Braga, King, and Ski talk Monster Hunter. Milla Jovovich and Tony Jaa star in a movie based on the video game series about ... hunting monsters. Ron Perlman looks like live action Beast and the cowardly lion and captains a pirate ship that floats on sand. Is it any good? Listen!

Kham travels to Sydney and discovers that his elephants have been taken by Madame Rose, a rising crime boss in the midst of consolidating her power. Chief amongst those cronies are Johnny, a vicious Vietnamese gangster, and Vincent, a corrupt Australian police inspector. Kham's skills as a Muay Thai warrior will be put to the test as he fights his way through legions of henchmen, assassins, and giant grapplers to reach Madame Rose and save his friends. We're back in the studio and the hits just keep coming with the international super sensation, Ong-Bak, featuring the Mauy Thai stylings of Tony Jaa! Written by Panna Rittikrai, Prachya Pinkaew, and Suphachai Sittiaumponpan (involved in all three ong baks and other Thai action movies. Directed by Prachya Pinkaew. Expend4bles is the epitome of milking an idea dry. It's lazy, visually a mess, and its narrative is almost completely nonsensical. Worse, like the third entry in the series, Expend4bles doesn't seem to grasp what made people interested in its concept in the first place. We lose even more of the action stars we all love and replace them with even less interesting people. Sure, this one returns the R rating, but the blood and carnage are swallowed by the horrific green screen and ludicrous plot. Its greatest offense, though, may be its complete waste of the talents of Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais. If you have two of Asia's great action stars in your movie, then back up and let them make magic. Sly Stallone, who created the franchise and has served as its main star, is so disinterested in the proceedings that he's barely in the movie; when he is, he mostly sits alone in random vehicles. Exend4bles is wholly deserving of its seven Razzie Nominations and complete implosion at the box office. And, yet, I still love it. Damn you, nostalgia! Now, sit back, toast to Barney's memory with a Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale from North Coast Brewing Co., and equip your prescription scope! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Bling Blake, and Capt. Cash are bashing some skulls with the classics at our local watering hole! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – They'll die when they're dead! (00:00) Lingering Questions – Which action star did the franchise sorely lack? (38:18) The "Lucky Ring" Trivia Challenge – I challenge the field to trivia about the movie. (56:24) Recommendations – We offer our picks for the week and next up: We retire Aging Action Star Flops with Half Past Dead, a title that ironically describes Steven Seagal's acting career at the time! “Kill any of these people! Is it possible for any of them to die?” - Steve on the titular Expendables On this week's episode, after we figure out how to pronounce the title, we're chatting about the fourth, and likely final, film in the franchise, Expend4bles! Is it time to wrap up the franchise when the casting ‘gets' keep getting smaller and smaller? Why can't Jason Statham and Tony Jaa get some buddy action film instead? Why did the film team rely on so much wretched CGI? And how are we rooting for Sly's character after he straight-up murders a (more or less) innocent man? PLUS: Larry the Cable joins the next Expendables line-up! Expend4bles stars Jason Statham, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa, Eko Uwais, Andy Garcia, Randy Couture, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, Lucy Newman-Williams, and Sylvester Stallone as Barney; directed by Scott Waugh. Those burly boys known as The Expendables are back almost a decade after their last outing in Expendables 3 (2014). We were definitely not going to cover Expend4bles, but then it scored a remarkably low 13% on Rotten Tomatoes, which made it essential viewing. The cast is getting downright geriatric, with a 77-year-old Sylvester Stallone, a 65-year-old Dolph Lundgren, and a 67-year-old Andy Garcia all trying to pull off some late-career stunts. Jason Statham does the heavy lifting in the action department, and he's lazily supported by Randy Couture, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, and Iko Uwais. This movie bombed hard for many reasons, which we will illuminate in this Hawt Take!
This week, we get down and dirty with Iko Uwais, Tony Jaa, Scott Adkins and a million other martial arts stars as we review Jesse V. Johnson's "B-movie Expendables." I talk about how you can come at this film from two different angles, Devan gives her opinion on who the best actor in the film is and Cyrus remains adamant about his very particular opinion of the movie. Later, we answer listener questions and I am forced to reveal what might be the most embarrassing thing I've ever said on the podcast. Enjoy!

Tony Jaa grew up on martial arts films, most of them from China, so he didn't know about wire work. He just thought those peeps were flying around like a bunch of crazy mofos. So in Thailand, he just started trying to learn how to do that shit all on his own. We have to say, he came pretty damn close. This guy is mental, jumping around and kneeing people in the damn chest and whatnot. Super fun movie.Hey, thanks for listening and, if you can, please subscribe! Did you ever wish Cocoon was more of an action movie? Well, get ready to be happy, because I give you Expendables 4 where they mix age with rage and have to be in traction with too much action! Sylvester Stallone returns as Barney Ross as does Jason Statham as Lee Christmas. It's been 9 years since the last Expendables movie. Did we need another one? You be the judge, but I give you my thoughts in this spoiler-free review. This time Megan Fox, 50 Cent, Levy Tran, Iko Uwais, Tony Jaa, Jacob Scipio and Andy Garcia join the party. When a city gang member decapitates the statue of a local deity, villager Ting (Tony Jaa) is sent to Bangkok to return the stolen head to it's rightful owners. That's pretty much it for plot but it's a classic action movie set-up with a distinctly Thai flavour; astonishing stunts achieved without the use of wires or computer imagery using the brutal Muay Thai style of fighting, all flying elbows and knees. Breath-taking from start to finish. We love to hear from our listeners! By which I mean we tolerate it. This week, Gavin and I are FINALLY tackling our first Bollywood picture, the 2016 action/martial arts epic- Baaghi. Starring the insanely talented Tiger Shroff, this film is an amalgamation of both Bollywood and Hong Kong cinema, giving us a modern day ‘gongfupian' in the least expected place. Switching out Chinese martial arts with the ancient Indian fighting art of Kalaripayattu, the rest of the movie borrows many classic elements of the traditional Kung Fu flick, while simultaneously paying homage and making references to international martial arts cinema from around the world. Finding inspiration from Jackie Chan, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, and even the Karate Kid, the film manages to put its own special touch on the genre through its blending of musical sequences, romantic comedy, and hard-hitting, bone-crushing action! This is thanks mostly to the out of this world abilities of lead Tiger Shroff, whose kicks must be seen to be believed! Listen in as we dissect this over-the-top action extravaganza, share what we liked about it, and why you should give it a chance! Don't forget to subscribe, download, and share with your friends! Thanks again for the continued support and we hope you enjoy!
