Today's case is one of the most bizarre in Germany's crime history. It's June 2006 and Germany is hosting the World Cup, with millions of people out and about watching the games. On June 20th, Frauke Liebs, 21, disappeared without a trace after walking home from an Irish Pub in downtown Paderborn. Subscriber-only episodeLaura Parker was a quiet 14 year old girl, who lived with her parents in Lindenhurst, New York. She had been in choir, active in church, and a softball player at her high school. She disappeared on May 25, 1984, but most people believed that she was a runaway. Laura's parents knew better and wondered where she was, searching everywhere. Four months later, her remains were discovered a few miles from her family home. Her killer has never been found. Around the same time, three other young girls fell victim to disappearances/murders in the same area and it is believed that Laura could be connected to these cases. Sixteen-year-old Theresa Fusco, fifteen-year-old Kelly Morrisey, and nineteen-year-old Jacqueline Martarella were all predicted to have been taken from walking down the same road. Laura Parker's story is a tragic one, because her community wasn't helpful at the time of her disappearance, and many of the students at the high school were unwilling to talk to the police. There were a great deal of conspiracy theories surrounding her case, and rumors flying around about what had happened to the young teen. People claimed that she had overdosed, while others claimed she was murdered. The police said it was natural causes. But what truly happened to young Laura Parker? It is nearly the fortieth anniversary of Laura's death, and there are still so many questions surrounding her death. This is an unsolved murder that is currently under investigation. On Easter Sunday, 1937, Robert Irwin, a talented and very disturbed young sculptor, who had been in and out of mental hospitals for years, committed a horrific triple murder in the fashionable Manhattan neighborhood of Beekman Hill. The victims were Veronica Gedeon, a beautiful true crime magazine model, her mother Mary, both strangled to death, and a male boarder, Frank Byrnes, stabbed eleven times with an icepick while he slept. These murders led to one of the largest manhunts since the Lindbergh baby kidnapping. Just four weeks into the fall semester in 2000, a murder quietly took place, or so it seemed. When students returned to campus after winter break, they were hopeful for a fresh start. But much to their horror, another student was found dead in the same dorm. Today we talk about a Valentine's Day murder of a mother and her children which is sometimes referred to as the “Lonely Hearts Murders”.On February 14, 1985 Cassandra Rundle and her two children were found brutally murdered in their Colorado Springs home. In the months before her death, Cassandra had taken out personal ads in a local newspaper. She received more than 80 responses and made contact with several men, but no evidence could be found to link any of them to the murders. Years later Police looked at a former soldier named Philip E. Wilkinson, who is currently sitting on death row in North Carolina for the 1992 triple slaying of a mother and her two children. Even though that crime had so many similarities to the Rundle murders, 39 years later the murders of Cassandra and her children remain unsolved. If you have any information about this case, please contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719) 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).Sources: https://apps.colorado.gov/apps/coldcase/casedetail.html?id=385 https://www.fox21news.com/news/local/valentines-day-triple-murder-still-unsolved-35-years-later/ https://web.archive.org/web/20160322164426/http://gazette.com/few-left-to-remember-horrific-valentines-day-killings/article/133323 https://web.archive.org/web/20100307083729/http://blogs.denverpost.com/coldcases/2010/02/21/family-of-3-beaten-with-hockey-stick-strangled/ Support the showThanks for listening! Subscriber-only episodeThe Isdal woman case has intrigued me for years and has led me down endless rabbit holes. It remains Norway's greatest mystery, and for good reason. The Isdal Woman refers to an unidentified woman found dead in Norway in 1970. The case is shrouded in mystery, with elements of espionage and an unknown identity. Was it suicide? Was she murdered? Despite extensive investigations, her identity and the circumstances surrounding her death remain unresolved. Who was this mysterious woman, and what led to her bizarre death?Quirky Law: A police officer outfit might sound like the perfect Halloween outfit, but not in Norway. You can get up to 3 years of prison time if you dress up as a police officer, even though it's more usual for people who break this law to get fined a few thousand NOK.The rule is in place to prevent people from being unsure if a person is a real police or not, so police costumes that are obviously not a real police uniform will not be illegal. And while this might sound strange to some, it's not for Norwegians. A police uniform costume made to look as real as possible was part of the outfit for the July 22, 2011 terrorism where 77 people (mainly children) lost their lives. https://thenorwayguide.com/surprisingly-illegal-things/ Today's Nonprofit: https://dnadoeproject.org/about-us/founders/ Sources available upon request. The Doodler is believed to have killed at least six and up to fourteen men in San Francisco between Jan. 1974 and Sept. 1975. He targeted gay men, likely luring them into sexual encounters before killing them and leaving their bodies on beaches or in parks around the city. Three men were somehow able to escape the Doodler's clutches and gave police a description of the man and a sketch was released to the public. Despite police repeatedly questioning one man, the Doodler has evaded capture for nearly 50 years, but we hope he's next on the list for forensic genetic genealogy testing.Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD 24-hour tip line at (415) 575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD. January 6, 1982 was one of the coldest nights of the winter, with temperatures dipping down to negative 20 degrees, when two young women vanished from the popular ski resort town of Breckenridge, Colorado within 3 hours of each other and were later found shot to death.Even though the women — 29 year old Bobbie Jo Oberholtzer and 21 year old Annette Schnee — disappeared on the same day, their cases were initially not linked until Annette's body was discovered six months later. The killer had left clothing belonging to one of the two women with the body of the other…..But for nearly 40 years, the identity of their killer confounded police, even though he was within their grasp the night of the murders. It was only when the killer was identified decades later that investigators learned the bitter truth.Get your Merch here: https://belleame-creations.square.site/shop/judgy-crime-girls/2 Sources: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/annette-schnee-bobbie-jo-oberholtzer-1982-cold-case-murders-alan-lee-phillips-rescued-breckenridge-colorado/ https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Bobbie_Oberholtzer_and_Annette_Schnee Support the showThanks for listening! Subscriber-only episodeWhen Hans Schmidt was a child in Bavaria, other kids played sports, but he liked going to the slaughterhouse to watch animals being killed. "Ich seh gern blut!" he'd say ("I like to see the blood"). The blood excited him—sexually excited him, noted his doctor. He also took to killing animals himself and carrying their heads in his pocket. Then he decided to become a priest. This didn't quite turn his life around, and he ended up committing all kinds of offenses, both heretical and sexual, till no parish would accept him. So in 1909, he moved from Germany to America. There, Hans Schmidt illegally married, impregnated, and then brutally murdered and dismembered his “wife”, Anna Aumüller. For that crime, he was eventually executed via electrocution, and to this day is the only Catholic priest ever executed in the United States. Turns out, the murder he was caught for was only the tip of the iceberg. Thanks for listening! Subscribe here: For Bonus Friday Episodes! Did you know San Antonio, TX is one of the most haunted cities in America? A hotel would not be complete without a ghost story attached to its history. The story goes that in February of 1965, a young man named Walter Emerick checked into the Gunter Hotel with a lovely young lady. Two days later Emerick committed one of the most horrific crimes in San Antonio's history. In room 636 at the Sheraton Gunter Hotel, Emerick murdered and butchered the woman, whose identity has yet to be discovered. Police received tips that Emerick had killed the woman, and they swarmed to capture him. But before they could reach him, Emerick took his own life with a revolver. Since then, it seems that the energy from that fateful night continues to replay repeatedly. However, that's not the only paranormal activity reported at the location. Visitors claim sightings of two Flapper girls, who seem to be in a heated argument and the haunting sounds of jazz music reportedly played by legendary blues artist Robert Johnson.Get your Merch here: https://belleame-creations.square.site/shop/judgy-crime-girls/2Sources: https://ghostcitytours.com/san-antonio/haunted-places/haunted-hotels/sheraton-gunter-hotel/ https://www.legendsofamerica.com/tx-gunterhotel/ Support the showThanks for listening! The next day, shortly after noon, a housekeeper discovered the couple dead in their room. Blood was splattered across the wall, headboard and carpet…it was gruesome. When Police got to the room, they discovered the most horrific and bizarre things had been done to the couple and the room.
