The story of Ayoub explores a particular kind of ordeal in which the pain seems both inexplicable and fruitless—it has nothing to do with any sin you must have committed, itdoesn't resemble a particular spiritual growth, and not the type endured in acts of worship. It is neither a persecution by enemies nor a struggle for mentorship to find direction in life. However, it is a unique type of trial that is tailor-made for you. The good news is that this model of Ayoub-like suffering always has a triumphant ending! Listen, learn and think deeply about the Ayoub in you as you edit your Youniverse! Episode 106 of The Wild Chaos Podcast takes a hard look at one of the most uncomfortable questions in modern faith communities: where does church money actually go?To watch in studio, visit: https://youtu.be/Q-ck0xhaNSsWe're not attacking Christianity — we're asking what happens when institutions handling billions in tithes and donations operate without the same financial transparency required of other nonprofits.Joining us is Chris Ayyub, co-founder of Broken Shepherd and executive producer of The Religion Business, now streaming. He breaks down the legal and cultural loopholes that allow church finances to remain largely opaque, including IRS 990 exemptions, housing allowances, and real estate structures that can quietly build wealth behind the scenes. We also connect this issue to what matters most: protecting people — especially children. From grooming patterns and sextortion to NDAs and overwhelmed ICAC task forces, this conversation highlights why transparency and accountability aren't just financial issues — they're safety issues. If you've ever questioned where your donations go or how to give with confidence, this episode puts language to that instinct.
Luke Gygax, the son of D&D co-creator Gary Gygax, is collaborating with Wizards of the Coast (WotC) to return the Gygax name to the game’s original setting, Greyhawk. This move was engineered by Dan Ayoub, Dungeons & Dragons’ Head of Franchise, who publicly stated that the game had “lost its way” and that involving popular figures like Luke Gygax is an effort to set it on the “right path”. The collaboration will produce Melf’s Guide to Greyhawk (Melf was Luke Gygax’s original player character) and new adventures set in the world. WotC also announced a full presence at Gary Con to mend rifts with the Gygax family and reinforce their commitment to the community, with Ayoub affirming that retailers and “face-to-face physical play” will remain central to D&D. Catalyst announced a new core product line for BattleTech, including a Core Rulebook, Starter Box, and Core Box, all scheduled to launch at Gen Con. These releases move the game's entry point away from the Succession Wars and firmly into the ilClan era, introducing advanced tech like pulse lasers and Clan tech early on. The Starter Box replaces the older Beginner Box, featuring the Hammerhead and Kontio, while the Core Box replaces A Game of Armored Combat and Clan Invasion with eight mechs from various eras. The new Core Rulebook, built off the Battlemech Manual, incorporates significant changes from recent playtests, such as front-loaded unequal initiative and basing charge damage on the Target Movement Modifier (TMM). Games Workshop announced Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition, slated for a June release, with a goal to bridge the gap between narrative and matched play. The edition refocuses the lore on the Armageddon conflict, pitting Imperial Forces against Orks. A key rules change eliminates fighting over objective circles, replacing them with combat for pieces of terrain. GW will allow current 10th edition codexes to remain usable at launch, and the new edition will feature over 70 new detachments. Other updates include reducing stratagem stacking (one per unit per phase), allowing players to roll charge dice before determining targets, and bringing back Combat Disembarking from transports engaged in melee. Hours before Games Workshop's major announcement, the “biblical horror wargame” Trench Crusade launched its first true starter set, Carcass Front, which is available for pre-order at $129.99 and set for a late July release. The box set contains 16 new plastic miniatures split into two warbands: the mobile, smaller-count Heretic Naval Raiders and the high model count, melee-focused Procession of the Sacred Affliction, a zealous cult who practice religious penance by deliberately inducing leprosy. Carcass Front emphasizes narrative play value, including two full campaigns: The Path to Leviathan, a 2-player narrative, and a map-based campaign designed for 2–8 players to battle over resources. #dnd #battletech #warhammer40k #trenchcrusade Warmachine Frontier: https://www.myminifactory.com/frontier/warmachine-lost-damned-salvation-5274 Definitive HATE on MyMiniFactory: https://www.myminifactory.com/frontier/hate-the-definitive-miniature-collection-5301 Sean Aaberg's Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cw/seanaaberg Low Life Sign Up: https://www.dungeondegenerates.com/ Warmachine on MyMiniFactory: https://mmf.io/upturned Mantic Companion App: https://companion.manticgames.com/ Use our Referral code: MCTXEE Support us by Shopping at Miniature Market (afilliate link): https://miniature-market.sjv.io/K0yj7n Support Us by Shopping on DTRPG (afilliate link): https://www.drivethrurpg.com?affiliate_id=2081746 Matt’s DriveThruRPG Publications: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?author=Matthew%20Robinson https://substack.com/@matthewrobinson3 Chris on social media: https://hyvemynd.itch.io/ Jeremy's Links: http://www.abusecartoons.com/ http://www.rcharvey.com Support Us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/upturnedtable Give us a tip on our livestream: https://streamlabs.com/upturnedtabletop/tip Donate or give us a tip on Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/2754JZFW2QZU4 Intro song is “Chips” by KokoroNoMe https://kokoronome.bandcamp.com/

Parents of under-fives in England are to be offered official advice on how long their children should spend watching TV or looking at computer screens. It comes as government research shows about 98% of children under two were watching screens on a daily basis - with parents, teachers and nursery staff saying youngsters were finding it harder to hold conversations or concentrate on learning. To discuss this further Nuala McGovern is joined by Kate Silverton, child counsellor and parenting author, and Professor Sonia Livingstone from the London School of Economics and author of Parenting for a Digital Future. Heather Rose's latest novel, A Great Act of Love, is set around a real-life vineyard in Tasmania in the early 19th century. This was at a time when Tasmania, or Van Diemen's Land as it was called then, was still a British penal colony. It was while she was researching this book that Heather discovered her own family's dark history and its connection to the land, which she has interwoven into the story. This year marks the centenary of the Adoption of Children Act 1926. It was the first legislation enabling the legal adoption of children in England and Wales, with equivalent legislation passed in Northern Ireland in 1929 and in Scotland in 1930. Joining Nuala to discuss the significance of the passing of this act is Dame Carol Homden, Chief Executive of Coram, Harriet Ward, Emeritus Professor at Loughborough University and currently writing a book about the history of adoption, and Zoe Lambert, who was adopted at five months old and is the founder of In-Between Lines, that works with adoptees, adoption agencies and advocacy groups. The Ayoub Sisters are Scottish Egyptian siblings Sarah and Laura Ayoub who play cello and violin. Their debut album was recorded in Abbey Road Studios with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Their second album, Arabesque, was released independently and went to number one in the iTunes chart. They are about to undertake a UK tour to celebrate their 10th anniversary, which will include the premiere of their Arabic Symphony in a homecoming concert in Glasgow. MMALOTN is back to give you breakdowns and predictions for PFL 2025 Europe 3.
This week, we hear from researcher and activist Dr. Sadia Agsous-Bienstein, recorded at a teach-in hosted at the Institute of Postcolonial Studies in Naarm/Melbourne.Sadia speaks on the erased histories of Arab–Jewish solidarities and their meaning in the current moment of genocide in Gaza, perpetrated by Israel and its Zionist footsoldiers — including descendants of Jewish communities of North Africa and the Middle East. From anti-fascist resistance in colonial Algeria, to Arab solidarities against European antisemitism, to shared struggles against colonial rule in the Maghreb and Mashreq, Sadia traces how Western colonial divide-and-rule and Zionist settler-colonialism fractured and erased attempts at common life and joint struggle between Jews, Arab-Muslims, and Palestinians. In the second half of the show, Tasnim Sammak joins Sadia in conversation to reflect on what these histories mean in the current moment of genocide in Gaza — and how remembering solidarities is itself an act of resistance.Sadia mentions the following authors in her talk:Avi Shlaim, Three Worlds: Memoirs of an Arab-Jew. London: Oneworld Publications, 2019.Ella Shohat, On the Arab-Jew, Palestine, and Other Displacements. London: Pluto Press, 2017.Rashid Hussein, Selected Poems. Edited by Adina Hoffman, translated by Sasson Somekh. The Religion Business," joins us to unravel the tangled web of business and religion. Our discussion casts a spotlight on the financial practices of religious institutions, particularly during the televangelist era, as Chris bravely shares his personal challenges and unwavering commitment to truth. His insights lead us into the complex terrain where religion, politics, and commerce intersect, revealing the historical grip religious entities have held on political power to preserve their influence. As we venture further, we confront the deception that can lurk within religious institutions, where narcissistic traits sometimes find fertile ground in leadership roles. Our conversation critiques the vast resource disparities within religious organizations, where wealth contrasts starkly with unresolved social issues like poverty and homelessness. The phenomena of televangelism are dissected, exposing how vulnerable individuals are often manipulated while personal stories and cultural critiques, such as "The Righteous Gemstones," question the accountability of religious sectors in addressing societal needs authentically. Transparency is our rallying cry, urging religious organizations to lift their veils and embrace accountability. We discuss the innovative software platform, Broken Shepherds, designed to bring financial transparency to nonprofits. Despite resistance, the courage to advocate for change is underscored, as we explore the cultural pressures that silence voices within religious communities. Our closing reflections touch on the intersection of religion and commerce on social media, encouraging a mindful approach to resource allocation and the broader implications of our actions, leaving listeners with much to ponder about the role of faith in a modern world.

Growing up in the United States, I was fortunate to not know what it's like to go through a day with bombs falling around me and my dad fighting in the war. For Robin Ayoub, this was his daily reality, and as he would eventually discover, getting away from it was how he found his way home.Imagine being eleven years old and given 24 hours to learn how to operate a knitting machine because your family's survival depends on it. Then picture yourself going door-to-door every weekend, selling the sweaters you made, knowing you can't come home until every single one is sold. That's where he learned what all good sales professionals know: the importance of making “one more call” or “one more stop on your route” before quitting time. That was just the beginning of Robin's extraordinary journey from war-torn Lebanon to becoming a tech executive whose influence spans four continents. Growing up as the oldest of five children, he was taught the importance of being productive and responsible. With a civil war raging around him, survivability was key. There was no time to lose. Even with all this going on, Robin finished college and got a job as a bank teller. One day he was sent home because of a bombing raid. Long story short – listen to hear what happened – he ended up in the hospital. When he got out, he said, “that's enough. I'm done here!” He took his younger brother and moved to Cyprus. He found a job and from there helped his parents and four younger siblings get their immigration paperwork in order. They all moved to New Brunswick, Canada, landing in the middle of a snowstorm and not speaking English. Through luck, Robin found a Maronite priest who spoke their language in the phone book, and within a short period of time he found work sweeping a construction site – a great use of his education in computers. But, it turns out the hotel they were expanding on that construction site needed somebody to update their billing software. Since programming languages were universal, his lack of English at the time didn't stop him. This opportunity led Robin to more jobs in computer programming, which in turn launched him onto what has become a rich, successful entrepreneurial journey. In Lebanon, daily bombardments were normal. The constant threat of violence became background noise. And he thought it was all fine. But as we know, Fine is a 4-Letter Word. In a moment, when you meet Robin, you'll discover how he looked back and realized how living with bombs falling around him showed him the importance of his family, his work, and his opportunity to inspire and lead others. You may be particularly interested in how it informed his definition of “perfect”.And I can hardly wait for you to hear where you can find Robin and his family every single morning at 6:30, without fail.
