PLEASE LISTEN TO A CONFESSION (Part 1 of 2) FOR PART ONE OF THIS TWO-PART CASE. On March 24, 2011, Christopher Halliwell was arrested in connection with the suspected kidnapping of Sian O’Callaghan. Halliwell subsequently admitted to the murder, leading police to not only Sian’s body but the remains of another victim. After DNA testing police identified the woman to be Swindon native, Rebecca Godden-Edwards. During October 2012, Halliwell was sentenced to a minimum of 25 years for Sian’s murder, but a judge ruled that evidence gathered during the day of Halliwell's arrest was inadmissible. He couldn’t be charged for the killing of Rebecca Godden-Edwards — despite him leading police to her remains. But Why? (Part 2 of 2). In this episode I tell you the strange history of the drug LSD, from it's origins involving a deadly fungus that may have caused a bizarre dancing plague in 1518, all the way up until the CIA began experimenting with it in their top secret program known as Project MK-Ultra. Did the CIA really murder one of its own scientists? And how does the man's death tie into a bizarre outbreak of mass hallucinations in a tiny French village. She was laying on her side, with her ankles and wrists fastened behind her & had a nylon stocking tied tightly around her neck. The cause of death however, would be overdose. Almost immediately, news networks would be sharing details of a nearly decade-long horror story of a woman, hunted down and scared for her life. By the time Cindy James went missing, she had reported over 100 incidents of stalking, harassment and assaults from an unknown assailant. But by July 12th the RCMP would officially rule out any foul play leaving the public to wonder how could a person do something to themselves like that and why would they? The investigation of her death would lead to one the longest and most expensive inquests in British Columbia's history. It would be ruled inconclusive, with her family believing she was killed and the police believing it was an elaborately staged suicide. While the cause of her death would remain inconclusive, one thing remained certain: nobody agreed that ruling made any sense. And we're still left wondering, to this day: If it was impossible that she did this to herself, then who murdered Cindy James? On Tuesday, November 24, 2015, Michelle James and an acquaintance, were clearing out a communal garden in Beddau, Wales, after a neighbour, Leigh Sabine, had passed away. Before she had died, Leigh who was always talkative and very outgoing, had told her friend Michelle there was a medical skeleton in the garden and laughed suggesting it would be funny to scare one of their friends with it. This practical joke would lead to Michelle’s arrest, spur a murder investigation that would span the globe, and ultimately led back to a two pound stone frog that lived on Leigh’s bedside cabinet. *** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED AS THIS EPISODE CONTAINS ADULT THEMES AND DESCRIPTIONS THAT SOME LISTENERS MAY FIND DISTRESSING *** More information can be found on our website at http://theywalkamonguspodcast.com For early advert free access and other extras visit https://www.patreon.com/TheyWalkAmongUs MUSIC Remedy for Melancholy by Kai EngelLabyrinth by Sergey CheremisinovThere’s Probably No Time by Chris ZabriskieJohn Stockton Slow Drag by Chris Zabriskie All music sourced from http://freemusicarchive.org and used under an Attribution License - http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ You can follow us via our social media profiles: Twitter - https://twitter.com/TWAU_Podcast Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/theywalkamonguspodcast/ Facebook Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1346814312074979/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/theywalkamonguspodcast/ Acast - https://www.acast.com/theywalkamongus See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

It's September 2012. There is a nervous excitement in the building and everybody feels it, from the chefs, to the finance department, and certainly us teachers. 115 students arrive on this Monday afternoon from around the world, about 25 different countries, to start their new life at the European Film College. Most will live on campus like me. They will work harder than probably ever in their lives, make many ambitious films, take creative and personal risks, challenge their preconceptions, find out who they are outside of their own culture, away from their family and friends, as individuals. The 9 months that they are here will feel like a lifetime, but it will go incredibly quickly. Time warps, much like it does in the first year of parenthood. I know it feels like this because I did it too, 13 years earlier. It was the first day of the best and most creatively fulfilling year of my life, up until the day you were born. I feel incredibly privileged to be on the other side now, to be a part of the team that is invested in giving these students an experience like mine. It is a great responsibility, and one I have put above all else for the past three years. There is an emotional rhythm to the year, almost a narrative arc, and I understand it well now so I hate to be leaving the story before the end. If there was a way to see it through I would, but there really isn't. I will be the best teacher I can be until Christmas time and then hand everything over. I don't have time to think much about the future. All my energy goes to surviving the present. But there is great joy in the everyday. 20 weeks, time for the second scan. I'm so nervous and excited to see you again, to hear your heart beat again. It's November. Charlotte and I check in regularly as her due date approaches. I long to go home. In only a month, I will. And soon after that, you will arrive too. Not By Accident is made by me, Sophie Harper. Thanks to my family, my friends and my daughter for allowing me to record, and for the practical and moral support. And to all of you who have left amazing reviews and sent messages, you have brought me to tears multiple times. I am inspired. Please keep them coming!
