He talks about his journey to teach English in China and how that transformed his life. He came over adversities through the deep love his family had for him, and his early years of playing football. As someone who came late to play football, he had to overcome adversities and find emotional intelligence to help guide him as a male of color. He talks lovingly of his single mom who raised him along with his brother in a very busy neighborhood and gave him everything he needed. Chancellor K Jackson (1995) was born in Fulton County, Georgia, to Native American parents, grew up in Smyrna, Georgia, and attended Stetson University. For nine years he played football at the high school and collegiate levels. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Media Studies, Chancellor lived abroad in China from 2018-2019. Chancellor fell into writing after his traumatic experience of being arrested and detained in Beijing for 14 days.     Welcome to the Arabian Traveler Poetry produced and hosted by Mohammad Bader. This episode will be both in English and Arabic. I was asked to translate such poems for the Silverton Poets Society annual reading on a couple of occasions. Such poems were translated into several languages. My job was to translate them into Arabic. I'll be reading those poems first in English the original script then will read my translations.     My wife and I took a trip in 2023 from Sep 2, 2022, to Sep, 18th, 2022 to Portugal, Spain, and Morocco. Considering that we planned it only 70 days before departure, it exceeded our expectations. As the world was recovering from COVID-19, we were hesitating to travel. Her work takes her from her home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to isolated villages in Africa, small mountain communities in Haiti, and impoverished neighborhoods in the Dominican Republic. Elmo received his formal mindfulness training from the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Medical Center, Vanderbilt Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, Duke Center for Integrative Medicine, Google's Search Inside Yourself Leadership Development Program, and is a graduate of the Institute of Mindful Leadership. He is accredited as a Certified Mindfulness Teacher - Professional through the International Mindfulness Teachers Association (IMTA). He currently volunteers his spare time with Meals on Wheels in Washougal, WA. Elmo is the author of three (3) poetry collections, his latest release A Glorious Poetic Rage, Atmosphere Press, in 2021. He is currently completing his first Poetry Chapbook for release sometime in early 2023.
