His childhood, which took place between Oregon and California, and later Tennessee and North Carolina, were surrounded by art, music, writing, and the adventures of rural living. At the age of 7, he began playing violin and singing in choirs, subsequently being recruited for several performance opportunities including a long run of the opera Tosca and the Northwest Children's Honor Choir. His love of music and performance blossomed with the later move to the American south. His mother, a country and folk songwriter, hoped that proximity to Nashville would be beneficial to her musical career. She recorded several albums, giving Ryan his first taste of being “in the studio”. For Ryan, there are too many influences and inspirations to list all of them in one place, but his background in the performing and visual arts began to take form during his high school years, when he put down the violin and picked up guitar. He immersed himself in a plethora of musical styles and genres. He spun old classic rock vinyls he found in record store bargain bins. He kept a constant flow of music going for most of his waking hours, devouring everything from Neil Young to Radiohead, Mos Def to Deftones, Beethoven to RL Burnside. He was greatly influenced by the Seattle grunge sound, modeling much of his first song writing attempts after bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Nirvana. Most of what he wrote at first wasn't very good, but over time he began to shape and define his own voice. He continued absorbing artists like Tori Amos, Tom Waits, Whiskeytown, Thelonious Monk, Richard Buckner, Bjork, Massive Attack, Cat Stevens, and CSNY. He holds a degree in Film and Media Studies from Arizona State University, and began putting his film knowledge to use in 2013 when he wrote, directed, and filmed a music video for the song "Margaret" from his album More Than Strangers. Since then, he has written, directed, and/or filmed several more music videos to accompany songs from his various albums. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thelongislandsoundpodcast/message

I Am (I'm Me)". Las canciones de Twisted Sister "Under the Blade" y "We're Not Gonna Take It" fueron mencionadas específicamente en las convocatorias del Senado. A.J. En 2001, Koch Records lanzó un álbum tributo titulado "Twisted Forever|Twisted Forever - A Tribute To The Legendary Twisted Sister". Of Filth, Joan Jett, Sebastian Bach, and Hammerfall.

Quotes: 09:04 “As an artist, whatever you're creating, your influences show up in one-way shape or form.” 19:47 “A simple love song but I kind of went beyond just the initial feelings of love. When you first fall in love and the stars and everything in your hearts. I really feel that love is a commitment. There may be days where you don't feel like loving your spouse or your kids but you're committed to them so you love them all the same. That feeling is going to pass, you'll makeup and everything will be fine but it's about that “You can always depend on me, I'm going to be your castle on the rock, immovable, unshakable. I'm here for you, I love you, and I always will.” 42:34 “I'm thankful we have a nice big backyard that goes about 100 yards deep and there's a pond and you know, a nice wooded area, we have a fire pit in the back. Nothing better than to just spend an evening by the fire, family and friends, and just chilling. My wife and I love to just relax and watch movies or documentaries and stuff on Netflix or Amazon just to kind of wind down. Of course, I love being with my family. We love to travel, haven't traveled for a good long time, but we love to travel and just discover new things and stuff. So we're pretty low-key.” 50:58 ”I think what comes to mind is just be yourself. Be authentic. I don't think we need any more copycats. I think that the artists that get the most respect over time are those that are the most original... I think the music industry is really hungry for more artists and bands like that. So I would really encourage you to be that person to make that bold step and put out something like that.” Timestamps:  00:44     Introducing Radio Drive's Kevin Gullickson 02:25     The new release of Radio Drive's album 03:17     A backstory of how James got connected to Stuart Epps through Kevin.    07:33     What was his impetus on the new album? 10:41     Kevin shares about Minnesota and the city he is near. 13:15     Listen to “It's  Who I Am” by Radio Drive 19:07     What is “It's Who I Am” about? 20:35     How was “It's Who I Am” built and played out? 23:58     Kevin about using AirGigs. 25:14     How does Kevin put all the tracks together? 26:54     The tools that Kevin uses and likes working in. 29:58     Kevin shares about his awards and how they started out. 32:08     The level of work that Kevin has to put in to keep things going 33:54     Listen to “Let My Love Be The Proof” by Radio Drive 39:05     The bright spots and challenges of doing promotional avenues that he does. 42:15     What does Kevin like to do to chill out? 43:19     Kevin's favorite place for gigs. 44:39     Artists, genre, and the types of music that Kevin likes to listen to. 47:39     What are Kevin's aspirations and what is he looking forward towards in 2022? 49:43     The best place to connect with Kevin Gullickson. 50:25     Kevin's shoutout and last words of wisdom especially to the youngsters and upcoming musicians 52:55     Listen to “Ride On” by James Kevin O'Connor Spotify Playlist:  Check out our three Spotify playlists and be amazed by the great artists that we've already had as guests for dHarmic Evolution. Stuart Epps is Elton John royalty! He was a huge part of the team that worked together to bring Elton out from the sidelines of Tin Pan Alley, into megastardom. He saw that process first hand, working in a variety of different roles. Here he tells his story. Stuart's brand new audiobook can be ordered from his website.  The rarity that I play in the episode is the Steve Brown produced version of 'Take Me To The Pilot' from Olympic Studios, recorded in something like August / September 1969.

So, what does a man do after 20 years in corporate America? In Douglas Coleman's case, he continues to pursue the musical dream he has carried since his youth. Coleman set out to have a career in music in the early 1980's, but became frustrated and opted for the corporate world. Though his musical temperament and the business world were at odds, Coleman stayed his vocational course for over twenty years before surrendering to his muse, leaving his job and the USA for Thailand where he set up a studio and is chasing his musical dream. In Thailand, he found his small farming village to be an environment conducive to song writing and creativity in general.  Working with legendary London, UK producer Stuart Epps, Coleman has produced several captivating tracks that are catching the attention of industry professionals.       Douglas Coleman is a radio talk show host, musician and composer originally from Boston, MA now living In Las Vegas. During his early days, he studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC and was performing as a singer and piano player at various small venues around the big apple.  After several years of playing the “starving artist,” Douglas returned to Boston and joined the corporate world for 20 years vowing that one day he would return to his creative roots. Currently he is hosting and producing a weekly radio show called “The Douglas Coleman Show” The show is produced by his company DJC Productions which has produced several other radio shows.
