Today I learned that a former teacher passed away. I kept telling myself that I would make time to reconnect with Michael and I never did. Michael was an optimist. I have not been, but today I feel like I want to figure it out. Because now there's a little less optimism in the world, and someone needs to pick up the slack.

Join Doug Bennett as he sits down with coach Gregory Russell Benedikt for a conversation about dreams versus goals. Gregory shares his journey from a 100-day rejection challenge, including asking strangers to jump in their pools, to landing a TEDx talk and meeting his girlfriend through bold action. This episode explores Gregory's perspective on holding goals loosely, his experience with goal apathy and his coaching approach where he becomes a "dream Sherpa," accompanying clients on their bucket list adventures. KEY TAKEAWAYS • A simple knock on a stranger's door asking to use their pool went viral and kick started an entire journey that led to Gregory's TEDx talk. • After years of hitting targets, Gregory discovered that achieving goals brought brief celebration but rarely the lasting fulfilment he expected. • The retreat Gregory has wanted to host for three years suddenly became possible when a community member offered her 40-acre Colorado ranch three days after he committed. • Gregory met his girlfriend by walking up to her in a crowded restaurant and handing her his name on a receipt after feeling an instant connection. • The dream sherpa concept emerged from Gregory wanting to do more than traditional coaching sessions. • Reading "Rejection Proof" twice sparked Gregory's 100-day challenge, proving that sometimes you have 10 seconds to act before putting the book back on the shelf. • Day 66 brought a complete breakdown where Gregory quit for a week, questioning why he was wasting time on ridiculous stranger interactions. BEST MOMENTS "It's moments like that, Doug, that just give me so much hope and excitement and awe and wonder." "We need to get started because if we're willing to take messy, imperfect action, you will learn the lessons you needed to learn." "Everything you need to know in order to achieve the goal, make the dream, become a reality. Everything you need to learn is learned through doing the thing. It's not learned before." "We've all got more time than we actually use. How, you know, check your phone. How long have you been on Facebook or, you know, screen time this week?” "I have a philosophy of yes. You know, if somebody asks me a question, it doesn't matter. Doug, would you like to, the answer's yes at that point." After years working for Merlin Entertainments building and renovating major aquariums, architect Benedikt Schikora founded BSK Projects which handles project management in the hospitality, entertainment and tourism space. He's also a partner in the zoo and aquarium consulting firm, IZACS. We discuss the trends in zoological design, particularly those back of house aspects of animal care that have historically lagged behind today's modern, more enriching public display exhibits. One of the biggest challenges according to Benedikt is working across the many stakeholder groups from owners, curators, caregivers, and guests, while ensuring the well-being and safety of the animals. The second annual HLTH Europe conference brought together health leaders, start-ups, investors, and developers from across the globe for a mid-year pulse check on where healthcare innovation stands today – and where it's headed next. Amid economic uncertainty and shifting regulatory priorities, pharma, health tech, and care delivery are all racing to prove value and scale innovation. In this special extended episode of the pharmaphorum podcast, Deep Dive editor Eloise McLennan sat down with editor-in-chief Jonah Comstock for a candid debrief on the key themes, hot topics, and hallway conversations that shaped the event in Amsterdam. From the rise of GLP-1s and the push for true patient-centricity, to the potential (and pitfalls) of AI and the routes to funding bold new ideas, they unpack what's hype, what's real, and what still needs funding to take flight. Plus, exclusive interviews from the show floor: Benedikt von Thüngen, founder and CEO of Sanome, on how AI is helping the NHS predict the risk of hospital-acquired infections Fiona Costello from Brain+, on making cognitive stimulation therapy for dementia more accessible, scalable, and effective Nick Ross, co-founder of Invest in Equity, on why the future of life sciences investment must be built on gender equality You can listen to this episode, as well as previous episodes of the pharmaphorum podcast, in the player below, download the episode to your computer, or find it - and subscribe to the rest of the series - on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, Pocket Casts, Podbean, and pretty much wherever else you download your other podcasts from.

Neue Retrorunde, neues Genre! Was macht heute noch Spaß, was weniger? Benedikt & Andy

Adam Wies (aka Who Tee Who on YouTube) is back on the show and we discuss a subject I know you'll enjoy: our favorite cartridges for hunting virtually any species of big game. We're play little game where Adam and I each list our favorite cartridge and bullet for hunting specific species of game ranging from coues whitetail all the way up to thick skinned species of African game like cape buffalo and elephant and almost everything in between like mule deer, elk, black bear, etc. The catch is we cannot reuse a cartridge for multiple species. Even so, our discussion provides an interesting glimpse into the thought process he and I each use for selecting cartridges and bullets for hunting different species of game. In this episode of The Big Game Hunting Podcast, host John McAdams sits down with Joseph von Benedikt. Unlike past discussions with Joseph focusing on hunting specific animal species, this interview dives into the legendary 300 Holland & Holland Magnum. Joseph recalls how he fell in love with the cartridge, drawn by its pedigree, rich history, and association with sharp looking vintage rifles. He details a few instances of taking deer, African plains game, and elk with various .30 caliber bullets from the cartridge, to include one shocking instance of a bullet failure. Joseph's takeaway? The 300 H&H certainly isn't for everyone, but despite its age, the cartridge remains a solid performer for use on a wide spectrum of big game.
