On this special episode of THE BIG 4-0, Ron and Peter look back at the first SEVEN films from one of our childhood action heroes, Steven Seagal. ABOVE THE LAW (1988), HARD TO KILL (1990), MARKED FOR DEATH (1990), OUT FOR JUSTICE (1991), UNDER SIEGE (1992), his directorial debut ON DEADLY GROUND (1994), and his only theatrical sequel and arguably the end of his run as a major box office draw, UNDER SIEGE 2: DARK TERRITORY (1995). That's a lot of films and a lot of ground to cover, so apologies if we didn't do each film or his entire career justice. There are a lot of interesting discussion points left on the table, many touched on, but not fully explored - such as a deeper dive into his past and wild background claims (CIA and/or mob ties?), excellent/interesting supporting cast members we mention but don't trace the arc of their careers as we normally would (Sharron Stone, Pam Grier, Kelly LeBrock, William Forsythe, Jerry Orbach, Tommy lee Jones, Gary Busy, Erika Eleniak, Michael Cain, John C. McGinley, Joan Chen, Billy Bob Thornton, Eric Bogosian, Evert McGill, Morris Chestnut, and Kathrine Heigel, among others), how he always uses a .45 pistol the way Riggs and McClane always use a Baretta, his badass Bronco in MARKED FOR DEATH, the fact that he looks great - damn near hunky - at 40, no less, in UNDER SIEGE, Bassil Poledouris' awesome ON DEADLY GROUND score, and Seagal's music career (two actually-not-bad blues albums!), post-theatrical-direct-to-DVD period, TV career (A&E's LAWMAN), his fashion, political beliefs, and his legal troubles, both as an accused sexual predator and a falling-out with his producing partner Julius Nasso, which led to a real-life Seagal/mob altercation - but as a focus on just these seven films, how they've aged, and where we each rank them in his filmography, it's an in-depth, fun, and revelatory episode. Please remember to Rate, Like, and Subscribe, and we'll be back in 1984 next time to burn down the house celebrating STOP MAKING SENSE and PARIS, TEXAS's BIG 4-0s!
Bob Hunt concludes his series on Revelation 13:16-18 “Marked for Death”. In this episode, after going into great detail in the previous sessions regarding the Mark, he examines the eternal consequences of taking the Mark. The key passage relating to this is Revelation 14:9-11. The Apostle John clearly describes the severity of this decision. Notably, our decisions on earth have eternal consequences. Bob then deals with the question “Is taking the Mark an irreversible decision or can someone undo this event?” He then takes us to Matthew 12:31-32 for a discussion on how this may or may not fit, or be related. Is the Mark an unforgiveable sin? There are many sins that will send us to hell for eternity if not forgiven. Revelation 20:15, Galatians 5:19-21 and 1Corinthians 6:9-11 all give us a list. However, especially stated in 1 Corinthians, they all can be forgiven. Next, the salvation of the Jewish people is discussed and its relationship to the Mark. Then, in conclusion, God's working in the Last Days is highlighted, especially His sending a strong delusion upon the world. Bob closes with his concluding remarks of this 3-Part series regarding the notion of "trying to undo" the taking of the Mark.
Bob Hunt gives a quick review of part one and then jumps right into a discussion of the difficulties Christians will have during the time when the 'Mark of the Beast' is foisted upon the world. Bob then discusses the statement that Pre-tribulation rapture brothers and sisters make saying, “We won't be here during all of these mandates.” Bob relates several verses from Revelation and offeres the conclusion that the Pre-Wrath rapture makes much more sense, even in this limited view. Bob then examines the Mark in light of the Name and the Number of the Beast, first with a detialed look at what it means to have the Name of the Beast. A parallel is found in Revelation 22:4, where believers are found to have Jesus' Name on their foreheads. It is interesting that all of us will have one name or another, but not both. Lastly, what is this Number of the Beast? Little is known or taught regarding this, but much speculation has been made. Is it a puzzle for us to figure out who this person is, or something else? What we do know is that it is the number of man. Man has reached the pinnacle of all that is evil and has, as a world, rejected God and worships the Beast and Satan himself. In conclusion, it will take much wisdom and understanding to survive these perilous times. The consequences are not merely severe: the consequences are eternal.

Bob Hunt, with Zion's Hope, begins a three part series from Revelation 13 focusing on the Mark of the Beast. The Beast of the Sea (Antichrist) and The Beast of the Earth (False Prophet) have risen to power and are dominating the world scene. A part of this rise is the use of various devices not only to secure this power, but achieve world-wide worship. The first device used was miracles, both by the Beast of the Sea and the Beast of the Earth. Many followed after them in worship. Next, the Beast of the Earth commands the building of an image and then orders all the earth to bow before it or die. Many again fall into worship. Lastly the Beast of the Earth mandates that all the earth be marked or face severe economic disaster. It is this mark that will be the focus of all three parts of this series. Bob discusses the purpose of the mark, which is to lead all the earth into worship of the Beast of the Sea. The use of miracles induced what appears to be a voluntary worship. The second threatened death to those who would not bow. Now the mark puts economic sanctions on those who still continue to hold out. Without the ability to buy or sell, a person would certainly die of starvation. The reason for the mark is to identify those who have succumbed to the system in obedience. A visible sign is anticipated. The consequences, as previously mentioned, is economic. The world of any surviving Christians at this point just got extremely difficult. The issue of survival will be on their minds, especially those who have families. Only the Holy Spirit will help guide believers through this most horrific time.

Chapter 35: The King's Son Marked For Death

For the first installment of the Agnes Varda series, THE FEMININE MYSTIQUE, me and Carter discuss the film, CLEO FROM 5 TO 7. We talk about the French New Wave movement and Auteur Theory, and how Agnes Varda was the godmother of the French New Wave despite rarely receiving credit for kickstarting a genre that would influence many prolific film directors years later. We also cover how often women are dismissed for having feelings other than happiness, the reality of dealing with death and failing health, the hyperfemininity presented in this film among a sea of male film directors, and why men hate Astrology and anything having to deal with another world.Support Me:linktr.ee/FromMyLipsPodCarter's Writings in Merry Go Round Magazine:https://merrygoroundmagazine.com/author/carter/

In September 2017, 65-year-old Dianna-Mah Jones and her 68-year-old husband, Richard Jones, would be found murdered in their safe and vibrant residential neighborhood in Vancouver, British Columbia. For weeks, authorities canvassed the area and examined clues left behind at the scene. The community held their breath for over a month until 27-year-old Rocky Rambo Wei Nam Kam was arrested, a man who had recently moved from Hong Kong with no previous record and a profile that police had never seen before. Slowly, the bigger picture would emerge, mapping out the horrors of that day. But Rocky would leave the missing pieces to be filled in by investigators. Spider-Girl grows up hard, goes arc-based, and the MC2 will never, ever be the same! After last episode's first-ever Spider-Girl only look at the MC2 where Nico and TK saw the best and worst of Spider-Girl's title, jump into the three best consecutive volumes of the MC2niverse yet. Allison Mongraine. Black Cat. Scarlet Spider. What do they all have in common? They're all in this arc, running in parallel stories, forcing the Spider-Girl title we've known to transform into her next form. Then the team takes a look at the only issue of Spider-Girl so far not to be written by Tom DeFalco, which does not receive highest marks, despite Nico's memories to the contrary from his youth in Spider-Girl volume 9. (0:00:00) Spider-Girl enters the Season Of The Serpent, a major six-part arc turning the world of Spider-Girl upside down and inside out – simultaneously changing the title to match the evolving comics medium while bringing back plots from literally 50 issues earlier (the second episode of MC2, XI4P 331). Seth presents the first truly compelling, difficult to defeat villain for Spider-Girl in sometime in volume 10. (1:02:00) Lastly, Spider-Girl continues her arc-based storytelling with Marked For Death, volume 11 of her solo title, bringing what must be a dozen storylines from her first 5 years to a conclusion, seemingly writing out no less than 3 major characters. With only one more Spider-Girl solo episode to go, the MC2 universe is in for some huge change. (1:44:00) All this and more from the new format of XI4P – we hope you survive the experience!
Join hosts Scott Murphy and Kyle Hintz as they continue their 90s Seagal journey with a plot breakdown of the 1990 movie "Marked for Death." In this one, Seagal single-handedly takes out the Jamaican Posse gang problem! What is that? Political incorrectness ahoy, you say! Well, you would be right, although this film is definitely 100% not racist. How do we know? Well, the movie regularly reassures it is very much not at regular intervals. Look, as Seagal enjoys reggae music and Keith David patronisingly accepts the Jamaican people. Heck, there is even a Jimmy Cliff cameo, so there! Elsewhere in the episode, Scott and Kyle celebrate Basil Wallace's excellent villain performance and Seagal's best on-screen buddy partnership (with the aforementioned David). They also try to work out what Joanna Pacula's character Leslie is actually a professor of, marvel at Seagal's ability to shoot with his eyes closed and mark out for the greatest villain death in any Seagal film (and one of the best in '90s action cinema to boot!). Our first official episode! We talk about Dragon Marked For Death...and Israel?? No idea why I thought that would be a good idea. Also, repetition and how it's Sometimes Good.
We played Dragon Marked for Death in our pilot episode, and talked about, uh, some things! Also tried to find an outro phrase, unsuccessfully.
