Retired agent and BAU profiler Leonard Opanashuk reviews his 2002 investigation of the murders of two young Oregon City schoolgirls, Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis, who, within two months of each other, disappeared under mysterious circumstances en route to their neighborhood school bus stop. Len, a relatively new agent with just over a year of experience in the FBI, was assigned the missing schoolgirls case and was present when investigators discovered the remains of both girls buried on a neighbor's property. During the episode, Len explains how working this case shaped the rest of his FBI career. He served in the FBI for over 22 years. I løpet av to måneder forsvant to unge jenter i Oregon City.

On Jan. 9, 2002, in Oregon City, Oregon, 12-year-old Ashley Pond disappeared on her way to meet the school bus. It was just after 8 a.m. and Ashley was running late. The bus stop was just 10 minutes from the Newell Creek Village Apartments where Ashley lived with her mother, Lori Pond—but Ashley Pond never got on the bus and never made it to Gardiner Middle School. On March 8, 2002, two months after Ashley disappeared, Miranda Gaddis, 13, also vanished around 8 a.m. while on her way to the bus stop at the top of the hill. Miranda and Ashley were good friends. They lived in the same apartment complex. Miranda's mother Michelle Duffey had left for work about 30 minutes before Miranda was to catch the bus. When Duffey discovered that Miranda had not been at school, she immediately contacted the police but once again, investigators came up empty.Sourceshttps://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Miranda_Gaddis_and_Ashley_Pondhttps://www.thoughtco.com/the-ward-weaver-case-971098https://allthatsinteresting.com/ward-weaver-iiihttps://thatoregonlife.com/2023/10/ashley-pond-and-miranda-gaddis/Follow us on Instagram @themurdermamasTwitter @themurdermamasFacebook @TheMMamasTic Tok @themurdermamas2Email themurdermamas@gmail.comThinking about starting your own podcast? WE'RE BACKKKK! Today Rebecca tells us the horrifying story of what bad parenting can do to a person. Ward Weaver had a terrible upbringing and sketchy past so in 2002 when his daughters bestfriends go missing, he's treated as #1 suspect and he's confident it's because of who his father is...but the apple usually doesn't fall too far from the tree, right?
It is Jan. 9, 2002, in Oregon City, Oregon, 12-year-old Ashley Pond left her home to walk to the bus stop for Gardiner Middle School. Ashley was hurrying as she was going to be late and miss the bus stop located approximately 10 minutes from her home. Ashley was popular in school but what she loved most was dance. She was on the school's dance team, The Fallen Angels. The team would be rehearsing that day for the big competition they had coming up. Since she was late, Ashley started running as she didn't want to miss school. Little did her loved ones know, that she would never make it to the bus nor arrive at school. Ashley simply disappeared and she would not be the only one.Join Jen and Cam on this episode of ‘Our True Crime Podcast entitled The Missing Girls: Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis.Listener Discretion by @octoberpodVHS Music and EP by @wetalkofdreams Sources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXnb_6jvg3chttps://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Miranda_Gaddis_and_Ashley_Pondhttps://pamplinmedia.com/pt/9-news/503896-402986-potential-news-for-convicted-murderers-in-weaver-familyhttps://www.californiabirthindex.org/birth/ward_f_weaver_born_1963_8641619https://thecinemaholic.com/ashley-pond-and-miranda-gaddis-murders-where-is-ward-weaver-now/https://www.oregonlive.com/oregon-city/2014/02/ward_weaver_iii_like_his_fathe.htmlhttp://thetribonline.com/news/story.php?story_id=26369http://articles.latimes.com/2003/jun/28/science/sci-weaver28https://www.cbsnews.com/news/step-by-step-in-oregon-killer-case/http://articles.latimes.com/2002/mar/14/news/mn-32788http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/2216310.stmhttp://www.oregonlive.com/clackamascounty/index.ssf/2014/06/prosecutors_to_present_case_ag.htmlhttps://web.archive.org/web/20110707161918/http://www.argusobserver.com/articles/2007/05/07/news/news03.txtO'Neal, Linda; Watson, Rick; Tennyson, Philip (2007). A parent's worst nightmare…their child vanishes on the way to catch the bus to school. Did they run away? Were they abducted by a stranger or were they taken by someone they knew and trusted. In 2002, 13-year-old classmates, Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis both vanished on their way to school, two months apart. Soon a task force of over 40 police and F.B.I. agents and the entire community of Oregon City were frantically searching for the missing girls. Jim Redden and Janine Robben reporters for the newly established Portland Tribune reported on the case and worked tirelessly to help solve the crime. I'm going to let them tell you the story of what I call BURIED IN PLAIN SIGHT.

Is evil predetermined at birth or is it created through horrific experiences through a child's youth? The answer to this centuries old question is rather convoluted and involves a labyrinth of theories. Many professionals believe that it is a combination of both. Or in other words, it is nature and nurture. However, one family puts this theory to the test. For 4 generations, a family comprised of murder, rape, and violence has doctors and professionals debating the nature vs. nurture theory. You decide! Sources Kramer, A. (2002, August 26). Born on April 6, 1963, Ward Francis Weaver III is now sitting in a prison cell; serving a life sentence for several egregious crimes against Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis in Oregon City, Oregon. In this episode, you will hear about the life and crimes of not only Weaver III, but his family members as well. This is Part 1 of the Ward Weaver case. Ward Weaver IIIs son, was arrested and charged with the murder of a drug dealer in Canby, Oregon on February 17, 2014. He and three others had allegedly robbed and killed the drug dealer on February 16, 2014 - so, luckily they captured him pretty quickly. He was found guilty and given a life sentence. With his grandfather sitting on California's death row, and his father serving 2 life sentences, this makes him the third generation of Weavers to be convicted as murderers. This was a requested case by Slim - who you will hear from in Part 2 - where we will do a deep dive discussion about the case, the people involved, our thoughts regarding nature vs nurture, and much more.
