Toxicity In Human Behaviour Protect yourself by identifying toxic people early. A toxic person is anyone whose behavior adds negativity and upset to your life. Many times, people who are toxic are dealing with their own stresses and traumas. To do this, they act in ways that don't present them in the best light and usually upset others along the way. Some people seem to radiate positivity, while others leave us feeling emotionally drained and manipulated. Toxic people impact our mental and emotional well-being, leaving us exhausted and stressed. How do toxic people leave us feeling depleted and like a shell of our former selves? Learn what makes a person toxic and discover why and how they harm our well-being. It's important to remember that people are complex, and a person may exhibit some of these behaviors at certain times without necessarily being considered toxic. However, when these traits and behaviors are consistently present and have a detrimental impact on those around them, the individual may be considered toxic. Some examples of a toxic person; 1. Verbal abuse 2. Manipulation 3. Bullying 4. Gaslighting 5. Passive-aggressiveness 7. Discrimination and prejudice 8. Cyberbullying and online harassment If you liked these podcasts and got some value from it, hit "Like", "Subscribe" and leave a "Comment" in the comments section of where you are listing from. Controlling Your Own Life Your thoughts have a tremendous impact on your life. They shape your experiences and create your reality. The quality of your thoughts determines the quality of your life. While a person is not in control of other people's actions, they are in control of their own response. 2. It can be hugely beneficial to one's relationships to focus on one's own behavior, rather than the other person. 3. Much of people's suffering stems from attachment and wishing the external world was different, so it's best to reframe one's thinking. This podcasts talks about how our Life Is What Our Thoughts Make It and the 20 Ways To Controlling Your Own Life. Is Procrastination The Thief Of Time 'Procrastination is the thief of time'. It's perhaps one of the best-known proverbs in the English language, and as with most proverbs, the temptation is to ascribe it to that prolific author, ‘Anon.' But as with another favourite axiom, ‘better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all', ‘procrastination is the thief of time' appears to have a very decisive origin in the work of a particular writer. False Expectations Appearing Real (FEAR) is a working definition of most of our fears. We expect a false outcome, and we imagine it so vividly that it appears real in our mind – so real that even our body reacts as though it is happening right now1. FEAR is a fear of the future and is not happening now, and therefore has no real substance. FEAR's side effects include anger, anxiety, lack of confidence, hesitancy, and other emotions. How To Deal With All Of The Negativity One way to deal with negativity is to stay present with the negative feelings and practice watching them with a gentle, nonjudgmental attitude. Recognize when they are triggered by thoughts, and assess whether your emotions are responding to what you are thinking or what is actually happening. Recognizing that pain is often a catalyst for growth and resilience. We all know lots of short cuts. We often seek them to get us to our goals faster, with less effort or expense. Often, they're helpful, good things. On computers, these things can save time and energy. “Command+N” opens a new Safari tab on a Mac. Use “Control+C” instead of “copy” in Windows. And we all love short-cuts when we're driving. These are paths that, almost magically, are shorter than the path normally taken, by avoiding traffic, taking a back-route, or finding the most direct path without delays. But in business, there really are no short cuts. You just have to do the work. Period. In fact, when we try to cut corners or take a short cut, we often get burned – and end up needing more time, effort and energy to correct our mistakes and achieve our goals. How to Be Miserable: 5 Easy Steps Warning: The five-step guide is meant for humorous purposes only. 1. Find something slightly out of reach, or completely out of reach, and decide that you cannot be happy until you have it. 2. Worry about money. 3. Eat a lot of fast food. 4. Compare yourself to other people. 5. Ignore the good stuff. There you have it. I know you can do it. Of course, misery is not what all of us are going for. If, in fact, you are looking to decrease your misery -- and maybe even boost your joy -- try a healthy dose of the opposite of everything that was mentioned. The phrase ‘grey rock' is a metaphor for a way to deflect and/or defuse further abuse from a partner, a family member, or even a coworker. Simply put, it's when a person who is enduring abuse purposely acts as boring as possible during encounters with their abuser. “Using the grey rock method.” This phrase may sound entertaining or even funny, but the meaning behind grey rocking is anything but. For therapists who work with clients struggling in relationships with abusers or narcissists, this is one concept that has likely been the topic of many conversations and counseling sessions. So what is grey rocking, when should you use it, and when should you avoid it? Beginning though must not mean that you drop everything you do and get started with the new thing right away. This would be foolish — as it leads to “squirrel brain”, the seemingly random and rapid switching of priorities and tasks. Sadly, a rather common occurrence for startup founders — as there is always a new, shiny objective to conquer. Combining “shiny new objective” with “begin” easily leads to not getting anything done. Rather than simply “beginning”, I prefer to think about the best first step (and most of the following ones) towards my objective in the context of my overall objectives, and then do that. Every so often that literally means “drop the pen and get this done”, and often times it means “schedule time in the next few days to complete the first step”. The time certainly is right now to get things squared away. 1) Eliminate the Excuses 2) Choose to be different 3) Get Started — NOW! How to Get Motivated Every Day When You Wake Up Key facts Motivation is the drive to achieve your goals or needs. Motivation is important to break old habits and to develop healthy ones. Many people struggle with getting and staying motivated, especially if they have mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety. You may find it helpful to set specific, measurable goals that you can divide into small steps. Ask your family and friends to support you and help you stay motivated. - Motivation is the force, or lack of, that keeps driving you forward to overcome challenges and obstacles to achieve your goals. - Without motivation, you'll give up after a few failed attempts, or even on the first tough challenge that comes your way. - Motivation is a flow. If you can create a self-sustaining motivation engine, you'll be able to find more meaning in your life and enjoy every minute of what you're doing, which will make your roles and responsibilities less of a chore. - The true driving force behind your motivation flow, is the innermost core, your Purpose. Your purpose is what differentiates the motivated from the unmotivated, the achievers from the underachievers, the happy from the unhappy. - Reflect on what drives you. Are you doing what you truly care about? - When something doesn't feel right, take a moment and look for a different approach – tweaks to your current approach may both change your experience and open up new possibilities. - Always take small steps and recognize the positive progress made. This is how to keep yourself motivated in the long-term. - Don't forget to reward yourself!
