Since 1972, Canberra-based tanka poet Saeko Ogi (95) has made her home in Australia's capital. A woodblock print exhibition inspired by her tanka poetry is celebrating her long creative career. In August, Theatre Banana Japan—a bilingual theatre company for children founded in New York in 2012 by a group of Japanese mothers—staged performances for students at four schools in Sydney and Melbourne. Why do they stage productions that use multiple languages?
