In the middle of all the Easter celebration, it's easy to focus on what Jesus did and forget that He's still doing something right now: He's inviting us closer. In this episode, we walk through four personal, powerful invitations from Jesus—rooted in Scripture and still open to us today: Come and see (John 1:38–39) Come and rest (Matthew 11:28–30) Come and be forgiven (Luke 23:42–43) Come and live (John 20:14–16) Whether you feel distant from God, tired from the weight you're carrying, or in need of fresh hope—this conversation will remind you that He still calls you by name, and His invitation hasn't changed. Joy isn't just a fleeting emotion—it's something we can choose, something we can see differently, and ultimately, a beautiful gift from God. In today's episode, we're talking about how to truly live in joy—how to choose it daily, shift our perspective to see it more clearly, and embrace it as the gift that it is. No matter what season you're in, joy is available to you right now! Key Topics: ✨ Joy is a choice – We can choose to rejoice even when life isn't perfect (Philippians 4:4). ✨ Joy is a perspective – Shifting our focus from our struggles to God's faithfulness changes everything (Habakkuk 3:17-18). ✨ Joy is a gift – Jesus desires for us to live with complete joy (John 15:11). Scriptures Mentioned:
Key Bible References: Luke 10:41-42 — “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.” Matthew 6:33 — “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Mark 1:35 — “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.” James 4:8 — “Come near to God and He will come near to you.” Daniel 6 — Daniel's commitment to prayer and faithfulness despite the decree against praying to anyone but the king. Practical Tips Recap: Start Small but Stay Consistent. Combine God Time with Your Routine. Set Boundaries on Distractions. Involve Your Family. Plan Ahead. Key Takeaways: Prioritizing time with God impacts every area of life, bringing peace, clarity, and strength. Even in busy or difficult seasons, consistency in prayer and time with God—like Daniel—can deepen your faith and serve as a testimony to others. Time with God isn't about perfection but connection. His grace meets you where you are. Challenge of the Week: Identify one way to prioritize time with God, such as waking up 10 minutes earlier, praying during your commute, or reading a short Scripture passage daily. This week, we explore a challenging yet rewarding aspect of marriage: submission and how it is deeply tied to trusting God. We take a look at what biblical submission really means—not as a loss of independence, but as an act of faith and trust in God's design. Submission is about honoring God's plan for marriage and fostering a relationship built on mutual love and respect. In this episode, I offer three practical steps to help Christian women on this journey: Pray – Seek God's wisdom and strength as you grow in love and grace. Communicate with Respect – Honest, respectful communication is key to building a healthy, God-centered marriage. Be Patient – Trust that God is working in both your heart and your marriage, and give yourself grace in the process. I hope these steps help you see submission in a new light, as part of a deeper trust in God and a stronger marriage. Email: worthypursuit@yahoo.com Follow me on Facebook or Instagram @amydspear
Hey friends! Welcome back to Worthy Pursuit Podcast! I'm Amy, and today's episode is all about a funny and eye-opening experience I had with my dogs and their harnesses.
Have you ever found it challenging to view your trials as something to rejoice over? Do you find yourself struggling to praise God during difficult times? I can relate. Personally, my instinct is to rush through life's trials, seeking a quick escape from pain and suffering. However, James chapter 1 encourages us to pause and adopt a different perspective when faced with various trials. James invites us to consider our trials as opportunities for growth and endurance. Rather than simply wishing for an immediate end to our struggles, he prompts us to embrace them with joy, knowing that they have the potential to cultivate steadfastness within us. Furthermore, James offers us hope and practical guidance as we navigate life's turbulent waters. As you tune in to today's episode, my hope and prayer are that you find renewed hope and determination to persevere through whatever season of life you may be experiencing. Let's journey together towards a deeper faith and resilience, even amidst life's challenges. Loving God is often easier said than done, isn't it? John's message in 1 John emphasizes that our love for God must be reflected in how we treat others; the two are inseparable. Loving others is undeniably challenging, perhaps the most difficult aspect of living out our faith. It demands a deliberate pause to consider others' needs before our own, often requiring us to set aside our agendas to serve those around us, especially our immediate community. Despite occasional fatigue or reluctance, love compels us to remain attentive and sacrificial. If you, like me, sometimes feel overwhelmed by the weight of the word "love," I hope today's episode will provide encouragement. Even amidst the toughest circumstances, let's persevere in loving others because of our love for Jesus and our desire to obey Him.
I'm so excited to introduce my WP community to my friend Lacy Latta! Our discussion really uplifted me, and I'm confident it'll do the same for you. She bravely expresses her apprehension about putting her trust in God as she embarks on the path He's guiding her toward, highlighting the necessity of relying on faith and persevering in obedience. I admire her honesty about grappling with depression and anxiety, acknowledging how they can impede us from fulfilling our calling, and emphasizing that obedience to God's word is truly the key to overcoming these challenges. Just like Peter, I get it wrong a lot of the times. One minute Peter is claiming Jesus is the Messiah and then next he is rebuking Him! Listen, if there is one thing I have learned- it is that Jesus is always right! But I have questioned Him more times than I can count. It might not have been verbally, but with every hesitation, I show my lack of trust in who He is. Understanding who Jesus is leads to how we live. When we get this wrong, our whole thinking and attitude can be wrong! Listen in with me today, as we read in the book of Mark and discover how Peter, one of Jesus' closest disciples, gets it wrong too.
Watch out ya'll! There's a new driver on the road! My daughter Sally got her driving permit and let's just say we both have a lot to learn! Learning to drive has all the feels- Teaching her to drive has all the feels; excited, scared, nervous, uneasy, uncomfortable... We are in new territory trying to survive until we both feel confident she has learned what she needs to. This new stage of driving reminds me of the different stages we walk as christians. Some are in the brand new stage of being a christian, which can be exciting and scary at the same time. Some are in the comfortable stage, which can lead to routine, habits, knowing God's voice or feeling bored, out of touch or plain ol' lack luster. Some have years of a beautiful love story with Jesus and are in the "to know and be known" stage. No matter what stage you happen to be in, we all need to be students who are willing to learn, moving us closer in our walk with the Lord. Today, we talk about 3 steps that will help us when we are feeling stuck. 1.) Admit to ourselves the stage we are in 2.) Be honest with God about that makes us feel 3.) Act our way into a new feeling to push past our fears * Thank you for spending just a few moments of your day with me! I am honored and humbled. I would love to hear for you if you are so inclined. You can email me at worthypursuit@yahoo.com * Could you take a few minutes and leave a 5 star review so others can have to opportunity to hear this podcast? It would help so much!
Do you ever give up to soon in your prayer life? We all know that God knows our every need, even before we ask it. So why even ask? Won't He give it to me if He really wants to? Prayer does a lot more than give us what we want or act as some wish list at Christmas time. Prayer has the ability to change our hearts and steer us in a whole new life direction. But what if we give up on a prayer to soon? Today, let's talk about being persistant. I mean, annoying persistance!! Using Matthew 7, we are encouraged to continue asking until one of two things happens: 1) God grants us what we ask for or 2) God changes our hearts to ask for something different.
Each morning as my little dog Perci runs after her hairy brother Chase, trying to steal whatever crumbs she can from the remnants of his bone, I am reminded of my own hearts' tendency to run after the crumbs this world offers me as a substitute for Jesus. With the help of God and a renewed focus on Jesus, I can remain faithful. Stewarding a heart of gratitude as to not compare myself with the things of this world is a must! Keeping my eyes on Jesus and looking for the blessing my Heavenly Father has in store for me is a worthy pursuit!
In the last episode we talked about being the salt of the world. This week we continue with in the same scriptures and talk about being Light in a dark world. God calls us to seek after Jesus with our whole heart and when truth is revealed, we share His truth to all those around us- just as a light on a pedestal illuminates the whole room. Being light of the world requires us to live in obedience to scripture and align our lives in accordance to His statutes. As we do this, we begin to shine bright for the glory of God, pointing others to Him and the hope He brings. Join me today as we reflect on being image bearers of the true Light of the World. What does salt have to do with being a Christian? Jesus uses salt to illustrate to his believers how important we are to this dark and dying world. But He warns us, if we lose our saltiness by letting the impurities of this world in our lives, we will cease to be effective for the kingdom of God. Living a life of purpose and usefulness is something we all long for. We get to preserve God's truth and proclaim His goodness to all those around us and show them the Light of who God is. In today's episode I talk with my very first guest on the podcast! It was so much fun I think I will have to do it again! Hit play and let's get this conversation started....
Does making new goals stress you out or excite you? Do you enjoy the process or dread even the thought of it? I love making new goals. However, it doesn't mean I good at achieving them! Failing is actually apart of the process. "If you have no tolerance for failure, you will not create anything new" -Brene Brown As Christians, how should we make goals? What is God calling us to and how do we even get there? Let's talk about it and get excited for what the Lord has in-store for each of us. This world tells us to "Be Real, "be yourself", "do what makes you happy", "who cares what others think, you be you!". But is this inline with what God's word tells us or is it in complete contrast? Are we listening more to social media or to God's Word? I must admit this is a hard one! A lot of our time is spent combing through social media and unknowingly imparting the messages into our thoughts. Knowing God's Word however, will help us as we confront these messages and try to live out our christian values in this selfy obsessed world. Join me as we look at Philippians chapter 2 to see how Paul encourages us to live a life of humility and unity with one another.
In the book of Mark, we read story after story how Jesus has authority over all- over the sea, demons, sickness, social orders, kings, and most of all over individual hearts. Mark 5 tells of a man who was demon possed, living in the tombs and an outcast from his community. Jesus comes to heal him and restore his life. In stark contrast to the unbridled gratitued of the healed man, is a community who rejects Him because of fear. What do we do when Jesus shows His authority over our lives? Do we follow, trusting He knows best or do we push Him aside and continue living however we chose?
Matthew 8 shows us 4 things about Jesus: 1- Jesus has compassion on people 2- Jesus asks us to notice people 3- Jesus asks us to be apart of the solution to help others 4- Jesus asks us to bring what little we have and He will do the rest!
Taking God at His word is not always easy, yet when we read a scripture so powerful as Luke 11:5-13, we long for Him to fullfill His promise. Problem is.. we have to keep living in persistence and showing up so our God can show out! We have to keep asking, keep seeking and keep knocking. When we do that, God says He will answer! Jump in with me today to see how these scriptures play out in our everyday.
Let's start something new! How about we take God at His word. I mean really start believing He says what He means and He means what He says. Therefore, when we read a promise from God in His Word we start living like we believe Him and change the way we act, think and behave. In todays episode we talk about how we can take God at his word when He says we need to stop worring and begin to seek God first.
Do you ever feel like God is giving you conflicting messages? On one hand He is telling me to wait and then on the other He is telling me to go! Which one is it Lord? Should I stay or should I go now? (I couldn't help it! I had to!) The Ruth is a beautiful example of how we are to wait with expectation, trusting the Lord will show up and provide a path forward. Waiting on the Lord is active not passive. Today we will discover how we wait with confidence and hope.
Nehemiah chose three things he did that helped him stand firm against the enemy. Knowing the statics that distract, discourage and disillusion us from fullfilling our God given calling will help us building what God has called us to and fight for what matters most. Nehemiah was the leader the Isralite people need to complete the wall and bring restoration back to their nation.
The book of Nehemiah in the Bible gives us a beautiful example of when God calls us to build something for His glory, He will empower us to accomplish it! But the minute we declare victory for the Lord is the minute our enemy declares war on us. Nehemiah shows us how to stand firm and keep pursuing Jesus no matter.
Are you looking for Him? Do you see Him? What is your testimony today, not 5 years ago or when you were saved, but TODAY!? How does God speak to you the best?
I love when scripture makes sense! Not every time we read something in the Bible does it hit my head or my heart the way I want it to, but I have learned, if we keep reading, keep thinking about it, the Lord will begin to reveal more truths to us. Today we are talking about Psalms 1 and Psalms 119
When we actually start looking for Jesus in out everyday... funny thing is... we actually see Him! He has always been there and will always be there, the difference is us! Our eyes begin to open to see Him and notice all the areas of our day in which God is working and moving. The choice we get to make is, are we going to join Him!?
Listening to what God is trying to teach me is a constant battle. Yet, when I take time to process what He is telling me, I feel His abundant wisdom lived out in my life and the life of those around me. Learning to listen to God also means I need to learn to listen to others as well. He cares for them and loves them more than I can imagine. As we listen to one another, God's love is on display! May we learn to listen more and give advice less...
Stretching myself and doing something hard! I felt God telling me to step out and commit to day a podcast recording everyday for at least a week.. but that seems to hard, to much of a commitment. What happens if I fail or say something wrong or quit!? Well the chose is mine. Obey and reap a blessing or disobey and ultimately fail... So here goes nothin'
So much of our day if filled with negativity and stress. But God is calling us to be the light that shines in the dark for all to see, to be the salt of this world. As we shine for Jesus, others are encouraged to do the same and are drawn towards Him. May we learn to trust in Jesus for each day, walking in righteousness that pushes others to seek after Him more and more.
The world around us constantly projects its opinion upon us. With no apologies to those who disagree. The more we listen and surround ourselves with these lies, the more they infiltrate into our heart. How do we fight against this? How can we know the truth and live a life that honors God? We cling to His word. And you know what? The more we hear the truth, read the truth and listen to the truth, the more we long for its safety and protection. God put a longing in each one of our hearts to know Him. Therefore when we read His word, He grows that longing in our hearts more and more. Then the things of this world, its temptations and lies, grow dimmer and dimmer as God reveals His truth to us.
We all are human. We want to fall back into our lazy ways not pursuing after Christ and His righteousness. It's hard work! We may even think we can float for a little bit in the middle- not pushing the "good Christian" thing very hard- and not living in out right sin and rebellion. But because we are human, if we aren't pursuing after righteousness we are automatically falling away from Christ. It is only by His power we stay connected and want to lean more into our walk with Him.
Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry, sometimes we need to fight hand in hand with our Savior. Thank goodness Isaiah reminds us that we don't have to do it alone!
As women and mommas, we do this all the time! Comparison. We may even do it so much we aren't even aware we are doing it! But is it healthy, is it what God wants for our lives? How can we begin to love our selves enough to speak kindness and truth to our hearts so we can love others better?
James chapter 2:14 teaches us how faith and works are intertwined to produce a saving faith. Without works our faith is dead. We must get up off the bench and participate in the things that God has prepared for us in advance.
James 3:13-18 How do we become wise in the mist of broken people? James tells us we need to live well, live wisely, and live humbly, treat others with dignity and honor.
While fishing with my son, Jesus asked me if I was willing to give up those things that I was passionate about. Matthew 18
We have things in our life we don't want to give up on! Health, loved ones, relationships, dreams, children... This story of Jacob reminds us that God honors our persistence, don't give up, keep pressing forward to grab hold of His promises!
