, or just sprinting toward them: William Harkins is not a ghost you want to meet. And now that I think about it, he also has an axe STILL in his head! slight **trigger warning** on Sarah's story - www.doesthedogdie.com ----- let's just say, the canyon should have been called "Dead Man's (Best Friend) Canyon.

Sarah ends the episode with one of our favorite topics: MLMs. But more specifically, the founder of one MLM: Young Living. Sarah ran all the way from the Poconos, PA to tell Stephanie what she just experienced. Literally. Her story is about her experience and the history of The Candle Shoppe of the Poconos (and The Haunted). This house, now turned candle shopp(e), was originally home to a family of 6. Including a Doctor who conducted medical and biological experiments in the basement - on monkeys. The house is said to be haunted by the ghosts of monkeys past, and Dr. Fisher who remains behind because someone else took credit for his work. Stephanie ends the episode across the pond in Scotland, specifically at the Overtoun Bridge. This story can also be summed up in a phrase, "Put your dog on a leash". We're feeling a little cult-y (can you tell?) This week is a major deep dive into a cult we've covered in the past: NXIVM [pronounced: nex-ee-um]. Stephanie first brought the cult to the show in Episode 129, but that was just the tip of this insane iceberg. The leader, Keith [Elizabeth] Raniere was convicted and sentenced to 120 years in prison. And after you listen to this episode, we think you'll agree that it's not enough time. Maybe it's the unprecedented times we're currently in that keeps drawing us to cults, maybe it's the fact that cults are always portrayed as something in the past when they are very much something in the present, maybe it's a combo of all of the above with some schadenfreude mixed in - who knows. Stay tuned to the end of the episode where Stephanie lines out the "Signs YOU Might Be In A Cult".

Previously on Deadtime Storiez...... Stephanie told us about the Unification Church (aka The Moonies). But what she was saving for this episode was the completely insane sect that branched off from the Moonies: the World Peace and Unification Sanctuary Church - also known as - the Rod of Iron Ministries. And that is because they not only worship God in their church, but also...the AR-15 assault rifle. This church has bullet crowns, gun blessing ceremonies, and openly encourage you to bring your personal AR-15 to service.....I mean, what could be more 'Merican than that? Sarah follows up this cult-filled episode with the leader of the Remnant Fellowship church: Gwen Shamblin Lara. The woman who personifies "the higher the hair, the closer to God", Gwen started her journey as a dietician creating the "Weigh Down Workshop", a faith-based weightloss program (because that won't turn unhealthy fast...) Check out the recently released HBO Documentary "The Way Down: God, Greed, and the Cult of Gwen Shamblin". We'll be posting pictures of both on all out social media accounts. *We know that the USA is the "land of the free", and was built on the freedom of religion. Are ya'll ready to talk about some ghosts?? Because Sarah is! This week is the tale of the Ancient Ram Inn "Ghosts-Pagans-Succubus OH MY" The Ancient Ram Inn is almost 1000 years old and has the spooky history to prove it. Built upon a Pagan burial ground, this home boasts over 90 resident ghosts. With an open grave in the kitchen, no running water, and a multitude of paranormal activity: what more could you ask for in a haunted inn? Stephanie ends the episode talking about a new (to us) cult: The Unification Church. Also known in the U.S. as "The Moonies", this church came to the Americas from Korea and has some dangerous ideologies.
