Nicolas Cage. Has there ever been a more prolific and diverse film actor in the HISTORY of the CAGEVERSE? Join three old friends on an ambitious journey to pit the films of St. Nicolas Cagelus against each other in this epic battle of film reviews, harsh criticism, religious adoration, and zero sham…
We're talking Nic Cage in Windtalkers from 2002: a patriotic reunion with director John Woo that promises massive explosions, stabbings, friendly fire, psychological trauma, racism, and more confusion about who to kill on the WWII battlefield. We also find the historical accuracy to be a bit suspect. Join us Cagefighters as we dive deep into the story and production of Windtalkers, our reviews of the film, and of course some spicy, bee-tastic Nicolas Cage news! Our next film review will be Sonny (2002): Nic Cage's directorial debut starring James Franco. Hey, have you noticed we're AD FREE? Support us at buymeacoffee.com/latenightcagefight. We'll give you a shout out on the podcast and maybe more. Your donations can help us pay for podcast hosting and editing services. Thanks and don't forget to CAGE OUT!
Nicolas Cage demonstrates how to win over a town after invading, pillaging and forcing yourself on to the doctor's sexy daughter. How, you ask? JUST PLAY THEM THE MANDOLIN! Don't miss our sizzling review of Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) about Italians, Greeks and Germans trying to find companionship in the downtime between the murder that's happening because it's WWII. Nic Cage stars as Captain Corelli opposite Penelope Cruz, whose character becomes incredibly confused after her husband, played by Christian Bale, suddenly returns from the war he'd joined to die and reincarnate as Batman -- only to find out he's been replaced by a steamy hunk with a mandolin! So romantic and sensual. Hey, why are people suddenly getting their limbs blown off? As always, we discuss Nicolas Cage news followed by a review of this cinematic wonder. Like what we're doing? Follow us on Facebook and visit niccagefight.com Our next Nic Cage review will be Windtalkers (2002).
We FINALLY watched Uncle Francis Coppola's 2019 RECUT of The Cotton Club! The OG film was first discussed in Season 1 Episode 4 of Late Night Cage Fight. However, Cagefighter Steve famously refused to watch it. That all changed tonight, friends. How does the new cut compare? More tap-dancing, mobster shoot-outs... MORE JAZZ? Take a journey with us back to 1930-something as we discuss our thoughts on this restored musical crime drama starring Richard Gere, Diane Lane, and NICOLAS CAGE! That's right... he's in it too! Our next Nic Cage review will be Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001).
It's our 50th episode, and we're celebrating with a retrospective of Nicolas Cage's first film (credited as Cage) "Valley Girl"! We watched the 2003 mini-documentary "20 Totally Tubular Years Later," featuring interviews with Cage, his co-stars, and the creators of the 1980s classic. If that's not enough Cage, we also wax poetic on Nic Cage's continued influence on our lives and podcast. If you've been with us for awhile, we invite you to listen to this candid -- and slightly unhinged -- 50TH EPISODE!! Viva El Cage!!
A guest Cagefighter joins the fray to discuss Nic Cage's recent horror offerings in 2024! You wouldn't steal a car. You wouldn't steal the Declaration of Independence. You definitely wouldn't illegally download Gone in 60 Seconds from the high seas and review it for science and/or comedy. Yes, you guessed correctly. We the Cagefighters review Nicolas Cage's first film of the 21st century -- his car heist smash hit that feels forever stuck in the 90s. Did we like it? Did we love it? Listen and find out. But make it quick, I can hear the fuzz coming.
Nicolas Cage teams up with Martin Scorsese to create one of the weirdest works of EMT fiction to ever hit the big screen. We're talking about 1999's "Bringing Out the Dead," which stars Cage as a burned-out paramedic in Manhattan who is haunted by the patients he failed to save. On the plus side, he does get to drink and do drugs on the job, so we're really not sure what he's complaining about. If only SOMEONE would FIRE HIM, DAMMIT! Just like our next episode, that apparently must wait until next week. Next up will be our review of "Gone in 60 Seconds." Find us at niccagefight.com
Cagefighter Steve and Reece share a birthday only five days apart of the same year of our lord Nicolas Cage: 1988. To celebrate, Cagefighter Steve selected horror/mystery Happy Death Day (2017) for this Cageless movie review episode. Cagefighter Reece soon realizes Cagefighter Steve actually wants him dead.
Have you ever wanted to buy the most deplorable pornography you can imagine from a man beneath the subway? Have you ever wondered how much it would cost to crowdfund a REAL snuff film? (1st world problems, I know.) If you answered YES to either question, then this may be the review for YOU! So switch your cybertruck to autopilot, crank that Vision Pro volume to EARBLEED, and relax with us while we talk Nicolas Cage's role in the 1999 thriller 8MM. We Cagefighters were admittedly delighted and disturbed by this tragic tale of porno deep dives, one-percenter torture fantasies, and revenge murder. Hear our thoughts and concerns, and please someone get us in touch with a good therapist for the love of god.

Ever wonder what it's like to wake up from your life as a filthy rich Wall Street banker to a life of poverty, shame and... CHILDREN? Nicolas Cage stars in this Christmas-themed episode of "Outer Limits" that's stretched out to two hours and filled with super sappy love scenes and Don Cheadle as some kind of timelord. We also discuss Nic Cage's recent announcement that he plans to step away from acting to focus on being a REAL family man. And we also drop some hints about our next episode, which is sure to be something special. Thanks for listening to Late Night Cage Fight!
Happy Cage-Giving, friends. 'Tis the season for a Cage-y trip down the horrid holiday lane. The first movie of our holiday bunch we subjected our sanity to was St. Nic's 1994 "Trapped in Paradise" -- a Christmas movie so hard to watch it's like being trapped with John Travolta in Hell. Hear us riff on the movie that also stars John Lovitz and Dana Carvey and ask questions about the meaning of life. Why, Nic Cage, why? Was this a "Mandy" prequel? Krampus origin story? The world will never know. But it doesn't matter, because Earth is just one small planet in the vast, infinite Cageverse.
With our first contender for the season's crown, "Snake Eyes" rolls in our laps like a pair of Cage testicle props from "Prisoners of the Ghostland". Join the Cagefighters for a spirited review of this classic boxing/gambling/Mission Impossible-esque thriller starring our hero of space and time. But not before we force Cagefighter Steve to experience the new trailer for A24's upcoming movie starring Nic Cage called, "Dream Scenario," which will release this month! Tune in for our thoughts on "Snake Eyes" and follow us on social media or visit our website at NicCageFight.com. Are you a Cage fan with an opinion? Email your thoughts to latenightcagefight@gmail.com and maybe we'll give you a shout-out. Cage Out!
We sell our souls to The Devil this Halloween for a flaming skull and one *totally trippendicular* motorcyle! We're talking about GHOST RIDER, baby, which so happens to be Nicolas Cage's initiation into the Marvel cinematic universe. We share our thoughts on the movie and on Cage's performance, and why we think Cage should be in EVERY super(anti)hero movie EVER. So SMASH that play button and prepare to get Penance Stared for 47 minutes.
The Cagefighters took a year off to recover from seeing The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Now we're back for another season of Cage movies, beginning with this back-the-blue post-Katrina favorite, Bad Lieutenant. In this film, Nic Cage plays a bad lieutenant and we talk about it. The Cageverse never dies, baby.
Director Kevin Lewis -- known for the Gonzo Cage-Horror Willy's Wonderland -- delivers a twisted vision of elder care gone wrong in The Accursed. And with demons, witches, and hot librarians, what's not to love? Hear our thoughts on the movie and why we think it's not okay to spew black blood on your nurse, or eat apples from a stranger's kitchen. The Accursed is now available on streaming. Cageless is our special series where we discuss movies not involving or, in this case, only "tangentially-related" to the art and legacy of Nicolas Cage. Thanks for listening and Happy Halloween!

The showdown of the century in two acts. We begin with an epic discussion of Nicolas Cage's iconic and endlessly meme-able Con Air. There's really not much more to say about it. It's a movie that deserves its own religion and blow-dryer products. Will it hold out against the amazing Face/Off? Check out Part II to find out! *Correction: Tommy Lee Jones's voice is NOT in Con Air. IMDB says it is Powers Boothe, though it is unconfirmed and he is uncredited.
Nicolas Cage recently gave one of Reddit's best "Ask Me Anythings" of all time. Cagefighter Reece picks 21 of his favorite questions and asks the other fighters to guess how they think our favorite actor answered. Points are then awarded in a sloppy game show format! We also discuss what's coming up for our podcast, as well as Cage's "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" that debuts this week! (If you are listening while driving: there are sirens from an ambulance in the background audio during the first half of the recording. Please do not be alarmed!)
We relive Nicolas Cage's second-best* Christian film Season of the Witch (2011) while playing a shoehorned Halloween truth-or-dare game. Cagefighter Steve argues the movie is a strong defense of the Crusades, while Shawn ponders whether he is a witch or a devil. You'll also hear a true account of a ghost encounter. Happy Halloween! *Cage's #1 Christian film is Left Behind, duh!
Hear our full review of the new Nicolas Cage "weird western" action flick Prisoners of the Ghostland! It's time for more cage-fighting as we've now entered The Golden Age of Cage! While you may be familiar with Michael Bay's music video movie The Rock (1996), find out why Kiss of Death (1995) is absolutely worth a watch with Nic Cage portraying "a really bad dude." Tune in to find out how Sam and Bucky deal with a post Steve Rogers world and with timely issues like terrorism, systematic racism and best practices for operating a nautical themed business. Satanic animatronics are slaughterin' kids again up at Willy's? Who you gonna call? CAGEFIGHTERS. Warriors of the Cage! We talk a lot about the recent Gonzo Nic Cage release Willy's Wonderland (2021) -- where a muted Nicolas Cage is forced to pantomime for 90 minutes. Cue shots of furious cleaning, pinball, graphic violence, and sweet sweet soda guzzling. We share our impressions of this B-movie disasterpiece before the episode quickly descends into chaos. Stay tuned for more Late Night Cage Fight! Our next episode will be the Season 3 Premiere!
Why isn't Nicolas Cage in WandaVision? We team up with fellow podcast host, comic shop owner, writer, and Super Knowledge Man Jordan Lowe to ask the tough questions about this intriguing series that's the best thing on Disney+ since Dunston Checks In 2: Orang-aTAT-TAT-TAT. Shawn revels in his supreme knowledge of everything Marvel, which causes Reece to question his life choices. We discuss our favorite sitcoms and try to predict future events that may or may not unfold in WandaVision. So drop in to our small gated community, kick back and ignore the static. We're taking a ride on the wild side. Jordan Lowe joins us from KA-POW! The Pop-Cultured Podcast. Check out more of his work at SoProComics.com. Oh, and stay tuned for Season 3 of Late Night Cage Fight. We have lots more movie madness coming your way!
Nicolas Cage hosts a foul-mouthed exposé of modern culture's filthiest swear words, their histories retold by guest comedians and academics. This show was so offensive, we've decided to offer this special Late Night Cage Fight Review in a G-Rated format for younger and/or sensitive listeners. We first react to IGN's Willy's Wonderland movie trailer before discussing what's ahead for Cage in 2021. But the real kicker is our slow realization that we are superheroes in a scripted sitcom out of the 1950s, and something just doesn't seem right in the Cageverse... (Yes, we're talking WandaVision too, so you'd better have a listen!)
Happy New Year, now let's rewind back to Christmas time! In this late-release Cageless episode, we talk about one of our favorite holiday movies ever: Jingle All the Way (1996) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sinbad and Anakin Skywalker. We mention what's ahead in Season 3 of Late Night Cage Fight with a whole lot more Cage just around the corner! Hasta la vista.

Find out why the upcoming Jiu Jitsu is your new guilty pleasure martial arts flick -- a movie that can't decide whether it belongs in an honorable dojo, or as eternal reruns on the Syfy Channel. We talk about our first impressions of the movie, Nic Cage's role as Wylie, the comic versus the movie, and we decide just what exactly is... a jiu jitsu. (Spoiler Warning at 33:00.) Jiu Jitsu will be released on November 20. We're talking WICKERED MEN: Nicolas Cage (2006) and Scottish Nicolas Cage (1973) -- two men who will combine inside a wickered effigy to rise again from the flames, reborn as Ghost Riders. We discuss both Wicker Man movies and a whole lot more in this super casual Halloween special. It's also the only place you'll find (un)official Wicker Man ASMR. Legal disclaimer: we take no responsibility for any curse that may spread to you while listening to this, but please wear a wicker mask. Trust us, we are neo-politicians.

In our second episode of Cageless, we again wander outside the Cageverse to slip into a mesmerizing folk horror fever dream from 2019 called Midsommar. Continuing the conversation from Ari Aster's previous film, Hereditary, we examine the various elements that make up this twisted Pagan cult movie and why we love it. Yes, we do mention similarities to The Wicker Man. Why the hell wasn't our beloved Nicolas in Midsommar dressed as a bear? Follow us on Facebook for details on our upcoming Season Finale and how to view it. Want more Cageless? Let us know what movies you'd like us to watch by leaving a comment on our page.
It's the last VERSUS episode before the CAGE FIGHT FINALE! The Cagefighters give you all your favorite Nic Cage updates, followed by a rundown of two COMEDIES for a change. In Honeymoon in Vegas, Nic Cage puts his almost wife Sarah Jessica Parker up as collateral in an obviously rigged poker game. When he loses, he realizes he won't be getting any sex in this city. In Amos & Andrew, underage girl chaser Nicky Amos Cage is given another chance at freedom when Samuel L'Andrew Jackson is mistaken for an ANTIFA home invader. While holding Jackson at gunpoint, Cage attempts to solve the problems of racism in this knee-slapper of a movie you will just cherish forever. (RIP Chadwick Boseman)
The first part of our new Special Series: Cageless! We're stepping outside the Cageverse to examine movies WITHOUT Nicolas Cage. Join us for an extensive discussion about Ari Aster and A24, behind the scenes, a full synopsis, our interpretations of the story, the legacy of Hereditary, and more. (After 14:00, all music and ambient noise produced by Cagefighter Reece.)

We're officially in the 90s now. The Cagefighters bring back a problematic and untimely Cage-tastic Italian war movie from the dead: "Time to Kill." Next, we examine David Lynch's attempts to tame Cage's wild heart when his character is on the run from Mama's bloodthirsty bounty hunters...in between long bouts of sex, heavy metal slam dancing, and Nic Cage singing! Listen to find out which movie will compete in our upcoming Cage Fight season finale!
The Cagefighters pit the next two comedies from the 80's against the other: Moonstruck (1987), an Italian-American romance Cagefighter Steve calls, “The Cher/Nicolas Cage cougar-bait film of the last millennium,” versus Vampire’s Kiss (1989) – one of Cage’s most batty and meme-ified roles. It’s also Nic Cage as a vampire hunter who is hunting himself because… he’s, well, a vampire, duh. Cagefighter Shawn discusses deleted scenes from The Color Out of Space and Reece delivers a sultry Nic List. Find out which Cage movie wins in the end! Our next two films will be Time to Kill and Wild at Heart. As an added bonus for our listeners, each instance of the word Cher in this episode has been auto tuned.

After a brief "catch-up-on-CAGE" (including marriage, divorce and a bizarre karaoke clip), the CAGEFIGHTERS dive HEADFIRST into the FINAL review of the season -- The Boy in Blue (1986), a ROCKY clone chronicling the career of Canadian sculler/rower/tribal scalper Ned Hanlan set in the late 1800s. We discuss how ST. NIC tackles this role with verve & alcoholism, uninspired rowing, clothing sex, and ultimately getting cage-fished. Finally, we discuss our expectations for the upcoming FIVE FILM FACE/OFF FINALE (or simply... Cage Fight). Which legendary movie do you think will enter our SEASON 1 CAGE of FAME? Let us know or go ahead and BUGGER OFF!
Welcome to our first CAGE DOUBLE FEATURE review, where we stumble through Francis Ford Coppola's forgettable jazz-gangster flick Cotton Club followed by a thorough review of the disturbing, furry-friendly Birdy. Actually, we never thought a movie would send us deep into a sordid discussion of human/animal sex, or of Nic Cage's fascination with grabbing boobies, but then we've never seen a movie quite like Birdy. Thankfully there are probably laws against this kind of thing now. Things go off the rails towards the end, but we decided to keep it all in. Don't forget to check out Steve's Princess Mononoke music video mentioned in the podcast. No furries were harmed in the making of this episode. Nicolas Cage chases women, trains, and abortion clinics in his third big screen appearance, "Racing with the Moon (1984)." Join us for an emotional discussion of this coming-of-age movie as we gush over Elizabeth McGovern as well as Nicky's lean physique and phenomenal tap-dancing skills. You'll discover why this fairly unknown Nicolas Cage gem may be a strong contender for our season finale's ultimate Cage-Match championship!
