Another big week for holiday movies! Separate the nice from the naughty with Hope and George!

This episode features two of out semi-regular contributors, Will Bentley and Sean Malloy who we will definitely be hearing more of in 2022! First up then is CASTLE FALLS, directed by Dolph Lundgren who also co-stars alongside Scott Adkins. Next is our first Moroccan film, ACHOURA, a horror film which blends a narrative between adults and their past as children in a way which gives Stephen King a run for his money! We follow this with PORTAL RUNNER, a low budget sci fi which slightly divided opinion between Steve and myself! THE DARKNESS OF THE ROAD features Najarra Townsend (The Stylist) and actually managed to make me appreciate its moment of in-media res!  Finally we review WRATH OF MAN in which Guy Ritchie directs Jason Statham in a clever and gritty thriller. This film has gone straight to Amazon Prime in the UK so was fair game for us to review! Our Short Shot is THE HUNT: SAVAGE WITHIN  in which a Spec Ops team hunt an alien in the jungle, and manages to avoid comparisons to Predator! Finally Finally, our DTV Throwback is FIFTY-FIFTY, a classic action comedy starring Peter Weller and Robert Hayes (Airplane) and peculiarly directed by character actor Charles Martin Smith (The Untouchables). Das war es leider schon wieder. Auch erstmals fünf Tage Hard:line Film Festival vergingen wie im Flug und boten alles, was das Cineastenherz begehrt und nährt. So bot der Sonntag wieder ein reichhaltiges Programm für das Team. Konnten wir uns zunächst noch alle gemeinsam ein Bild von ACHOURA machen, welcher als marokkanischer Horrorfilm der ganz seltenen Sorte bezeichnet werden kann, trennten sich dann temporär unsere Wege. Denn während Benedikt und Max mit THE POOL einen der dramatischsten und unterhaltsamsten Beiträge des Festivals, inklusive Kroko und reichlich Fremdschmerz sichteten, netzwerkten Tobe und Stefan fleißig und erhöhten gleichsam die Zahl der gemachten Interviews. Danach hieße es kurz Luft holen und Essen fassen, während im Kinosaal „Megasuri“ mit ihren rockigen Klängen für das musikalische Highlight des Festivals sorgten. Und damit stand schon der Abschlussfilm nebst Preisverleihung auf dem Programm. Welche Beiträge überraschend oder weniger überraschend in den einzelnen Kategorien als Sieger hervorgegangen sind und wie gebührend der knüppelharte, aber trotzdem komödiantische WHY DON`T YOU JUST DIE das Festival beendete, hört ihr natürlich im Pod. Dieser wurde übrigens auf der windigen Rückfahrt nach Dresden aufgezeichnet, wir bitten also etwaige Tonunzulänglichkeiten zu entschuldigen. Es bleibt an dieser Stelle nur abschließend uns recht herzlich bei den Veranstaltern um Flo zu bedanken. Ihr habt wieder ein großartiges Festival auf die Beine gestellt, das von vorn bis hinten funktioniert hat (STARFISCH mal ausgenommen ;). Wir sind froh als Medienpartner unseren kleinen Teil dazu beigetragen zu haben und werden das auch gerne wieder tun. Ein dickes Dankeschön geht auch hinaus an all die Filmemacher und Kreativen hinter der Kamera, die geduldig die immer gleichen Fragen in den Interviews beantwortet haben. Schöne Grüße senden wir ebenfalls an alle alten und neu dazugekommenen Freundinnen, Bekannten und Kolleginnen, wobei wir an dieser Stelle natürlich den Mike von Viva la Movielucion besonders erwähnen wollen, der in starker Unterzahl fast das ganze Festival an unserer Seite verbracht hat, bevor er dann doch ein wenig früher als geplant abreisen musste um einer tückischen Dialektverschiebung um Haaresbreite zu entgehen. Wir freuen uns auf nächstes Jahr und ihr euch sicherlich ebenso.
