Are we seeing the beginning phases of the "end of time" as encoded in the Great Cross Of Hendaye and hinted at by Fulcanelli in his "Mystery Of The Cathedrals"? How does this relate to secret societies and transhumanism? This is another very important broadcast, continuing to build upon the speculations presented in Part 1. In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul affirms both singleness and marriage as good options for Christians. But when he is asked about issues of separation and divorce, Paul applies the teaching of Jesus and the heart of God in a way that offers both grace and truth. There is hope for every marriage to stay together, there is hope for victims, and there is hope for life after divorce. The sermon today is titled "Body Matters." It is the twelfth installment in our series "City Lights: Bearing Witness To A Culture In Crisis." The Scripture reading is from 1 Corinthians 7:8-15 (ESV). Originally preached at the West Side Church of Christ (Searcy, AR) on November 17, 2024. All lessons fit under one of 5 broad categories: Begin, Discover, Grow, Learn, and Serve. We chat about loss, childhood, overlapping times, grief and the colonial residue of authentic relationships filled with love.We didn't always agree but that is the power of exhibitions: we shared diverging experiences, which made the episode even more compelling and at times hilarious. There a few hilarious anecdotes about 80's parenting - or lack thereof. For more information about the exhibition: https://camdenartcentre.org/whats-on/matthew-krishanu-the-bough-breaksMusic by Sarturn.

Matthew Krishanu (b.1980, Bradford, UK) paints atmospheric, pared-back compositions including scenes from the artist's life, particularly his childhood years in Bangladesh growing up with his brother, and their parents—a British Christian missionary and an Indian theologian. In the paintings, seemingly familiar narratives are alluded to but destabilised. The viewer's own projections are called upon to fulfil the interpretive loop, raising questions about childhood, religion, race, power, and the legacies of empire. The Bough Breaks is showing at Camden Art Centre until June 23. When the Bough Breaks is doing a LOT - we ended up identifying something in the range of 10 major ideas that this episode introduces and tackles to varying degrees of completion. We do our best but can't cover all of it; most of our analysis focuses on the idea of family, parental expectations of their children, the dangers of insinuating some races (species) don't care about their kids, and what it really means for a culture (or a people) to persist. ---To support and learn more about the LANDBACK movement to build lasting Indigenous sovereignty, go to: https://landback.org ---Our amazing intro and outro music was created by the supremely talented Trevor Andrew Hamer. The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – Thomas Jefferson penned those famous words in the Declaration of Independence: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal," he expounded an ideal we should all strive for. But what happens when people start sawing at those rights, the very bough we hung that cradle of liberty on?

There is no stronger bond than that of a parent and a child.  As parents, we want our children to do well; to become independent, successful and well-rounded human beings.  But, sometimes, our children do not become what we envisioned or what we hoped for.  We have heard stories when a parent discovered their child was responsible for a heinous, even unforgiveable crime and yet stood by them, supported them, even if the victim was another family member.  They are left heartbroken, angry and disappointed yet somehow, find it in them to forgive.  That is the love of a parent for their child.  But that is not the case in this episode.  As a matter of fact, Jon Eason wants his son Dylan to die for the murder of his wife Cynthia. The emotional hangover of the past couple of challenging years is real. This uplifting episode is all about radical self-care, motherhood, parenting, postpartum depression, faith, emotional reset, we cover it all! Our dear friend Tanya Newbould's first foundation is her faith and she lives in the spirit. She's an actress, an outspoken PPD advocate and survivor and a Life Transformation Strategist who founded Spiritually Inspired Coaching (www.tanya newbould.com). She helps women recover from the trauma and exhaustion of the past two challenging years and she travels across the country speaking out because she knows that by sharing her PPD survivor story and educating moms, she's saving lives.    Tanya shares, “We all come here to learn and grow; that is God's purpose for us. When something bad happens to us we automatically think,”Oh my God, I'm such a mess,' but your mess is your message."   Tanya found herself hysterically sobbing on the kitchen floor four months after the birth of her beautiful daughter which led to her to co-producing the award-winning documentary “When the Bough Breaks “ about the realities of PPD executive produced and narrated by actress Brooke Shields (Amazon Prime, iTunes). Tanya discusses the myths of PPD and how you can help support someone through their motherhood journey. "One in five women will experience postpartum depression after giving birth, which also affects the husband and the baby.” Tanya explains. “You will be okay. Your child will be okay. I want people to know that there's always help out there, and like the Bible says, this too will pass.”   Tanya is a safe place to share your story and seek support. One of Tanya's favorite life verses is Psalm 4:8 “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Tanya adds, “I want people to know that if they're feeling lost or afraid to turn to the Lord. God is with you.” Reach out to her if you are a new mother or if the pandemic has left you needing an emotional reset and you need help overcoming overwhelm or developing self-compassion. Tanya's ability to share knowledge and to let others know “you are truly not alone” is her passion. Tanya beams, “My goal is to help empower others to thrive, not just survive.”

Sylvia Ann Hewlett is a world-renowned author, economist, and entrepreneur. She is the Founder and CEO of Hewlett Consulting Partners, a boutique consultancy focused on helping organizations leverage talents and bridge the divides of culture, gender, and generation. Dr. Hewlett is also the Founder and Chair Emeritus of the Center for Talent Innovation (formerly Center for Work-Life Policy), a non-profit leader in diversity and talent management that promotes diversity, equality, and inclusion. She is an advocate for the sponsorship of highly qualified women, people of color, and LGBTQ employees attempting to gain traction in their careers. As a celebrated speaker, Dr. Hewlett has spoken at MWC Barcelona (formerly the Mobile World Congress), the “Women at the Top” conference, and the White House. She is the most published author in the Harvard Business Review with 17 articles and has written 16 books, including When the Bough Breaks, Forget a Mentor, Find a Sponsor, and #MeToo in the Corporate World. In this episode: What can be done in the workplace for people of color and women? How has the pandemic affected the ways and means by which women progress in their careers? To discover the key to navigating this new world of work, Thomas A. Stewart joins Sylvia Ann Hewlett — whose pioneering work on the importance of sponsorship and the effects of “on-ramps and off-ramps” on women's careers has impacted a new generation of women and work. Dr. Hewlett has long been an expert on the ways in which women's careers are interrupted or stymied. She is a Cambridge-educated economist and expert on gender in the workplace who has worked with leading organizations including Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Cartier, and the State Department. Throughout her career, Dr. Hewlett has focused on promoting progress for professionals despite their gender, age, sexual orientation, race, and culture in the office and beyond — and now she's focused her attention on the ways the pandemic has disrupted the female workforce. Over the past year and a half, women, especially women of color, have left their places of work to take on the role of primary caregiver. Dr. Hewlett has studied the data: when a highly qualified woman steps off the career ladder to care for her family, she decreases her compensation by 18% upon her return to work. Further, Dr. Hewlett explains that only 90% of women who leave the workforce eventually return. How can women come back to work in their respective fields without a decrease in status or compensation? Dr. Hewlett believes that the answer can be found in sponsorship: when a higher-level executive invests their political capital in a protegee's advancement. As she says, women can cultivate a more inclusive culture that promotes their advancement when advocating for one another. However, the value of a more flexible workplace comes at a cost, and remote and hybrid work structures have made sponsorship harder. As they continue to juggle home and work roles, women must take active steps to find and shape the sponsoring relationships so important to their career progression. In this episode of The Leading Edge, Thomas A. Stewart talks with Sylvia Ann Hewlett, world-renowned author, economist, entrepreneur, and Founder and CEO of Hewlett Consulting Partners, to discuss the disadvantages women experience in the workplace and how to overcome them. Dr. Hewlett talks about the displacement of women's roles in the workforce due to the pandemic, how to bring value to your business, and why sponsorship and advocacy are essential for building your career in the current climate.

Both the US and Canada would be shaken by the senseless murder of Andrew Bagby in 2001. We like to believe that cases with evidence as straight-forward and clear cut as this begin and end simply in the legal system with the necessary consequences delivered to the perpetrator. However, this case is one of the most convoluted and confusing, covered with injustice and senseless tragedy. It would remain in headlines for nearly a decade, sparking challenge and change for not only the lives involved, but also the legal system itself. It's a remarkable story of how we cannot control what happens to us, but we can choose to decide how it will shape us, finding a purpose for our pain and creating our own hope in the darkest hours.   Support the show & get bonus episodes on Patreon  _______________________________________  All music is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution.
