Church Acts with Terry Molinaro

Welcome back to the Church Acts Podcast! In this episode, Terry takes a deep dive into the idea of life's timeline—how the big and small moments, both good and bad, can shape how we see ourselves and our journey. You'll hear about finding clarity in hindsight, breaking free from old cycles, and embracing the open possibilities of the future. This is about reclaiming your story, letting go of the weight of the past, and leaning into the plans God has for you. Key Takeaways: Hindsight gives clarity, but it doesn't have to define where you're going. Charting your timeline can help you uncover patterns and gain perspective. Moving forward takes hope, action, and trust in God's promises. Action Step:Take some time to map out your timeline: Grab a piece of paper and draw a horizontal timeline. Mark major events—good, bad, and everything in between. Reflect on what those moments taught you and where you see patterns. Pray over your timeline and the blank space ahead, inviting God into all the moments to come.

HOPE & SLEEP OPTIMIZATION PODCASTFIVE PRIMARY POINTS of this WEEK's PODCAST* Semaglutide: A Double-Edged Sword for Knee Osteoarthritis* What We Learned: Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) significantly reduces weight (13.7% vs. 3.2% in placebo) and knee arthritis pain (14-point reduction on a 100-point scale). However, the high cost (~$15,000 for 16 months) and potential risks, including gastrointestinal issues and cancer concerns, demand caution.* Action Step: If you're considering semaglutide, discuss with your doctor whether the benefits outweigh the risks for your condition. Explore lifestyle changes like weight management and targeted physical therapy, which may offer similar benefits without the cost and side effects.* Unlock the Power of Brown Fat for Longevity* What We Learned: Brown adipose tissue (BAT) helps regulate blood sugar, improve cardiovascular health, and combat aging-related metabolic decline. Exercise, cold exposure, and certain medications like semaglutide can activate and sustain this "good fat."* Action Step: Incorporate consistent exercise and brief cold exposure (e.g., 30-60 seconds in a cold shower or time in cool outdoor temperatures) to stimulate your BAT and enhance your metabolic health. Consult your doctor before starting new routines.* Heat Therapy: A Surprising Ally Against Muscle Loss* What We Learned: Heat therapy during periods of immobilization (e.g., after an injury) reduces muscle atrophy and preserves strength by interrupting muscle-wasting pathways. Initial studies suggest measurable benefits, even for healthy individuals.* Action Step: Consider heat therapy, like saunas or heat wraps, during recovery from injury or immobility to maintain muscle mass. Discuss with a healthcare provider how to integrate this into your recovery plan.* Vitality is a Skill You Can Master* What We Learned: Vitality isn't just a state; it's a skill that requires practice and deliberate choices. Small actions like regular exercise, mindful eating, and exploring innovative health strategies compound over time to transform your well-being.* Action Step: Take ownership of your vitality by committing to one small, consistent improvement this week—whether it's walking for 20 minutes daily, preparing healthier meals, or trying a cold shower.* Weekly Focus: Dare to Boost Your Vitality* What We Learned: Simple, consistent actions can yield profound health benefits. This week's focus is on leveraging cold exposure and mindful exercise to boost energy, enhance metabolism, and explore the regenerative potential of brown fat.* Action Step: Take a brief cold shower tomorrow morning, and aim for 20-30 minutes of moderate exercise five times this week. Track how these small habits make you feel more energized and in control of your vitality.Remember, as Shakespeare said, “Our bodies are gardens; our wills are the gardeners.” Tend to your garden with intentional actions this week, and dare to be vital!HOPE & SLEEP OPTIMIZATION PODCAST This is a public episode. In this episode of Five by the Fire, Pastor Fury dives into the concept of waiting on God—revealing that waiting doesn't mean passivity but moving in faith while trusting God's guidance. Through personal stories about the founding of the Unshackled Network and the Ordered Chaos Club, Pastor Fury shares how he stepped forward in obedience even without a clear blueprint. God's faithful redirection and confirmation came as he moved forward. Rooted in biblical insights from Proverbs 16:9, Isaiah 30:29, and Psalm 37:5, this episode highlights the importance of humble faith, the willingness to take action, and the assurance that God will guide, confirm, and redirect our steps. Reading Plan Passages: 2 KINGS 5 1 TIMOTHY 2 DANIEL 9 PSALM 51 Key Scriptures: "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." - Proverbs 16:9 (NIV) "And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it,' when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left." - Isaiah 30:21 (NIV) "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will act." - Psalm 37:5 (NIV) Bottom Line: Waiting on God isn't about standing still—it's about stepping forward in faith, trusting that God will guide, confirm, and redirect you as you go. Action Step: Take time to reflect on areas in your life where you've been waiting for a clear sign from God. Ask yourself if He has already given you a sense of direction, and start moving in faith, trusting Him to adjust your course as needed. Episode 92: Exploring 5 Blind Spots I Discovered Introduction: Hey there, wonderful listeners! Welcome back to another awesome episode of the Maeve Ferguson Podcast. I'm thrilled to dive into a topic that's close to my heart - the five blind spots I recently uncovered. These insights are valuable for everyone, and I'm excited to share them with you today. The Amazing Guest: Before we jump in, let me tell you about an incredible guest who's soon joining us for episode 100. Amelia, an exceptional real estate investment coach and a dear friend, will be gracing our podcast. She's all about building generational wealth through real estate, and I can't wait for you to hear her insights. Keep an eye out for her episode! You can take Amelia's quiz here Blind Spot 1: Stories I Tell Myself: Lat weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting Amelia, who's both a client and a friend. Spending time together opened my eyes to a massive blind spot: the stories I've unknowingly crafted around my personal life. I thought I was free from these narratives, but turns out, I had built quite a collection, especially after the arrival of my second child. I realized that personal transformation is an ongoing journey, and it's easy to get trapped in stories we create. It's time to question those narratives! Action Step: Take a moment to reflect on the narratives you've constructed about your life. Are they true, or are they just stories? Imagine someone giving you a reality check - a "wet fish slap" - to wake you up to the fact that these are just stories. What would that wake-up call look like for you? Blind Spot 2: Solutions in Business vs. Personal Life: I pride myself on being solution-oriented in my business, helping coaches find solutions for their challenges. However, when it came to my personal life, I realized I was stuck in a different mindset. A wedding invitation arrived that required me to travel, leaving my children behind. Initially, I felt overwhelmed and believed it was impossible. But Amelia's perspective and support helped me see that creative solutions are possible when we're open to them. Action Step: Think about a problem you're facing in your personal life. Are you approaching it with the same solution-oriented mindset you have in your business? Challenge yourself to consider alternative solutions, even if they seem unconventional. Blind Spot 3: The Value of Rest and Relaxation: I've always been passionate about my work, often neglecting rest and relaxation. Spending quality time with Amelia made me realize that downtime and laughter are just as crucial as work. During our spa day and heart-to-heart conversations, I felt rejuvenated. It hit me that rest is an essential component of high performance. Action Step: Evaluate your work-life balance. Are you giving yourself enough time to rest and relax? Consider activities that recharge you, whether it's binge-watching a show, reading a book, or simply spending time with loved ones. Blind Spot 4: The Power of a Dream Team: Having a supportive and capable team can make or break your business. When I fell ill, my incredible copywriting coach stepped up and saved the day. This highlighted the importance of having a dream team to rely on, even outside of business contexts. Action Step: Reflect on your team, both in your business and personal life. Are you nurturing a network of support? Whether it's colleagues, friends, or family, having a strong support system can make a world of difference. Blind Spot 5: The Health and High-Performance Connection: My health and diet habits were often all or nothing - extreme periods of discipline followed by indulgent days. However, I realized that my well-being directly impacts my business performance. Aligning health and high performance became a priority, as I recognized that a balanced approach yields better results. Action Step: Consider the connection between your health and your ability to perform in your professional life. How can you integrate healthier habits that contribute to your overall high performance? Remember, it's not about perfection, but consistent progress. Conclusion: That's a wrap on today's episode, where we explored five eye-opening blind spots I discovered. Remember, we're all on a journey of growth, and recognizing our blind spots is a step toward becoming our best selves. Revelation Radio with Andi Hale

What's baptism and why does it matter? When you think of “baptism,” what comes to mind? If you said “dunking someone in water”—you're not wrong! Many churches have different approaches to baptism, but the ultimate purpose of baptism is to outwardly express an inward change. It is both a symbolic expression of faith and an act of obedient surrender and repentance, which is why it's the natural next step someone takes after they make a decision to believe in and follow Christ. This public act allows us to identify with Christ's death and resurrection, repent from the way we used to live, and celebrate the new, eternal life we have because of Jesus' sacrifice. But even before Jesus came to earth, God symbolizes His ability to redeem people and make them new by having them pass through water. It happened to the Israelites as they crossed the Red Sea, and again when they crossed the Jordan River. It occurs to Naaman the leprous commander in 2 Kings who is healed once he dips in the Jordan River seven times. (And these are just a few examples!) In each of these instances, God prophetically showcases His power and glory by using water to illustrate His ability to cleanse, heal, restore, and redeem. When Jesus comes, He publicly confirms His commitment to God through baptism. And by doing so, He also foreshadows what will happen when He dies for humanity and arises from the dead three days later. So when we take part in baptism, we are choosing to live like Jesus by following His example. We are choosing to let God redeem and heal us by dying to our old selves and allowing Him to raise us up to a new life.Baptism matters because it's something that Jesus exemplified, and commanded His disciples to do. So as you process what baptism means to you, look for opportunities to bring others along with you. Talk to them about what it means to follow Jesus, and consider inviting them to take part in the act of baptism. Here are some questions you might want to ask…Do you believe you need Jesus? What does believing in Jesus mean to you?Do you believe that Jesus died for you and rose again? What does following Jesus look like? How have you asked God to forgive you for your past mistakes?Have you invited Jesus into your life?Action Step:Take a few moments today to cultivate discussions about faith with other people who are in different places in their walk with God. Then, reflect on it.

Fear, Doubt, Indecision....Don't let these things hold you back.  When you are facing your fears (especially the fear of failure), you need to be prepared.   We all fail, but what many people don't realize is that failing is a key ingredient  of success. Anyone who's ever succeeded has also failed many times before they were successful! So how do you overcome your failures on your way to success? Here are 5 keys to overcoming failure.  1. Learn From Your Mistakes and Failures.    Learning to ride a bike is not an easy task. You will fall off 100 times before you succeed in your attempt, but it's worth all of the hard work because once that first pedal turns smoothly with no input from yourself (or any other force), nothing can stop someone who knows how cool they are at riding!   Action Step: Write down the top five things that you learned from your last mistake or failure.    2. Don't Dwell on It.  Now that you have learned something from your mistake, move on. Don't dwell on your past. You can't tell where you are going if you are looking backward. Also, dwelling on your past failures will keep you in prison right where you are.    Action Step: Read what you have written down in Key 1 (The 5 Things You Learned).  3. Don't Be Afraid to Try Again.  The fear from your last failure shouldn't stop you. You just need to learn how again and keep at it until you succeed! So many people give up when they fail, but that's because their mindset is all focused on the bad times. Your greatness awaits within those moments where things go wrong - now is a great time for new beginnings as long as we have faith in ourselves   Action Step: Take what you have learned and try it again now that you are better prepared   4. Surround Yourself with Positive People.  No matter what it is that you are trying to achieve, surround yourself with successful people that have done what you want to do. One of the best ways to overcome failure is to learn how other people just like you overcame failure. This will not only encourage you but give you proof that it can be done.   Action Step: Find a person or a group of people who are successful and get around them as soon as possible.  5. Realizing Failure is Part of the Learning Curve.  Failure and mistakes aren't fun but they are what help us learn to be great at whatever it is we are trying to achieve. “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”    Action Step: Think back to a time when you succeeded. Then think how many times you failed or made mistakes to get to that success.    Now that you have the 5 Keys to Overcoming Failure, go out there and just do it! You have a seed of greatness inside of you. Don't let anyone or anything stop you from reaching your full potential in life.    Make sure you like and subscribe to our podcast & don't forget to go hit us up on our Facebook & Instagram Page or more importantly share this episode with someone you know.

Perfect for: Anyone who is or has been confused about the difference between coaching and disciple making.    Coaching is non-directive, but disciple making is directive.     Disciple making however is directive, but don't mistake directive with inflexible. Disciple makers are experts/models for what it means to follow Jesus. A disciplee is someone who recognizes his need to learn from the discipler.  Disciple making requires faithfulness to Jesus, coaching requires faithfulness to a process.     A discipler can't develop someone further than she's developed. She must not only be a maturing disciple, she must also know how to help another become a maturing disciple.     Coaching however depends on the process of listening and inquiry. This allows a coach to coach doctors without being a doctor or lawyers without being a lawyer. Coaching assumes you know what you need to know, disciple making assumes you don't.     Disciple making assumes you know some things and don't know others.   Coaching is primarily self-focused, but disciple making is primarily others centered.      Disciple making relationships begin because the discipler wants to help another grow to maturity.   Takeaway: Coaching and disciple making are not the same.   Action Step: “Take some time to evaluate your disciple making relationship and ask the question, am I coaching or am I making disciples.”      Show Notes: https://www.justingravitt.com/blog/coaching-disciplemaking   Luke 6:40, Matthew 4:19, 1 Cor. 11:1   Justin's Website Tony's Website Navigators Church Ministries The Reclamation Podcast

13 Steps to Stop Making Excuses#1. Stop Comparing Yourself to OthersWhen you compare yourself to other people, especially those who have already achieved what you want to achieve, you're focusing on your weaknesses rather than your strengths. This probably makes you feel defeated and hopeless if you see a big gap between where you are today and where they are.For example, let's say you're setting out to learn a new language and you want to get some practice by speaking with someone else who has also learned that language as a second language. However, they're fluent and are able to speak quickly without thinking about what comes next. While this may seem intimidating to you, you have to remember that they were once in the position you're in now. They are just at a different stage in the learning process. In other situations, the truth is that other people could be comparing themselves to you and you don't even realize it. It's important to remember to never make assumptions when it comes to what other people are thinking or what their true experience is.If you are making an excuse to not try something new because you are comparing yourself to others who are experts in the field, remember that they once stood in your shoes and were able to get where they are today.Action Step: Instead of focusing on what you don't have, focus on your strengths and adopt a mindset of gratitude. Being grateful for the opportunities that are available to you to help you grow will start to improve the way you feel about yourself. If you get stuck on how to be more thankful for what you have, then try this 30-day gratitude challenge. #2. Stop Fearing the UnknownPeople tend to be wary of taking risks that could disrupt their current reality, and are often opposed to making even the smallest change to the comfort of their daily behaviors, even if their current actions aren't in their best interest. A simple example of this is that people are often slow to try new hobbies because it disrupts their normal routine.  On a bigger scale, people hesitate to make career changes because they're afraid that the outcome won't be worth the risk, and staying in their current situation is the easy choice.Sure, things may go wrong. But, things may also go very right. The unknown can be scary, but that doesn't mean that it is necessarily bad.So many good things can come into your life from the risks you take in areas that are unknown to you. Don't just assume that anything that is unknown to you is going to turn out to be a negative thing. Action Step: Get used to stepping into the unknown by doing it more often. Break up your daily routine by taking a different route to work or going to a new exercise class. Preventing yourself from falling into a strict routine in the first place or disconnecting from your internal auto-pilot will help you welcome the unknown rather than fear it. #3. Stop Blaming OthersOne of the most destructive things you can do in life is to play the blame game. It is the basis for a considerable amount of frustration and unhappiness in people's lives. The blame game entails blaming someone else for something that happened to you that was undesirable and staying convinced that it was someone else's fault instead of being proactive and making the necessary changes to resolve a situation. This often stems from irrational thinking and is not healthy for you or for the person you are blaming.People also tend to blame outside circumstances or conditions for their downfalls. For example, have you ever heard someone complain that they're not making enough money and then blame it on the current state of the economy? Doing this takes away a sense of personal responsibility for something that person wants to change about their lives.Action Step: Take ownership of your life and recognize when you're blaming others. Exercise the authority you have over your life by taking charge of anything that is within your control. #4. Take Responsibility For ALL Your ActionsBeing responsible requires acting on your ability to respond to things that happen. It involves using your power to change and to offer the most practical responses to life's everyday problems. There are two components of taking responsibility. One is accepting personal responsibility and the other is accepting indirect responsibility.Taking personal responsibility refers to taking ownership of your own actions and their consequences. If you haven't gone to the gym in a year, yet you're trying to get healthier, it wasn't a time constraint that was holding you back. Take ownership of the control you have over your actions and ability to make decisions and set your own priorities. If you are unable to accept responsibility for your actions or mistakes, it is very hard to gain the respect of other people.Indirect responsibility involves moving beyond yourself to take necessary action to help other people. Let's say you found someone's wallet in the parking lot. While you may think that is someone else's problem and it has nothing to do with you, accepting indirect responsibility would urge you to take action and try to contact the owner. Having this type of responsibility reveals a factor of your character that shows you don't make excuses when faced with a task.Action Step: We can't change some of life's circumstances or how other people behave towards us, but we can control our responses to these things to change an outcome. Taking responsibility also requires changing your mindset. This may sound cheesy, but reciting to yourself, “If it is to be, it is up to me” is simple to remember and will remind you that you're responsible for doing anything that you're able to do if there is a need. (Read this post to learn more about accountability and responsibility.) #5. Take Action Every DayPart of taking action is taking risks. You may have big plans that sound great in theory, but you never plan on actually following through with them. Stop making excuses and take the action that is needed to achieve the goals you want in life and create success for yourself. One of the first things you have to do to eliminate your excuses is to take that first step.Have you been avoiding the gym because of “time”? Dedicate specific blocks in your schedule for the gym and get dressed and go. You have to act on your intentions to stop even entertaining the idea of coming up with an excuse.Action Step: Recognize that the first step will be the hardest. You're the only person who can make it happen, though. Act on it. So challenge yourself to do at least one thing every day for each of your goals. #6. Set Small, Attainable GoalsSetting large goals may seem so overwhelming that you don't even know where to start. Further, you may start working towards your long-term goal and find that you're not getting anywhere fast and give up. (Sidenote: Here are some songs about not giving up giving you some inspiration!)Instead, break down your ultimate goal into many smaller goals that are attainable so you can make progress that you can actually see. Every time you meet one of these smaller goals, you will be more motivated to continue on toward your ultimate goal. (Don't underestimate the power of small wins!)For example, let's say you aren't much of a runner, but you want to run a marathon. You may start out by running one mile and then think that running 26.2 miles is an unattainable goal and you should just quit. Rather than starting with the ultimate goal of running a marathon, start with aiming to complete a 5k.This is an attainable goal for someone who does not have a lot of running experience. Once that goal is complete, move up to a 10k. Keep increasing this goal until you reach your ultimate goal of finishing a marathon.Action Step: Create a milestone map. Your milestones are still significant steps, but they help shift your mindset to focus on the smaller things you need to do that will accumulate toward completing your long-term goal. Doing this will help you start to recognize the necessary steps toward achieving your goal. #7. Learn from Your MistakesNot only can you learn what not to do when you make a mistake, but you can also analyze what went wrong and figure out how you can do better in the future. All mistakes are learning opportunities, no matter how big or small the mistake may be. Often, trial and error is the best way to work something out.Let's say your goal is to land a great job and you are in the interviewing process with several companies.During one interview, you make a comment that seemed innocuous at the time, but the interviewer seemed put off, and in hindsight, you can see why. I would be willing to bet that you would not repeat that comment during your next interview. Instead, you will take it as an important life lesson that just learned. (For more on this, read these 137 powerful life lessons.)Action Step: Determine what specific action led to the mistake. In the job interview example, were you nervous and responded too quickly to a question without stopping to gather your thoughts? If this is the case, maybe you need to do some more interviewing practice so you're more comfortable with the process. #8. Don't Focus on Your WeaknessesBe aware of your weaknesses, but don't focus on them. Rather, focus on your strengths and the things that you have to offer that other people do not. Ask questions that make you think more deeply about your life.If you consider your lack of experience to be a weakness in your goal of learning a new language, the only way you can face this head-on is to gain the necessary experience to feel like speaking a new language is something that you can eventually accomplish. Rather than focusing on your lack of experience, focus on your drive and ambition to become a fluent speaker.Stop thinking about your weaknesses. If you have a few weaknesses, be aware of them, but do not focus on them.Action Step: Perform a personal SWOT analysis. This means writing down your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that are relevant to achieving your goal. This will help you recognize your weaknesses but allow you to take your focus off of them as you are also looking at the factors that you have in your favor. To get started, check out this guide on how to do a SWOT analysis for your personal life. #9. Change your AttitudeRealize that you have the power to change. You just have to be motivated to do so. You can't feel defeated or complacent with your life just being “okay.” Without making excuses, you have the power to change anything in your life.If you don't feel like you can do it on your own, seek help from other people in order to achieve your goals and get the results you are looking for. Never think that you simply cannot change an aspect of your life. For example, it is within your power to lose weight. While the process may be slow and seemingly unrewarding in the short-term, you're the only person who can control the outcome of your weight-loss efforts. Don't stop trying simply because you think that the steps you're taking (or the steps you have to take in the future) won't benefit you in the long run.Action Step: Be proactive without expecting to see a result. While the steps you take are based upon the results you'd like to see, don't go into it with high and immediate expectations. This will only be setting yourself up for disappointment. Do your best, but don't obsess over the ultimate outcome. Trust the process. #10. Believe in YourselfWhen you are faced with a challenge, do you feel like you can handle it or do you come up with some excuses to avoid it?Perhaps you have a tendency to doubt your own abilities to rise to the challenge and overcome the hardships that life throws your way.Believing in yourself plays an important role in whether or not you are able to achieve the results you want in life. If you want to save enough money to buy a house, but you don't believe that you can actually do it, you won't have any motivation to try because you will see your efforts as being pointless. You have to be able to envision yourself reaching your final goal in order for you to believe it will actually happen.Action Step: Take a few minutes to list the things that you are good at doing and the successes you have had in the past. Then, recognize that everything you listed is evidence that you can, in fact, succeed. Sometimes we forget how successful we have been in the past. Next time you think that you can't do something, alter your focus to the things you have already accomplished and about how you can make your current goal into a reality. #11. Visualize Your SuccessLiterally visualize what it would look like and feel like to achieve your goal and have success. Close your eyes and think about who will be waiting for you at the finish line and the amount of pride you will be feeling as you're running your final few meters. Notice as much detail as possible, such as your clothes, the look on your face, people cheering for you, the weather, the sounds of other runners around you, and anything else you can think of. Imagine your feelings as you are completing your first marathon.Doing this can add some motivation to your agenda, as you will want to actually be able to feel those feelings of accomplishment.Action Step: Get comfortable, close your eyes, and imagine what you would see if your dream was realized. Practice doing this any time you feel a dip in motivation. #12. Remember: It's Okay to Not Be PerfectAccept your mistakes and know that other people are willing to accept your mistakes as well, especially if you own up to them and learn from them. This is something that happens to everyone, even the most successful people.Accept your mistakes and know that other people are willing to accept your mistakes as well, especially if you own up to them and learn from them.People often have a tendency to dwell on their mistakes, but doing so will damage your self-confidence. Dwelling on your mistakes can lead to feelings of anger, frustration, and stress, which can then lead to procrastination. If you're trying to save money for a house, but you bought something on an impulse that really damaged your budget for the month, take the time to accept the mistake and then move on from it. If there is nothing you can do to undo your error in judgement, just do your best in the future to do better.Think of a boxer who gets hit during a boxing match. Does he or she stop to dwell on what they did wrong? Or do they get up and keep moving toward their goal of winning? While they may not repeat whatever they did that caused them to get hit, they're not going to remain seated and let their emotions get the best of them.Action Step: Next time you make a mistake, find the lesson in it and move on. Analyze your decisions, correct your behavior, and get back on the right path. #13. Know You Can Change Your “Excuses Habit”If you are used to coming up with excuses to get out of doing things, this is a habit that can be changed. Think about what you are actually trying to avoid when you make an excuse. Are you avoiding doing extra work? Or maybe you don't want to give up your free time or move around your priorities?Try to figure out what you are really trying to get away from and address it head on. You can stop making excuses and start getting the results you want if you are able to have a clear vision of what you want for the future. If you want to meet the love of your life, but refuse to go out and do anything on weekends because you want to watch television, you're never going to get closer to meeting someone than you are now. Start saying “yes” to social invitations, even if your immediate gut-reaction answer is “no” because that is just what you're used to saying.Action Step: Say yes. The next time any sort of opportunity presents itself to you that is relevant to helping you meet your goal, agree to it without hesitation. When it comes to your own future, making excuses is a habit that is limiting your ability to meet your full potential. It can keep you spinning your wheels for years without making any progress and lead you to feelings of dissatisfaction with life or a lack of purpose. If you choose to blame other people for your own actions, this can lead to bad outcomes including developing a bad reputation with colleagues and peers. You may take this to the opposite extreme and give other people credit for work that you actually did. If this is the case, you will likely be wondering why you are not making progress toward achieving your goals. Final Thoughts on How to Stop Making ExcusesFollow the 13 steps that I outlined in this article, which will allow you to take the important first step to forever breaking the excuses habit. Start with one or two. Once those are mastered, add a few more. It won't take long to follow all of these habits an set yourself up for long term success in your life.Honestly, sometimes people get so used to making excuses that doing so is their default answer to everything. They hardly consider actually saying “yes” or taking on responsibility. They are just wired to come up with one of the excuses that they hold handy. It is important to make the best of every situation instead and never make an excuse that is not valid.I am inviting you to check out my resources page. Guiding Scripture: Revelation 12:11 - “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”Everyone has a story—including you—and your story is completely, one hundred percent unique to you. There is no one in the world who shares your exact combination of gifts, flaws, experiences, or opinions. God designed you with all of these things in mind, and His plan is for your story to have a powerful impact on the world. So the question is, are you ready to tell your story without apology? What is your story? It's either a challenge you've overcome or something good that you've achieved. It impacts other people around you in some way, either in religious or secular spaces or both.It always brings glory and honor to God.Ex. My story about depressionWhy it's important to tell your story:It brings glory to God. (Matthew 5:16)It is part of the Great Commission. (Acts 1:8)It encourages and strengthens everyone who hears it (Revelation 12:11).It is healing for us to share our stories. (James 5:16)3 ways to tell your story in 2022:Share your story. This is probably the easiest and most accessible way to tell your story with others. It simply involves you telling people in your sphere of influence what God has done for you, such as friends, family members, coworkers, etc.Write your story. This doesn't literally have to be in the form of a book. It can also include blog posts, plays, movies, songs, paintings, or any other art form that God inspires you to use.Declare your story. This often involves a form of public speaking.4 signs you may be ready to tell your story:You've gone through Christian-based therapy or counseling to help you heal from any trauma you've experienced. You have a healthy community that is supportive and encourages you to tell it.You have a strong sense of boundaries concerning what you feel comfortable sharing. You feel that God is prompting you to share it.Key Point: At the end of the day, only you know for sure if you're really ready to tell your story. Never let anyone pressure you into sharing before you're ready.Action Step: Take at least 30 minutes to spend quiet time with God, and ask Him what testimony He has given you that you can share with the world. If you see the signs listed above in your own life and feel comfortable, begin moving forward with sharing your story, following the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Guiding Scripture: Isaiah 43:19 - “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”In 2020, the world had to deal with the whirlwind that was COVID-19. This year (2021), many of us were hoping to find some sense of normalcy again, but so far that hasn't been easy, because this year has had plenty of challenges of its own. As a result, many of us have had to go back to the basics as it relates to the different areas of our lives. In this episode, I'm talking about how God made me go “back to the basics” this year, and what that might look like for you.Key Point: In May of 2020, I released a podcast episode called “The Reset,” (Season 2, Episode 25) which may seem like the same thing as going “back to the basics.” It's not. Webster's Dictionary defines a reset as “moving something back to its original place or position.” I'm talking about rebuilding from the foundations and creating something new. In some ways, that's scarier. It's fitting that my family built a house during this time, because it felt like God was reconstructing my life at the same time.3 Areas Where God Took Me “Back to the Basics”My personality. In this season, God has spent a lot of time reaffirming my identity in Him. If I'm not careful, I tend to be an overachiever who finds my identity in doing, instead of being. (Martha vs Mary) God had to do some course correcting with me in that area because I got out of balance. At the same time, he has been showing me some areas where I still have room for growth. My business. I've been in business as a freelance writer and editor for over a decade, and I've made a lot of mistakes over the years simply because I didn't know any better. Recently I invested in a coaching program to help me build a stronger foundation for my business, and it was worth every penny. My relationship with my family. This area is the most personal because it's still in progress. Without getting into too much detail, I'm learning how to listen more and work on healthier ways to deal with conflict as it relates to my husband and children. Key Point: Rebuilding can often feel discouraging, because it involves God peeling back layers and showing you things that aren't working, even though you thought they were.Action Step: Take at least 30 minutes to spend quiet time with God, and ask Him how He wants to remake and rebuild you during this season. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the strength to commit to this process, even when it gets uncomfortable.

If you ask most people what their "calling" in life is, you're likely to get either their job title or a blank stare. But what if your calling isn't meant to be a mystery? What if it's closer than you think? In this episode, we'll discuss the 5 questions that can help you discover your God-given calling, so that you can walk into your destiny with confidence. What am I better at than most people? It’s not enough for you to do something well. Something you’re good at is a gift, but something you’re exceptional at is more likely to be your calling. For example, I think I'm a good cook, but I'm not good enough to become a chef. I am, however, better than most people at writing.Thinking about your gifts in general terms will keep you confused. You need to drill down and focus if you want clarity. What do I love to do?There is a lot of debate online about whether you should pursue "passion or profit." I think that misses the point. Your passion is an important part of who you are, and it needs to be acknowledged, even if you don't make a living pursuing it.Your passions can change over time. Some passions are only for a season, and that’s okay. It’s also fine to have more than one passion. What makes you angry and keeps you up at night? For example, I have a friend who loves animals and hates when they're abused, which led to her taking a job as a veterinarian assistant. What problems are you uniquely equipped to solve? As queen of Persia, Esther was able to use her royal position and her connection to the Jewish people to save them from destruction. As a wealthy German businessman, Oskar Schindler was able to save over 1,200 Jewish people from being sent to concentration camps during World War II. Look at your upbringing, culture, personality and personal history to help you identify what problems you can solve that few others can.Who are your people?I like to call this your “belong group.” In other words, these are the people who speak your language and respond to your ideas with enthusiasm and support. In business, this is your audience. In church, it may be your area of ministry. No one is called to everyone. Even Jesus was limited in his area of ministry (See Matthew 15:24).Use these questions to help you decide whether a job, project or volunteer opportunity is the right fit for you. Each individual task you complete won’t check all of these boxes, but the combination of your life experiences (work, family, community, etc.) should.Action Step:Take 30 minutes to answer the 5 questions outlined in this episode. Did any of your answers surprise you? If so, how?References:Episode 2: "Purpose, Calling, Assignment: What's the Difference?"

Purpose Without Apology

The rise of COVID-19 has forced our entire world to change forever. Even as we are making steps to “get back to normal,” the truth is that we will need to create a new normal. Have you embraced this reset?5 Areas I’ve Had to Reset RecentlyMy relationship with God.My relationship with my family. My health. My podcast. My identity.5 Areas That May Need a Reset in Your LifeYour relationship with God: Has your prayer life gotten stronger? You are a brain surgeon.  When you wake up everyday, you literally get to sculpt the physical structure of your brain by choosing your thoughts. In this episode, we cover the body's physical responses to negative vs. positive thoughts down to a cellular and molecular level! It's fascinating to see how even water responds very differently to positive vs. negative influences which gives us a clue to the incredible power of thought on our bodies-- because we are mostly made out of water! Today's topics include: brain's structural response to love vs. fear based thoughts, a tip to change a fear thought, cell growth state vs protective state, impact of negative and positive influence on the molecular structure of water, Emoto's water experiments Action Step: Take every thought captive. If you identify a fear based thought, use gratitude to flip that thought to love based.  Resource: 1) "Yield" Stainless Steel Sculpture by Roxie Paine at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. (resembles brain structure of a fear based thought). Interestingly, the artist describes it as a "dendroid" and not a tree. Thought structures are called "dendrites."   2) Pictures of water molecule experiment with Dr. Masaru Emoto. How does negative vs. positive influence affect the structure of water molecules? 3 minute YouTube Video Photos of Emoto's results
