Pascale's candid sharing of her own struggles with shopping addiction creates a safe space for listeners to examine their own numbing behaviours, whether it's overworking, people-pleasing, or endless scrolling. Table of Contents Shopping for Enoughness: Understanding Addiction's True Nature The Role of Vulnerability in Healing Returning to Peace The Healing Power of Gratitude Conclusion Shopping for Enoughness: Understanding Addiction's True Nature Pascale reveals her personal struggle with shopping addiction in her 20s, buying clothes, shoes, and handbags every week. She explains how this behaviour was never really about the items themselves, but about filling a void and chasing the sense of being enough, worthy, and whole. She encourages listeners to look beneath the surface of their own addictive patterns, whether it's saying yes to everyone else, pouring themselves into work to avoid inner pain, or reaching for food, drink, or distractions when what they truly need is rest and connection. The core message is that addiction is never about the thing - it's about the search for enoughness and external validation when we should be tapping into our authentic internal power. The Role of Vulnerability in Healing Initially viewing vulnerability as weakness, Pascale shares her transformation in understanding vulnerability as the greatest liberator. She explains how addiction thrives in hiding, in keeping up appearances and pretending everything is fine. The breakthrough comes when we allow ourselves to feel - to cry, acknowledge our struggles, and ask for help. This vulnerability breaks the cycle and opens the door to peace, self-acceptance, and love. Every tear shed and moment of honesty becomes a step toward freedom, away from the chains of perfectionism and toward embracing our wholeness. Returning to Peace Pascale contrasts the anxiety, restlessness, and striving that addictions create with the inner stillness that comes from vulnerability. She emphasises that peace doesn't come from external sources - not from one more purchase, achievement, or distraction - but from within. This inner peace comes from sitting quietly with ourselves and remembering our inherent wholeness: "I am whole. I am loved and I am free." The Healing Power of Gratitude Gratitude serves as the final piece of the healing puzzle, shifting focus from what we lack to the fullness of what we already have. When we live in gratitude, the compulsive need to fill voids with addictive behaviours softens. We no longer need to chase "more" because we recognise that what we have and who we are is already enough. Pascale invites listeners to pause, breathe, and reflect on what they're grateful for in the present moment, allowing gratitude to remind them of their wholeness, freedom, and peace. Conclusion The episode concludes with Pascale's gentle reminder that while addiction may manifest differently for each person, the path back to peace remains consistent: through vulnerability, honesty, and gratitude. She challenges listeners to ask themselves, "Where am I numbing myself, and how can I instead choose honesty, peace and gratitude?" The overarching message is one of hope and self-compassion - that we are already enough, and freedom comes from acknowledging our patterns and choosing a different path rooted in authenticity and gratitude. ----------------------- FULL TRANSCRIPT ----------------------- Hello beautiful souls, Welcome back to The Everyday Life Balance Show. I'm Pascale Gibon, and I'm so grateful you're here. Today, I want to speak about something real – addiction. We all have one, whether it's shopping, overworking, chocolate, people-pleasing, or endlessly scrolling on our phones. At its root, addiction is often not about the thing itself. It's about what lies beneath it - the longing to feel enough, safe and soothed. Over the summer, I took some much-needed time to pause and reflect. That space helps me gain clarity on what matters the most. Freedom begins with acknowledging the ways we numb ourselves and bravely choosing another path. Here is my story of addiction, and how I overcame it through vulnerability and gratitude. Shopping For Enoughness In my 20s, I was what you might call a shopaholic. I was buying clothes, shoes and handbags every week. Shopping became my way of filling the void, chasing the next outfit, the next thrill. Some of you might relate to this. But what I was seeking wasn't in the bag I carried home – it was the sense of being enough, worthy and whole. Perhaps your 'shopping' looks different. Maybe it's saying yes to everyone else and leaving yourself last. Possibly it's pouring yourself into work so you don't have to feel the ache inside. Maybe it's reaching for food, drink, or distraction when what you truly need is rest and connection. When we pause long enough to look beneath the surface, we see that addiction is never about the thing – it's about the search for enoughness. Should you have addiction, whatever it is: ask yourself whether you seek external validation for your 'enoughness' and miss out on your authentic 'enoughness', your internal power, where lie all the answers you seek. Never dismiss your inner power and truth. The Role of Vulnerability In Healing I used to have an adverse relationship with vulnerability. It was never my friend because I believed it was a sign of weakness. I now think the opposite: showing vulnerability is the greatest liberator, for without it, there's no healing, transformation, or progress. Here's where the power of vulnerability comes in. Addiction thrives in hiding – in keeping up appearances, in pretending we are fine when we are not. However, when we allow ourselves to feel – to cry, to acknowledge our struggles, and to ask for help – we break the cycle. Vulnerability isn't a weakness; it's a strength that sets us free. It opens the door to peace, self-acceptance and love. Every tear shed, every moment of honesty, is a step away from chains of perfectionism and towards the wide-open space of freedom. This is emancipation: releasing the need to pretend and embracing the wholeness of who we are. For further help on the topic of vulnerability, I invite you to listen to episode 295 of the Everyday Life Balance show, entitled: "Embracing Vulnerability Setting Yourself Free." Unveiling our protective armour allows us to unleash our authentic selves. Returning To Peace Addictions stir up anxiety, restlessness, and striving. But when we step into vulnerability, we also step back into peace – the inner stillness that tells us we are already enough. Peace doesn't come from one more purchase, one more achievement, or one more distraction. It comes from within, from sitting quietly with ourselves and remembering: I am whole. I am loved and I am free. The Healing Power Of Gratitude Gratitude is the final piece of the puzzle. It shifts our focus away from a lack of something and into fullness. When we live in gratitude, the need to fill a void with addiction softens. We no longer need to chase 'more' because we see that what we have – and who we are – is already enough. Gratitude is a powerful tool that can transform our perspective and bring hope and optimism into our lives. So, today I invite you to pause. Breathe. Reflect on what you are grateful for in this moment. Let that gratitude remind you of your wholeness, freedom and peace. Thank you, beautiful soul, for sharing this sacred space with me. Addiction may manifest differently for each of us, but the path back to peace remains the same – through vulnerability, honesty, and gratitude. As you step into this week, I encourage you to ask yourself: Where am I numbing myself, and how can I instead choose honesty, peace and gratitude? Until next time, I'm sending you love, light and the gentle reminder that you are already enough. Stay blessed, free and peaceful.
A "Stressless”, "Fearless” life - Eliminating all fear and stress from life ain't gonna happen, BUT it is definitely possible to reduce the amounts of both...to "stress less", and "fear less". This week, I'm giving you the 5 keys to do just that… Purpose What is your overall mission in life? What is the reason you're driven to get out of bed each day? If you don't know your purpose, that's okay. It will evolve and change over time, but defining a reason is important. Pick one. I believe our mission is to become the person God made us to be. Yours may of course be different, but will likely be some version of being the best you can - physically, spiritually, and financially. Gratitude Gratitude is a weapon! When you consciously acknowledge the things you're grateful for, you can overpower stress and fear. Gratitude is an incredibly powerful emotion and it's important to know the things you're grateful for so you can wield this weapon at will. Talk to Yourself More Than You Listen to YourselfOur thoughts can drift into territory that brings us down and can quickly spiral into catastrophic thinking if left unchecked. Be conscious of the thoughts you think…don't let them run on autopilot. Become the programmer - Don't run the program written by others. Growth and ContributionIn nature, you're either growing or dying…there's no middle ground. It is important to continue to grow as a human being and maintain a mindset (like the one described by Carol Dweck in the book, Mindset) that is conducive to that growth. According to Tony Robbins (and now accepted by many trained psychologists as truth), there are 6 basic needs that all humans must fulfil: Certainty: assurance you can avoid pain and gain pleasure Uncertainty/Variety: the need for the unknown, change, new stimuli Significance: feeling unique, important, special or needed Connection/Love: a strong feeling of closeness or union with someone or something Growth: an expansion of capacity, capability or understanding Contribution: a sense of service and focus on helping, giving to and supporting others The Combined Fulfilment of the Need for Connection and LoveWhy these two? The needs that Tony laid out are “basic necessities”...one is no more important than the other, BUT I believe focusing on these two as your “go to” needs, will give you the most satisfaction, reward, and positivity. Gratitude's Ripple Effect, Part 4NOTES
1 Thessalonians 5:14-18 (CSB)14 And we exhort you, brothers and sisters: warn those who are idle, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 See to it that no one repays evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray constantly, 18 give thanks in everything; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Unpacking 3-Princples Concerning An Attitude of Gratitude: Gratitude is always to be expressed “Rejoice always” (vs. 16a) commands that we are to have an ongoing attitude of gratitude.“Pray without constantly” (vs. 16b) suggests a mental attitude of prayerfulness, continual personal fellowship with God, and consciousness of being in His presence throughout each day. “Give thanks” (vs. 18) affirms that followers of Jesus are to be marked by thanksgiving.A grateful person will be a happier person.A grateful person will be a healthier person. NOTE #1: Gratitude is not an option; it is an obligation. Having an attitude of gratitude is never tied to what we have or who we are, it is a result of who God is and what He has done for us. Gratitude should never be limited Paul says to give thanks ''in everything” (vs. 18) (not in most things or in good things.) Thanksgiving has nothing to do with feelings. We are not commanded to ''feel grateful.'' NOTE #2: Paul had been beaten, whipped, imprisoned, shipwrecked, stoned, and left for dead. Yet he said, ''give thanks in everything'' A Practical Outlook on Gratitude:Be grateful for the blessings of life- God's greatest blessings are oftentimes found in the smallest things. Be grateful for the burdens of life - 2 Corinthians 4:15-16 says, “Indeed, everything is for your benefit so that, as grace extends through more and more people, it may cause thanksgiving to increase to the glory of God.16 Therefore we do not give up. Even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day.” Be grateful for the benefits of life - Psalm 103:2 says, “My soul, bless the Lord, and do not forget all his benefits.” NOTE #3: We should be grateful for the blessings, burdens, AND the benefits! Gratitude is what's expected of us. (vs. 8) “Give thanks in everything; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”Gratitude is a real test of our character. Why An Attitude of Gratitude is Important:It will shield us from cynicism (suspicion/doubt). It will protect us from pessimism (negativity). It will draw us closer to God, and it will draw God closer to us! 1 Timothy 4:4-5 (CSB)4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 since it is sanctified by the word of God and by prayer. An Attitude of Gratitude says:In the happy moments…I will Praise GodIn the difficult moments…I will Seek GodIn the quiet moments…I will Worship GodIn every moment…I will Thank God

Today we'll explore a passage from the Gospel of Luke that illuminates the essence of gratitude.Episode Notes:In the vast landscape of virtues outlined in the New Testament, gratitude stands out as a rare yet essential quality. While not explicitly listed among the fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5, gratitude permeates the teachings of Jesus, exemplifying the heart of a transformed life. Our focus today is on a story from Luke chapter 17, where Jesus encounters ten lepers while journeying toward Jerusalem. This poignant narrative unfolds in three distinct phases, each revealing profound insights into the nature of gratitude.1. The Encounter with Ten Lepers:As Jesus travels along the border of Samaria and Galilee, he encounters ten men afflicted with leprosy. Despite their societal ostracization, these outcasts approach Jesus with a desperate plea for mercy. Their collective cry echoes with longing for healing and restoration.2. The Response of Gratitude:In a miraculous display of compassion, Jesus instructs the lepers to present themselves to the priests for certification of their healing. As they obey his command, faith intertwines with divine intervention, and they experience restoration on their journey. Yet, amidst the joy of newfound health, only one returns to express gratitude to the source of his healing.3. A Reflection on Ingratitude:Jesus, astutely aware of the rarity of gratitude, poses a probing question: "Where are the other nine?" The Samaritan, an unexpected beneficiary of grace, becomes a poignant symbol of heartfelt thankfulness amidst a backdrop of indifference. His act of returning to give thanks not only sets him apart but also reveals the pervasive nature of ingratitude.Key Takeaways:The Essence of Gratitude: Gratitude emerges as a cornerstone virtue, transcending cultural boundaries and societal norms. It embodies a deep recognition of blessings received and a humble acknowledgment of the giver.A Matter of the Heart: Gratitude transcends mere verbal expressions; it emanates from the depths of the heart. It reflects an attitude of humility, contentment, and appreciation for the gifts of life. The Call to Gratitude: As recipients of God's abundant grace, believers are called to cultivate a spirit of gratitude in every aspect of life. Gratitude redirects our focus from scarcity to abundance, from self-centeredness to generosity. In essence, gratitude is not merely a courteous response but a transformative posture that shapes our perspective and enriches our relationships. Through the lens of gratitude, we learn to embrace life's joys and navigate its challenges with resilience and grace. Conclusion:This passage invites us to explore the significance of gratitude in the life of a believer. Through the lens of Jesus's encounter with the ten lepers, we uncover timeless truths about the essence of gratitude, its transformative power, and its pervasive rarity. As we navigate the complexities of life, may we cultivate a spirit of gratitude that transcends circumstances and illuminates the pathSupport the showMy Amazon Author Pageamazon.com/author/jeremymccandlessJeremy McCandless is creating podcasts and devotional resources | PatreonHelp us continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

HelloWelcome to Life Points with Ronda, the podcast that helps you navigate life's challenges with practical wisdom and actionable advice. where we discuss important topics that affect our everyday lives. Today, I'm speaking to the collective and our topic for today is: Planting the Seeds of Gratitude and Reaping the Benefits of the HarvestIntroduction:Welcome to another insightful discussion on "Life Points with Ronda," your go-to relationship podcast aimed at nurturing and fostering healthy connections. In today's episode, we delve into the transformative power of gratitude and its profound impact on relationships. We'll explore how cultivating an attitude of gratitude can plant seeds of positivity, foster deeper connections, and ultimately allow us to reap a bountiful harvest of love and fulfillment. So let's dive in!1. Understanding the Essence of Gratitude:Gratitude is more than just saying "thank you" or appreciating the good things in our lives. It is a mindset, a way of life that involves acknowledging and expressing appreciation for both the big and small blessings we encounter. By shifting our focus to what we have instead of what we lack, we cultivate a mindset that fosters contentment and satisfaction in our relationships.2. Nurturing Relationships Through Gratitude:Gratitude has the power to transform relationships by enhancing emotional well-being, fostering empathy, and strengthening connections. When we express gratitude towards our partners, family, and friends, we create a positive feedback loop that encourages them to reciprocate in kind. This mutual appreciation builds a foundation of trust, intimacy, and support, enabling relationships to thrive.3. Expressing Gratitude in Everyday Moments:While special occasions and grand gestures are wonderful opportunities to express gratitude, it's equally important to embrace the beauty of everyday moments. Take the time to show appreciation for the small acts of kindness, thoughtfulness, and support that your loved ones extend to you. Simple gestures like a heartfelt "thank you" note, a warm hug, or a spontaneous act of kindness can go a long way in strengthening the fabric of your relationships.4. Cultivating Gratitude as a Habit:Gratitude is a learned behavior that can be nurtured and cultivated over time. Incorporate gratitude practices into your daily routine to make it a habit. Consider keeping a gratitude journal, where you reflect on three things you're grateful for each day. This practice helps shift your focus towards the positive aspects of your relationships and encourages a mindset of abundance.5. Gratitude During Challenging Times:Life is not always smooth sailing, and relationships inevitably face challenges. However, even during difficult periods, gratitude can be a guiding light. By acknowledging the lessons learned from adversity and appreciating the strength and resilience of your partner and yourself, you can navigate through challenging times with a sense of gratitude and hope.6. The Ripple Effect of Gratitude:Gratitude has a ripple effect that extends beyond the immediate relationship. When we embody an attitude of gratitude, we inspire those around us to do the same. By fostering a culture of appreciation and gratitude in our communities, we create a positive and uplifting environment that benefits everyone involved. Conclusion:Support the showhttps://chat.openai.com/g/g-8E47AuJfB-life-points-assistanthttps://FaceBook.com/Lifepointswithronda1https://youtube.com/@lifepointswithronda2968https://TikTok.com/@lifepointswithrondahttps://Instagram.com/@lifepointswithrondahttps://Patreon.com/@lifepointswithrondahttps://Lifepointswithronda.com

Welcome back, friends! I hope all my American listeners enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving. I wanted to do a special solo "Coach's Corner" episode today focusing on gratitude and how it impacts our health as we age. I've actually covered gratitude in a few past episodes that are worth mentioning again: - Back in March 2021, I interviewed Debbie Waynez and we talked about how intentional gratitude helped her journey from profound grief to absolute joy. That episode is titled "Journey From Heartbreak to Joy." https://silveredgefitness.com/episode44/ - And just last month, I had an enlightening chat with Dr. Greg Hamer about finding peace and purpose through gratitude even during chaotic times. That episode was called "Finding Peace in Purpose Through Gratitude."https://silveredgefitness.com/242-2/ So gratitude is a recurring theme on this podcast because I firmly believe embracing gratitude is truly life changing. Let's explore why it's so critical to our health and how we can make it a daily practice. The Transformative Power of Gratitude - Gratitude goes far beyond just saying thanks - it's a state of appreciation and noticing the blessings we do have. - Research shows grateful people suffer less aches and pains, report better health, tend to sleep better at night, and have decreased feelings of anxiety, frustration and envy. - Gratitude helps us better weather life's inevitable ups and downs with resilience, self-worth and deep spiritual connectivity. 3 Ways to Build a Gratitude Practice 1. Keep a Gratitude Journal - Take a few minutes each day to write down a short list of things you're grateful for. The key is consistency with this exercise. - Try the 30 Day Challenge where you write down 3 new things you're grateful for every single day. It gets harder as the days go on, which builds your awareness. 2. Incorporate Gratitude Meditation/Prayer - No need for structured meditation - take brief moments during your day to pause and appreciate things around you. - Prayer works too! Personally I start and end each day with short gratitude prayers which grounds me and helps me sleep. 3. Express Gratitude to Others - Tell people in your life what they mean to you. Write thank you notes. Verbal appreciation strengthens relationships. - There are also great gratitude apps available with prompts and reminders. And leverage technology to build community around gratitude. Remember it takes consistency and you will have ups and downs. But pick one or two gratitude practices that work for you and give them an honest try. I promise you will start to notice positive changes! Gratitude transforms lives in profound ways. I hope you'll join me on this journey toward better health and deeper fulfillment. We have so much to be thankful for, my friends. I appreciate YOU for listening! Let's practice the spirit of Thanksgiving all year round. Stay grateful out there!Want to rewrite the narrative of your life and health? I recently had the privilege of hosting an episode of my podcast, Living The Sweet Life, all about gratitude and thankfulness for Thanksgiving. In this episode, I shared practical ways to infuse gratitude into your holiday celebrations and how it can transform your mindset. Here are 3 key takeaways from the episode: 1️⃣ Embrace the True Meaning of Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving is not just about the perfect meal or the stress of getting everything right. It's about being grateful for the people in our lives and cherishing the time we have with them. Shift your focus from perfection to presence and create meaningful memories with your loved ones. 2️⃣ Engage in the Alchemy of Gratitude: Gratitude has the power to transform ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. By cultivating a daily practice of gratitude, you can experience joy, fulfillment, and resilience. Let the practice of gratitude be a catalyst for positive change in your life and inspire others around you. 3️⃣ Create a Ripple Effect of Gratitude: Expressing gratitude not only transforms your own life but also has a ripple effect on those around you. Share your gratitude authentically and specifically with others, uplift their spirits, and inspire them to express their own gratitude. Together, we can create a culture of appreciation and love. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tj-sweet/support

Welcome to a special episode of "Inspire Us," where we dive deep into crucial topics for our ever-changing world. While I might not have 20 years of podcasting experience, my extensive background in negotiation, conflict resolution, and self-sabotage certainly adds a unique twist to this discussion. **Episode Title: "Nurturing Resilience in Turbulent Times"** In these trying times of global conflict and financial uncertainty, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. The ongoing struggles in regions like Israel, Ukraine, and the rising costs of living remind us of the fragile nature of our world. But the key to navigating these challenges lies in understanding the power of self-care, focusing on the controllables, and embracing the gratitude mindset. **Why Self-Care Matters** 1. **Control What You Can**: In situations beyond our control, it's essential to focus on what we can change - ourselves. Self-care isn't selfish; it's self-preservation. By prioritizing our physical and emotional well-being, we build a strong foundation to face external challenges. 2. **The Power of Gratitude**: Gratitude is a potent tool for transforming our mindset. Amidst chaos, it reminds us of the things we have instead of what we lack. By counting our blessings, we cultivate a more positive outlook on life. 3. **Resilience Through Self-Care**: The ability to bounce back from adversity is a hallmark of resilience. Self-care, including exercise, meditation, and nurturing personal relationships, provides the strength and mental clarity needed to persevere. **Key Takeaways:** - Embrace self-care as an act of self-preservation, not selfishness. - Cultivate gratitude by focusing on the abundance in your life. - Understand that resilience is built through self-care practices. In uncertain times, remember that you hold the power to shape your response to life's challenges. Join me in this special episode as we explore the profound impact of self-care, gratitude, and resilience. What are your thoughts on the importance of self-care, Paul? Your experience in negotiation and conflict resolution surely adds a unique perspective to this crucial topic.
